Chip Huth Bio:
In addition to serving as a senior consultant with Arbinger, Charles “Chip” Huth is a Major with the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department. He has 28 years of law enforcement experience, commands KCPD’s Traffic Division, and is the State of Missouri’s defensive tactics subject matter expert. He also consults for international law enforcement, military, and corporate clients. He formerly led the Street Crimes Unit Tactical Enforcement Squad and has planned, coordinated, and executed over 2500 high-risk tactical operations.
Chip’s speeches are entertaining and inspiring, linking his law enforcement experiences with Arbinger principles. He leads audiences through incredibly powerful stories, weaving in lessons about mindset change and answering the question, “How does this mindset stuff work in real life?” His energy and the applicability of his stories leave audiences excited and motivated to create change in their lives and work.
Chip regularly gives keynotes and other presentations to law enforcement, corporate, government, and other audiences. A few of these engagements include speeches at TEDx, WINx, police departments nationwide, U.S. Army Medical Command, and U.S. Air Force Aviation Commands. Chip is also an accomplished author: He co-wrote Unleashing the Power of Unconditional Respect—Transforming Law Enforcement and Police Training, a textbook used in officer development and graduate programs
Chip has a bachelor’s degree in multi-disciplinary studies from Grantham University and an associate’s degree in political science from Park University. He is the former president of the National Law Enforcement Training Center, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to delivering effective training to the international law enforcement, corrections, security, and military communities. He has 35 years of experience in martial arts and is a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Guest Bio: Commander Dave Mather (Ret.) began his law enforcement career in 1988 as an officer with the Cheney Police Department in Washington. He served for 22 years, eventually rising to the position of commander. He worked as an instructor and helped develop and execute an annual multi-agency active shooter training program designed for university settings. In 2011, he retired from policing and became the Executive Director of the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center as well as the Rural Law Enforcement Technology Center. Created through grants awarded from the US Department of Justice, the centers are designed to improve the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies through the integration of technology into everyday policing. In 2018, Commander Mather became a professional advisor for the Center for Excellence in Public Safety Leadership at Cardinal Stritch University. He has operated his own law enforcement consulting firm since 1999. He has teaching experience as both an academy instructor and adjunct professor for college courses in ethics, domestic violence investigations, laws of arrest, search and seizure, crime scene investigation, and leadership for police organizations. He is a certified instructor and charter member with the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training. Chief Jack Cauley was sworn in as the Castle Rock Police Chief on Jan. 3, 2012. He began his law enforcement career in 1984 as a dispatcher, eventually joining the Overland Park Police Department in Kansas where he served for more than 25 years, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel.
Chief Cauley holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from Central Missouri State University and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Kansas. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

Jeff McCausland
Since 2000, both domestic and internationally, Dr. McCausland has conducted numerous executive leadership development workshops and consulted for leaders in public education, US government institutions, non-profit organizations, and corporations.
Dr. McCausland is a retired Colonel from the U.S. Army and former Dean of Academics at the U.S. Army War College. He is a Visiting Professor of National Security at Dickinson College.
During his military career Dr. McCausland served in a variety of command and staff positions both in the United States and Europe during the Kosovo crisis and Operations Desert Shield and Storm.
He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Army Airborne and Ranger schools, and the Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. He holds both a Masters and Ph.D. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University.

Gary Klein, Ph.D., authored Sources of Power: How People Make Decisions, and four other books plus three co-edited volumes. He is known for the cognitive models he described, such as the Recognition-Primed Decision (RPD) model, the Data/Frame model of sensemaking, the Management By Discovery model of planning in complex settings, and the Triple Path Model of Insight. He developed methods including the PreMortem method of risk assessment, techniques for Cognitive Task Analysis, the ShadowBox training approach, and also pioneered the Naturalistic Decision Making movement in 1989. Dr. Klein has decades of work experience in dozens of work domains, including military, healthcare, and emergency response.

Dr. George Reed is the Dean of the School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. While most people know him for his work at ESPN, being a basketball analyst and writer was actually his side-gig for most of the last two decades. Chad’s peacebuilding work is what defines him.
After completing a Master’s degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University and a Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law School in 2000, Chad was poised to begin his career as a conflict mediator and facilitator. However, Chad sold a small internet start-up, Sportstalk.com, that he co-founded while in graduate school to ESPN right after he graduated and spent the next four years working full-time with ESPN as a senior editor and writer covering the NBA and NBA Draft. The experience of covering NBA games was a lifelong dream, but Chad yearned to do something more impactful with his conflict resolution skills. In 2005 he left his full-time work with ESPN to become the Director of the David O. McKay Center for Intercultural Understanding at BYU-Hawaii.
In Hawaii, Chad created a major and certificate program in intercultural peacebuilding, mediation and facilitation. Chad and his wife Amanda, who teaches courses in family conflict transformation and mindfulness, have worked with thousands of students from over 90 countries in the world. Chad’s work has earned him Professor of the Year honors at BYU-Hawaii and made Intercultural Peacebuilding one of the most popular programs on campus.
Chad’s work has frequently taken him out of the classroom and into conflict zones around the world. He’s made nearly 50 trips to the Middle East and has worked on numerous other conflicts around the world as both a mediator and a facilitator. Chad has served as a senior consultant, speaker and facilitator for the Arbinger Institute since 2006 — working with governments, NGOs and corporations like Nike and the US Olympic team. He’s also helped Arbinger develop trainings and curriculum on conflict resolution as well as a training guide on reconciliation based on the documentary Beyond Right and Wrong.
He’s been able to combine his expertise on both sports and conflict by serving as an executive board member of the non-profit peacebuilding organization PeacePlayers.
