A little rain isn't a bad thing: we'll see some showers today. There are plenty of events and food specials to enjoy at this time of year and a few deadlines not to miss!
Where to start? Wonderful weather and lots of awesome events to participate in today and through 'til Tuesday! Bon weekend! ^_^
I hope you didn't get fried in yesterday's balmy temperatures: on the hill or off it.There's plenty happening this week: with the next episode dropping on Friday! ^_^
Yesterday wasn't too shabby eh? Sure, it was lumpy in spots: you had to be light on your feet but for this time of year after such a warm up, with fantastic visibility? We'll take it eh? Enjoy the Glacier today is my recommendation ;)
Winter returns for a couple days today with a dusting having already compiled at the Snow Ruler this morning: expect stormy conditions today and hopefully 20cm of fresh by tomorrow morning with a lowering freezing level. Huzzah!
Mornin'! Here's hoping you had a great weekend and have a great week ahead! There's tonnes happening: events and weather wise! ^_^Keep your ears peeled for this week's Coast Mountain Brewing Secret Code Word!
There's another doozy of a sunny day for the books ahead! I'm embracing the Spring Sun before a return of some wintery conditions on the hill early next week. Keeps your eyes peeled to the Whistler Pulse's Instagram for an on-hill Treasure Hunt for a pair of Pit Viper Goggles O_O
Mornin'! Another firm spring morning awaits those that ski early today: the sweet spot for corny, granulated snow is a narrow window before it turns to mash potatoes. Happy hunting! ^_^
Hold your horses: the freezing level really dropped overnight and it will be suuuuper firm this morning - give the runs some time to thaw today ;) The 72 Hour film maker showdown is on tonight; Canosis is doing a pop-up set at the Umbrella Bar at 1:30pm; and Crystal Chair remains closed until further notice.
Woahhhh: it was 16 degrees at Pig Alley yesterday!! Expect warm (but not that warm) temperatures on the hill today and a colder snap overnight that will bring firm morning groomers tomorrow. Wear Sunscreen: Spring riding is here this week. Crystal chair remains closed today due to a mechanical issue and Fitzsimmons Chair will close at 11am midweek now to prepare for the opening day of the Bike Park on May 15th. Happy Easter Monday!
Happy Easter, Powder Bunnies and Snow Hounds ^_^ Don't forget your sunscreen this weekend ;)
Another 9cm overnight after a surprise sleeper pow day yesterday? Yes please!Happy Thursday Team! ^_^
Brrrrr - yesterday was Chilbo Baggins up the hill eh? Today will be less cold but also cloudier: as a low pressure band moves in overnight to deliver some snow! There's some fun grooming to ski today ^_^Happy Tuesday
3 Be super wary and avoidant of gnarly refrozen avalanche debris in steeper terrain - sheesh! See ya up there: dress warmly and wear sunscreen!
It might be Spring but Snow has returned to the valley!Tell those you love that you do, often. Tomorrow isn't promised. xox
I hope you had a great weekend! How good was it to see sunshine after such a Grey week, eh? We have plenty more Vitamin D to absorb today before we receive some snow tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a big dump!
The rain continues in the Valley and to the top today. Womp womp. There's plenty of indoor events to occupy us however ^_^ Happy Thursday!
The rain to the top continues with the freezing level at the Peak and Horstman Hut again today. If you're heading up... I wish you luck. Today would be a great day to take off the hill and to launder your winter gear with a tech DWR wash ;) Happy Wednesday! ^_^
Another 2cm sleeper day today ;) Get up there Team: yesterday was under reported in the Alpine and super fun. See ya up there ^_^
Just 2cm overnight eh? I hear Avi Bombs this morning however and high winds last night would've created deeper pockets - let's go storm skiing ;)
Another 3cm of dust on crust fell last night but don't worry: March madness kicks off with 10cm+ of fresh snow today and more overnight and especially tomorrow through Thursday - and it will be great quality cold smoke too! Let's make the most of it: it really warms up next week! ^_^
The first of this week's freshies fell last night with a seemingly under reported 3cm but look out: it will be dust on rain freeze crust! Play cautiously and enjoy some smooth groomers is my advice ;)
3cm of dust on crust today but there were still great, soft pockets and chalky, grippy snow 'up-top' yesterday - so get creative ;) There are more CMs in the forecast but light amounts this weekend, followed by a lowering freezing level to valley bottom by Monday morning and confidence in next week's accumulations to still solidify but here' hoping for some March Madness! Ha. It's International Women's Day on Sunday (which is also when the clocks change permanently)! Hopin' to see ya at the Coast Mountain Brewing Taphouse to celebrate on Sunday between 2 and 5pm ^_^Bon weekend!
What a morning yesterday was eh? Wow. Thanks for sharing some turns Eric! ^_^Hopin' you got yours and that you saved some energy for some more pow hunting up there today!Happy Thursday! ^_^
We have a high freezing level storm day on our hands Folks (1700m this morning with 70kmh+ winds in the high alpine) but hopefully it lowers to 1200m. Happy Tuesday ^_^
3 Goggle tans will continue to get a power up today before the most snow forecast for this week starts falling tomorrow. Slip, slop, slap on sunscreen ;) Happy Monday ^_^
Well... This wind storm brought only that at the snow stake: wind. There should be freshies up top and definitely in wind-loaded leeward terrain. sunshine is inbound tomorrow for the weekend with a rising freezing level on Sunday!Bon weekend ^_^
Woah! 157kmh winds at 7th Heaven? Sheesh! Don't be expecting the majority of the Alpine to open today - maybe Glacier Express, or the Whistler T-bars. No fresh snow overnight but hopefully some storm snow compiles mid-mountain today. Happy hunting!
3 Expect low vis and increasing winds as this storm moves in today and delivers snow through tomorrow. We have a base of 141cm on Blackcomb at 1600m and Bear Paw has been groomed for the first time this season on Whistler! Happy hump Day ^_^
37cm? Pack your snorkel; your friends; and snacks - there will be a lot of waiting today ;) See ya up there! ^_^
3 In today's Local Lounge we're joined by the fantastic Rhawnie Vallins: Board Member of Whistler Rocks!! ^_^Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Another 3cm overnight to compile above some super soft areas - powder hunting is great right now - and lift-lines were super reasonable yesterday! However: it's super dooper cold up there! Protect any exposed skin and layer up!! Brrrrrr
No fresh snow overnight but it is Coolio Englesias up there again today with an Alpine high of -9 forecast! And... Heavenly/Brownlie's Basin is groomed?!?! Happy Hump Day ^_^
What a weekend eh? Sure - it's super busy but pow hunting has been so glorious after such a drought!!! Definitely layer up these next few days: brrrrrr. And happy Family day! ^_^
5cm?? It will be more for sure: get up there!!LOTS happening this weekend, where to start? If you have tickets to tonight's sold out Red and White Party for Ski Patrol at the GLC, enjoy! Thanks for listening. Did you hear the Coast Mountain Brewing Secret Code word? Be the first to let me know when to win a CMB Gift Card! ^_^
The stoke is back Baby! Yesterday's high alpine pow (even Fraggle Rock was a go) has me stoked for winter again and I hope today's bluebird conditions fill your cup too! ^_^Happy Hump Day
Ha - what a mixed bag this weekend was eh? But I really hope you got a bluebird powder fix yesterday too. We're due more snow (small amounts) to compile atop Saturday's dump this week - huzzah - and with cooler temperatures than we've had (which isn't difficult). It's a start!Happy Monday!
Today the Olympics opens; Tomorrow we have snow incoming above 1400m (hopefully); and on Sunday, it's the Superbowl! Bon weekend! ^_^
Temperatures stayed above freezing last night; which should make for some buttery groomers first thing?! Winds are high in the Alpine today as another ridge of high pressure moves in bringing clear skies until the weekend.Keep your eyes peeled on Instagram for a Coast Mt Brewing Gift Card Treasure Hunt today ^_^
0 degrees at the Roundhouse; +1.5 at the Rendezvous and the Catskinner chair is closed today and tomorrow eh? Woof. Spring conditions continue up top with sunshine arriving tomorrow!Keep your eyes posted on Instagram for a Coast Mountain Brewing Gift Card Treasure Hunt! ^_^
Merh. 4cm and a freezing level at 1600m? There's a few more CMs due to fall today but it ain't anything to write home about if you ask me, ha. Be careful in higher elevation terrain in low visibility: lurking debris is a major hazard in the alpine and conditions change rapidly given the high (and rising this week) freezing levels. Sunny Spring skiing is incoming midweek with a sky-high freezing level punching to well above 3000m. Pack sunscreen! ;)
7cm of sleeper pow but with a freezing level of 1700m and high alpine winds, means there's a narrow banded sweet spot today, ha!
4cm of new snow!!! That's the first snowfall in a few weeks: huzzah! It will however, be dust on crust. We have a bulletproof melt-freeze crust underneath it. Take 'er easy and I don't recommend venturing off piste until there's a lot more snow.Happy Wednesday ^_^
Brrrrr. -9 at the Peaks this morning with a northerly wind direction and it's bluebird! Expect high pressure conditions but milder temps to persist through the weekend and early next week.
Happy Thursday! This high pressure is due to stick around for some time: have you given your gear a good tune? ;)
Spring conditions continue... Are you heading up the hill for some social skiing with sharp edges? Or enjoying some downtime off the Mountains? Either way, Happy Wednesday! ^_^
Conditions will be firmer today with on-mountain temperatures finally getting below freezing in spots but inverted temps still persist in others. No snow expected until at least January 28th at this point - enjoy the sunshine! ^_^
Another Groundhog day for Mayuary Spring Skiing today with slightly cooling temps forecast for the week and hopefully, a pattern shift on Sunday and a return of some precip. Until then, wear sunscreen and look out for some icy, high traffic areas where it's hard to get your edges in (the traverse to Peak chair from the roundhouse and other bottleneck areas). Happy Monday! ^_^
It will be firm this morning with some cooling overnight, so expect Spring riding conditions through 'til at least Wednesday: it will be a perpetual search for the groomer sweet spot on the hill. Sunscreen comes highly recommended! Thanks for your understanding on taking a break from the Podcast tomorrow on my Birthday ;) See ya on the Hill! ^_^
We've got sunshine laying up today and due to stay through the weekend in a big way; inverted temperatures with +7 degrees recorded in spots on the mountain this morning; but there will be some low lying valley cloud again this morning. The alpine didn't open yesterday but spring corn and slush should be expected on groomers, which is where you'll want to ski ;)
If you braved yesterday for confirmation on what 9 cementimetres looks and feels like, bravo! The biblical amount of rain from this Pineapple Express appears to have ended and we'll have sunny breaks. and very warm on mountain temps (+4 degrees) today; with more sunshine on Thursday onwards. Stay safe on Spring-like groomers today ^_^
Wasn't Saturday awesome in the treeline? It won't be today with the freezing level having shot up to 1900m. There's a rainfall warning for Howe Sound with upwards of 150mm forecast in the next 24 hours; teh Duffey Lake Road is closed today too; and dangerously heavy snow conditions will exist at all elevations. Stay safe and dry Folks! ^_^
Tokum is groomed for the first time today! Just 3cm overnight by the look of the snow ruler with more snow to fall tomorrow and in particular on Sunday but with an increasing freezing level to be wary of/plan for!Did you hear this week's code word to win a 4 pack of delicious Coast Mountain Beers??Bon weekend! ^_^
Mornin'!Just 3cm recorded after operating hours yesterday but moderate wind speeds from the southwest will have created some deeper drifts in leeward zones. See ya up there!
Just 7cm recorded overnight and 15cm in the last 24 hours but it felt deeper than that on the hill yesterday. With such strong SW winds (100kmh at times) and teh alpine being closed yesterday, north facing features will have loaded nicely today but be cautious of wind slabs even in bounds. Happy Pow hunting today!
Only a couple of CMs fell overnight despite snowflakes falling early yesterday evening. Today snowfall will be heavy: with 15cm forecast for the valley and wind speeds already upwards of 115kmh in the high alpine!!! Today's alpine (1800m) high of -6 will add to a very wintery experience indeed ;)
Here's hopin' you had a great weekend! The temperatures really dropped overnight and we have snow in the forecast tonight and through the week, with a freezing level at valley bottom through the week before it rises on the weekend. Let's get after it but be super cautious for out of bounds travel, given the fluctuating temperatures and heavy snow we've had overlying some surface hoar and a melt freeze cycle! ^_^
Happy New Year!!After a warm week, we have some new snow arriving tonight through the weekend. It will be compiling above a firm melt freeze crust on south facing slopes however: dust on crust - until there is enough to not feel the firm bottom. Let's hope there's enough to reset the firm conditions before next week's cooler temps and fewer forecast accumulations.
As forecasted: there's a temperature inversion today with temperatures of above 2 Degrees at 1800m. It's a sunny groomer day ; Crabapple was groomed overnight; and QR credit card fraud occurred in a few Whistler Parking Lots on Dec 27th - check your statements!
Hopin' you had a terrific weekend and stayed warm on Saturday! Brrrr. You won't need to layer up tomorrow when the freezing level shoots up to above the Peaks though! Sheesh.
13cm?? It looks more like 20cm on the snow ruler this morning and will be deeper in leeward terrain! Glacier Chair cracked yesterday; the Alpine was wind pressed and catchy yesterday; Blackcomb ski-out to Base 2 is open; and today will be stormy with another 10cm expected throughout the day. Happy Boxing Day ^_^
Merry Christmas! Whether you're enjoying the great snow; or working your ass off this holiday period - and/or anything in between - I hope you find time for yourself and others this Festive period! ^_^I'll hope to see ya on the Hill tomorrow - no Christmas Day episode - but I will be back to chat to ya on Friday Morning.
Crystal Chair was so sweet yesterday! Yes: the line ups are big - so I highly recommend skiing in good company ;) The ski out isn't officially open yet but some are braving their rock skis, rather than downloading.Take it easy though! It's a tiring time of year, let alone with all the Pow we're shredding on early season legs. It's okay to miss a day and we should be regularly investing in our bodies with some stretching and naps! Ha.
Hopin' you had a great weekend riding freshies! Yes: it's busy and to be expected with no ski out and alpine lifts closed due to gnarly winds. Expect stormy conditions today too and enjoy the lift line chats! ^_^Happy Holidays! ;)
5cm overnight but roughly 20cm in the past 24hrs with more in wind loaded north westerly/easterly facing features and more snow on the way this weekend. The Alpine didn't open yesterday... See ya up there! ^_^
Yesterday was fun if you ask me: early season, leg-conditioning pow and beautiful skies. Yes, the lines were the longest I've ever been in at 7th Heaven but as long as you're in good company and layered well - it's a great place to be and the more snow we get at lower elevations this week, the more terrain will open up to alleviate the queues. Science. And Maths. Today will be stormy and tomorrow morning will be hella busy - it's the holidays. Plan and temper your expectations accordingly ;)
3 17cm and cooler temps? Worth checking out mid-mountain (cautiously) but high Alpine winds this morning should temper our expectations for high mountain access today. Cooler temps and more snow at lower elevations is on the way however, finally!
7th opened yesterday; Peak did not; and Vail announced it's intention to replace the Showcase T-bar with a Quad next season! Bon weekend! ^_^
Cooler temps, light winds and a break in precipitation means a clearer day today and here's hoping Peak cracks! Happy Thursday ^_^
11cm? You'd be forgiven for getting excited but with the freezing level at 1800m this morning: be prepared for elephant snot; pineapple express schmoo; glue; whatever you want to call it - it ain't champagne pow up there today ;) Expect wet conditions on the hill and especially in the valley and on the Sea to Sky today with 50-70mm of rain predicted to fall by Midnight.
Woof - that freezing level really rose yesterday and those wind speeds in the Alpine?! Sheesh!Today will be a calmer and brighter day with only 7cm forecast to fall after operating hours today.
Sheesh - that download queue on Whistler was something yesterday eh? Oooof. It's suuuuuper stormy up there today (120kmh gust from the south at the Horstman Hut) and it will really dump after operating hours. The freezing level is due to be high today and tomorrow (1800m), so expect heavy snow up top and roughly 50mm of rain in the valley!Happy Monday! ^_^
3 Harmony opened yesterday and 7th is rumoured to open this weekend, if not today! The WFF continues; Alpine Cafe are hosting a WAG fundraiser on Sunday; Whole Lotta Led are playing Dusty's next Saturday; and the Bespoke market is at the Audain on Saturday and Sunday! ^_^
Oooooh: 4cm! And the Alpine is rumoured to be opening soon ;)There are more centimetres on the way this weekend and especially on Monday and Tuesday! Huzzah Also on the way... Is the Whistler Pulse's 5th Anniversary Party at Coast Mountain Brewing on December 16th at 4pm!!! There will be an awesome raffle to fundraise for WCSS and an opportunity for you to have your voice shared on the Podcast. I really hope to see you there! Happy Thursday!

Happy American Thanksgiving and hooray for Franz's and Emerald/Green chair spinning on Whistler now ^_^
How good was yesterday's unexpected constant flurry of soft snowflakes? Beautiful!Unfortunately the forecast is a little bleak for the next 10 days but the good news is that cold temperatures are going to allow our snowmaking Team the opportunity to compile some snow in key areas! Still just two runs open with no word on an opening date for Whistler just yet ^_^

Spring Skiing will be in full swing with sunny skies and warm temps through 'til Sunday from today! Lots is crackin' in terms of events: even before the WSSF kicks off this weekend! ^_^
What a difference a day can make, eh? Saturday was +15 in the valley!! Up top, temperatures remain pretty mild but are lowering today with precip expected until Wednesday morning; with a break in weather and more snow to fall Thursday.
Happy Friday Folks!Be sure to wear sun screen before rain and snow arrive on Sunday! <3
It's sunny up top - above the sea of valley cloud but the groomers will be hella firm this morning: give them time to soften is my recommendation! Happy April Fools Day ^_^
Mornin'! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and soaked up some sunshine yesterday? We have a lot more sun incoming at the latter end of the week but some grey and drizzly spring weather prior to Thursday.
There's fresh dust on crust this morning with more flurries on the way today; as well perhaps tomorrow with a lowering freezing level: so expect very variable spring conditions!!Take care of yourself and each other <3
Yesterday morning's sunshine was a welcome accompaniment to some crispy groomers! Today will fare differently: cloudy with precip ending this afternoon and the freezing level hovering around 1800m.Take care <3
It's waaaaarm! We look to have some good visibility and broken skies this morning before more precip arrives this afternoon. Expect very variable spring conditions on the hill! Take it easy <3
Well... I hear mixed reports from yesterday's wet conditions. It's above freezing to the tippy tops today: so prepare for sticky, slushy, corny, variable spring snow conditions - and wear goretex!
We knew the warm up was coming but yesterday's afternoon schmoo was a reminder that the hill will feel a lot different this week: be careful!!
Bon weekend Team! Let's get after it before the freezing level shoots up on Monday/Tuesday ;) Life is unpredictable. Express yourself often and ride with friends. <3
Greybird and flurries expected throughout today after a stunning day yesterday: with more snow on the way!But let's make the most of it before the freezing level shoots up on Monday!
What a beautiful morning <3 There's a tiny localized dusting on the snow ruler but it's gonna be a bluebird morning with some increased cloud this arvo ^_^Wear sunscreen!

It duuuuuuumped all day in the valley yesterday!! 21cm is initially recorded overnight since 2:30pm yesterday but I think we can all bank on there being a lot more! Ride safely with friends and stretch ;)
What a weekend eh? It's gonna take our amazing Ski Patrol teams sometime to do Avi control today. Ride with friends <3
I think we can safely say another 10cm fell overnight and we're due another roughly 10cm to fall today!! <3 Ride with friends; stretch; stay hydrated ^_^
March Madness is onnnnnnn!!! What a gorgeous winter scene in the Valley this morning <3 Which means 10cm+ of fresh to get after again today, with plenty more on the way!See ya up there but pace yourself and ride with friends ;)

Freshies!? And the snow line looks a healthy lower level than we'd hoped for with recent warm temps: I'll check it out and maybe see ya up there! ;)
Today will be cloudy; with drizzle and potentially snowflakes in the valley this evening! Happy Tuesday!
It's gorgeously sunny above the valley cloud this morning and will be tomorrow too: wear sunscreen! On Sunday we'll have a return of some cloud and showers but warm alpine and valley temps are here for the weekend: plan for slushy, variable, spring-like conditions! Bon weekend! ^_^
Mild temps, moderate to high alpine winds, and greybird this morning but with a prediction of a sunnier afternoon. Spring skiing conditions!
Hopin' you had a terrific day yesterday making the most of the fresh snow before today's freezing level spikes! Wear sunscreen! ^_^
I hope you got the goods yesterday 'cause Sally and I struck out on our Alpine run. C'est la Vie!Ride safe <3 The freezing level shoots up tomorrow but don't let your desire for pow today lure you into dangerous terrain - our snowpack is heavy; wind effected and the Avi risk is very real right now!
This storm has a higher freezing level than we'd like - sure - but it's snow nonetheless: adjust your expectations accordingly and ride safely ;)
T'is a misty morning! Expect a break in the stormy conditions today before more snow and gustier wind speeds return overnight in to tomorrow.Happy Thursday! ^_^
Well would ya look at that: freshies!!! <3It will turn to rain in the valley today; with the freezing level fluctuating around 1400m; and alpine winds to be strong and gusting today - it's storming!! Bring it ^_^
I remembered my alarm today ;)Hopin' you had a terrific time in the sun yesterday too <3 Greybird today but change is good: flurries tonight and tomorrow and hopefully a good dump this weekend!

Another sunny day to enjoy and with warmer temperatures - huzzah! We'll see more cloud tomorrow and hopefully more flurries than forecast. Bon Wednesday! ^_^
The cold snap continues but is due to lessen it's grip tomorrow. Today: wind speeds in the high alpine over 30kmh from the North East will make it feel even colder than the air temp of -16: prepare - especially if you're spectating the Invictus Games on hill; at the Sliding Centre; or in the Callaghan!
Hopin' you had a terific weekend? ^_^LOTS covered in today's episode: the arctic outflow continues; the Invictus Games are in full swing; and Valentine's Day approaches!
The cool air temperatures continue: although milder this weekend than we experienced earlier this week! The Invictus Games start on Monday but Live Music starts Sunday in the Village Square at 2pm. Stay warm and safe. Bon weekend! <3
You've guessed it: the cold temperatures continue - particularly in the valley to start your day. Happy Thursday ^_^
The Arctic outflow continues but it feels less frigid in the Alpine where the winds are less - ha!Happy Wednesday ^_^
It's still Coolio Englesias with the Arctic outflow sticking around today: Brrrrr. Take care out there! <3
Brrrrr - it's Chilbo Baggins in dem der Hills!!!In fact: in the Valley this morning it also feels like -20 with windchill. That's dangerously cold - take care of yourselves and each other <3
SNOW!!!! It looks more like 20cm this morning but it will feel shallow off Groomers today: be careful; off-piste ill-advised! Today's episode features special Guest Rebecca Mason/Parliament from Laugh out Live: sharing her passion for Comedy in our Community <3 Thanks Rebecca!Wishing you an awesome Pow filled weekend! ^_^
Yesterday was lovely on shaded, lesser frequented runs! Today we see the weather make a welcome change: with snow arriving this afternoon. Huzzah! Happy Thursday!
Today we have more sunshine to enjoy before a long-hoped for storm rolls in tonight and tomorrow <3 Bon Wednesday! ^_^
Head up the hill to warm up this morning ;) +2 at the Tippy tops and -9 in the Valley currently! Why not enjoy the Spring skiing before the Snow finally arrives Thursday eve?! HUZZAH!!!!
After a brief interlude: the sun returns today and an opportunity to enjoy another beautiful sunset on Whistler's currently frozen Lakes before Monday's warm conditions arrive! Listen in today for an opportunity to win TWO Skittour tickets for their Wednesday gig at the GLC!!!Wishing you a phenomenal weekend on the groomers ;)
Will we see a dusting on the snow ruler today? Maybe!Today will be cloudy before returning to regular sunny programming tomorrow.Happy Thursday! ^_^
Another day, another no-snow holla?! Hang tight for at least another week for fresh snow and be careful up there - it's slick in spots!
That bulletproof melt freeze crust is exactly that eh? Hope lingers on the horizon... precip (hopefully) is forecast beginning on Jan 28th. Until then: social groomers and sharp edges are everyone's recommendation. Happy Monday! ^_^
Brrrrrr - what a shift: +4 on Wednesday and -11 today!!Sunny skies and cold temperatures dominate over the weekend and dry January conditions for the foreseeable. Bon weekend! ^_^
It's another warm day on the hill with temperatures above freezing at all elevations this morning! We have a dusting incoming tomorrow and hopefully a change in weather and increased precip starting on Jan 24th!Happy Wedneaday! ^_^
The inverted temperatures continue which means grippy groomers up top! Today we're forecast a mix of sun and cloud again: mostly cloudy and the volume of skiers/boarders on the hill predicted to be Chilbo Baggins! ;)Happy cruisin'!
We're rocking inverted temperatures to ride in today: it will be warmer up top! We have a dusting forecast for Thursday but buckle up for no major precip for a while!Hopin' you had a terrific weekend and are taking the time for some R'n'R <3
17cm!! Those winds were blowing last night and the freezing level was high however... maybe keep your expectations low today ;) Have a great weekend! <3
Mornin'! How blinkin' great was that sunshine in the Alpine yesterday? <3 Today will be much cloudier with increasing winds and snow tonight!
Mornin'! How blinkin' great was that sunshine in the Alpine yesterday? <3 Today will be much cloudier with increasing winds and snow tonight!
Surprisingly grippy groomers yesterday eh?Take it easy and make sure your taking some time for yourself and your body ;)
What a day yesterday was eh? Today will be very different with its mixed air temperatures and cloud cover: expect groomers to be...varied.
As happy as I am to see the sun, today's freezing level can take a hike: not a spike to 2300 plus meters! Sigh. It is what it is! Enjoy the Vitamin D and layer down! ;)
Although we'll have flurries and variable visibility this weekend, the cool temps are maintaining great snow quality and you're gonna wanna utilize this window before the freezing level sky rockets, starting on Monday!See ya on lower Gear Jammer ;)
There's a dusting on the snow ruler but don't let that fool ya in to getting complacent: it's firm under foot on popular groomers due to recent volume! Expect greybird skies today and tomorrow with flurries and increased winds. Happy Thursday!
Mornin'! I know: I'm sorry for the scratchy and condensed episode today! <3I hope you're staying healthy and stretching after riding all this incredible pow! ^_^
Make sure you're getting some good rest at this exceptionally busy time of year <3 Wishing you a phenomenal weekend!
Hopin' you enjoyed time with friends and family yesterday or took some time for yourself. <3 More pow overnight: 13cm and a good freezing level for mid-mountain tree skiing but ski with friends and ride cautiously - with patience for longer lift lines ;)
Merry Christmas eve! ^_^Expect stormy/overcast conditions today and tomorrow and of course for the hill to be busy! <3 Wishing you a happy holidays and I'll be back with an episode on Thursday morning
Beware of black ice on the roads today! And beware of a rain crust at lower elevations today after 19cm rfell overnight! <3
A little wet yesterday afternoon eh? Well that freezing level doesn't really drop until Sunday: expect heavy and wet precip this weekend to be accompanied by high ridge-top winds: stormy! There is lots to keep you entertained, off the hill however ;)Bon weekend!
Get after it before the freezing level shoots up ;) And avoid going off piste below 1600m - that rain freeze crust could mess up your knees big time! Happy Thursday ^_^
30cm! Grab your friends, lesssssss go!However: anticipate heavy snow below the 1600m freezing level and still gusting alpine winds up to 60kmh!
What beautiful snow yesterday eh? We have plenty more incoming: with upwards of 25cm forecast to fall from around midday through to tomorrow morning - huzzah! However, today's storm comes with high alpine winds: so expect decreasing visibility for your ski day today and potential early closures for alpine lifts. Good luck winning the TWO tickets to Skiitour!! ^_^
I hope you got some pow wiggles over the weekend too! <3 Those potato chip flakes (nice terminology Austin) were so beautiful but be careful in the village today: it's very slick and icy in spots!Tune in tomorrow for your chance to win TWO Skiitour tickets!! ^_^
Fingers crossed for decent/moderate snow accumulations this weekend eh?Unfortunately there won't be an episode tomorrow.Wishing you a terrific weekend! ^_^
Another warm day on the hill but things are shaping up positively for a dump on Friday and Saturday <3
How gorgeous was yesterday's sunshine and sunset eh? Pfff. Yesterday's runs were firm and sporty, with a chance of sliding out on some icy patches. It is already above freezing at every elevation this morning, so expect runs to be firm and higher traffic areas to have more grip - the tin roof corduroy may chatter your teeth. Ha.
Sunshine returned yesterday after a super windy, warm, pineapple blitz on Friday and Saturday. Yesterday was sporty, with mostly dust on crust, but if you have sharp edges: today will be a great day for some social, sunny, groomer laps! ^_^
This incoming system is going to bring heavy precip; with a high freezing level that lowers on saturday night; high winds; and challenging conditions - think schmoo and don't wear it unless it's waterproof ;)Plan accordingly and be cautious in water soaked snow - protect your knees! <3 Bon weekend! ^_^
Mornin'! There's more sunshine to be had above the valley cloud bank today and spring conditions to boot ;)
I hope ypu're getting to soak up some sunshine on the slopes right now too. This can be an extra tough time of year for people and days like yesterday: reflecting on what brightens your life - really helps fill people's proverbial cup <3 Take care of yourselves and each other xAlso... CONTEST ALERT
Sunshine and warm Mountain temps are the trend for the next few days. See ya on the groomers!
Happy Friday! How's your body feeling after a solid week of riding? Stretching, maintenance and rest are key to a long and happy season ;)
Crystal chair opens today! How good was Harmony and its powder access yesterday? The recent cold temps have retained the snow quality in most areas but we found some sun effected spots yesterday and hoar frost in areas. Lets make the most of it before a high freezing level and high altitude rain arrives on Tuesday/Wednesday :/ Happy American Thanksgiving!
Harmony opens today and Crystal cracks on Blackcomb tomorrow - huzzah! ^_^Sorry for the later episode upload today: I'm readjusting to the early wake up calls and slept through today's - ha! That won't happen on a Pow day ;)

Well... err... yeah. Rain continues and although the Lahar looking slide at the bottom of Bear Paw and the Zig Zag pond skim are somewhat comical - the evacuation alert and state of emergency due to flooding in Pemberton; along with in Squamish is a major concern for our communities and friends. Sandbags are available at the 8020 Nesters Rd location in Whistler. Stay safe and reach out to those who might be effected <3
52.3mm of rain yesterday eh? Oooof. The freezing level remains high today and so do river levels! Stay safe and take 'er easy <3
Well... the sogginess continues today! Choo chooo. Today will be a challenge in staying dry for those of you heading up in to the warm temperatures and the heavy rain. How nice was that sunshine yesterday though?
Today's episode is a biggie: much like the incoming Pineapple Express. Womp womp! Special Guests Ed and Natasha Tatton join us in the Local Lounge today to chat about their incredible Sourdough Cookbook; here's wishing you a very Happy Pride Week and Australia Day; and look out for pot holes that will be filled with rain this weekend! <3
Freshies! Lessssss go. I'll take what we can get: especially before the weekend's warm front arrives! ;)
Yesterday was funnnnnnnn! No? Colder temperatures today and flurries expected this morning. Happy Wednesday! ^_^
Yesterday's varied snow conditions: sorbet; cement-imetres; firm, skied out icy patches; spring slush; should be expected again today with very similar freezing levels but today there's a nice 6cm of fresh to cruise on above 1600m!
Well... After Friday's beautiful storm day and cold snow: the weekend was... interesting! Good job we rise to a challenge eh? Lemonade anyone?Happy Monday! ^_^
What a difference a day makes (in temperature) eh?A few freshies fell overnight (5cm) and the snow coming our way (roughly 5cm Saturday and Sunday night forecast) will be wetter than what we've skied recently with the high freezing levels expected this weekend. Crabapple and School Marm were groomed last night! Huzzah ^_^
There's some freshies to hunt down today in the Whistler Alpine: as the northerly wind gives way to warmer, moister air from the south this afternoon with snow arriving and a rising freezing level too. There's currently an inversion however and air temps are a cold -16 at 1800m this morning! Ride with friends <3
Well... that was a chilly few days! Brrrr. Hopin' you're super well and hunted down some pow stashes over the weekend. <3
Ha. -30 at 1800m? Nah, I'm good thanks. -20 in the Valley is cold enough - add wind chill and you have yourself an incredibly frigid ski day with real risk of frost bite and hyperthermia. Ride and stay safe and warm! <3
Brrrrr. Cold weather, incoming today - but there's a nice 5cm atop today's groomers to enjoy according to this morning's stake. Dress warmly and protect your exposed skin!
Sunshine arrives this afternoon, along with a northerly outflow that will bring a temperature of -21 to the valley on Friday! Brrrrrrr. Plan accordingly and remember that the WCSS emergency shelter is available to anyone who needs it when the temperature drops below -10! <3
What a Weekend eh? Wow!!I hope you had a terrific one! We have more snow on the way tonight: so a low vis, increasingly stormy day is a foot. And likely ice skating on the Local lakes by the weekend?!
Another 4cm overnight on the stake today and yeah: we're all frothing for tonight's dump! Bon weekend! ^_^
A few more centimetres fell overnight and the freezing level will fall tonight with a decent dump forecast for Friday evening! ^_^Yesterday's alpine skiing was fun with that afternoon visibility window but today's vis will be variable and the winds are higher in the Alpine today: dress warmer ;)
A couple of centimetres dusted the stake overnight and I know your fingers are crossed for the predicted 17cm+ on Friday to eventuate! Mine too ;)Expect a cloudy day with the freezing level still hovering around 1500-1600m.
What a beautiful day to start the New Year yesterday was, eh? <3Hopin' you had a terrific day - whatever you got up to ^_^
Happy New Year! ^_^3cm overnight atop yesterday's 9cm (which I'm told skied like 20cm in leeward terrain); colder temps; and the Saddle is groomed today - huzzah! See ya up there.
Wishing you all a fantastic weekend and finish to 2023! <3 Stay safe; be easy on yourselves and others; and get creative until the snow really flies ;) xox
Well... The freezing level dropped a couple hundred metres overnight and a wet 12cm was on the stake this morning. Happy Thursday!
Well... I hope you skied Blackcomb yesterday morning ;) But in all seriousness: hats off to WB for working so hard under really challenging conditions yesterday in a really snow challenged season! <3
I hope you had a fantastic Christmas!! ^_^Yesterday was soggy on my late ski out as the freezing level shot up - along with the winds. But it dropped again in the early hours and there's another 10cm on today's stake! You don't know 'til ya go!
SNOW!!!!!A respectable 15cm has fallen on the Pig Alley Snow Ruler since 11pm last night! HUZZAH. It's a start. And with the freezing level due to really lower this evening - WB are hoping to fire up their Snow Gun fleet!Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas! <3Rememeber to send in an audio recording of a Joke to include in the Podcast for your chance to win Beer from Coast Mountain Brewing! thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com The Podcast will be back on Boxing Day morning with an episode ;)

Today presents another opportunity to test the DWR on your gear; with a Vitamin D supplement highly recommended! Ha.See ya at Skiitour ;)
Ha. Sorry: the episodes are feeling repetitive of late and even optimistic me is struggling to be enthusiastic about our ski conditions!Happy Tuesday though! ^_^
Well... 2 degrees at the Horstman Hut last night eh? Woof.It will get better but I know, I know - us pow hounds are hungry. Anticipation is one of life's finest joys though eh? Ha. Happy Monday!
A few more cementimetres eh? We'll take 'em.But expect a high freezing level this weekend; sunny skies on Sunday in particular; the Ski out is open on Blackomb; Chic Pea and Crystal Hut are now open; but there is still limited terrain open. Happy weekend! ^_^
That looks like a solid 8cm on the Snow Ruler this morning with a few more CMs due to fall this morning. The winds have calmed and the ski out on Blackcomb is officially open - huzzah!
I know, I know: I'm ready for a change in conditions and winter to really ramp up too - but it is what it is! Take 'er easy and enjoy the forced down time ;) The Pow will come
Well... yesterday was firm and fast eh?! O_oFitz chair opens today; Emerald was closed all day yesterday; it will be sunny and beautiful again; and I hope you have a Happy Tuesday ^_^
Hot damn: wasn't Saturday beautiful with all that snow in the valley?Yesterday too ^_^But yesterday's high freezing level on the Hill means today will be firm but Crystal Chair and Harmony Chair opened yesterday! Huzzah. Keep your eyes extra peeled for rocks and obstacles still!
Sunny skies today and Tomorrow before a low pressure system hopefully delivers 10-15cm on Saturday! Apologies for not doing an episode tomorrow <3 Bon weekend!
Wow!! What an anniversary Apres at Stinky's yesterday <3 We raised $950 for the WCSS Food Bank! ^_^ I'm anticipating dust on crust today with this morning's fresh 5cm atop yesterday's rain crust. Take 'er easy!
Yep: 8cm of new snow yesterday was followed by rain and high freezing levels: +2.5 degrees at 1800m at 11pm and still hovering above 0 degrees at that elevation as of 7am this morning. Translation for snow conditions? Not as crispy as it may be tomorrow with the freezing level due to drop during the day and particularly overnight but you don't know until you go. Expect it to be... average. Ha. I hope to see you at Stinky's on the Stroll after 2pm for the Podcast's three year anniversary and raffle fundraiser for the WCSS Food Bank ^_^
Choo Choo: here it comes - The Pineapple Express.Fingers crossed the freezing level doesn't top out at the summits and bring us rain to the Peaks: potentially dramatically effecting our snow pack for the season. We shall see!
SNOWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!I know, I know: just 5 or so centimetres but it's a start with a lot more forecast tonight. Huzzzzzzzah! Thinking of anyone struggling right now: be easy on yourself and reach out <3
Wellllllll waddya know: some snow in the forecast this afternoon and tonight <3 Just a few centimetres but it's a start ^_^
More sunshine, with cloud very much similar to yesterday expected today but temperatures are much colder with the North Easterly change in wind direction.
Well would you look at that, another sunshiney day on the hill: with the freezing level predicted to lower this afternoon. In today's episode: Vandalism; potholes; and Live Music - Oh my! Happy Tuesday ^_^

Huzzah - Rain! Quite a lot of it actually: as much as 100mm is forecast for the lower Mainland but Whistler is forecast 30mm over the course of Today and into tomorrow with wind speeds of 40kmh expected. How sound could see wind speeds of 70kmh and above so be wary of windfall and pooling on your HWY 99 drive! I hope you enjoy the forced time indoors: there are fantastic rainy options in town: Escape Rooms; (the Bowling Alley and Cinema are sorely missed however); exhibitions on at the Audain Art Museum such as Manabu Ikeda's Flowers from the Wreckage and Karin Bubaš's Garden of Shadows; The Teeny Tiny Art Show at the Maury Young Arts Centre finishes on Sept 30th; but the SLCC will be closed until September 30th - the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. High winds and a higher freezing level than we've seen all week arrive with today's storm. But just how much will fall I wonder?Happy Thursday! ^_^
I recommend enjoying the sunshine this AM before the low pressure front and questionable amount of precip arrives later today. Fingers crossed for some more April Pow from me! ^_^

Take it easy on yourself ;) The Lost Lake trails closed yesterday for the season; Fresh Tracks finishes April 2nd; and we've got steady flurries forecast for the next few days! Dust on crust? Or a reset? We shall see!
Oh boy, yesterday was gorgeous eh? ^_^Today will be bluebird and warm to start too but then some low pressure rolls in tonight.
No new snow on the stake after yesterday's very light flurries. Spring skiing is definitely here this week: look out for 'the stick' underfoot on your ski out, ha! Sunny skies already in the high alpine today: slip, slop, slap that sunscreen on! ;)

Just 2cm on the initial snow report this morning, with high alpine winds... but you don't know until you go - as they say. With more snow due to fall this morning, I'm heading up for a poke. We don't have any major accumulations in the forecast for the next week after all. Happy Thursday! ^_^
A little dusting of 2cm this morning but wind speeds are on the rise with another system due to bring us a dump tonight with up to 15cm expected in the valley! Huzzah! Sorry Folks - Short and sweet today.Hopin' you stay healthy, warm and safe on the roads this weekend! <3 x
Brrrrrrrr! Baltic temperatures today: a bitter air temp of -22 at Whistler Peak. That's before wind chill! You can avoid frost nip and frost bite today and tomorrow by pre-emptively wearing toe/foot/hand warmers; skiing gondola laps as opposed to exposed open chairs; regular warming breaks; and make sure you check on others for signs of skin damage on exposed flesh (face) - particularly kids! <3
4cm on the Stake this morning! Temperatures are cooler than yesterday - but not as cold as they're about to be - brrrr; winds have lessened from yesterday too; the Half-pipe has been groomed (not with the Dragon); and sunset is at 5:39pm!

It's a storm day! Here's hoping for 15cm to be on the storm board by tomorrow morning: with the valley due 5cm today and a valley high of 0 degrees! ^_^
Brrrrr. -1 at the Horstman Hut on Sunday and now -12 this morning. The temperature swing has made a crispy melt/freeze crust on a few aspects and at a high elevation yesterday too! BUT: there's 6cm of fresh atop it today ^_^ Happy Tuesday!
Just 2cm on the stake this morning but those high winds last night will have redistributed some snow to hunt. Temperatures are much colder today too thankfully; and sun is on the way tomorrow! Hopin' you had a great weekend! ^_^
19cm!! LFG!!!Winds were gnarly last night though (upwards of 150kmh!!) and continue to be high this morning but are decreasing. Ride safely and look after each other <3 Happy Friday! ^_^
What an absolutely stunning Bluebird Powder Day yesterday eh? I hope you got yours! ^_^ Temperatures and winds are increasing today with the arrival of this next system: which has settled a few centimetres already this morning and hopefully a big dump tonight! See ya up there after a good stretch!
I hope you had a super great Pow day yesterday too! ^_^ Cooler temps and much lighter winds today: with better vis also - before more stormy weather rolls in again tonight.Misdelivered packages; tap takeoevers; and what do you think of the new Rainbow Park designs?
Freshies!!!But oh boy - those winds were blowing last night! We're talkin' 133kmh wind speeds at the Horstman Hut last night! expect lots of wind transported snow today and heavier snow on your ski out with the freezing level below Pig Alley last night. Ride safe. More snow to fall today and to arrive on Thursday!

The bus schedule reduced today; municipal parking rates go up April 3rd; and Rachel Lewis reunited a lost dog with it's owners! <3

Did you keep warm over the weekend? Brrrrr. Yesterday afternoon was lovely but it was challenging to stay toasty on Saturday eh - ha!We've got some unsettled weather coming our way during the week and some precip after no new snow in 7 days - but uncertainty remains on just how many CMs we'll receive.

Another stellar day in the alpine today if you get above the lingering valley cloud. Cloud is due to increase this afternoon however and bring a couple of centimetres tonight! Groomers held up really well yesterday! Temperatures are warm today and remained so overnight - hopefully runs are still chalky. The wind direction is changing to a northwesterly and brings the cold arctic air that will dominate starting Saturday. Brrr.
Mild temps already this morning: +2 at 1800m! Sunny skies up top today with this week's familiar valley cloud lingering again. These warm alpine temps mean the Avi danger is considerable in Alpine elevations!Happy Robbie Burns day! ^_^
Did you hit Lower P2C yesterday? Soupy vis in sections and that's what will be expected today too: no new snow; variable vis; Ptarmigan is run of the day on whistler; and tomorrow the freezing level shoots up with sunny skies!
What a great weekend eh? That sunset last night! O_OLower Peak to Creek was groomed for the first time this year last night; so was Gear Jammer, Upper Catskinner and lower Franz's! The freezing level is forecast to skyrocket on Wednesday; then plummet on Saturday, FYI!
You know the adage: 'Don't believe everything you see/read'?Well that applies to today's preliminary snow report that reads 0cm overnight: there's 9cm of fresh at the snow stake! ^_^ More snow will fall during the morning tomorrow too. hot damn, yesterday's shredding was glorious eh? Enjoy today's sleeper pow day too! Catch ya on Monday.Happy Pride! Send in your answer to today's question - FIRST - to win a tasty 4 pack from Coast Mt Brewing!
I'm sorry for leaving ya stranded this week! I missed ya but enjoyed the disconnect ;) 6cm overnight; 25cm in the past 48 hours; with calm winds, great vis and cool temperatures this morning; and Peak and Symphony didn't open yesterday...Have fun! ^_^
Did you brave the Hill yesterday? Good on ya! If those divets in the snow - seen behind the snow stake on the webcam - don't denote to you how sub par conditions will be: I don't know what will. Ha. Bonne chance! There's lots to see and do over the weekend regardless. Send in your 'Be vocal about a Local' nominations to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com And apologies in advance for not doing an episode on Monday <3 Happy Friday the 13th!
Choo Choooo. All aboard the Pineapple express. 5cm+ is on the Snow Ruler this morning but it's just -2 at the tippy tops of WB; above freezing at Pig Alley; and the winds are 100kmh in the high alpine - with a forecast freezing level (fluctuating throughout the day) to top out at potentially 2200m. Yikes! Bonne chance - you'll need steep fall line for this incoming heavy snow.
0cm overnight: but plenty to hunt today before the vis socks in and the next storm cycle starts this afternoon. It looks like there was a total huck fest on Peak yesterday eh? I hope you got some awesome wiggles in the sunshine, wherever you were! ^_^
Do you ever stop to eat the snowflakes? I did last night and it was childishly wonderful! ^_^The stake wasn't cleared yesterday: so steady on! We've had 32cm in 24 hours but 16 overnight. Yesterday's high winds kept 7th and Peak from opening until late for a brief period. See ya up there!
Another 15cm! And it's Monday! LFG Baby! The temperatures are a little cooler than yesterday (it was 0 degrees at the Rendezvous yesterday early arvo) and we have more snow incoming this afternoon and evening. The snow has been great and the crowds should be a lot quieter today: see you and every other local up there! ;)I should add I'm sour about the margaritas because they were made with Jose Cuervo. Ha. I'll get over it.
What a surprise yesterday was with those blue skies eh?3cm on the stake this morning and 70kmh+ southerly winds in the high alpine. We can expect flurries today and hopefully 10cm+ overnight. It's the last day of operations for our Whistler cinema (which opened in 2002). See ya there!
Interesting vis yesterday eh? It looks to be much better already this morning: with flurries forecast early and a mix of sun and cloud again today. Here's hoping for 30 plus CMs (and more, obviously) starting Thursday eve and over the next few days but we'll see...
A flurry fell around 5am and we might see another flurry or two this morning, with cloudy skies and flat lighting anticipated again today. Yesterday was busy eh? I hope everyone working super hard over the holidays gets some much deserved down time over the next few days ^_^
I hope you had a fantastic NYE and start to the New Year, or if not, that it turns around quickly! <3 Tonight should be another lovely afternoon and sunset and with upper Peak to Creek now groomed, ending your ski day with those Peak views really gets ya in the feels. Lower Franz's is groomed today too - huzzah! Happy Monday! ^_^
Wishing you a great end to 2022 and all the very best for 2023 ^_^Enjoy the 9pm Fireworks at Skier's Plaza!I'm gonna gear up now for those fresh overnight - and still falling -centimetres ;)
Glacier chair opened yesterday and videos of the rescue of a stranded skier on the cliff band skiers right of Dakine - underneath the chair - are circulating! Photos of deployed Airbags from two whistler ski patrollers yesterday affirmed slabby, reactive conditions and they flew in the chopper to Heli bomb the Whistler Alpine after the size 3 avy in Whistler Bowl on Tuesday! The Saddle is run of the day today! Happy Skiing ^_^
I hope you're staying upright in these icy/slick conditions. Cooler temperatures on the Mts today with 7cm of fresh: but Avy control yesterday released some large size 3 avalanches in bounds! O_o See ya at Skiitour tonight!
I hope you're staying safe on the roads and valley trail: someone actually ice skated the roads in Whitegold last night: sheeeesh!I hope you had a wonderful Christmas ^_^Be vocal about a Local nominee Tania Moor will be receiving a tasty four pack from Coast Mt brewing for shuttling people stranded with no local bus service yesterday. Thanks Tania: you're awesome! <3
Happy snow day and Happy Holidays! ^_^Wishing you and yours a Merry and warm festive period <3 8cm officially reported but there's already another 5cm accumulated since the stake was dusted off this morning. There's a temperature inversion and winds are increasing. Creekside Gondola opens TODAY!Which means sadly, an end to the free shuttle service: which really helped buffer the many cancellations with BC transit due to short staffing. Give yourself plenty of extra time to get to work! See you in the White Room!
As the Arctic Flow releases it's wintery grip today, expect heavy snowfall and potentially freezing rain in the valley over the next couple of days, starting this evening! Huzzah for snow, but the Freezing level is predicted to rise as high as 2500m on Christmas Sunday. Humbug! Well: we'll take what we can get eh? Cooler temps and more snow - with adjusting amounts - expected Monday and Tuesday also. I hope you and yours are staying warm <3
It will be a sunny but frigid Winter Solstice today! Windchill temps are going to be dangerously cold if you over expose skin - with frostbite a very real hazard on the hill as well as in the Valley today! The Arctic Outflow looks set to depart on Friday, when some much needed wetter snow will arrive with a freezing level of 1800m forecast!
It's surprisingly less cold this morning because of the southerly wind direction change but temperatures are due to remain blisteringly cold on the mountain and in the valley until Thursday afternoon. 5cm of fresh on the Stake with more falling but due to ease soon. The forecast for snow and a high freezing level on Thursday is getting us all excited though eh?Stay warm and check in on those who could be struggling. <3
-_- It is absolutely baltic out. -18.8 in the valley and -24 at Pig Alley this morning. If you're braving the hill for some rocky dust on crust laps, be my guest ;) but make sure you're looking for signs of frost nip in your friends (whitening of skin) and that you're not exposing your skin to these harsh temperatures for long periods of time. Take care of your fingers, toes and each other ^_^ The Arctic outflow is forecast to exit on Thursday and with it, hopefully, the arrival of some much needed snow!
Sheesh - long episode today: tonnes to report on!!!The new Red Chair opens at 11am; lower Dave Murray is groomed; Fire and Ice, as well as Fireworks are back on NYE(8:30pm); it's gonna be cold as F*$% starting Saturday night; there are a bunch of music events and Santa is apparently available for lots of different photo ops in Whistler!Happy Friday ^_^
How many coreshots have you collected so far this season? Ha. Peak opened yesterday: huzzah! But the Alpine is boney as! I can confirm, waffles are back at the Crystal Hut and no: staff discount doesn't work on them!Enjoy the warmer temperatures today and tomorrow. Sunday is gonna be Baltic!!!
Another morning of RSS Feed upload problems :( Sorry for the delay! It's cooler this morning compared to yesterday's toasty alpine inversion. Avalanche concern remains really high. Enjoy the groomers, blue bird views and look out for rocks!
Happy Tuesday! There's an alpine inversion today: great for softer groomers but super hazardous for Avalanches!!! Stay safe by being super cautious. Please send your nominations for 'Be vocal about a Local' to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com ^_^
Hopin' you had a mega weekend! It was so great to see some wonderful local characters at the England World Cup game on Saturday <3 Wonderful news that 7th opened yesterday too!See ya up there today ^_^
Another 10cm? That's 39cm in the past 48 hours but it still felt very thin in spots yesterday :/ There's more snow incoming tonight and tomorrow however and then sunny skies with no precip forecast for a week. There are tonnes of events to enjoy and hopefully the new Red Chair 6-pack spins soon! ^_^
Apologies for the late upload today: Soundcloud was down for over a couple of hours!! Gah.Dust on crust today with flurries expected to continue but taper this afternoon <3 See ya up there! ^_^
There were a few Christmas Parties in town last night: not just Nagomi's - which is responsible for my sore head this morning, ha! The Dubhlin was closed; Brandy's was packed; Crystal's Karaoke night was heaving; so we had a little dance party at El Fern on Tequila Tuesday. Top tip: a double tequila and grapefruit is just $6.90 there on Tuesdays ;) You're welcome! It goes down extra well after lots of Sake! ^_^ Back to bed for me. Dress warm when you head up today. Here's hoping for more pow than forecast tomorrow
Cloud is starting to roll in with flurries forecast today and more varying snowfall throughout the week. WB are hoping to open the Creekside Ski out next week; they're also hoping to open Red chair soon; and there are lots of events to pop in the upcoming calendar ^_^Happy Tuesday!
Harmony and Crystal are now spinning but it's still early season and core shots are the talk of the town right now! We have another alpine inversion today: warmer temperatures up top, calm winds, and a chillier ski out as you descend to the valley. The ski out to Blackcomb Base is G2G, as well as Whistler village - but still no ski out on Creekside but the free shuttle runs 7am until 5pm! Happy Monday ^_^
The arctic outflow continues and I hope you're keeping warm and preventing frost nip with regular breaks when skiing and good skin protection! <3 Harmony and Crystal may open today and more terrain has been opened around Jersey Cream: plus, the tried and tested ski out on Whistler ^_^LOTS of awesome stuff happening in our awesome town this weekend!Happy Friday and Go England!
If you thought last week was cold, HA - today will tell you otherwise ;) I'm gonna wait for some sunshine to take the edge off the -18 temperatures at 1800m. Winds from the North East are calm today but were well above 100kmh in the alpine during Tuesday eve's snow storm and Alpine snow is very wind effected in spots. First Tracks is returning; Where's Ben; and the WFF is well under way! Keep warm and protect your extremities and exposed skin!
26cm of cold smoke?? SICK. We'll take it! With limited terrain open however: remember this tempting pow may lure you into closed off areas where snow hasn't consolidated and it's often not the rock you see, it's the one you don't - that can potentially end your season. Take it easy! ;) See ya up there! ^_^
Winterfell's favourite Jon arrives late morning/afternoon: SNOW! ^_^ With cold temperatures too, we're all hoping for more than the 15cm forecast to fall from spotwx but snowfall is forecast for the lower mainland too with gusting winds of near 90kmh anticipated south of Squamish - bear that in mind for any long distance travel to the south! Still super limited terrain: don't let this incoming dry snow fool ya into a treacherous position with a base of just 75cm at treeline.
Brrrrrr. -15 at 1800m this morning. Blue skies will bring beautiful views today but the northerly outflow will bring very cool temps and wind chill this week - protect your toes and skin - and 10+cm is forecast to fall for tomorrow evening through Wednesday <3 Hopin' you had a great weekend! ^_^
It was still above freezing at Pig Alley as I recorded this. We are due some more snow this morning and overnight tomorrow as the freezing level drops - but not large amounts. If you're heading up for turns: expect early season conditions; it to be potentially busy; limited terrain; lots of mixed abilities; but a fantastic opportunity to build your riding muscles; have a social ski and breath some fresh mountain air. It's a long season if you stay injury free. The snow will come! Happy Friday ^_^
HAPPY OPENING DAY! ^_^ Here's to another awesome season! Take it super easy: it is very much early season: limited terrain with all abilities utilizing the slopes; and download is mandatory! Huge thanks to everyone that came to the warm-up aprés at Stinky's on the Stroll yesterday and to all the prize sponsors <3 Coast Mountain Brewing; Nagomi Sushi; Picnic Whistler, and Gogglesoc!
See ya on the hill!
10cm on the stake this morning! We're also forecast as much as 10cm of snow in the valley later today! WB have their first staff ski day tomorrow: 10am-2pm (last upload 1pm) and opening day is just 2 sleeps away! Do you have your gear tuned? Outerwear re-waterproofed? Are you stretching in anticipation already? Ha. If you've forgotten how to Apres: don't worry - we have you covered tomorrow at Stinky's on the Stroll 3-6pm! There'll be awesome prizes from Coast Mt Brewing; Picnic Whistler; Gogglesoc, Nagomi Sushi and Mortgage National. I hope to see you there ^_^
Mornin'! ^_^ Lots covered in today's episode but unfortunately there isn't lots of snow in the forecast: maybe some dust on crust for the first ever WB staff ski day on Wednesday though! And news in this morning: the creekside Haul rope has arrived! ZING.
Slow season you say? There's PLENTY to do in town right now!! <3 Unfortunately there isn't any reliable snow in the forecast for another week but warmer valley temps and sunny skies are welcome too: there's definitely some sickness circulating as we retreat indoors more! Happy Tuesday ^_^
Stilll brrrrrrr - the windchill is circa -8 this morning. The northerly outflow is due to soften overnight but then the freezing level shoots up to 3000m+ on Monday 'n' Tuesday. Sheesh! Lotsa sunshine but no snow in the forecast - despite a 2cm dusting on the stake overnight; and apparently the Creekside Gondi cable is on?? I'll check this morning en route to the Remembrance Day service at Olympic Plaza. Save the date: November 23rd - A Winter Warm-up Aprés at Stinky's on the Stroll! A chance to kick off your winter Aprés routine (it will be a WB staff ski day for some) with awesome Door Prizes from Picnic Whistler; Googlesoc; Coast Mt Brewing; Nagomi Sushi; Mortgage National and More! See you there! ^_^
Brrrrrrrr. It's Baltic out there! Ha. This northerly outflow is due to depart the valley tomorrow. Pig Alley has a reported base of 64cm and we don't have more snow in the forecast this week. Bears are still roaming the valley; I'm not sure what the latest is on the Snow Goose; and there's no time like the present to educate oneself; refamiliarise yourself; and start building intel - with back-country info! <3 Happy Tuesday ^_^
Aloha Kakahiaka! Isn't the valley gorgeous right now with this blanket of snow and those Autumnal colours poking through? Prepare for the freezing level to shoot up this arvo however! We have some cold weather incoming next week too: so eyes are peeled on the freezing level and it's potential effect on our early season snow pack! Be extra careful on the roads as you readjust to these winter conditions <3 And yes... the rumour Mill has been spinning about the Creekside Lifts... Happy Friday! ^_^
November already? Sheesh! I hope you had a fantastic Halloween! ^_^ We might have some more valley snow fall on Thursday: I've been stoked to see the base building up top and creeping it's way down Ptarmigan, Olympic, Tokum and Blackcomb's mid mountain runs! <3 Here's hopin' you're super well: November can be a tough month. Take it easy and hang tight: it's just over 3 weeks until opening day!!
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! ^_^ With WB closing it's Bike Park and Lift operations until opening day on November 24th, I really feel this is the quietest time of year in town - and usually the wettest! Environmentally: our province is desperate for rain :'( But you know what they say about lemons... make lemonade. See you outside! <3
What a stunning October week eh? Wishing you lots of merriment with Friends this Thanksgiving Weekend! ^_^ Turkey Sales are on; Hiking is all time; it's the last weekend of the Farmer's Market (Saturday and Sunday); advance voting for the Municipal election is TOMORROW/Saturday 8am-8pm at the Library; and the Bears are hungry - remove all attractants! <3
What a sunrise this morning <3 These warm Fall days have been lovely eh? Not so great for the environment: having seen a fresh Smoke Plume north of Pemberton yesterday :( I'm reminded how much we need rain (as of today there are 181 active fires in BC). But until it arrives: I hope you're enjoying the sunny skies. The upper Treeline foliage colours are absolutely stunning right now! TOMORROW: another all candidates meeting at the Maury Young Arts Centre AT 5:30PM. AND advance voting is open at the Whistler Public Library from 8am to 8pm.
Psil̓núcwkacw (Lil'wat for Good Morning) and Ha7lh kwakwayel (Day break in the Squamish language). It is Truth and Reconciliation Day <3 Be easy on yourselves and each other. The SLCC is offering free admission today and through the weekend and has some fantastic programming and opportunities to connect and learn.
Another gorgeous September Day begins but weighty news might be weighing heavy on you. Take it easy on yourself and check in with others. Always reach out if you're struggling! <3 Our town, like any other, has problems - but I genuinely believe the community here is paramount. Please get involved and informed with our upcoming municipal election. Tomorrow's all candidates meeting at the Maury Young Arts Centre 6-9pm requires registration.
There'll be showers and cooler temperatures today but Monday's and Tuesday's forecast is looking marvellous <3 With yesterday being the first day of Fall and the Equinox - I'm sure gonna soak up the sun whilst it's here and hope you do too! ^_^ The Decker Loop was so lovely yesterday! If you're pumped for Winter though: The Manboys are premiering their latest movie Plank on Sunday; The Brandywine Boogie is tomorrow; along with the Callaghan Country's Huckleberry Fest and Pancake Breakfast; and Stinky's on the Stroll is awesome everyday ;) <3 Happy Friday!
Who isn't loving this gorgeous high pressure and weather?!? After a wet spring: I'm sure trying to make the most of it and hope you are too! ^_^ I'll watch the Rings of Power and House of dragons when the weather turns! Ha. It was SO bloody good to see so many people at Sunday's Beer Fest <3 Man, our community is just the best eh?
There are LOTS of events this weekend and some welcome rain today! ^_^ The Terry Fox Run is on Sunday; The WVBF is in full swing; Fungus Among Us will be Oct 14th and 15th; Oyster Fest will be back; and the Meadow Park Pool reopens next week! See ya oot 'n' aboot
Woah - it's been a couple weeks! How've you been? The skies are smokey and there is an air quality statement in effect for the next 24-48 hours. Be easy on yourself and check-in with those more vulnerable <3 Rain is in the forecast with some incoming low pressure and a change is in the air. That means Winter is coming and although it's sad to see Summer ending: the trees reminding us that it's good to let go - is a beautiful thing ^_^
Some showers and cooler temperatures in the forecast will be welcome by all - I'm sure - but it comes with the threat of thunderstorms today and tomorrow! I hope you had a funktastic time at the last of the Summer Concert Series shows last night; that you're able to make it to Coast Mountain's SIXTH Anniversary party tomorrow; and that you squeeze in as much Mountain adventuring as you can - September looms! Chat to you next month <3 Happy Friday!
There's some high cloud this morning, which might take the edge off the sun on your outdoor activities before today's high of 30 degrees is hit! It'll be above 30 degrees for the next few days and there's a 30% threat of showers and thunderstorms!! The last of the Summer concert series is on Thursday with the J.B's and Vinyl Ritchie; there's a guided Bat Walk at the Library tonight; and The Lost Lake Toad migration means the Access road is closed. Happy Tuesday! ^_^
There's a special weather statement in effect today: with a low potential for gusty valley winds and thunderstorms! It's obviously dusty and dry: Top of the world was closed yesterday (and will be reassessed today; and our township fire danger is at Extreme) and there's some smoke and haze on the horizon towards the Stein valley. The Slow Food Cycle is in Pemby on Sunday ^_^ Stay cool! Happy Friday!
Still buzzin' from Crankworx; Art on the Lake and a great all round week? I hear ya! The weather is gonna be hawwwwwwt tomorrow and Thursday (circa 34 degrees); so I hope you enjoy cooling down somewhere! ^_^
Happy Friday! What a week eh? Art on the Lake; Bob Dempsey's closing exhibit at the Audain Art Museum; the Alpien wildflowers are in bloom; and with Crankworx still in full swing for it's closing weekend, celebratory vibes are high around the village! <3 Keep super dooper close eyes on your bikes though ;'( Cougars; Mosquitoes; and BBQ lovin' Bears - Oh My! See ya at Joyride ^_^
Crankworx is in full swing!! Tonight is Deep Summer; The Pump Track Challenge tomorrow; Dirt Diaries on Thursday; The Whip-off World Champs on Friday; Joyride on Saturday and of course, the Canadian Open downhill on Sunday! A 30% chance of showers tomorrow will be very welcome I'm sure though! The High note trail is open but Peak chair doesn't crack until 11am and is often delayed, fyi. Have a fantastic week! ^_^
Happy Friday! ^_^ Despite the much needed rain on Wednesday: a campfire ban came into effect yesterday until October 28th (unless rescinded prior to that date). Crankworx starts today!!! Huzzah. Lot 2 will be closed but lots 6 and 7 will be open with Excalibur Gondola operating between 10am and 7pm! There's a mandatory portage in effect on the River of Golden Dreams from the Fish weir to avoid the canal section. And it'll be 30+ degrees again come Sunday for a few days. Have a wicked weekend! <3
Cooler temps are forecast for the next few days: including showers! Huzzah! The 11th annual Flagstop Theatre and Arts Festival is well underway; Crankworx is around the corner (5th); and I'm feeling optimistic after last week's snow melt about Alpine hiking and biking. How about you?
Feelin' hot hot hot? My bike ride home circa 10pm last night was gorgeous but day time temperatures can effect you quickly. Please check in on others and look for symptoms of heat stroke <3 I hope you're staying cool - BC Long weekend is gonna be a roaster (yesterday was 35.9 degrees) but let's hope some precipitation arrives with the forecast cooler temperatures next week to reduce our wildfire hazard! Thinking of those working in our community without AC! Have a phenomenal long weekend! ^_^
I really hope you're all doing okay after Sunday's shooting <3 A huge heartfelt thanks to our incredible first responders! THANK YOU. There's a heatwave this week: take care of yourself to stay cool and hydrated and check in on those who are vulnerable in our community and for signs of heat stroke in others. The RoGD is prime right now: although the short section after the portage to the 19 mile creek entrance is already getting quite shallow in spots. Slip, slop, slap ;)
Cheakamus Lake trail is open for Day use; it's sunny as; and the Squamish Constellation Festival is happening today through Sunday! ^_^ Today's super special guest in the Local Lounge is WORCA President Dale Mikkelsen! He shares an update on the challenges and recent successes of Whistler's Off Road Cycling Association; prepares us for potential disappointment if the snowline doesn't recede rapidly; and stresses the importance of memberships for our local trail network and it's maintenance by their dedicated staff. Happy Friday!
No rain in the forecast?? It's been a long while since we've seen that! Cheakamus Lake trail is still closed; the Mozzies are apparently apocalyptic at Lillooet Lake; DJ Foxy Moron opens for Tynomi Banks at Olympic Plaza on Thursday; and staffing issues at Meadow Park and the Rebuild it Centre (amongst many other places) cause closures.
We're in store for a cooler weekend but next week is gonna be sunny and b.e.a.utiful <3 Stage 2 Water conservancy is in effect; Evo Ebikes are coming to Whistler; Barney Bentall plays at Olympic Plaza tonight; and Harry the doodle was found! Bon weekend! ^_^
How great was yesterday eh? Today will be a doozy too ^_^ However... with warmer temperatures and high water levels comes mosquitoes: i'll report back on Friday after my FIRST camp of the year! Cheakamus Lake trail is still closed and for Pete's sake; pack out what you pack in; and secure or dispose of bear attractants! :'(
Ha, can you tell I need a coffee this morning eh? Gotta run... Have a fantastic weekend! <3
I hope you had a terrific long weekend? Summer (well - despite yesterday's and today's weather) really feels like it's in full swing eh? Although, my facebook memories of high Alpine hiking from this time in previous years, makes me hyper aware that the Wildflower season this year will likely be very short! I bet you're eager to get elevated too but the snowline this year is receding slowwwwwly. The rain is truly great for our fire hazard: in fact - there's no coastal region fire ban which is unheard of for July: so you can stay toasty when camping and see all those mosquitoes with better clarity! Ha. Happy Monday! ^_^
Happy Canada Day and long weekend!!! There are tonnes of local events and programming to enjoy this weekend: not least the Sam Roberts Concert tonight at olympic Plaza! Have a good 'en Buds x
What a GORGEOUS weekend eh?? This morning's a beauty too: enjoy it before some potential thunder clouds and cooler weather roll in ;) A HUGE HAPPY BIRTHDAY goes to the one and only Jeremy Peterson today <3 Not only can you find the coldest Jagermeister in town at Stinky's on the Stroll; but also one of Whistler's warmest hearts. Love ya Stinky ^_^
I'm sorry Folks to have missed delivering episodes whilst away on vacation! What amazing news that Bus service has returned and is FREE until September 5th too! <3 Lots happening in our beautiful lil' Mt Town and this weekend's sunshine and heat is gonna be glorious: see ya on the (not-snowy and not-closed) hiking trails or out on the Lakes! Happy Friday! ^_^
Apologies in advance for the lengthy episode today... unfortunately I'm flying away to (please don't hate me) sunnier skies and will be back in just over a week ;) Enjoy today's sunnier conditions. Wishing you all sunshine; rainbows; and a return of our long lost Bus service! <3
SUNSHINE!!! :D Let's make the most of it! It's gonna be 22 degrees today and the rain will return tonight. Man, I'm feeling the pressure to fit in as much as possible on these nice weather windows eh? You too? See ya outside! ^_^
Gotta love these sunshine breaks we've been having, eh? Fingers crossed for a resolution to our Bus Strike in today's mediated meeting between PW Transit and Unifor but if you submit a photo of yourself biking over the next three days to AWARE as part of #GoByBikeWeek - you could win prizes - and the odds of success might be better!?! Happy Friday! ^_^
Chacho is back home!!!! Huzzah. But buses are still not on the road. Boooooo. That makes this the longest strike in BC history! For all those effected: hang in their Team <3 Happy Tuesday! ^_^
That's it, that's all Folks - for skiing this season that is. Hopin' you had a terrific Gaper Day too! ^_^
Hot dammmmmn. How bloody great was the skiing yesterday? Sally and I had a blast! Hopin' you did too? I think the sunshine made a palpable difference in everyone's mood, eh? Whismas (the Bike Bark opening) was yesterday - muddy for sure - but the Whistler love and vibes were high yesterday <3 I'm still stoked! Especially because we have sunshine and warmer temps for the long weekend! Here's hopin' it holds out for Gaper Day on Monday! See ya there ;)
Happy Tuesday! ^_^ The freezing level finally rose a little eh? Well: the winds are going to rise a lot in the valley today and tomorrow with the arrival of yet more low pressure and rain. Here's hoping for some sunshine (currently forecast) this weekend but it looks dubious for Gaper Day :/ Fingers crossed!
Huh: I only just noticed it's Friday the 13th! Shoot - there's a missed joke of the day opportunity! Wishing you good luck today and everyday ;) All three of Whistler's Golf courses are open as of today: huzzah! But snow continues in the Hills: it looks like another 5cm of fresh on the storm board this morning but with much better vis today. See ya up there! ^_^
With another 5cm on the Catskinner storm board; and a potential +20cm this weekend - it's becoming hard to envision, let alone experience some sunny spring skiing or a warm Gaper Day eh? Ha. Heads up: Paid parking at 4 of our Local Parks will be reinstated on MAY 15th!
Expect town to be busy this weekend with reports of full hotel occupancy for Mother's Day on Sunday! Deal season is well underway; we still have no local Transit; and the weather is still nowhere near 20 degrees! Have a great weekend ;)
Aloha Kakaheika! ^_^ The WP podcast has moved into it's Summer format: episodes on Tuesdays and Fridays at 8:15am ;) I felt a little rusty this morning, ha. Hopin' you're well and if you have feedback or requests you want to hear on the Podcast: please reach out to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com Mahalo nui!
How was your last day on Whistler for the 21/22 season yesterday? The snow was light and deep in spots eh? Today will be AWESOME! Blackcomb Mt opens at 10am however, with rumours of an earlier 9am opening circulating... The Whistler Pulse will be dropping down to it's Summer format: episodes on Tuesdays and Fridays at 8:15am(ish) starting with the next episode on April 29th: I'm heading on a break! Chat to ya then ^_^
It's the last day of skiing on Whistler Mt for the season :'( Base lifts stop spinning at 4pm (2:30pm for Fitz) and tomorrow's pow day will kick off at 10am on Blackcomb. Lots of events (today's 'slush' cup, scavenger hunt, Creekside Gondi giveaway, etc) and info in the podcast. See ya up there!! ^_^
Happy Easter Friday! I hope you get to enjoy a long weekend and/or plenty of the events on offer this weekend! ^_^ Gotta rush here, hence the early upload... See ya on Whistler MT this weekend!
Well yesterday was pretty damn sweet eh? No new snow overnight but today's sunny skies will be a treat again. Temperatures are a little colder than yesterday even: bundle up! -10 at the roundhouse right now and -13 at the peaks!
4cm eh? Thanks to all who guessed on Instagram yesterday... Shane Jensen wins an awesome 4-pack from Coast Mt Brewing with his guess of 6cm! 4cm of coldsmoke on firm groomers with good visibility has my ears perked though... What else are you gonna do today? Bike in 3 degrees? Brrrrr. Dress warm still: it's still rockin' at -10 at 1800m this morning!
I found the conditions firm and fast yesterday. You? Man, those views never get old. And with 6 days left of the lifts spinning on Whistler, I'm making the most of the quiet conditions. My body could really use some RnR though at this point in the season, ha - I'm sure your's does too! Take it easy ;) How many centimetre do you think we'll have on the storm board by the morning? Guess correctly on our Instagram story poll to win Coast Mountain Beer!
Brrrrrr. It's cold up there with the northerly wind direction these past few days eh? The same applies today but with sunny skies this morning and increasing cloud expected this afternoon: hailing in the arrival of precip tomorrow and Wednesday!
Ho Boy - 2cm on a rain freeze crust? Nah thanks. Today's podcast is 20 minutes!! Sheesh. Sorry!
Such tragic news in our community with the announcement of someone passing away on Tuesday near West Ridge. <3 Thinking of all those who knew them! The freezing level will shoot up to as high as 2700m today: play safe - Avalanche Canada's latest Blog post is full of useful info.
Was yesterday the longest time you've ever waited for a chairlift? I hope you had a phenomenal day and get after it today before the freezing level shoots up tomorrow! ^_^
Just 3cm overnight (ish) but only the Whistler T-Bars opened yesterday... see ya at Peak chair!
51cm?!?!?! HA! That's the biggest overnight dump this season! Right? However, those high winds that kept the upper lifts closed yesterday are still swirling. The Avi risk is High(4) too; so don't expect everything to open today. Get after it, especially before the freezing level shoots up on Thursday! Yeeeeeeeeeew! ^_^
20cm overnight!!!!???
Of course there isn't - but Sunday and Monday are looking really promising <3 Happy April Fools Day! Got a good prank to share? Share your story on Instagram and you could win a fantastic 4-pack from Coast Mt Brewing! ^_^ Here's hoping Whistler and Blackcomb Ski Patrol have reignited their April 1st rivalry for the first time in 2 years!
Did you see any Aurora last night? Tonight's KP is high too but we're not forecast a clear evening :/ Fingers crossed! Send in your nominations for 'Be Vocal about a Local' to gift someone 2 Vallea Lumina Tickets from the Adventure Group for being a rad member of our community. And listen in tomorrow for a chance to win a Coast Mt 4-pack ^_^
What a day yesterday was eh?? <3 Well, sunny breaks are forecast for later today but expect dust on crust atop a hard melt freeze crust after yesterday's warm temps, followed by cool temps overnight and a dusting of 2-3cm; with showers in the valley expected in the morning in particular.
How bloody great was the sunshine yesterday afternoon eh? :D We have lots more of it this morning with a freezing level due to approach 2500m! This afternoon however, cloud will roll in and we'll receive some snow tonight once the freezing level drops! On this day last year, the Mts closed early for a second time. Man, what a day that was! It looks like we'll be getting some cooler temps and better snow on the weekend... Don't forget sunscreen today! ^_^
Mornin'! Well... it rained to the tippy top yesterday, so... keep your expectations low ;) There's a little snow on the trees around the roundhouse at this point but with the freezing level at 1800m: I'd anticipate schmoo atop a firm rain/freeze crust; spring stick; mash potato snow; and limited visibility until sunny breaks appear this afternoon! So wet spring skiing eh?!
Happy Friday! ^_^ I know: skiing yesterday was super average but the views were superb and social skiing is always a blast if you ask me. Sorry for the overly-lengthy episode today, ha. Please send your 'Be vocal about a Local' nominations in to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com
Boy, that freezing level really lowered overnight eh? If you're heading up for some early corduroy because it's sunny, be wary: It'll likely feel like corrugated iron underfoot! Off for a dog walk before my laps today and I'll be sure to be on high alert for all the dog nuggets littering the valley trail. Gross!
Did ya ski yesterday?? Expect similar conditions today (variable vis, schmoo and sticky) with clearing skies forecast this afternoon but Alpine winds are much higher this morning: circa 100kmh!
Well... schnikes! 3cm overnight but with temps just hovering below zero at the Peaks this morning and 50kmh winds - I'm not holding my breath :/ I'm sure we'd all hoped the freezing level would rise later today but alas, it's high already.
14cm eh? Hot damn. Get after it!! The freezing level shoots up tomorrow and yesterday's persistent winds of 50kmh in the high alpine means deeper pow pockets on north facing slopes <3 Variable visibility expected but have a cautious approach in bounds (ride with buddies) and out of bounds too because despite the Danger rating of 2 in upper elevations from yesterday's 4pm Avalanche bulletin, the wind loading and overnight snow will likely be reactive! Play safe and get some turns for me! ;)
Happy Friday!! There felt like more than 6cm underfoot in yesterday's low vis and today's better vis will mean the search is on! More snow expected tonight through tomorrow and a lower freezing level: huzzah - the spring stick on the ski out was strong yesterday! Wishing you a wonderful weekend! ^_^
Happy St Paddy's! ^_^ 0cm of new snow today too but flurries have started swirling this morning. Expect a cloudy day with flurries and mixed visibility! Know someone you want to nominate for 'Be vocal about a Local'? Send in your story and nomination to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com and they could win 2 Vallea Lumina Tickets from the Adventure Group, for being an awesome member of our community!
Have fun yesterday?? Awesome! <3 Temperatures may be slightly cooler today with flurries and sunny breaks but 0cm feel overnight.
POW DAY!!! 10cm/4in might seem mediocre to some but trust me, there were deeper staches yesterday and there will be today! Ride safe and with buddies in trees: tree wells are a mounting hazard this week! See ya up there! ^_^
I know, I know: it still feels early with the clocks having sprung forward yesterday! 5cm on today's initial snow report but plenty more on the way today, with pretty mild temperatures and strong ridge top winds expected (currently 60kmh over the musical bumps - southerly direction - and -4 around 1800m). Hopin' you had a terrific weekend ^_^
A trace amount of snow sits in the valley this morning: heralding the arrival of the accumulations we've all been waiting for! Huzzah - snow!!!!! Yesterday, the BC government announced it would be lifting it's mask mandate (starting at midnight last night)! I for one, am excited for people to see my smile at work again ^_^ Some businesses may still be mandating masks for their staff (WB) and customers however... Have a wonderful weekend! Spring break is upon us: good luck getting a dinner reso this week ;)
That incoming high cloud bank is already beginning to blanket the sky: lighting could be flat in spots today with increased cloudiness foretelling the arrival of some much anticipated precip!! Weeeeeeeee.
Got a stunning Whistler sunset shot to share? Post on Insta and tag The Whistler Pulse, or post on Facebook for a chance to win a 4 pack of Coast Mt's Sunset Boulevard Hazy Sour! <3
Happy IWD for yesterday! <3 Let's empower women everyday! ^_^ Keep your peepers posted on Instagram and Facebook for a sunset contest today where you can win a delicious 4-pack from Coast Mt Brewing ;) And please rack your brain and nominate an individual for our 'Be vocal about a Local' initiative. We want to give 2 tickets to Vallea Lumina to someone in our community that has been selfless; gone above and beyond; or done a good deed - you just need to tell us about it at thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com Happy Wednesday. Wrap up warm if you're oot 'n' aboot. Brrrrrrr.
What a warm sunny weekend eh? Here's hopin' you wore some sunscreen and drank plenty of water ! ^_^ A short 'n' sweet podcast today with unfortunately no podcast tomorrow: I'll be on Mountain FM at 6am! Chat to ya here on Wednesday :)
How's your goggle tan lookin'? It'll get a power up this weekend! ;) Today's podcast is a little lengthy >_< Teehee. Happy Weekend!
4cm is recorded on the initial snow report this morning after yesterday's late afternoon precip. Yesterday was so freaking fun but if you missed it, today's colder temps and good vis will make for a great day of hunting staches in resort! ^_^ Happy Hunting!
Yesterday's sleeper pow day was awesome but today's 17cm with colder temps; lighter winds; and better vis is gonna be the best riding we've had in weeks! See ya up there :D Yeeeeew!
Hot damn - high winds and a high freezing level with just 6cm(ish) on the snow ruler this morning. Womp womp. I'm still gonna head up for some exploration in the trees. Por quai no? More snow due tonight but that freezing level is due to remain high... :/
Hopin' you had a blast skiing yesterday?! How're your powder legs? Readjusting after the drought we've had? ;) Just 6-10cm on the storm board today but we have more forecast to fall this afternoon/night and more forecast to fall tomorrow evening too. The weekend however is shaping up to be sunny! See ya up there ^_^
Mornin'! Just how excited are you about the incoming snow? On a scale of 1-10? 11 right? :D There's a lorra info in today's episode! Wishing you a great weekend! ^_^
Happy Thursday! A couple of CMs sat dusting the storm board this morning but this weekend's storm is what we're all waiting for: a chance to ski some pow after the drought we've had! Here's always hoping for more but be mindful that new snow atop our current snow pack will definitely bring hazards to backcountry travel! Sunny skies today and tomorrow before the snow arrives on Saturday is the forecast! ^_^
It's still chilly up there if you ask me but those views never get old <3 Did you head up yesterday? Or did ya have to work in those temps? I feel for ya! Short and sweet podcast today :) Please send in your February nominations for 'Be Vocal about a Local' to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com and the outstanding member of our community that you nominate could win TWO Vallea Lumina Tickets and Beer from Coast Mt!! ^_^
Brrrrrrrr. Buckle up and layer up if you're braving these temps. I tried and tested them yesterday and will be refraining from some survival skiing today: but that's just me ;) How exciting is it to see some snow in the forecast eh?? More on that later in the week! A huge congratulations to WP listener Joni Love on getting her Canadian Citizenship today! Atta Girl. I hope Rob and Dexter spoil you and you enjoy all the Canadiana today! ^_^
Brrrrrrrr! -28 windchill in the alpine with 40-60kmh winds?? Well, that makes me reassess my day, ha - how about you? It's Family Day and will likely be busy with bluebird skies regardless. Alpine lifts are now open 30 minutes later (3pm except symphony, which is open until 2:30pm)! Whoop whoooooop. Have someone in mind for February's 'Be Vocal about a Local' prizing from The Adventure Group and Coast Mountain Brewing? Send your nomination in to: thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com ^_^ Happy Monday. Stay warm!
February is flying by eh? Some snow is also gonna fly this weekend but with conservative estimates of just 5-10cm to fall over the next 24 hours or so. There's a thick band of valley cloud this morning but clearer skies up top! Have a great weekend! ^_^
I hope you got to enjoy yesterday's sunshine: 'cause we're in for some cloud over the next few days with just light snow and minor accumulations expected :( Tuesday is gonna be particularly chilly, fyi!
The valley Fog has dissipated today: it was gorgeous from above yesterday but a real bummer if you were stuck in the valley. Temps up top will feel cool again today with a northerly wind direction and winds of 30-40kmh this morning. The alpine high is forecast at 0c, but is currently -6/-7 at the Peaks (before wind chill). Slap on some sun screen despite the cool temps - some goggle tans are looking strong already!! ;)
Mornin'! Hopin' you had a great day yesterday: it looks like way more than 4cm fell from several videos I saw posted online <3 Only 36 runs are groomed on Whistler today but Blackcomb is rockin' 53!
Woah - lots covered today! O_o I wish it was reporting on lots of snow covering our beloved Mountains but alas, we have more spring riding and icy conditions to ski today and over the weekend. Tomorrow will be waaaarm - layer down hard, ha!! Keep your February nominations for 'Be Vocal about a Local' coming - the prize is TWO Vallea Lumina Tickets and Beer from Coast Mt!! January's Winner: Mackenzie Morris - will be receiving her January Prize of TWO Superfly Tickets from the Adventure Group and Coast Mt Beer TODAY!!! <3 Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend! ^_^
Ho man... I'm sorry! I didn't hit snooze and slept in this morning :/ All this lack of urgency due to no pow days is taking a toll ;) Apologies! Lots discussed today but keep your February nominations for 'Be vocal about a Local' coming to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com - nominate a member of the community for their good deeds and selflessness and they could win TWO Vallea Lumina Tickets from the Adventure Group and delicious Beer from Coast Mountain Brewing! ^_^ <3
Warmer temperatures and sunnier skies arrive later today after yesterday's flurries. I'm going to make the most of it with some XC skiing and hope you enjoy the sunshine and spring conditions coming our way too! ^_^ It's as if Ullr heard all our lamentations for the loss of spring ring these past two years and delivered in January and Feb! Ha. What a joker!
No new snow and more spring skiing in the forecast... We're really going to appreciate the pow when it comes back, eh? ;) Please send in your February 'Be vocal about a Local' nominations to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com - February's prize is TWO Vallea Lumina Tickets from The Adventure Group and delicious Beer from Coast Mt Brewing! <3
In light of Saturday's avalanches and the tragic loss of a member of the ski touring community, the valley feels heavy with the ultimate consequence of our outdoor pursuits. My heart goes out to all those involved and effected <3 There are a lot of mental health resources available to help the weight and pain you may be feeling. Huge Kudos to our super hard working volunteer SAR Teams, as well as our Patrollers. You do SO much!!!! Take care and be easy on yourself xx
Happy Friday! <3 It's snowing on the Hill! Here's hoping (as always) for more than the 10cm forecast to Fall but there will be a lot of wind loaded areas tomorrow with today's strong winds in the Alpine (already 70kmh and increasing). 64 Runs are groomed on Blackcomb. Is that the most we've seen all season? Have a terrific Weekend - we'll have a real mix bag of weather! ^_^
Yesterday's Flurries amounted to just a couple of CMs on the stake but some softer groomers (57 on Blackcomb, 39 on Whis) will be fun to rip, with softer side hits than last week! Happy Thursday!
How gorgeous was yesterday eh? Corrrr. We're joined today by overcast skies and flurries! Hopin' you're all well and I'll get working on February's playlist and Tracks of the Day tonight ^_^
Sunshine today (anyone else getting the signs of a goggle tan forming?) along with some northerly air flow and cooler temps (an Alpine High of -6 forecast). Yesterday was a blast eh? Our very firm base however is lingering pretty close to the surface and is tricky to bond to: be cautious in your backcountry decision making! Happy Tuesday!
How was your weekend? Ready for some alpine pow?? It looks like a little more than 10cm sits on the storm board this morning but after such high winds yesterday and limited lift access: there will be plenty of wind blown stashes to find! Be very cautious of lurking debris and some dust on crust areas. 36cm in 48 hours is great to see but may not be enough to bond to our smooth crusts and our Avi bulletin yesterday advised this snow sits atop weak faceting and surface hoar too! Be cautious <3
Huge congratulations to our December 'Be vocal about a Local' winner Denise Breining ^_^ She won Beer from Coast Mountain Brewing and Swag and a Gift voucher from Stinky's on the Stroll (sorry Stinky about the Niners)! For January we have 2 Superfly vouchers from The Adventure Group to give to a worthy winner but for February we have 2 Vallea Lumina tickets to give: keep your eyes and ears peeled and send in your nominations to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com x
Happy Friday!! Another glorious sunny day awaits before a low pressure trough arrives tomorrow that brings precip and cold temperatures. It won't be a big dump, but it's somethin'! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend! ^_^
Happy Sunshiney Thursday! ^_^ Second Winter is coming... but with only around 20cm this weekend and then cool temperatures and clear skies forecast. We'll see!
Oh would you look at that, more sunshine and inverted temperatures! I've gotta say, the groomers have been super fun and grippy to rip recently: 51 on Blackcomb today and 41 on whistler! And hot damn, the sky was on fire last night: what a sunset eh? <3 Snow is on the way this weekend but it remains to be seen how much will fall! 20cm? Happy Wednesday!
Happy Tuesday!! More sunshine and inverted temperatures today (and until Saturday): we'll have a mainly sunny morning with some increased cloud this afternoon and light to moderate winds.
There's a glimmer of hope on the horizon for new snow on the weekend but expect this blocking anti-cyclone/high pressure to continue to bring inverted temperatures and sunny skies (and gorgeous sunsets) throughout the week, and thus, variable snow underfoot: corn, sugar, slush, skied-out hard pack, you name it!!
The inversion arrives today: expect to see temperatures in the Alpine of +2 today and +5 tomorrow! Crikey! Today we have an incredibly special Guest joining us in the Local Lounge: G.D. Maxwell! ^_^ G.D. Maxwell (Max), who has been gracing the final Pages of the Pique for 26 years, reminisces about his favourite changes in the community - as well as his 'least'; chats about the challenges Whistler faces in terms of size, growth, wealth and aging; our Housing; Whiskey gets a mention; as well as some other treasured tidbits of Whistler History. Thanks Max for appearing on the Pulse but most importantly for your 26 + years of dedicated Whistler incite and for keeping us informed, entertained, some readers bristling, but for always inciting discussion, every Thursday in the Pique! <3
Womp womp womp! Just 5cm overnight with high winds today and really mild temperatures (above freezing at 1600m): not the snow some had hoped for before the arrival of tomorrow's alpine inversion. Get your sunscreen/zinc ready Folks ;)
Mornin'!! Cloudy skies will dominate today, with some precip kicking off this afternoon and due to fall through the night. Here's hoping for more than the 10-14cm forecast eh? Ha. Get your sunscreen ready for Saturday!
Thanks for the sleep in yesterday ;)
I know - the forecast doesn't have the reset we're hoping for but Saturday's spring skiing conditions could require sun screen and the Vitamin D won't go amiss either: especially with yesterday being 'Blue Monday'! Happy Tuesday!
Happy Friday!! Today is looking for a mix of sun and cloud, with an alpine high of +1, much like yesterday: but with 52 groomed runs to rip on Blackcomb and 36 on Whistler today! Lots of news, info and events to tide you over the weekend...and maybe Monday as well ;) Have a great weekend! <3
Mild temps still reside on the hill this morning and today is forecast to be cloudy with sunny breaks. Thankfully, the freezing level didn't drastically lower overnight, or today's groomers could feel like corrugated iron! You don't know until you go though. Happy Thursday!
Yeah nah, I don't fancy skiing today - do you?? The coolest temperature on the Mt as I recorded today's episode was -0.1 by the Horstman Hut! That's gonna cause some really kaleidoscoping on your goggles and even challenge the best ski gear!! This front is expected to dissipate by morning, with mild temperatures to remain but a reduction in precipitation. I met our rooms will be sparkling and our chores done by day's end, eh?
Ooooof! It's gonna be a heavier 15cm than we've skied recently :/ Temperatures are above freezing at Pig Alley (1650m) and Catskinner (1570m) and winds are swirling near or above 100kmh in the alpine. The freezing level will rise further today, but is forecast to rise even further tomorrow! Wear your best waterproof gear and look out underfoot in the valley: it's super slick with rain atop compact snow! Oh: and look out above for roof avalanches, especially with those gnarly icicles!
How about that sunshine and warm temps yesterday? Beautiful! <3 But it foretold the arrival of a warmer/wetter low pressure front, which arrives today but gains more momentum and milder temperatures tonight through to Weds eve/Thursday morning. I'm heading up for a few soft groomers before the wetter snow arrives. Be super cautious moving forward into backcountry travel(as well as in resort steeper terrain, with the Avi danger due to really increase! Happy Monday!!
Yesterday's and today's more pronounced inverted Temps should be interesting to ski! -1/-2 circa 1600m but -12 in the valley: the snow might be best at low elevations and the alpine will likely be very wind effected. But hey, you don't know until you go ^_^ Much warmer temperatures and sunny skies expected for Sunday. Have a great weekend! And keep you eyes peeled on Instagram for a giveaway ;)
9cm overnight with an inversion this morning: -15 in the Valley but -6 at 1800m! Happy Thursday!
Another 4cm eh? If yesterday's inspection is anything to go by, there's more ;) Especially in the trees: so be sure to ride with Buddies 'cause Tree Wells are no joke! Happy Wednesday!
4cm eh? Pffff. Head on up and discover for yourself that more fell overnight ;) High winds in the Alpine again this morning: with you and I both hoping for the Whistler Alpine to crack. See ya up there! ^_^
This podcast episode was recorded a lot earlier than usual and is coupled with a lot of speculation on what lifts will open today: with high alpine winds continuing this morning but an ease in snowfall anticipated this afternoon, alongside a drop in temperatures: our Mountain staff teams are busting their asses to do all they can - understaffed across the board. Crystal was the highest elevation chair to open yesterday: I bet it was all time! With another 20cm today and snow still falling, expect a reset mid-mountain but with a total of 80cm in the past 24 hours, be safe and cautious and ride with buddies <3 There's more snow on the way!!
Happy NYE! Woah - there goes 2021! I bet it feels like a whirlwind of a year for you too eh? I hope this crazy year had lots of great memories too, despite it's obvious (and current) challenges <3 Here's hoping 2022 brings us spring skiing... I know, what a dreamer! Ha.
Wishing you nothing but the best for 2022! Let's enjoy this storm riding coming our way (expect very busy lines mind you: on the hill and on the roads again) and be thankful for all we have! ^_^
Well, well, well: a couple of freshies eh? 3 pushing 6cm on the storm board this morning with excitement for this weekend's accumulations building too! :D I hope you're feeling healthy, staying warm, and your pipes aren't bursting <3 Tomorrow is the last day of the year! Crikey. Send in your December 'Be vocal about a Local' nominations! ^_^
Yesterday's inverted, milder MT temperatures of around -11 had me thinking I'd go for a few runs today between double shifts but the current alpine temps of -22 and winds of 50kmh have made me think again ;) The weekend will see a low pressure front arrive with fresh snow though! ^_^ Wahoooo.
Well, 'warmer' isn't a word you want to use right now but it is less cold on the Mountain than in the Valley again today! But still... Brrrrrrrrr. I hope you're staying warm! Want to win a delicious 4 pack of Coast Mountain Beer today?? Listen in and send in your answer to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com ^_^ Keep your stories and nominations for December's 'Be vocal about a Local' coming to: so we can gift someone's kindness with swag from Stinky's on the Stroll and Beer from Coast Mt Brewing! <3
Brrrrrrr!!! It's official -21 in the village is the coldest temperature recorded on December 27th in Whistler Village! Don't just wrap up warm, stay indoors! Ha. Did you ski yesterday? Gnarly! Today will be marginally warmer with lighter winds but put some toe warmers in before you head up to avoid frost nip, seriously! I hope you had a fantastic Christmas. I know it's been a really tough one for many :( Hang in there! And lift your glasses together virtually, with family and friends, if you're isolating right now <3
Merry Christmas Eve! <3 Just a couple of CMs sat on the storm board this morning but a flurry continues, with increased cloud forecast this afternoon and those frigid, potentially record breaking temperatures, due to really hit this evening and tomorrow! Stay safe and reach out to all your loved ones and those in need this Holiday period! I know it's going to be a very challenging one for many of us. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas though xxx
30cm!!!! Grab your gear and get after it. You betcha the Alpine is gonna be wind effected and take a while to open today after yesterday, so patience will be a virtue: expect busy lines of course! See ya up there but for those who can't, there'll be other days <3
11cm eh? The freezing level did rise last night, and is due to rise again today, with reports of heavy, saturated snow and rain in the valley (0 degrees)and winds rockin' around 100kmh at the Horstman Hut (6 degrees). Tomorrow will be the better day but you don't know until you go: I'm heading for a dabble!
I've made sure to put the right track up today ;) Sorry Folks! <3
SNOW is on the way tonight!!!! Whoop whoop. Ride with buddies! ^_^ Plan accordingly for a busy couple of pow days: our town is busy with revelers for their Christmas holidays and the 'Rona is on the rise! New Covid restrictions came into effect yesterday and Dr. Bonnie Henry and Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth have a technical briefing today at 1:30... Stay safe on the hill and on the roads (black ice and incoming heavy snow): a brisk, scenic, snowy walk was quicker for most people yesterday!!
What a weekend eh?? This week is shaping up to be a beauty too: expect more people on the hill however with the Christmas Holidays now in full swing ^_^ Happy Monday!
With a storm rolling in this evening - and extreme winds forecasted - expect to see busy conditions on the Mts over the weekend and approaching Christmas. Lift lines during this week have been fantastic but a change is coming as Kids finish school for the holidays and our town sees an influx of visitors: adjust your expectations accordingly ;) Remember last Saturday? Expect a similar scenario tomorrow with heavy precip; a freezing level rising to 1000m on Saturday afternoon and high winds sky-rocketing the Avi danger: meaning limited terrain and thus a high concentration of riders. Sunday however, sees a ridge of high pressure return and a return to the cooler temps we've been experiencing but be sure to read the latest avalanche blog for the Sea to Sky from Avalanche Canada: even inbounds requires a lot of consideration right now! Stay safe and Happy Friday! ^_^
Just a couple of CMs sit on the storm board this morning but light flakes continue to fall and are due to give way to clearer skies this afternoon. Tomorrow, the ridge will give way to a front bringing us heavy snow with extreme winds also forecast (expect similar conditions and lift lines on Saturday to last Saturday)!
Maybe you're going to enjoy a sleep in today? Rest your legs? I don't blame ya! But... visibility looks set to be superb again and there's still plenty of pow to hunt ;) I hope you've had some fantastic skiing recently! We've got a break in accumulations - with cool temperatures remaining - until the next front arrives on Friday. Please send in your December nominations for 'Be Vocal About a Local' to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com : we want to reward someone's awesome deed/act/self with wicked swag from Stinky's on the Stroll, alongside awesome Brews from Coast Mountain Brewing! ^_^ Happy Wednesday!
Rise and Shine Powder Hounds! It's another pow day!! <3 Yesterday's great vis was magical and today's cold smoke will be just as great and it's shaping up to have some great visibility too! Wahooooo. See ya up there!
Whoops - this episode went a little longer than it should :/ Sorry! Hopin' you all had a terrific weekend (despite Saturday's ginormous queues)! There's another 10cm of fresh today with flurries expected today and tonight, and another system to arrive on Friday (it's early days though). Happy Monday!
Happy Friday!! A front will roll in this afternoon, bringing some much anticipated snow (30cm+ in the alpine) but the freezing level is predicted to shoot up to an estimated 1200m at one point. The Valley and Sea to Sky Highway is forecasting as much as 20cm of snow: heaviest being overnight tonight!
Yesterday was this Podcast's one year anniversary!!! Woah <3 Thank you so much for listening!! Let's keep the good vibes high and in the spirit of our wonderful community: send in your nominations for 'Be Vocal about a Local' - nominate someone for being an awesome individual and they could receive December's prize of Stinky's on the Stroll Swag and Beer from Coast Mountain Brewing! ^_^ Send in your story to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com
How great were those runs in the sun yesterday? ^_^ Expect more of the same today: so wrap up warm: it's around -10 at the top of Jersey! FYI - the ski out to the Base of Blackcomb via Magic chair is G2G: a little thin and super firm but will save you downloading ;) Look out for the territorial Grouse at the bottom of Smoked Salmon too! Lots of events from Arts Whistler crackin' off: including tonight's first performance of Laugh Out Live!
Well, there's certainly not as much snow recorded as hoped for this morning, but that doesn't mean it won't be fun exploring leeward terrain in the return to cooler temperatures. I know you're pumped for Saturday and Sunday too: it's coming ;)
Wasn't yesterday on the hill a great refresher for our legs? ;) Conditions were still firm underfoot - in fact - very slick in spots: particular on tracked out ski-outs where yesterday's snow couldn't bond to the thick rain-freeze crust! But things are on the up: with more snow expected tonight and a big Dump coming our way this Friday! Wahoooo. The Alpine has fantastic coverage but it is still early season: make conservative decisions to ensure a long season ^_^
FRESHIES!!! The storm board was pushing 15cm before it was cleared this morning and with the cold temperatures, expect some cold smoke to play in this morning!! That rain-freeze crust is still lingering underneath however, so don't let it give you too false a sense of security ;) 7th Heaven and Harmony cracked on Saturday, so there's more terrain to shred but a super thin/non-existent ski out means download queues are long!
Got a December nomination for 'Be vocal About a Local'? Know someone who's been a kind, selfless or charitable individual and deserves some recognition? We want to make their day by gifting them some sweet swag from Stinky's on the Stroll and some super tasty brews from Coast Mountain Brewing! Send in your stories to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com Happy shredding!
Mornin'! How great was it to see and soak up the sunshine yesterday? ^_^ Well... it wasn't great to see the ski-out has disappeared, and although visibility was primo, the skiing was not and with no new snow, atop a rain effected snow pack, and temps around -10 mid-mountain this morning: firm is an understatement! Dress warm and take your sharpest edges! Be Vocal about a Local is open for nominations for December! Email thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com to nominate someone for being a selfless/kind/rad individual and they could receive some super sweet swag from Stinky's on the Stroll and Beer from Coast Mountain Brewing - just for being awesome! <3
Sunshine is on the way Folks! <3 Along with cooler temperatures on the hill and in the valley: meaning ski runs will be super firm!! Enjoy the vitamin D ^_^
Mornin'! Enjoy your sleep in today ;) But seriously, let's hope today's continued onslaught of rain doesn't have further consequences for BC :'(
Grab your gear and make the most of this morning's 10cm! It'll be followed by more snow this morning around mid mountain until the Pineapple Express arrives in full force this afternoon and the freezing level shoots up to an expected 2300m!
Hopin' you stayed dry this weekend and on a more serious note, that you and yours are safe from flooding here and in our neighbouring communities <3 More heavy rainfall is forecasted for tomorrow through Wednesday and there will be an update at 10am today on the Duffey: r.e. it's ongoing precautionary closure as of 4pm on Saturday.
Happy Friday! Despite some warmer temperatures mid-mountain last night, today's break in precipitation before the oncoming storm should be a good day to enjoy some social laps (40 trails open across WB)and keep building up those muscles! It's a long season though: despite yesterday's great early season coverage, be cautious out there ;)
OPENING DAY!!!! How good was it to hear the Avi bombs yesterday? Keeners/campers were spotted yesterday and even some 6am-ers at Blackcomb base before the Corral could even curl it's way towards HandleBar! Here's expecting the base lift times to be a fraction of last year - what was the longest time you waited? So have yourselves a terrific opening day shredding 6cm (26cm+ in the last 7 days) before the temperatures and winds rise this afternoon through tomorrow and especially the weekend. See ya up there!
Just two more sleeps until opening day! With a rain warning again in effect for the coming days, expect Thursday to be soggy: get your clothing re-DWR'd ;) With a ski-out to the bottom looking very doubtful too, we'll be enjoying giving our spent legs a rest by downloading! Where will you be aprésing on opening day? Stinky's on the Stroll will be going off and Coast Mountain Brewing have a launch party for their new Tantalized Golden Ale with Foxy Moron on the decks from 3-5pm ^_^
Today we're joined by phenomenal human Chad Sayers in the Local Lounge! Chad shares more about his journey as a pro-skier and travel photographer; his wonderful and very personal new book Overexposure; soul skiing; industry changes; journaling; and how hockey is a great pre-season warm up ;) YOU can win a 4-pack of Coast Mountain Brewing's super tasty Double IPA: The Alpinist - just by listening and answering the question I ask, first, by email @ thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com Good luck!!
WOAH!!! How you doin'? Stayed dry and safe? I hope so! Remember to check out the WCSS's Whistler Navigator: it's a great resource for local amenities and resources, especially in times of trouble!!
There is tonnes of info and a plethora of local events in today's episode! Once opening day arrives and the Podcast returns to 5 episodes a week, episodes will be a lot shorter ^_^ Teehee
Morning!! Apologies for the super late upload :/ Tech difficulties this morning! Sigh. We have more snow to fall in the alpine but it's followed on Sunday by warmer conditions at elevation and rain! Got any Local events to share on the Podcast? Holla at thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com ^_^
The Whistler Pulse is back after a 3 week hiatus! Whoop whoop! Thanks for continuing to listen ^_^ Please get in touch with feedback on what you'd like to hear more of on this podcast at: thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com
What a week: the valley's first snowfall; tornado warnings south of Whistler; Cornucopia is on; Ski and Snowboard movie premieres are well underway; and all this snow and rain means it's a great opportunity to enjoy local restaurant deals and our Arts and Culture scene! I can hear the clock ticking until opening day :D Happy Tuesday!
Happy belated Thanksgiving! I hope your last day in the bike park was absolutely terrific and that you were able to spend time with friends and family. It's a time of reflection and can be a very lonely time of year. If you are feeling overwhelmed in any way, please reach out. There are so many resources in our community to help: the WCSS; Howe Sound Women's Society; Drop-in outreach at the Library, etc <3
I'm sorry to report that the Podcast will be taking a short break so that I can visit my Family <3 It will be back in November and with Winter looming, I would love your feedback and input!!! Have some ideas? Want to sponsor the 'Be vocal about a Local' initiative? Please get in touch: thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com
Take it easy and enjoy the Foraging for me ;) THANK YOU!
Hopin' you get to enjoy today's sunshine: cooler temps and showers will dominate the weekend unfortunately. Got any weekend plans? There are lots of events to keep you entertained ;)
Happy Friday!
This Tuesday episode is stacked with info!!! Including the latest winner of the 'Be vocal about a Local' initiative!! <3
Hang tight with the rain today and tomorrow: take a look at the snowy alpine to remember if it's snowing in the valley, it'll be dumping in the alpine soon enough ;)
Lotsa like x
Sunshine and blue sky on the Duffey webcam are hopeful signs that today's forecast of a precip-free day are on track! ;) Hoping you're well and that you see a literal or metaphorical Rainbow today <3
My apologies for not delivering an episode on Friday: I forgot my podcast gear on a wonderful trip to the Sunshine Coast! Speaking of sunshine... don't count on it until Friday, ha ;) Snow in the Alpine; The Duff[e]y webcam is back (should we start a poll for how long transmission lasts this time?); plus lots of events upcoming, in particular for Truth and Reconciliation day on Thursday <3
Sunshine <3
Enjoy it! We will have showers tonight and tomorrow but clearer weather comes back on Thursday and through the weekend. Yipppeee.
Did I miss some events? Please send them to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com in advance ^_^
Woah!! That's a lot of snow!! We knew it was going to be tempestuous this weekend but I'm sure your stoke for winter is gonna take you by surprise when you see how much snow fell and has still to fall! Yeeeeeeeeew.
We have a wonderful Guest in the Local Lounge today: Sam Marra from the Howe Sound Women's Centre. Thank you SO much Sam for everything you and your dedicated team at the HSWC do within our communities! <3
Sure, it's a little cloudy today and we're due rain but c'est la vie. Tomorrow looks to clear with better weather on Thursday before a big drop in temperatures! I feel like today's biggest news is the Bylaw amendment to the speed limit on municipal roads in Whistler: which will be reduced from 50kmh to 30!! Details on the Roads page of whistler.ca
People might be harking on that Summer is over (not me): but this weekend's stacked roster of events says otherwise! You are spoiled for choice on events this weekend to attend and observe! The weather outside is weather too: dress appropriately. It's just a few showers ;)
HAPPY FRIDAY ^_^
Happy Friday and Long Weekend! Got any plans? Look out for heavy traffic, which will likely effect your drive at some point locally this Labour Day long weekend! A few trail closures to note today; reservations ending at Meadow Park when it reopens on Tuesday; it's your last opportunity to bid on the Amazing Chairity project chairs this weekend; get your freaking 'Be vocal about a Local' nominations in - spread some love (and cheese and spreads from Picnic Whistler); and it's the last opportunity to ride the P2P - Monday until Winter operations start! Bon weekend! ^_^
I see fresh snow on the Peak webcam this morning but I'm not gonna say the Stark House moto just yet... I remember swimming in Levette Lake in October last year. None the less, we'll have a cool day today and better weather tomorrow through to Saturday. Lotsa bike info; trail closures and local environmental issues/observances in today's episode. And seriously - wrack your brain - who do you know to nominate for 'Be Vocal about a Local'? Someone selfless that deserves an OG Box from Picnic Whistler? Nominate them: thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com
Happy Tuesday!
Top tip for Alpine hiking: Always take a hot water bottle ;)
I tried to cover loadsa events today: please email in any you'd like to share! I'll be ramping up the Local Lounge again soon ^_^ but crikey: please send in your nominations for 'Be Vocal About a Local' - you can gift someone a delicious OG Box from Picnic Whistler just for having been a rad human <3 Happy Friday!
I know, it's a Monday - wtf eh?! Well, Summer is super short and sometimes ya gotta fit in the overnight hikes at inopportune times. We booked the camping spot 2 months ago after all: we're committed.
Got anything you want to include in Friday's podcast? Help a sister out and send in your info to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com or how about you send in a recording of a great joke to include? ;)
Comin' at ya a day early ;) Remember: if you ever have any event info or local info you'd like to contribute - get in touch via thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com That includes your 'Be vocal about a Local' nominations ^_^ Happy Thursday!
Happy Tuesday! I hope you loved hearing yesterday's and last night's rain too! ^_^ Hoping for rain in the interior and that yesterday's lightning didn't cause any fires :'( Bike trails will have had a much needed reset, as have some dusty hiking trails!
Friday the 13th eh?
There's an Air Quality advisory in effect for many parts of southern BC for the next 24-48 hours. Air quality at time of upload was 3!
To be clear: Alta Lake only has Lakeside Park closed currently due to unsafe levels of e.coli - but the other parks on Alta Lake (Wayside, the L Dock, Rainbow Park, as well as the Blueberry Docks) do not have regular sampling... Be very wary of where you swim right now!
Sorry for the late upload: watching last night's meteors must've clouded my head.
Send in your 'Be vocal about a Local' nominations! <3
Stay hydrated (always) over the next few days as we see temperatures back in the low and mid 30's; keep your eyes peeled skyward at night to enjoy the peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower; and email any suggestions you have for topics and content you want to hear more of on the podcast! <3 thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com
How amazing was Arts Whistler's Art on the Lake yesterday?? Here's hopin' you were amongst the many able to enjoy it! <3
Here's also hoping for rain this weekend with our forecast showers; as well as for YOU to send in nominations for 'Be Vocal about a Local'!!!!!! ;) Send in your stories of someone being awesome and selfless and they could win an OG Box from Picnic Whistler. Omm nomm. Happy Friday!

Happy Tuesday
Happy Friday!! Leading in to the weekend, I hope you have some great plans for Local Music and outdoor rec. With BC in a state of Emergency with 300+ wildfires across the province: you never know if and when we could be effected close to home. Be prepared for an evacuation by preparing a bag and make the most of the clean air - it can turn smokey so quickly!
Lots of Tuesday edition info for you here: a tad later than usual as I'm on vacation ;)
GET NOMINATING for 'Be Vocal About a Local'. Know someone that's done something amazing, who you'd like to recognize by nominating them to receive an OG Picnic Box from Picnic Whistler? Don't be shy - submit your story! ^_^
Happy Friday!! Here's hoping some rain in today's and tomorrow's forecast comes to fruition. Shower's are predicted at a 40% chance - clearing tomorrow afternoon.
Thought of anyone you want to nominate for being a rad individual? Someone who's been slefless or done a good community deed? Send in your submissions for 'Be vocal about a Local' and they could win an extraordinary OG Picnic Box from Picnic Whistler!!!
I'm trying not to itch my bugs bites as I type this! Such is the price for a Canadian Summer and a beautiful scene on Lillooet Lake yesterday.
Info in today's episode about WCSS; a new Mural; WORCA; Sunday concerts at The Point; The return of the Whistler Half Marathon; the upcoming Whistler Excellence Awards; and Toadlets!
Happy Tuesday ^_^
Ohiyo!! Hopin' your weekend is off to a rockin' start and that you've had a great week ^_^ You can make someone's week even better by nominating them for 'Be Vocal about a Local'! ;) If they've been an awesome human and you want to acknowledge them/their selfless act, we have an OG Picnic Box from Picnic Whistler to reward them with! <3
The Whistler Children's Festival kicks off today; There's a Wimbledon party tomorrow you don't want to miss (The first ever Wimbledon tennis championship began on this day in 1877!! - It was the first official lawn tennis tournament - men's singles only); Look out for more collection opportunities on the Lakes if you don't have a life jacket or Whistle; Nester's Hill Bike Trails are OPEN; and the High Note and Half Note trails will likely open this weekend ^_^
The Local Lounge is Back today with special Guest Ryan Harris! Ryan joins us to chat about where his guitar playing started; what he does professionally and creatively; the importance of genuine discourse on your talents, not empty over-professing; what's next for his music; along with his love for Saunas AND he shares his latest track Sundays with us! ^_^
Happy Friday!
Mornin'!! Happy Tuesday Folks. Even though it's cooler out there than last week, stay hydrated and very much be vigilant if we do get some lightning, as forecast :( There is of course a camp fire ban in effect!!
Send in your nominations for 'Be Vocal About a Local'! Know someone who's been super selfless and gone above and beyond? Pay it forward with this incentive and they could receive an OG Picnic Box from Picnic Whistler! ^_^ <3
Apologies in advance for the admittedly sombre tone this morning. Life isn't all highs but growth is constant - or can be - and I hope you're all doing okay; finding avenues to process how you're feeling; and ways to support others <3
The 'Be Vocal about a Local' campaign is BACK: where YOU nominate someone for being awesome and they could receive an incredibly tasty OG Picnic Box from the fantastic local business: Picnic Whistler. Congratulations to Amy on her 1 year anniversary at Picnic Whistler ^_^ and huge thanks for supporting this initiative. Get your nominations sent in for July to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com
And yes, that was the Whistler Pulses' Insta story reposted by @JerryOftheDay during the week ;)
Happy Friday!
I waxed a little lyrical on today's episode! Whoops!!! There was a helluva lot to cover: Swimmer's Itch; Pemby evacuation efforts; Record-breaking Temps; the end of school today; Meadow Park being a cooling centre for people yesterday and today; kayaking/floating the Valley trail; the RoGD portage; the petition to change Park Parking for Locals online (at 500+ signatures; Peak Chair potentially opening; Gondola closures due to heat, etc, etc.
Thanks so much for listening! I'll try to be more concise on Friday ;) Stay cool x
This heat wave will be no joke: with temperatures above 30 degrees for the next 10 days; nearing 40 degrees even - treat exposure to the sun seriously and make sure you and others are protected from heat stroke and are well hydrated! <3 Keep blinds closed during the day; time activities in cooler hours; and if you're drinking alcohol, drink water alongside!!! I expect there'll be a fire ban announced for camp fires any day now too!
Happy Friday Folks. Expect the weekend and from here on out to be buuuuuusy: school is out on Tuesday!
Be Vocal About a Local is BACK!!!! Get your nominations in for amazing individuals you want to selflessly nominate for a prize - just for being kind - to be announced next week ;)
That's right: your Tuesday episode comes a day early this week so yours truly can head camping ^_^ Sorry!
Whistler, Howe Sound and the Sunshine coast still have a special weather statement in effect and next weekend looks set to be even hotter with this high pressure sticking around! School is out on Tuesday 29th - expect local spots to be busier - Whistler got a glimpse of how busy it will be for the summer this weekend! Day passes kick off tomorrow for The Stawamus Chief and Garibaldi Park: you'll be able to get them at 7am the day BEFORE you plan to DAY hike!
See ya Friday Folks ;)
Happy Friday!! We can't stop talking about how great the weather is and is going to be, can we? School is out in a week though and with Day passes being introduced at Garibaldi Park and the Stawamus Chief, as well as Joffre Lakes, I'd be strategically utilising the 'calm before the storm' period, if I were you ;)
Pack sunscreen; bug spray; bear spray; a roadie; and let the good times roll! <3
Sure, it's rainy again but I think we can safely say that we'll be enjoying not having any precipitation for the better part of a whole week! Huzzah!! Expect the skies to clear this afternoon and evening and sunshine to stick around through the weekend. June 15th marks a change in Covid restrictions here too: Bars can now be open until midnight! Woahhhh. What a notion. Expect your hangovers to intensify ;)
Thanks for listening! Feedback always welcome: thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com
Warm weather is looming, hang tight Team!
Apologies again for not tying down an interviewee for the Local Lounge this week! <3 I want to reignite the 'Be Vocal About a Local' campaign though!! If you know of a business who may be interested in contributing prizing for the initiative: wherein listeners nominate rad humans for having been awesome: who've gone above and beyond for the community or someone else - a local selfless act - we want to award them!! ^_^
Have a great weekend Folks ^_^
Oh boy!! I did not sleep well! Time to shake it off and get geared up for a hike in the sunshine.
My sincere apologies for the erratic delivery of today's info. It isn't in it's usual order but hey, that might keep ya on your toes! ^_^
Enjoy today's sunshine. Warmer temps are heading our way for the weekend but Junuary continues with it's temps in the teens and it's showers! But damn, that rainbow yesterday sure hit the spot eh?
Those moisture laden clouds are moving in eh? Remember: a wet Junuary is crucial in keeping down the threat of devastating wildfires! ;)
Lots of info in today's episode. Sorry for the 'sleep-ins' team! It's the summer and my alarm goes off at 5:45 for three days of the week as it is! Ha. Have a great weekend. Get at me at thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com with suggestions and feedback! ^_^
June 1st eh? Wow! If I may advise, enjoy all the good weather you can and maximise on your time off because if you blink, you'll miss Summer! Solstice is only 3 weeks away!! Let's hope Junuary isn't as bad as it was last year: I remember a day time high of 7 degrees at one point! Sheesh. Happy Tuesday!
Those clouds will break soon for a warm and sunny weekend! Expect Whistler to be busier with visitors this weekend too with the new BC restart plan and in-door dining open again. HUZZAH! The Cheakamus Lake trail car park was busy last Sunday: so try to be tactical on when you go! ;)
Don't miss Introduce Wolves playing LIVE tonight at 7pm: Live stream via Arts Whistler! Evan Kinsella and the Tide play tomorrow at 7pm!
WORCA kicked off their first of 15 virtual Toonie rides this week and you still have until midnight to complete the route and obtain your trail forks badge to be eligible for prizing! After Big Kev told me I looked like I was wearing Pyjamas last sunday, I'll look a little more presentable this week and see ya at the Farmers Market on Sunday ^_^ Have a fantastic weekend. Thanks for listening. Apologies for no Local Lounge this week. I'm on it ;)
How was your long weekend? Spring showers will linger all week but we have some warm, sunny and hot weather en route for the weekend and beyond! Restaurants open for in-room dinign today!! HUZZAH! That includes Stinky's on the Stroll! <3 Stroll on down for all your thirst, hunger and sporting needs!
Happy Friday! It's the start of a sunny long weekend but expect to see a large RCMP presence throughout the S2S corridor, in wake of their statement yesterday. GO Fest is happening virtually this weekend: with a stacked roster of events! Check out their schedule on their website! Wear sunscreen, be happy, be safe ^_^
Well, well, well! An inch of snow this morning eh? Sheesh! I hope our outdoor plants survive. Potential thunderstorms are forecast this afternoon - could be likely with Vancouver having one yesterday evening! Hope you enjoy the news, music recommendation and giggle! As always, please get in touch with feedback and have yourselves a great week! ^_^
What a stunning day yesterday was and so today and tomorrow is forecast to be too! Sick!! Speaking of stunning: stunners Little Earthquakes are today's super special guests in the Local Lounge and their track Let Go is sure to elevate your Friday! Stinkys on the Stroll will do just that too - they're open until 7pm today!
Thanks so much for listening - have yourselves a fantastic weekend! I'll be having my debut weekend at Mountain FM tomorrow and Sunday - Weeeeee - so tune in for Local info and banter to keep you company on this beautiful weekend! x
Look at that forecast!!! Some showers are predicted tomorrow but sunscreen worthy weather is coming our way until Sunday/Monday with temps of 21 degrees forecast!! I don't know about you, but I'm thrilled! Lots covered today. Here's hoping you had a fantastic weekend and enjoy adventuring in this upcoming warm spell! ^_^
Police Stings, Fires and Cyber Hacking - Oh My!! The Sea to Sky often has it's fair share of drama. After yesterday's afternoon tempest, a ground fire broke out in between Mt Currie and the In-Shuck-ch FSR; police were out in force undertaking some kind of sting operation around the village; and the library's website remains down following the RMOW's cyber security incident. Expect today's rain to ease by tomorrow morning and for the weekend to have a mix of sun and cloud and warmer temperatures. Have a great one! ^_^
May the Fourth be with you! ;) What a lovely Spring weekend eh? We have some lovely weather today and tomorrow before a return of some showers on Thursday and a cool day forecast on Friday! Keep yours ears peeled to Stinky's on the Stroll's SM feeds for Stinko De Mayo info! And if you want a great read - lemme know! ^_^
Mornin'! Don't worry Team, yesterday's briefly sunny afternoon wasn't the only sunshine you'll see for the foreseeable. We'll have showers and sunny breaks over the weekend with mild temps around 14 degrees! Lots of events happening virtually, including the last day of the WSSF today! Apologies for missing some local birthday shout-outs today :/ Happy birthday to Steve Shore!
Do you have a nomination for 'Be Vocal about a Local'? Share your stories of people being stand-up humans and we'll get them some prizing for being simply awesome! <3 Being kind is easy! Have a fantastic weekend - May the Fourth be with you... see you Tuesday! ;)
Aloha!! What a beautiful spot of sunshine yesterday ^_^ Gotta love that about spring: the rain symbol in the weather forecast doesn't mean it will be grey all day! <3 I hope the showers are helping with your hayfever and that you're enjoying some biek trails. The WORCA team are back at it and have upcoming volunteer trail nights for 10 people! Check out their website for all the info!
See you Friday!
Happy Friday Folks! Enjoy this morning's last few rays of sunshine before the rain rolls in! I'll be playing scrabble and catching up on some chores and life admin - here's hopin' the Grey skis aren't too much of a punch after this glorious April weather! Next week's Local Lounge will have a special Guest. Enjoy your weekend - see ya Tuesday! x
What a glorious weekend eh? I hope you protected your skin though and are able to make the most of these next few sunny, but cooler days - the weather will change on Thursday and Friday's expected temp of 10 degrees may come as a bit of a shock after this beautiful summer preview! ^_^
Sorry for the late upload Team (8:30am) - big file today and lots covered! Especially exciting is today's Local Lounge with Liam and Rory from Introduce Wolves <3 We chat about their influences; origin of their name; their new material being recorded; how innovative they've been in getting virtual shows online; how Arts Whistler are killing it; and we laugh about Grime and Biffy Clyro.
Have a wonderful weekend y'all. Enjoy the sunshine. I'll be lifting a shot of Jager to dear Andy Logan <3 Cheers!
Summer programming is underway: with episodes on Tuesdays and Fridays now ^_^ How've you been? How're you holding up? I hope this week's sunshine does wonders for your mood and you're able to enjoy it! <3 Hang in there Team. x
My sincere apologies Team for not having a Guest on this week's Local Lounge! Moving forward, I'll be doing the Podcast on Tuesday and Friday Mornings at 8:15am (ish) If you have any feedback; improvements; shout-outs; suggestions - please get at me!
AND get your last nominations in for this round of prizing for the 'Be Vocal about a Local' initiative before Vallea Lumina closes for it's Winter Season on Sunday! ^_^ Have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe and healthy. See ya Tuesday ;)
Happy Tuesday Team!! I'll be delivering the next Whistler Pulse podcast on Friday, so hopefully there's enough information for you today to tide you over ^_^
Enjoy today's sunshine; keep those chins up; and send in your 'Be Vocal about a Local' nominations would ya? ;) <3
Happy Monday! Hopin' you all had a fun and chocolate filled weekend and make the most of today's sunshine ^_^ Sorry for the lazy upload but I think that's how it's gonna be going forward: 8:15am on Fridays for sure and maybe Tuesdays too. Will decide and announce soon. PLEASE get your 'Be Vocal about a Local' nominations in this week to pay it forward to deserving, selfless humans with Vallea Lumina tickets before they close, and we get into a new round of prizing! <3 <3 <3
Mornin'! I have loved having a bit of a sleep in, I have to admit. Have you? I'm still deciding what format and programming changes to make to the Whistler Pulse for the Summer... Any and all feedback would be very much appreciated! As are NOMINATIONS from YOU to 'Be Vocal about a Local'!!! Nominate someone for their kind deeds by submitting the story and they could win TWO tickets to Vallea Lumina, just for being a stand up human. Get your thinking caps on Folks ;) No entry is too small! Enjoy today's wonderful story from Spuds and Mercle <3 and I'll be here for ya next week! ^_^
Bon weekend!
After taking a break yesterday, it felt weird to not deliver the Whistler Pulse. There will be some programming changes to come of course, but there's still plenty of Local info to provide whilst you brew coffee; eat breakfast; or drive to work, right? I of course want to keep the Local Lounge going, so please reach out to me with feedback and ideas - this Podcast is aimed to serve and inform the community after all ^_^ thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com
If you're coming back from a ski trip without reception and this is the first thing you listen to... weird and thanks! But the news that WB has closed for at least 3 weeks reached our ears circa 1pm yesterday and we won't have the pleasure of lift access terrain, nor the ability to dine-in at restaurants whilst we, and those visiting to ski, distance in an attempt to bring down case numbers. Other ski hills across BC remain open.
I'm gonna figure out what to do with the Whistler Pulse in the interim... perhaps drop it down to 2 episodes a week? A Tuesday show and a Friday show? And publishing it at a more reasonable hour? What d'you think? I would very much appreciate your feedback, so please reach out: thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com
Thank you for listening. Stay safe everyone and be kind <3
If you're not up already for today's bluebird pow day, what are you doin'?? Big night?
It's gonna be stellar Folks! After yesterday's storm and high winds, expect lots of wind loading but also wind effected snow on southerly slopes in the Alpine. Today's sun will warm slopes quickly too, so be strategic and wear sunscreen ^_^ See ya up there! Yeeeeeow
Mornin'!! What a B E A Utiful sunrise today! Make the most of the sunshine if you can because a storm's a brewin'! I forgot to mention about the call for feedback from the new Northlands Lot developers today: don't miss GD Maxwell's Pique column this week! ;) The secret is out about Monday being the Bluebird Powder day to shred but storm skiing on Sunday could be great too!
Today's very special Guests in the Local Lounge are Cam Hyde and Adam G from Red Chair with a VERY special announcement... Thank YOU for listening! Put your thinking cap on and submit a nomination for the 'Be Vocal about a Local' initiative: give TWO Vallea Lumina Tickets to a deserving individual! <3 And have yourselves a great weekend! ^_^
So much for 2cm eh? ;)
Yesterday's south facing slopes got baked and with sun coming later this morning, look out for a sticky ski out too! Ha.
2cm eh? That's what the preliminary snow report says but there's more than 2cm on your driveway this morning! With winds near 90km overnight, expect some wind loaded deeper pockets forrrr suuuure. However: there might also be a lot of dust on crust. Yesterday's morning sun will leave some firm conditions underfoot too!
Happy shredding and Happy Hump day napping!
Skin protection recommended today after yesterday's glorious spring day. We have some snow on the way this evening but only forecast to amount to 3cm with a further 5cm predicted to fall tomorrow morning!
Accumulations are uncertain for the rest of the week right now but trending on light precip. Get that Vitamin D!
After an afternoon of constant dusting, only 3cm is recorded on the storm board this morning BUT with high winds last night and a change of wind direction today, expect to find pockets and/or wind effected snow!
Question for you all... How do you feel about the Spanky's dirty boot pack?
Happy Hunting! ^_^
Hot damn - my alarm didn't go off this morning!! I'm so sorry to deliver you your morning and weekend info much later than I'd like :( Including a chat with very special guest Alan Pickles in today's Local Lounge!! Make sure you listen for a wonderful trip down Whistler Memory Lane. Thanks Al! <3 I'll make up for the late post by giving away a Coast Mountain Brewing 4 pack on Instagram, how about that?
I hope today's wind pockets are deep and that you have a fantastic weekend shredding safely. Save your legs for Monday and Tuesday though ;)
What a beautiful morning after a clearer than expected night! The wet snow is coming though: circa noon and with a high freezing level - it's only 0 degrees at Pig Alley this morning!
Top o' the Mornin' to ya on St Patrick's Day! ^_^
Snow is on the way tomorrow: after clouds this afternoon and potential flurries . Be careful passing the Pemberton Moto Cross track this morning. There was debris on the road near 6am causing damage to vehicles and trying to be located at time of uploading!
Congratulations to the latest winner of our 'Be Vocal about a Local' initiative: Charles Gibeau. Details on Instagram and Facebook. Keep the nominations coming <3 Slainte!
Slip Slop Slap on that sunscreen - it's gonna be another B E A utiful sunshiney day ^_^
Keep your 'Be vocal About a Local' nominations coming and the answer to today's (and yesterday's) question wins a tasty 4 pack from Coast Mountian Brewing!! Slainte
Whoop Whoop - Pow Day!!!!
Expect some cool temps this morning but sunnier skies and warmer conditions this afternoon! See ya up there :)
Happy Friday Folks!!
Apologies if this episode was a little rambly! Ha. I'm heading back to bed for a sleep-in and to let those Groomers thaw ;) Here's hoping for a solid accumulation of 15cm (hopefully more - always) on Sunday but forecasts are varied, as is the predicted freezing level at this point! Spring Break for many Canadians is here or approaching, so expect our town to be busier for the next two weeks! Be the first to answer today's Whistler Trivia question correctly via email and you'll win a delicious 4 pack from Coast Mountain Brewing!
Have a phenomenal weekend <3

Let's hope this episode updates across all the platforms in a timely fashion this morning! If you ever don't see it on Spotify or Itunes or Apple Podcasts by 7:20: check SoundCloud - it'll be there :)
I hope you had a glorious day in the sunshine yesterday. What a stunner! We have more sunshine this week and a mixed forecast on whether we'll receive 20-30cm of high freezing level snow on Sunday!
You have TWO fantastic at home entertainment options tonight: The last performance of Arts Whistler's Hear and Now Festival from Marble Canyon at 7pm; as well as Whistler Live's Spring Break virtual Festival at 6pm with Introduce Wolves; Dakota Pearl and Live in the House!
Mornin'!
How gorgeous was yesterday eh?? We've got variable vis and a high cloud bank this morning but that is due to clear this afternoon.
Lots to listen to today. Please get at me if you have a 'Be vocal about a Local' nomination; or a shout out; or track recommendations too ;) Happy Hump Day!
Here's hoping you had a terrific day yesterday in the sunshine! I sure did on International Women's Day ^_^
This morning's high cloud bank could bring flurries and winds from the east are moderate at 50kmh this morning. We'll have a mix of sun and cloud throughout the day.
And Kali is home!!
Here's hoping you had a terrific weekend and that your knees survived Friday!
Happy International Women's Day! Today BC Parks open their camping availability but only on a 2-month roll out! I.E You can now book camping spots 2 months in advance. Porteau Cove sold out in minutes for May 8th but May 15th will be available to book this Saturday. Ya get me?
Have a wonderful sun-shiney day but play safe - it will be spicy in the backcountry! ^_^
35cm!!! But look out: it could well be heavy schmooooo with that 1500m freezing level. We'll need some steep fall line skiing! With 100km+ winds in the alpine; high Avi risk at all elevations; and a further 30cm due throughout the day - an alpine opening looks unlikely?! The freezing level drops this afternoon and tonight and we have more snow across the weekend.
Today's Local Lounge from Spuds and Mercle really put a smile on my dial. I hope it does yours too! <3 Thanks Fellas! ;)
Keep your 'Be Vocal about a Local' nominations coming!!! Have a wonderful weekend Folks! Shred safely. See ya Monday x
Aloha Kakahiaka Whistler! Get ready for a pineapple express! 0cm and 0 degrees at Pig Alley this morning with moderate-heavy snowfall coming our way but a high freezing level. It'll be wetttttt in the valley!
I missed mentioning a couple of things actually... I'll make sure to mention them tomorrow. Have a great day!
Happy Hump Day! Today is the calm (variable vis and cool temperatures) before tomorrow's storm(high freezing level of 1400m, gusty winds and 'moderate' snowfall)! Lots covered today in the episode. Please get at me with feedback or suggestions. Thank you for listening. I'm here to help! <3 ^_^
Just 2cm overnight and a mix of sun and cloud expected today. With the freezing level dropping overnight, I may well head back to bed for some more shut eye - or rally and go early to see how firm the groomers are. You?
Have a fantastic Tuesday either way :)
Here's hoping you had an awesome weekend! :D
We have unsettled conditions expected over the next few days: flurries and much milder temperatures and more details to come on Thursday's system as we approach it. Please keep your 'Be Vocal about a Local' nominations coming and Stinky recommends you enjoy some Dark side of the Moon today on it's anniversary ;)
Happy Friday Folks!!
Lots covered in today's episode ^_^ Including the debut of Cat Madden's track 'Human Heart' in the Local Lounge <3
Shred safely and look out for sneaky goggle tan lines this weekend ;)
Storm day!!! 9cm on the storm board for the first report today with snow still falling but with winds near 120kmh last night in the alpine and 80kmh this morning, you can expected very reactive storm slabs in the alpine: don't be surprised if Peak and symphony don't open today. The Avi danger is also considerable/dangerous in treeline and below treeline - shred safe and with buddies! ^_^
Thank you for listening <3
Top a' the mornin' to ya! Man, it's gonna be a beauty, isn't it? Here's hoping you enjoyed that '1cm' yesterday! ;) Enjoy the sunshine before tonight's 15cm set's you up for a real treat tomorrow mornin' ^_^ Treat yaself! <3
The Bobcat is reversing on the valley trail this morning but no major snow overnight: 1cm in fact on the preliminary report! Great vis today, cold temps and calm winds should make for a beautiful day ^_^ After some warm temperatures and high winds though, we'll have to hunt for the goods! See ya up there.
The freezing level remains high today: although winds are much lessened than yesterday's gnarly gusts! The freezing level will lower tonight but "Overnight snowfall and strong wind will create very dangerous avalanche conditions at upper elevations" today. The danger is considerable below treelike also! Today the lift lines will be smaller though ;) I really hope you enjoyed Friday's Local Lounge with Cat Madden <3 Happy Monday!
Yeeeeeeew! There looks like more than 10cm up there team! However, with winds above 90kmh from the southeast last night, leeward slopes will be loaded and prone to triggering: shred safely! The freezing level shoots up on Sunday, so accumulations will be heavy and the Avi risk shoots up further along with it!
Very special Guest Cat Madden joins us in the Local Lounge this week: sharing her track 'Fishin' too <3 Thanks Cat!
Have a wicked weekend - I'll see ya up there!
After such a beautiful day yesterday, the winds have changed and the start of some unsettled systems and flurries is here! Huzzzah! As always, please keep your noggin' guessing on nominations you have for outstanding individuals that have gone above and beyond recently, who you would like to nominate for prizing for their good deeds: TWO Vallea Lumina tickets! <3 Happy Thursday!
Happy Sunshiney Hump Day!! Enjoy that vitamin D: knowing we have steady amounts of snow on the way, looking to amount to 30-40cm by Monday! Wahoo!
“A box without hinges, key, or lid, Yet golden treasure inside is hid.”
Moderate temperatures today and another dusting on the roads and hill but easing this morning. Tomorrow is due to be super sunny before some unsettled systems move in Thursday to bring us snow and hopefully, bigger accumulations on Saturday and Sunday!
Lotsa love in the Whistler air right now! <3 I hope you're feeling it! PLEASE think of anyone you'd like to nominate for the 'Be Vocal about a Local' campaign and prizing; spread the love with TWO Vallea Lumina Tickets! ^_^
I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day and heard from those that love you. Our community has been rocked this weekend with the news and losses of several avalanches on Friday and Saturday :'( Our snowpack has been very reactive and the loss of a super experienced and well loved member of the snowboarding community is a terrible tragedy. Thinking of all those who knew him. Take care of yourselves and each other xxx
That's right... It's superbly chilly today with an alpien inversion expected and a high pf -15! Current temperatures circa 7am are -22 at Pig Alley level (1600m) and above and it's -16 in the Valley with a high of -9 expected but it will feel like -17 with windchill this afternoon! We'll see a gradual warming over the weekend with scattered flurries come Sunday.
Today marks the start of the year of the Ox in the Chinese calendar! And Sunday is Valentines day. I hope you all get some love sent your way and if you are buying gifts, please support local businesses! <3
Listen in and answer to win a 4 pack of Coast Mountain Beer! ^_^ And please keep your ears peeled for stories of local heroes to nominate them for TWO Vallea Lumina tickets from TAG!
THANK YOU to Spuds and Mercle and The Blue Phoenix for their Local Lounge Valentines Editions! That story really put a smile on my face, and 'All I do is dream of you' would have Cupid blushing! Have a great weekend y'all! x
If you thought yesterday was nippy: guess again! Stay warm friends! ^_^ It's -23 at Pig Alley as of 7:07am! Sheeeeeeeeesh!
Keep those 'Be Vocal about a Local' nominations coming to reward good deeds with TWO tickets to Vallea Lumina from the Adventure Group <3
If you thought the last two days were cold, they were in fact tropical in comparison to today and tomorrow. The Arctic Outflow warning for today means we'll be feeling a wind chill of near -18 during the day and it will feel as cold as -26 overnight! We've had 1cm of new snow, likely a little more on the hill and it's currently overcast, with the clouds forecast to dissipate this afternoon and very clear skies and freezing temps tomorrow and also Friday!
We are still trying to reward local unsung heroes with tickets to Vallea Lumina for going above and beyond! The Adventure Group have kindly donated tickets for those YOU nominate that deserve recognition for their kind deeds. Send your stories via SM or email thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com ^_^
Dress warm! Although the winds are mild, the wind chill is currently -23 by the Horseman Hut! It will be even colder tomorrow and Thursday! We're due for a mix of sun and cloud today with flurries amounting to 4cm expected overnight.
Brrrrrr. If you think today is gonna be Baltic, just wait for Wednesday and Thursday!! Very clear skies will come with this arctic outflow but VERY cold temperatures and wind chill bring a very real danger of frost nip and frost bite: plan and dress accordingly ;)
I wish I could give you all a slice of the delicious banana bread i baked yesterday! In lieu of that, take my best wishes for staying safe and staying sane <3
Today's super awesome special guest is DJ Whitness! ^_^ Whitney shares her roots, inspirations, professional alter-ego, and what she's doing on 'Do what you want Wednesdays'! <3 Keep your ears peeled to win a tasty 4 pack from Coast Mountain Brewing: first to email me the answer wins! ;)
Have a wonderful weekend and make the most of the milder temps before the Arctic outflow drops on Sunday eve/Monday morning.
And Happy Superbowl Sunday from Stinky's on the Stroll - Go Sports!
Expect flurries today and warmer temps than yesterday with an alpine high of -4 forecast. We've got some Baltic temperatures predicted for early next week! Brrrrr.
Tomorrow's very special Guest in the Local Lounge is DJ Whitness! ^_^ Keep your 'Be vocal about a Local' nominations rolling in to reward someone with TWO Vallea Lumina Tickets from the Adventure Group <3 Happy Thursday!
Today is gonna be Bluebird and with plenty of powder still to hound, the hunt is on!
I hope you've had a helluva few days on the hills too! ^_^ The Avi advisory remains considerable/dangerous throughout the mountain after 107cm in 7 days: be conservative and dress warmer today with the calm but northerly winds. Ridge top gusts and some flurries expected tomorrow.
SEND IT! 22cm O_O If you shredded on Sunday - You know what that's gonna look like up top! See ya up there but play safe and with your buddies. It will be deep and so are the Tree Wells <3
What a deeeeeeep day yesterday was! So were the lines but with that mass exodus spotted yesterday, we're all hoping for much shorter lines today. Showcase, Peak and Symphony did not crack, so pack your snorkels but consider packing your Avi gear in bounds with those you're skiing with: the Avi danger is high and for good reason - it's deep and wind slabs in steeper terrain are prolific. Be conservative and ride insight of others.
More snow on the way today! Stay safe on the hill and off it ;)
The snow starts tonight, with 30-40cm expected over the next 3 days ^_^
The Blue Phoenix joins us again in the Local Lounge but with a story to put a smile on your dial instead!
The Adventure Group have super kindly donated more Vallea Lumina Tickets for our 'Be Vocal About a Local' initiative! <3 Do you know someone or would like to reward a stranger for their kind deeds? Tell us the story and they could win a pair of Vallea Lumina tickets to light up one of their cold Winter nights!
Have a wonderful weekend and stay safe xx
As our community battles a huge rise in Covid cases: I'm thinking of you all and the struggle we have to keep others and yourselves safe. Keep up the hard work... and if you werent aware: there's a knock off game of cards against humanity that is hilarious to play virtually via a group video call with your friends over some wine ;)
There's a trace amount of new snow, with cloudy conditions and flurries expected today and excitement still building over the weekend's expected dump! Stay safe, stay healthy and ski often ^_^
Another sprinkle of snow has graced the valley this morning with 5cm on the snow stake as of 6am!
I delivered - what I hope to be - the first round of prizing to Ski Patroller Emily at Whistler Olympic Park after she was nominated to win TWO Superfly Ziplines AND TWO Vallea Lumina Tickets in our 'Be Vocal About a Local' Campaign!! <3 It felt SO freaking good to pay if forward and I hope to keep it going! ^_^
I'm so sorry for missing the Intro and Outro today: this is my first remote recording and I clearly forgot a couple of essentials! Ha: lesson learnt! There has been some fresh snow in the past hour on the snow ruler that got missed on the earliest snow report today. Yesterday's '5cm' of snow was a lot more fun than expected: especially with the sun poking through. Today looks to be more of the same but colder! Dress warm :)
Happy Monday! Hopin' you had a terrific weekend! There's fresh snow yesterday and today but very light: I'm heading up shortly to see if it's dust on crust! Light accumulations expected intermittently throughout the week with cool temps remaining.
The snow on the Lakes is a breeze to skate through, which many were doing yesterday ^_^
Happy Friday! Sunny skies and cool temps continue today and tomorrow, with some overcast skies returning on Saturday but with minor flurries expected and no major accumulations in the 5 day forecast.
Today's super special guest in the Local Lounge is Tim Livingstone from Skiitour ^_^ He chats about how they've adapted and turned to the Platform Twitch; where it all began for Tim and Rollie; what he weirdly misses most; what's in store for them; and more! Keep your ears peeled for the answer to the question I asked in the episode and you could win a tasty 4 pack from Coast Mountain Brewing! The first to email thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com with the right answer, WINS!
Have a wonderful weekend y'all!
Sunny Skies are here for the next three days with cooler temperatures on the mountain but not as cold as originally predicted!
Lots covered in today's episode including the Brew Creek's 'Double Your Impact' donation incentive to the Food Bank; and with Covid cases again on the rise in Whistler, stay safe and healthy <3
Dress warm today and warmer for the rest of the week as that northerly ridge of high pressure pushes south! Brrrr. We'll have some cloud today but clearer skies tomorrow through to Sunday by the looks of things ^_^
Temperatures will begin cooling after yesterday's warm afternoon! Thursday and Friday will feel coolest and early predictions are forecasting more moderate accumulations on Sunday!
Keep your noggin' guessing on nominations for 'Be Vocal about a Local' - nominate someone to win TWO Superfly Ziplines and TWO Vallea Lumina Tickets from the Adventure Group - for their act of selflessness! <3
Happy Monday! I hope you had a glorious weekend! I tried my very best ;) and am looking forward to some more sunshiney laps today. Off-piste is still chalky and fun in places but look out for that deep-pan crust 300m below the Peak and down!
Lozen is today's super special Guest in the Local Lounge <3 Listen in to WIN: Be the first to answer the question to win a delicious 4 pack of Coast Mountain Beer!!
Have a great weekend! ^_^
After yesterday's Ice Rink conditions, (Go Canucks Go) we have warmer temperatures expected this afternoon and 10cm expected mid-mountain overnight! Tomorrow's special Guest in the Local Lounge will be the multi-talented Lozen, who is playing with the Get Down Brother's in tonight's Hear and Now Festival performance from Arts Whistler! ^_^ Catch it online at 7pm!
What do you call a dog that can do magic? A Labracadabrador.
After yesterday's deluge, expect a heavy snowpack, particularly under last night's lighter 17cm! Today we have a higher freezing level and are due for clearer skies this afternoon. The roads were slick last night and this mornin'. Take 'er easy aye mateys!
We're still looking for selfless nominations for our 'Be Vocal about a Local' Prizing from the Adventure Group! ^_^
With a Temp of 0 degrees at Pig Alley already, expect the snow to be heavier, lower than yesterday. Strong Alpine Gusts already happening and expected throughout the day, with temperatures lowering overnight and clearing tomorrow afternoon.
What has two butts and kills people? An assassin!
Mornin' Team! It's a little drizzly out there this morning but expect more rain in the valley tomorrow and an even higher freezing level! Stay safe, stay dry, drink water. Ha!
Have a local hero you want to give some recognition to? Nominate them to win some awesome prizing from the Adventure Group by emailing your story to: thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com
Stay safe out there friends and reach out to those you Love <3
Unfortunately Monty Biggins couldn't make it for a chat this week between both our schedules, so please look forward to next week's Local's Lounge. Sorry!
I forgot to mention the condition of the Singing Pass yesterday! The Log before Caution corner has been removed and although the top section was cruisey, below the Peak to Peak onwards was an icy gauntlet. Snow plow compulsary where you couldn't scrub off speed in narrow sections.
See you on Monday xx
Today you don't need to pop those Vitamin D capsules Folks - we'll have some sunshiney skies!! Peak looks primed to finally crack since it last opened on Friday but be aware of avalanche debris and wind affected snow in multiple directions!
Tomorrow's special Guest is Monty Biggins in the Local Lounge ^_^ And we'll share some Local unsung Hero stories. We're still open for nominations! thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com
You're looking at 28cm in the last 24 hours. Or rather, you will be if you head up today! There will be wayyyyyyy more on Whistler Peak, which looks favourite to crack today after last opening on Friday. Pack your snorkels but also ski safely and with your buddies. We've had over 2m of fresh in the past 7 days!
Keep your 'Be Vocal about a Local' nominations coming to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com - plus any other feedback, jokes or local news you may have! ^_^ more info on the contest on Facebook and Instagram
Zero new snow but with roughly 180cm in 7 days, there's plenty for everyone and over 20cm forecast our way this afternoon and tonight!
Stay safe on the hill and the roads. The Roads will be slick again. And despite a 'considerable' avalanche danger in the backcountry, make conservative terrain choices - in bounds too, where Tree Wells are very dangerous right now.
COMPETITION ALERT: (Kinda) Be Vocal about a Local: Nominate someone who has gone above and beyond and give them recognition for their kind Act with TWO amazing prices from the Adventure Group!! TWO Superfly Tickets AND TWO Vallea Lumina Tickets to someone nominated by YOU! Send your stories to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com
More snow today to add to this week's total of 150+ : 6cm (it looks like more) with another 15cm expected throughout the day. Stay safe out their Team. Ride with buddies, especially in trees and choose conservative terrain!
See ya up there though!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
2021 is kicking off with a low pressure system dumping upwards of 50cm of snow over the next 48 hours, with high alpine winds expected throughout the next few days and a freezing level hovering at 1600m or just below, until dropping to the valley on Sunday morning!
Today's super special guest in the Local Lounge is Travis Smith, the very talented Drummer from Whistler Rock Band The Combat Dolphins <3
Wishing you all a wonderful Weekend! See you on Monday! ^_^
Today's run-down is a little longer than usual - whoops!
Here's wishing you all a merry but socially distanced NYE! I plan on popping a bottle of great Chanmpagne to celebrate 2020's triumphs, challenges and closures and to herald in the longer days and new opportunities 2021 will bring. Stay safe. I'll see ya in the New Year with a broadcast that will be a little later than 7:15 ;)
POW Day!!! Be extra careful and take your time on those roads today!
I hope you caught a glimpse of last night's full moon through the cloud bank. Overcast skies and more snow today, easing this afternoon/evening. See ya up there! Yeeeeeeow
There's snow on the way this evening and a storm advisory in effect for the Sea to Sky: for tomorrow with rapid accumulations of moisture laden snow anticipated in the valley and on the roads!
Here's wishing the one and only Lainey Mullins a very happy Birthday! Hip hip hooray <3
Oh, and tonight is a full moon: the Cold Moon!
Now... I'm heading back to bed after 4 days gettin' after it ;)
Here's hoping you had a phenomenal weekend and get after it today! ^_^
Sunshine today, with another 6cm overnight and some more snow in the forecast. Happy Monday!
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!! <3 Enjoy the dusting today and tomorrow. I hope you're able to connect with those you love in any way you can! I'll raise a glass of the good stuff to ya! ;)
Many, many thanks to today's Local Lounge special guest // The Blue Phoenix! ^_^ I'm so thankful for my partner, family and friends; good health; and for YOU! Thank you for supporting this project and thank you to Stinky's on the Stroll, Lindsey Ataya Creative and James Hallohan! Here's to great things in 2021!
See you on the slopes, or back here on Monday morning!
Merry Chrimbo Eve!!
It's gonna be a sunshiney day with today's inversion. Enjoy the warm but breezy alpine air and expect a decrease in the snow quality with the warm alpine temperatures.
Who’s Rudolph’s favourite pop star? Beyon-sleigh!
Does it feel like Christmas yet to you?? I still have to get some groceries but they can wait until after skiing ;)
Enjoy the sunshine today and the inversion!
Ho Ho Ho! Bluebird and Pow? Get those long johns on! I'll see you up there :)
Who hides in the bakery at Christmas? A mince spy.
Ohiyo Gosaimasu! ^_^ How 'bout that lower freezing level and more snow today?? I hope your legs aren't tired from the weekend and that you used those lift lines to check your emails or write some texts you've been meaning to send ;)
See you up there!
It's the weekend! Happy Friday Folks!
Lots of Local info in today's Podcast alongside the SECOND edition of the Local Lounge! This Week's special Guest is Kostaman! l Lots of snow in the forecast but also VERY strong Alpine winds and a High Avalanche Danger through the weekend. Play safe. I'll be back on Monday but holla to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com with any requests, recorded jokes, shout outs or feedback ^_^ You can find and follow The Whistler Pulse on Spotify, ITunes, Facebook and Instagram! <3
Have a wicked weekend!
10cm recorded on the 5am snow report with variable visibility. We have more snow on the way , particularly tomorrow afternoon and Saturday night. The Avi risk is considerable in Alpine and Treeline with lots to consider in steep terrain. Have fun getting after it: there'll be some deeper stashes for sure but be careful of that lingering rain crust from Monday/Tuesday. Tune in tomorrow for the Whistler Pulse Local Lounge with Kostaman! <3
Gooooood Morning. How's your hump day treatin' ya? I see a nap in my future, ha!
On Mt: High winds from the SE yesterday will mean a lot of loading on north aspects, so make conservative terrain choices, with reactive storm slabs on high angle slopes being a very real hazard. There was a hazardous rain crust in areas yesterday.
Valley: a high of 2 degrees expected with flurries starting this afternoon and bringing us 5cm of snow overnight.
Top a' the Tuesday Mornin' to ya!
6cm recorded at 5am and -4 at Pig Alley. High Alpine winds (70km/h)and a freezing level of 1100m expected, along with around 10cm still forecast to fall.
Sorry for the bad joke! Haha.
Top of the Mornin'! How was your weekend? ^_^
Monday's report is out and ahead of schedule. You may be wondering if those centimetres in the valley translated into more in the Alpine... Just 2cm recorded in the preliminary report this morning but we have more flurries this week, with a break on Thursday and larger accumulations expected on Friday through the weekend at this point.
If you have a photo report or maybe a recorded joke to share, send them my way to thewhistlerpulse@gmail.com or share on SM using #TheWhistlerPulse
Happy Monday!
Your Friday edition of the Whistler Pulse: introducing the Local Lounge!
Every Friday will feature local Musicians: profiling them and showcasing their music. Today's very special Guests are George Skoupas and Jay Romany, aka Brother Twang!
We have some Dust on Crust today, with a few more flurries expected this morning. It will clear in the afternoon, bringing us sunny skies and no precipitation tomorrow but a low pressure ridge returns on Sunday, bringing more consistent accumulations mid-week and a freezing level below 1000m throughout.
Apologies for the later upload today: technical difficulties :(
