Sometimes we feel a little foolish talking to someone about our faith, inviting them to church, or praying with someone in need. The truth is that the most foolish thing we can do with the time we’ve been given on this earth is to waste it worrying about how we look or how we feel. There are too many people headed into a Christless eternity and it’s our assignment, our Co-Mission (Mt. 28:16-20), to tell every person about Jesus every day! Let’s redeem April Fool’s Day and be willing to look like fools if just for the chance that one more person could meet the Resurrected Lord. I wasn’t expecting this. Four random people from four different churches desperate for the presence of God found themselves in a spontaneous worship service at the top of Double Peak this morning. God orchestrated this moment for your moment to meet with Him! He wants to turn your “You Can’t” into a “You Will” (Joshua 17:18). He wants to turn Your pain towards His promise as You enter His presence through worship right where you’re at. “In the same way I will not cause pain without allowing something new to be born.” (Isaiah 66:9) #thursdaythoughts
Luck: “Success or failure brought on by chance rather than through one’s own actions.” Aren’t you glad we serve The Person of Christ our Lord by faith rather than putting our future in the hands an impersonal force or fate? We don’t have to depend on circumstances or situations lining up but instead on the leading of the Lord within us. Christ’s leadership in our lives is proof of Christ’s Lordship over our lives. Ask this question in every situation, “Jesus What Are You Doing Here?”

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a 40 Day Fast (excluding Sundays) leading up to Easter Sunday. Instead of someone like me telling you what to fast what if we both let someone like Jesus tell us! How? We follow Jesus by praying with Jesus. Everyday between now and Easter let’s ask Jesus one question, “What Are You Doing Where I Wake, Work, And Worship?” What if Lent becomes a launchpad for following Jesus Every Day long after the season of Lent is over? “On Wednesday, February 1, 1921 people jammed the colonnaded pavilion to capacity. When Aimee Semple McPherson asked, “How many see God performing miracles here today?” between 4000 and 6000 hands shot into the air. McPherson anointed and prayed over 103 people in succession. Chief James Patrick brought Addie Mendenhall to the park in a police ambulance. An invalid frozen on her back, Mendenhall sat up for the first time in five years. As Dr. Humphrey Stewart played the mighty organ, which could replicate the musical voices of an entire symphony, James Flood testified that his lungs, burned by chlorine gas in WWI, had been purified.” This was exactly 100 years ago this week!. The same God who moved then is moving again!

This morning we all woke up in Babylon. We have been here for a while. This is part of God’s plan until His return. So, what does the life of faith look like in Babylon where we wake, work, and worship? ““Build homes, and plan to stay. Plant gardens, and eat the food they produce. Marry and have children. Then find spouses for them so that you may have many grandchildren. Multiply! Do not dwindle away! And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.” Jeremiah 29:5-7

This new year will require the pioneer in each of us to rise up. The landscape of our world has changed culturally, politically, financially, spiritually. The maps from years before don't work anymore. Everything has been upended by the events of 2020. If we go in to this year with the goal of “going back to normal” we will miss the new thing God is doing! We can’t go backward if we want to go forward.

How do we respond to the heartbreaking events of Jan 6 and all that has proceeded it? We don’t give up, we don’t give in, we fall to our knees and pray for a fresh wind of God to ignite His love in our hearts for those He died for! We repent for any place where anger, offense, unforgiveness has extinguished our love. We pray for “all this in authority” (1 Tim. 2:2). Out of the darkness will rise a love that can’t be extinguished and a move of God that will capture the hearts of those who seek Him. Our one job- love. #surrendertoonein2021 #thursdaythoughts
