My name is Ryan Gadsby and I am a child abuse survivor. I openly share my experiences and thoughts around the topic of child sexual abuse to open conversations and make abuse a more open topic. The edge of the bed podcast is all about uncomfortable, but necessary conversations around mental health, child abuse, trauma and general life!
In Today's podcast, we heard Arjunas's story of child sexual abuse. Arjuna was sexually abused by a friend of his mother then r***d at a later age by an older friend.
We discussed Arjunas's struggle with accepting his sexuality after abuse and the methods he has used to heal from his trauma such as yoga and meditation. You can keep up to date with future episodes on my Instagram @theedgeofthebed

In this episode I disscuss the Prison abolition movement In the context of child sexual abuse. I chose to bring in my friend Joseph Conway, who is a politics and anthropology grad from the university of Manchester who specialised in prisons and the arts, as he is a supporter of the movement and is educated on this topic. We also covered the poll I put out on instagram which posed the question : what is most important when dealing with sex offenders in the justice system? The four answers were: Rehabilitation, Protecting the public, Punishment , Deterrence. I really enjoyed my discussion with Joseph, he's the first guest I've had on the podcast who I know in real life! He was also around and in the same church as my abuser and me around the time the abuse was happening, which we also touched on.
