What does it mean to love God? In part two we dig deeper into the passage found in Psalm 63:1-8.
August 28, 2022 - PM Service
When unbelievers have hardened senses they have them because they are still blind spiritually, still hardened in heart and unable to see who Jesus is as Savior of sinners and believe in Him. We see that in the passage before us.
August 28, 2022 - AM Service
Are you loving God with all your heart? What would that look like in the life of a believer in Jesus? Psalm 63:1-8 will help us answer that question.
August 14, 2022 - PM Service
Show me, said the people who came looking for Jesus after they had their fill of the loaves and fish. You've got to show us some sign if you want us to believe in you. The problem is that the unbelieving heart is never satisfied.
August 14, 2022 - AM Service
If you say you are a believer in Jesus then you should be following Jesus. And the Bible gives us examples from the life of Jesus that we can follow. Do you see growing evidence in your life that you are a believer in and follower of Jesus?
August 7, 2022 - PM Service
When people have faulty beliefs about Jesus they'll be looking for at wrong ways to or even make their own ways to be right with God. Jesus makes it clear in the passage before us that there is no work to do to be right with God, but one must believe in Him.
August 7, 2022 - AM Service
It's possible to be too easily enamored by the things that you can collect and accomplish in this life while missing all that Jesus gives for here and eternity when you put your faith in Him.
July 24, 2022 - PM Service
Are your affections misplaced? Are you only concerned with today, today’s food, today’s needs, and what Jesus can do for you today? Or have you trusted your life to Jesus and are you making knowing Him, and living for Him your highest aim on earth?
July 24, 2022 - AM Service
When it comes to determining the strength of your faith in Jesus there may be no better way than looking at where your faith was during your last life storm. Jesus wanted the disciples to put their full faith in Him and this passage reminds us to do the same.
July 17, 2022 - AM Service
Why did people flock to Jesus? Was it because they saw Him as the Messiah, the one who would save them from their sins? As we enter John 6 we find that great crowds of people were attracted to follow Jesus wherever He went because of His miracles. They saw the miracles and wanted more, but they didn't see Jesus for who He was, God in human flesh and the only One to be believed in.
July 10, 2022 - AM Service
If you only search for the approval of man and fail to believe in Jesus and devote your life to living for Christ you'll miss and not be seeking "the glory that comes from the only God" (John 5:44). What is this glory?
July 3, 2022 - PM Service
There's a danger in seeking the praise of men. There's a danger in looking only for the approval of man. That danger is that you will be tempted to pursue only that which is temporal in this life and fail to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
July 3, 2022 - AM Service
Jesus made no claims about who He is only statements of fact that clarify who He is. Knowing and understanding who Jesus is, is foundational to our faith in Jesus. Let's look at what Jesus reveals about who He is as God in human flesh.
June 26, 2022 - Evening Service
In John 5 the Jewish religious leaders were confronting the very giver of life and final judge with their petty religious rules. They wouldn’t believe His Word and even opposed Him. But for all who believe in Jesus verse 24 is a promise: "Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life."
June 26, 2022 - Morning Service
Are you more concerned about your man-made traditions than you are with obeying God? What kinds of things are you substituting for being righteous before God? What kinds of things have you allowed to take the place of being obedient to God’s Word? That was the problem the Jewish religious leaders had with Jesus healing on the Sabbath the man who had been lame for 38 years.
June 19, 2022 - Morning Service
Not all illness is the result of some personal sin. God is working in all our suffering. For these reasons your faith can be strengthened even if you suffer illness. God’s ways are not your ways. His purposes are not like yours. But you can trust in Him because His purposes are always good.
June 12, 2022 - Evening Service
Jesus chose one man to heal physically at the pool of Bethesda. But Jesus went on to tell him that he should go on and sin no more. How? In the power of the Spirit. And forgiveness of sins and the power of the Spirit is available to all who believe in Jesus.
June 12, 2022 - Morning Service
Some people are curious about religion, or they're interested in understanding who Jesus was. Some people will go to church because they think there's something there to make them feel better. But this is not true faith in Jesus. In our passage of study we see people like that. But we also see people who truly believe in Jesus.
Sunday; June 5, 2022 - AM Service
What is genuine faith in Jesus? What does it look like? The Bible gives clear answers to these questions that go beyond mere curiosity in spiritual things.
Sunday; June 5, 2022 - PM Service
God uses believers in Jesus to witness, to testify of Christ in leading people to faith in Him. God also uses the Word and it's the Word of God people need most for their faith to be properly placed in Jesus and Him alone.
Sunday; May 29, 2022 - AM Service
Jesus has been spiritually nourished by pointing the woman at the well to her need for living water. Jesus was serving God the Father as He served to meet the needs of this woman. Then he pointed the disciples to the spiritual nourishment that's available to them, and all followers of Christ as we serve the Lord.
Sunday; May 22, 2022 - PM Service
Jesus had been revealing himself as the Messiah personally to one, spiritually needy woman. When the disciples return He's not thinking of the food they brought back, He’s still thinking about the spiritual nourishment for the soul that comes from serving the Lord for God's glory.
Sunday; May 22, 2022 - AM Service
Is repentance necessary when coming to faith in Jesus? Is it enough to simply believe in Him? Or should repentance be evident in the life of one who professes faith in Christ? The testimony of God’s Word is that repentance is necessary. Listen as we examine what the Bible says about repentance.
May 15, 2022 - PM Service
Are you surprised at how Jesus works? Don’t be. Jesus was willing to wait for the woman at the well, he was patient with her, he was gentle with her, and he made time for this one woman whom many others had written off. And Jesus did this to offer to her the living water.
May 15, 2022 - AM Service
What is true worship? It may not be what we often label as worship. From the Old and New Testaments, we learn what true worship is.
Sunday; May 8, 2022 - PM
What do you think is your deepest need? We might all have a different answer until we look carefully at the encounter the woman at the well had with Jesus. The deepest need for all mankind is the one only Jesus can meet. He gives living water.
Sunday; May 8, 2022 - AM
If we will learn from the witness of Jesus we'll find His example of seeking the lost and pointing them to the Gospel the best kind of training in evangelism there is.
What the woman at the well needed is what we all need. For forgiveness of sins and real life we need life-giving water. We need living water. This woman couldn't quench her own thirst, thirst for happiness, and joy. She needed the indwelling work of the Holy Spirit for that. She needed Jesus for that, and so do we.
Will you say with John the Baptist, "He must increase, but I must decrease"? It will take humility. A humility that shows itself in a total yielding to God’s will, a recognition that any success in ministry you see is not your own, a joy that's found in Jesus being magnified.
When people see your life does it point them to Jesus, do they actually get to see the One who gives eternal life, or do they only see you?
The message for us from this passage at Easter and every other day of the year is that God loves sinners so much that He sent His one and only Son, to live a sinless life, to go to the cross for our sins, and to die for them, and to be buried and then rise from the dead on the third day so that whoever believes would be saved from their sins.
There are powerful truths shown us in the Bible that remind us of all that’s true for every person who looks to Jesus Christ in faith. These are truths that exist because Jesus willingly went to the cross and they are true for all who believe in Him.
Nicodemus didn’t understand it when he first enquired of Jesus but it wasn’t more religion he needed. What he needed was to believe in Jesus. It’s the problem every sinner has. It’s not being better, kinder, or more religious that makes you right with God. What makes you right with God is believing in Jesus.
How can you know you have been born again? The Bible gives clear instruction to believers pointing to the evidence that will be apparent in the lives of believers in Jesus, people who are born again.
Nicodemus and all of mankind need to know that you cannot be right with God based on who you are or what you've done. You cannot make yourself right with God on your own terms. Being born again is completely a work of God. Your responsibility is to repent and believe in Jesus.
One thing is clear when you begin reading John chapter 3. It’s clear that Jesus knows just what you need. We see it in the exchange with Nicodemus. Jesus knows just what Nicodemus needed, and he knows that because he knows what’s in the heart of man. What was it he needed?
Read the Bible and beginning to end you'll see clearly the omniscience of God. A Biblical understanding of God's omniscience is essential for your faith in Jesus. What does God know? He knows everything, He knows your struggles and He knows your needs, and He will never forget you.
There is a belief that is not a true belief in Jesus. Jesus, God in human flesh, knew the hearts and minds of all people. The omnisciences of God is on display in this passage.
In John 2 Jesus calls his body the temple. In several ways, Jesus' body is the true temple, and all who trust in Christ are also now God's temple.
When Jesus drove out of the temple those who were selling sheep and oxen and doves along with their animals, and along with the money-changers, His deity was on display in his passion for a pure heart and in pointing to His power over death.
Jesus turns water into wine. This is the first of His public signs which John shows us from the ministry of Jesus. Follow along as we make three important observations from this passage.
Jesus manifested His glory for the purpose of showing who He is as God in human flesh. We see here the first of Jesus' signs and in this sign, He manifests His glory so that people will believe in Him.
What does it mean that Jesus is the Son of Man? It's a title that Jesus used for himself many times and it points to the fact that Jesus is God's revelation of himself to mankind in human flesh.
Who is Jesus that he can say "follow me"? He's the one with authority, he's the one who reveals the love of God to man, and he's the one who knows you.
What's in a name? Simon would receive a new name from Jesus but it wasn't for something he was at the time but for something he would become as he learned to trust and follow the Lord Jesus Christ. It was a name he would need to learn to live up to.
What happens in the life of a believer when they place their faith in Jesus? Does anything change for people who believe in Jesus? We’ll see the answer to that in John 1:35-42.
When you read the Bible it's important to read with a heart that wants to learn. One question, among many, to ask as you read the Bible is "What can I learn about God from this passage?" Let's ask that of the passage as we learn of God from the Lamb.
Throughout Israel’s history, God repeatedly made it clear that sin and separation from Him could only be removed by blood sacrifices and that the lamb used for the sacrifice had to be spotless. John shows us that Jesus is the spotless, sinless Lamb of God.
The church is a guardian of the truth, and every believer in Jesus is to be so saturated with Scripture that we are each guardians of the truth who are always growing in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The role of John the Baptist was to point to Jesus; to shine the light on The Christ, the anointed One, the Messiah who had been sent by God the Father to forgive the sins and save all who believe in Him. That is now the role of God's true church in the world today. Will you live your life so that it points to Jesus?
The Apostle John is writing this Gospel so that we will believe in Jesus, and keep believing in Jesus. He's also helping us see that our witness to the watching world must also, always be, about Jesus.
Believers in Jesus can take comfort in the fact that God is sovereign and He is in control of this world. But believers are also to take seriously their responsibility to live for the glory of God this side of eternity. Believers are to be ready, living in light of the Lord's return and coming judgment.
The fullness of God is in the Son and the fullness of the Son is in all people who believe in the Son. And salvation is full and complete through faith in Jesus alone because Jesus is the Son of God, God the Son.
Jesus is coming again! It’s a fact. We have in these first 9 verses of 2 Peter 3 reassuring words for all who are in Christ and sobering words for anyone tempted to reject Jesus. There are people who scoff and reject the idea that He will return, and that He will judge, but the Word of God assures us that this is no fable.
Jesus, the Light, came to give forgiveness of sins and life everlasting to all who believe in His name. You have all this evidence and every reason to believe in Jesus as Savior and Lord. You also have all this evidence and every reason to live your life so that it points to Jesus, the Light, so that others will believe.
Peter warns that false teachers will face the judgment of God. He also describes false teachers so that believers in Jesus can be on guard.
Darkness is overcome by the light. Light conquers darkness. Darkness will never overcome light. Light means life, and Jesus the light means life for those who believe in His name.
The church is not immune to false teachers. We must make every effort then, to keep ourselves rooted and grounded in the Word of God lest we lose our stability and be carried away in error.
Today if you are a follower of Jesus you need to remember every day that you serve the risen Savior, Jesus Christ the Lord. What He accomplished by His birth, His death on the cross, and by His resurrection was possible because He was the Word made flesh.
Read and feed on the Word of God. Daily reminding yourself, remembering and recognizing the Word as God speaking to you.
Should God not return or call you home for another twenty years where will you be found? Will you be found following the same truths of God’s Word, living by the same standard of God’s Word, and still pointing people like a shining star to Jesus? We can learn from the star that lead the wise men to the Christ-child.
There’s often much joy for believers in Jesus at Christmas. But for believers who are drawing near to God there’s joy in the Lord all year long when they keep searching to know Jesus, keep believing in Him, keep following Him and keep worshiping Him.
A growing believer who is supplementing their spiritual life with the spiritual qualities seen in Second Peter 1:5-11 can look forward to victory and joy this side of heaven and a victorious arrival into heaven one day.
Matthew 1:18-25 is full of pointers to the miraculous and divine conception and the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Come see the miracle of Immanuel, God with us.
What Jude is giving us here is a charge to invest in your spiritual life. What we’ve been seeing in Jude is the very real danger that awaits you if you fail to invest in your spiritual life with the truth of God’s Word. So what follows is very important for us all.
Ignoring warning signs when you are driving can be hazardous. Even more important are warning signs in the Bible. Jude has given us many warning signs about false teachers and the dangers they pose. Follow along as we examine the warning signs seen in Jude verses 14-19.
It’s troubling to think of false teachers slipping into the church attempting to lead people astray. But it’s a needful conversation Jude forces us to have. In Jude verses 8-13 we’re shown how to recognize false teaching today. People who propagate false teaching can often be recognized by their corrupt communication and corrupt character.
God’s people need constant reminders of His precious and very great promises. In 2 Peter 1:1-4 we find four such promises that will feed and grow your faith in Jesus.
Learning to guard against false teachers will be greatly helped by learning from the past. In verses 5-7 Jude points to the past as a reminder of the serious results of unbelief and false teaching.
You need to contend for the faith for the sake of your own daily walk with Christ. You need to be on your guard. Follow your Master and Lord, your Savior, Jesus Christ. We find out how in Jude 1:1-4.
Believers in Jesus need to contend for the faith for the sake of their own daily walk with Christ. The temptation to compromise the truth of God’s Word is ever-present. But if you will keep humbling yourself before the Word of God daily, following your Master and Savior, Jesus Christ, you will be strengthened with God’s help, to contend for the faith
Believers in Jesus are not left to their own failing wisdom and failing strength to understand and obey God’s Word. The Helper, the Holy Spirit lives in the believer to help them understand, illuminating the truth of God’s Word in the heart and mind of the believer in Jesus.
There is joy and contentment for believers in Jesus who treasure God’s grace, who bask in and drink in and enjoy God’s unmerited favor because of the finished work of Jesus for sinners. Saints in Christ learn contentment when they remember whose they are and learn to treasure God’s grace.
The Bible calls believers in Jesus to be generous givers and those who learn to give from the heart find the contentment that only God can give. When it comes to your giving, what God desires of you above all is that you give with the right motives. And when you do, then you will know the blessing of contentment.
The filling of the Holy Spirit will change your life. When the Holy Spirit controls you because you aren’t quenching and resisting His control, He will not leave you unchanged. And that will be for your good and for His glory.
You will only have contentment when you rely on the all-sufficient Christ to give you His strength as you obey Him in the face of difficulty, even when your strength is all gone.
In the life of a believer in Jesus, the Holy Spirit works to produce spiritual fruit

The Holy Spirit teaches the Believer using His Word. It’s important to understand this because if you don’t you will be tempted to think that you should be getting a vision or sign from God whenever He wants us to do something. That is not how the Bible describes the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer.

There is rest for God’s people because their future is in His hands. We can work hard to secure a future for ourselves, and work is necessary. But it was never meant to secure us the way God does when we trust Him and follow His Word. In Isaiah 45 we learn to see how God gives rest to His people.

God’s children need good examples to follow. God’s children should also be learning to be good examples others can imitate as they follow Christ. But there is also the need to learn to avoid sinful examples. Philippians 3:18-19 warns and shows us ways to identify examples not to follow.

Living the Christian life and being single-minded in our devotion to Christ isn’t easy. We will stumble and falter at times. But God has given us Christ-like examples to help us. As adult children of God, you will likely find that you fear some things that might happen to you. It’s human nature. But God reminds us that He is always near and that He is ready to help us. We can see that in how God tells His chosen and loved people, Israel that He will never leave them.

In the passage before us, we will hear Paul compare the Christian life to running a race. This is necessary and good for us to hear. If your faith is in Jesus Christ you have entered a long-distance marathon. The Christian life is not a sprint to the finish. It is a way of living in which we are to keep trusting in Christ, we must keep pressing on until God calls us home to our eternal home in heaven.

Throughout the Bible, God shows us who He is. There should be no confusion in the world over who God is. But at times people will say, "We all worship the same God." Many people live under the illusion that all good people go to heaven. Some assume that if you just live a life that’s good enough, God will have to let you into His heaven someday. But that is not what the Bible teaches.

Our foundation for unity in the church is Jesus himself. As we look to Jesus and His Word we’ll learn that for unity to grow and thrive in the church we’ll need to pursue love and truth. Follow along as we look at how the Bible teaches us to do this.

Believers in Jesus put no confidence in the flesh. We can put no confidence in what we bring to the gift of salvation through faith in Christ alone. As we look at Philippians 3:2-3 we’ll hear a clear warning and we’ll see three identifying characteristics of true believers in Jesus.

If division in the church is dangerous and Jesus prayed for the unity of His followers and the Spirit moved Paul to plead with the church to be unified, what else does God’s Word say that helps us understand why the church must work toward unity and why it is so needful for us as Christ’s followers? There is a thread of rejoicing in the Lord that weaves throughout the Bible. In Philippians 3:1 we hear Paul calling believers to rejoice in the Lord. In fact, the overarching theme of Philippians is one of joy. Follow along as we examine why rejoicing in the Lord is so important for believers in Jesus.

A good example is a powerful tutor in the Christian life. The Bible is full of examples to follow. In the passage before us Timothy is that example. Let’s consider how Paul shows us the example of Timothy who points us to Christ.

The spiritual battle is fought mainly in what we think — it’s being fought over what we believe to be true. What we truly believe will determine how we live. We return to Ephesians 6 to see how God equips believers for the battle for the mind.

Many Christians have a feeling that following Jesus shouldn’t be painful and costly, but only happy and profitable. So when we face the difficulties of life and the difficulties of taking a stand for Jesus Christ and our legs wobble under the weight of it all, we don’t understand how we are to have joy in the midst of it all. Is there joy to be found in sacrifice? Let’s look to Philippians 2:17-18.

Death is an unpleasant topic for most people. For many, there is uncertainty and fear of death. Even many in the church don’t like to think or speak of death. The resurrection of Jesus from the dead should change all that for all whose hope is only in Him. This Easter Sunday we turned to 1 Corinthians 15 to see the realities of the resurrection.

When we arrive at Philippians 2:14 we find that “working out your own salvation”, living out your faith in Jesus, gets very practical. The message from Paul here is simple: stop grumbling! Paul is taking head-on the sin of complaining. And yes, complaining is a sin and we need to be quick to repent of it when we are guilty of it.

What is unity? We hear a lot of talk in political circles of unity these days. We should all be unified we’re told. But what is unity? As believers in Jesus, the church needs to understand what unity is. Let's see how the Bible speaks to this in Philippians 2:1-2.

Believers still need to be prepared to suffer for the cause of Christ. We haven’t had to face the severe kinds of suffering for the sake of Christ that many throughout history have faced or even in other parts of the world face today. Let's look at Philippians 1:28-30 to see how Gospel unity in the church will prepare us with the courage to suffer for the cause of Christ.
