241 - What if the biggest obstacle to your success is your own mind? That's the provoking thought we unravel in this discussion. My husband Marc and I are going into the depths of our subconscious, uncovering hidden beliefs that may be keeping us stuck in a cycle of self-doubt and underachievement. Striving for perfection, for instance, is a common trap many of us fall into, setting unattainable standards that leave us feeling inadequate. But what if we told you that progress, not perfection, is the true measure of success?

We challenge these limiting beliefs that are sneaky, and encourage you to focus on alternative thoughts. We hope this conversation helps you recognize and challenge the beliefs that are holding you back, equipping you to embrace a new perspective and unlock your true potential. So, let's embark on this journey of self-discovery together and reshape our realities, one belief at a time to live outside of our comfort zones. Because after all, isn’t life itself a beautiful risk?

189 - How do you become resilient and overcome the most challenging circumstances? Today's special guest Dr. Kate Lund, licensed clinical psychologist and best-selling author, will tell us how.

Growing up with Hydrocephalus took the ordinary out of Kate’s
childhood. Numerous surgeries, countless doctor visits and relentless
recovery periods had become her norm. But through it all, one thing
kept her thriving – the power of resilience in extraordinary
circumstances. Building her life around finding incredible possibility on
the other side of challenge has kept her driven and ultimately helped
her find her true calling.

Dr. Lund is a licensed clinical psychologist of 17 years, peak performance
coach, best-selling author and TEDx speaker. Her specialized training
in medical psychology includes world-renowned Shriners Hospital for
Children, Boston, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Beth Israel
Deaconess Medical Center, all of which are affiliated with Harvard
Medical School. She uses a strengths-based approach to help her
clients improve their confidence in school, sports and life while helping
them to become more resilient and reach their full potential at all levels.

Outside of work, Kate enjoys spending time with her husband and twin
boys, exploring the outdoors of the Pacific Northwest, and these days
can often be found on the golf course.

Much of what we talk about relates to the many challenges we face as moms/parents as we strive to build our dream lives.

181 - What is Conscious Parenting? That's what our special guest is here to answer! In this episode, we go deep into what this parenting style is with expert Nina Cruz.

Nina is a certified conscious parent coach/social worker whose mission is to support parents in building healthy connections with their children. She does this through teaching them conscious parenting, where they heal their own childhood wounds so they can consciously raise empowered children.

She describes how when a parent’s inner world shifts, their outer world changes, transforming the parent–child dynamic from chaos to control to worth and connection.

Some topics that are covered in this episode:

  • What are the benefits of conscious parenting?
  • How do we hold space for our children?
  • Why do we always feel guilty/not enough as a parent?
  • What are the parenting myths?
  • How can frazzled parents move from surviving to thriving?

This is such an interesting topic and one that when explored further can open so many opportunities for improving our relationships with our kids and ourselves.

Hope you enjoy this episode!

174 - Feeling like you need some motivation or a quick tip to get you going? Each week in between full episodes, I will share short clips on a certain topic. This is a great way to get inspired for the day. Enjoy this quick burst of motivation!

In this microcast, I recite a few affirmations you can use to start your day or right before an action your’e about to take. I’ve typed them out below so you can take a screenshot and save them to your phones.

Daily Affirmations:

  • “Me being present means I can enjoy my time in whatever I’m doing without worrying about something else - I’m physically and mentally in the moment. This week, I will remind myself that I can be present and not feel like I’m letting anyone down.”
  • “I choose inner peace this week. I understand my expectations may not be met, and that's okay. I will enjoy what I can and let go of what I can't control.”
  • “The simplest action towards my goals is still action. I will appreciate the small efforts I take every day because each step gets me closer and improves my confidence.”
  • “Because I deserve to take time throughout my day to relax and calm my mind, I choose to find a quiet, safe place to meditate or sit in silence to gain clarity so that I can be my best self as a mom.”

142 - Today’s episode is my attempt at normalizing talking about how challenging motherhood really is. With the constant demands and responsibilities we face everyday, it’s no wonder we’re overwhelmed and feeling like we just can’t keep up.

When I started talking, I didn’t know exactly where it was going to lead because I just wanted to speak from my heart. As a mom, who is often alone with her thoughts, I think about some of these challenges; I experience them and I know so many others do as well. So, this may not have the structure that my episodes normally have but I hope it’s something that you maybe needed to hear, if not at the very least just know you’re not alone <3

93 -When the day has been chaotic, have you ever felt like all you needed was just a moment to take a breath? I remember one night I was so tired and struggling to put my kids down to bed. They were extra rowdy and defiant and I just had enough. I was finally able to put them in bed and I walked over to my room with my heart racing. I went to bed and I felt like I had to calm myself down because I was feeling so many emotions. I began to do some breath-work to relax. As soon as I was done sitting in silence and controlling my breath, tears started rolling down my face as if I was balling my eyes out, but I didn't feel bad. I felt relief. I needed to just sit with my emotions and breath.

After that, every time I felt the same anxiety and frustration, I stepped away to do the same thing. It was so simple but yet so effective, allowing me to feel calm and gain some clarity on the next steps I needed to take.

This is why I created something that would allow other moms to take that much needed breathing space. Self-care can sometimes be ignored due to lack of time. But, moms who take care of themselves can be more intentional and present.

I created a free resources to give busy moms and mom entrepreneurs the ability to add in a short meditation to their routine.

We didn’t realize each of us had our own way of feeling loved. It seems so obvious now, but getting to truly understand your partner and them understand you is life-changing. THIS is why this is such a hot topic!

The book we reference is called the 5 Love Languages by Dr. Gary Chapman. Enjoy!
