Hello everyone and welcome back to my newly revamped channel, Comfort & joy-Business minded thinking
Why you may ask did I revamp my channel once again. Well let me explain I have been struggling to find exactly what my niche is because there are so many things that I love to do. As I was developing what I thought my niche was, my family and I suffered a devastating blown…my husband got diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Without getting into a long emotional story, my husband lost his battle to cancer on October 30th, 2021.
My daughters and I were crushed and to tell you the truth we still are. I don’t think it’s something we will ever get over. As much as I want to lay in the bed with my sheets rolled over my face, my husband won’t let me…You see I know my husband and I know he would be kicking me in the ass saying suck it up buttercup, you got work to do. In that moment I realized what my new niche would be, that resonates with me more than anything else, and that was showing what life is like with my daughters and I and how we live life after the death of my husband.
My goal for this podcast show is to bring people together whom have gone through tough obstacles and how it was those tough obstacles that lead to you finding your comfort and joy.
There is no doubt that my daughters and I struggle on a daily basis…they say that it takes a village, it is my hope that we come together and be each other’s village so that we can thrive and persevere as a people so that we can make our dreams a reality.
I’ve been getting back into the groove of entrepreneurship…as a widower there is a lot that I’m dealing with and trying to figure it all out is a challenge. I know that there are many out there who can relate.
5 stages of grief what are they: Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. I want to go in depth at looking at all of these stages. If you want to weigh in on any of these stages, please reach out to me via Instagram. My handle is in the description of this episode, my handle is comfort.n.joy-the madrid girls.
Send me a private message and we will schedule a time to chat.
A new episode will be out once a week every Wednesday starting Wednesday March 16th. I look forward to the next episode starting with the first stage of grief “Denial” And remember it takes a village, lets be each other’s comfort & joy. In last weeks episode we talked about different streams of income and why having different streams of income is not just important for your everyday entrepreneur, but it should be a priority for the everyday individual. I used the phrase not putting your eggs all in one basket. The perfect example of that is looking at today and seeing so many businesses shutting down because of this awful pandemic.
The world is unpredictable, businesses are unpredictable, which means you need to have many streams of income because everything is unpredictable and you want to put yourself in the best possible position.
On Todays show we have Marlin Thompson who will talk about his different streams of income and how they have benefitted him.

Having different streams of income is so important especially as an entrepreneur.
Have you heard of the saying don’t put your eggs all in one basket? This is very important to understand.
Let’s say you start a retail business where you sell womens apparel. It flourishes, it is doing so amazing and you feel like you are on top of the world.
Then all of a sudden a pandemic hits Covid 19 and that one store that you opened up where you absolutely depend on customers coming to your store physically, now has to close. You haven’t yet set up an online store, so that isn’t an option for you right now.
This is the case for many businesses right now, where all of their eggs where put into this one business and now you can literally see your business sinking deeper than the titanic.
Passive Income? What is it? Passive income can be defined as a source of income that one is receiving that is not from an employer or contractor.

Hello and welcome back to my podcast Lets do business. If you are just tuning in then know that this show is all about entrepreneurship, being your own boss; There are many tips and tricks on being a successful entrepreneur and today we will be talking about one of those tips.
Finding your Niche. What is Niche you may ask? According to Oxford Dictionary niche is
a comfortable or suitable position in life or employment.
So for example:
"he is now a partner at a leading law firm and feels he has found his niche"
So in other words niche is finding your passion, something that you are good at and feel comfortable with. Something that you can do everyday for the rest of your life.
It is so important I think as an entrepreneur to find your niche. This allows you to narrow in on your passion and simplify it so that it has the potential of growing beyond your wildest dreams. There is a saying that an online esl teacher uses where she says “niche down to blow up” I find this to be extremely beneficial to understand as an entrepreneur, but also the absolute truth.
As an entrepreneur, you have so many ideas, at times you will feel compelled to juggle them all. But the problem you will eventually drop one of those ideas or multiple ones and you will lose focus. It’s okay to have many ideas, but it’s important to focus on that one thing and develop it in a way to expand it. If it doesn’t work out, then you go to your next idea, focus on it and develop it to expand it. What am I saying here, For example
I Love online teaching, Online teaching is my niche. But within online teaching there are sub categories, I’m able to expand online teaching by breaking it off into segments. For example: I sell my worksheets that I create for my classes, I am currently building my website to start selling my courses. Online teaching is all about being your own boss, so I created a podcast about entrepreneurship that will not just talk about my experience as being an online teacher, but will let other entrepreneurs be heard.
So when you find your niche, you should be able to break down that niche into different segments that will be different streams of income.

Hello and welcome back to my podcast Lets do business. If you are just tuning in then know that this show is all about entrepreneurship, being your own boss; That sounds so exhilarating everytime I hear “being your own boss.” It’s about doing what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur. There are many tips and tricks on being a successful entrepreneur and today we will be talking about one of those tips.
Lets talk about branding. What does it mean to brand yourself one may ask? Well think of a shoe company, let's say this shoe company has exquisite taste, great looking shoes that you could wear any day of the week. You are having a hard time deciding which shoe you want to buy. A friend of yours shows you this catalog that’s all about shoes. These shoes are just as amazing as the shoes you saw, but you decided to go with the shoes in the catalog because they are Steve Maddens. Steve Madden is a business man that designs and markets shoes for men and women. He has a very credible representation for shoes and apparel.
When you brand yourself or the product that you are trying to sell, you are essentially building a credible representation for your brand that people will buy or follow you to get more and more of what you are selling or delivering. In other words you make yourself stand out from the crowd by making a name for yourself.
On today's show I have Bharggavi Ssayee
Bharggavi Ssayee is a Brand/Social media Marketer who runs paid ads on Facebook, YouTube, Google, and Amazon. She will be able to give you a behind the scenes look at how branding reels in your audience to buy your products..

Welcome back to my podcast Lets do Business.
My podcast is all about finding what you are good at or niching down and turning what your passion is into a successful business.
We will continuously put out tips and tricks to give you the best entrepreneurial experience.
The notion that whatever happens in the past stays in the past, hmmm we can just go ahead and throw that out the window, especially when we look at vintage/collectible items. When we look at fashion from the 1950’s, 70’s, 80’s, we have seen how those trends have made a comeback in one way or another.
I love the ability of not reinventing the wheel, but simply adding to what is already there. This is a great concept for an entrepreneur to understand. As an entrepreneur you never really come up with something that is “brand spanking” new, instead you are adding to something that you are passionate about and creating innovative ways to broadcast your new spin on a vintage idea.
Fashion trends that have made a comeback might have not physically changed in appearance, but how the vintage item is sold is dramatically different from the past.
Because of advancements in technology and the online world, as an entrepreneur you are able to reach a further audience by selling vintage clothing/apparel and profit more.

My podcast is all about finding what you are good at or niching down and turning what your passion is into a successful business.
We will continuously put out tips and tricks to give you the best entrepreneurial experience.
Ok so at the end of my last show we talked about my dad being an inspiration of mine when it comes to being an entrepreneur. We all have our inspirations, my parents struggles have definitely inspired me to be an entrepreneur. I’m going to take an excerpt from my blog, which I will also leave the link to my website in my description of this podcast. I wrote:
“:My mom, my dad, my grandfather, my grandmother worked 2 sometimes 3 jobs doing a job that they weren’t happy with all to make ends meat. Living paycheck to paycheck doing the best that they could do to support their family. Sometimes for dinner we would have a bowl of cereal, sometimes we didn’t have any milk so we had to use water in place of the milk for are cereal. My mom would be so tired that she wouldn’t even eat, she would just go to sleep. My dad would pay for that extra school item that was needed instead of getting himself good quality shoes that was needed for his job, you know to replace the ones that have holes in them.
Raise your hand if you remember seeing your parents go through the above statements. I know that a few of those statements are true for me. As hard as it might be to see you parents struggling to support you and your siblings, it also serves as a basis of what you want to be for your future. My parents did the absolute best that they could do in raising my brother and I.”
I’m sure many of you who are listening, have your hands raised.
I then went on to say:
My dad always had that entrepreneur way of thinking. In fact he started multiple businesses in his entrepreneur journey while my brother and I were kids and sometimes he would literally take us along for the ride.
So I’m now going to pass the mic over to my dad, and dad I would like you to introduce yourself, your name, businesses you have started and what your inspiration was?

Hello and welcome to my podcast Lets Do business.
My podcast is all about finding what you are good at or niching down and turning what your passion is into a successful business.
2020 has been a crazy year. But for a minute, let’s look at what “2020” represents when we actually hear it. Before when I would hear 2020, I would think of the news show with Barbara Walters who is an American broadcaster and Journalist. Or I would even think of the expression of “In hindsight you always see in 2020 meaning you always get a better picture of things after the event has already happened.
Now going back to Barbara Walters who is a Journalist which one can say is an entrepreneur. She took her passion for what she loves to do and she shared it with the world.
I look back in my life and in hindsight, I can see 20/20 because I have been an entrepreneur all of my life. I’ve always had a drive, a passion to take something I love and create or build off of it and share it with the world.
Some of the greatest successful people are entrepreneurs. 2020 has definitely been the year where you have seen entrepreneurship come alive. People are honing in on what they are passionate about and taking what they know and sharing it.
Stay tuned for future episodes on my podcast: Lets do business of entrepreneurs all over who share their experience of entrepreneurship. Next episode I will be interviewing none other than my dad James Barton Sutton. My dad has always inspired me as an entrepreneur. At one time my dad had 3 jobs trying to support his family. He always had that drive to have his own business and be his own boss.
