You Need To Release Your Creativity Today
Why?
Because if you don’t, your creativity will be lost forever. The world will lose out on your contribution and YOU will miss out on progress toward self-actualization.
In this episode, part of a series by Claudine on Creativity, she introduces Abraham Maslow - the father of humanistic psychology and the creator the hierarchy of needs - of the concept of self-actualization. "We're going to look for the kind people," said author, podcast host, inspirational speaker and coach Kate Brenton to her five-year-old son recently. On arriving at the airport, Kate realized that their flight home had been closed even though she had checked-in hours before.
Her riveting story is more than a recounting of an annoying airline experience, it's about the human spirit, fellow human beings helping one another, the lessons we teach our kids, and how "looking for the helpful people, the kind people, is as good a piece of advice today as it was when Fred Rogers first proclaimed it on his famous show.
Speaking of looking for the kind people, Kate is one of them. Kate has a new master class that starts March 23rd titled, Sit in Your Center. It is a practical and magical journey of alignment and empowerment for women. More about this class can be found at Kate's Website

Join me and voice actor Marissa Lanchak, my voice acting coach from Voice Coaches, chat about how I landed in a voice acting class and how I ended up narrating the audiobook version of my book, It Gets Easier! and Other Lies We Tell New Mothers... The interview is an excerpt from Voice Coaches Radio Podcast, which Marissa, a very talented voice actor, hosts for Voice Coaches.
I took Voice Coaches Introductory Voice Over Workshop online through my local township. The workshop was $30 and included information about the career of voice acting and the Voice Coaches Class plus an evaluation of my voice to ascertain if voice acting was a possibility for me. I then took the full course, recorded my demo, and landed the job of narration of my book with Harper Collins.
Marissa and I chat about marketing - marketing yourself. She shares her story of how she networked - actual person to person networking - over years to land enough jobs to develop her voice acting career. These marketing tips can be applied to ANY career or business goal. Plus, Marissa is simply fun to listen to - she has a great voice - yes, I am jealous.

Its Time... For You to Sit & Write Your Book
In this episode of Stories and Strategies for Women we present an opportunity for authors and aspiring authors. Kate Brenton, author and inspired teacher has created the Sit & Write Master Class that starts October 1 (intake interviews in Sept). Claudine and Kate explain the Master Class: who it is designed for, how it works, and why combining their unique skills will make the difference between aspiring writer and published writer.
If you have no interest in a class at this time, keep listening. Kate and Claudine tell their publishing stories and how working together made a huge difference in successful publishing!
What is the Sit & Write Master Class?
It is a class "container" that runs from Oct to Jan. With commitment to the program, the aspiring writer could come away with a first draft of a book plus the marketing knowledge to give it the best chance to be seen & sold.
How does it work?
Community calls, video lessons, and one-on-one calls combined with the unique insight of Kate (spiritual) and Claudine (analytical) will provide both pieces of what is needed for your book to get written and seen. Kate provides the "tapping into the creative" side and Claudine provides the book marketing / publishing industry side to give aspiring authors what they need at the right time to achieve their publication goals.
How to get started?
Your process starts with an intake call with Kate Brenton to make sure of the right fit. The call is free. Once the connection is made, the Sit & Write Master Class begins Oct 1. The information to start with the intake call and pricing can be found on Kate's Site. You can also contact Kate directly with any questions at Kate@katebrenton.com.
Why Kate & Claudine?
Both are published authors/teachers/mentors and they have been there and done it successfully. They both passionately desire to help aspiring authors get their message/story out in the world and to give their book the best possible chance to be seen and sold.
Note from Claudine: I am so excited for this class, listeners! By joining Kate, my long-time goal of helping authors get their message out and their books seen & sold is fulfilled. For four years now I have interviewed experts who have wished to publish a book or they publish quickly (and not so successfully) simply because they didn't know the book marketing side of being a published author. We change that state of affairs with this class!
Sign up to Sit and Write Master Class before 9/15/22 and use the promo code YES for an early bird discount!

“Lizzie Borden took an axe and gave her mother 40 whacks when she saw what she had done, she gave her father 41”
It’s a rhyme that’s been around a long time. Did Lizzie Borden commit the murder of her father and her step-mother? Author Cara Robertson is not the first writer to broach the subject. Her take on the material is unique, though, Cara methodically and clearly follows the trial of Lizzie Borden day by day and reports the events by also using the words of reporters at the time, a clever and effective spin. Cara also studied law and her grasp of the law adds an extra perspective to the trial proceedings.
True crime buffs will love this careful, methodical, expertly-written report with historical background and photos added to round out the story of this mystery.
You can find Cara Robertson at her website: CaraRobertson.com

This interview with the podcast host of the award-winning The Creative Penn podcast, Joanna Penn, proves the old adage that “you never know until you ask.” I am a big fan of Joanna’s podcast, website, and books. On a whim, I pitched an interview to her and she graciously and generously agreed to it. I am still on a high from this interview and the fabulous information Joanna shared.
Joanna is a successful writer and entrepreneur. She covers every aspect of self-publishing from writing, to publishing, to distributing, and to marketing a book in her over 30 books and her podcasts as host of The Creative Penn Podcast . She has grown a successful business as an author of both fiction and non-fiction books as an indy author. How did she do it and what tips can she share with the aspiring writer?
Have a listen… Always positive and a self-proclaimed “cheerleader” for authors she believes that an already published book can find more success than a newly launched book with the right marketing techniques and new publishing outlets. She offers insights into the indie publishing field and how she feels it is transformative for new authors in getting their work out into the world. She answers all of my questions - some pretty basic - ie. can you place your book with two different online retailers as the same time? - Sorry, Joanna. But, hey, this is how my mind works. Listen and learn.
Any business owner will discover tips from Joanna's expereince. Her positivity and enthusiasm is contagous. She shares the story of her pivotstory, we love pivots stories at Stories and Strategies for Women from a traditional career to scaling a true love business. In addition to books on publishing and marketing and fiction fantasy books, Joanna's 1st book helps to make a career change titled Career Change: Stop hating your job, discover what you really want to do with your life, and start doing it! | The Creative Penn.

Meet Catherine Read...She holds a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from UCLA and is a Visiting Scientist at Rutgers University and an Associate at Ithaca College. She is also a mom of two daughters who decided to home school her girls using the Waldorf Method.
She tells her story and shares her book on the subject "The Genius of Home." She also shares that you don't have to have a PhD to homeschool. Both of Catherine's girls are now grown, have degrees, and professionals in their fields.
If your family is considering homeschooling, take a listen to this interview. Hopefully I asked the right questions, the questions you would ask. I also ask Catherine about her publishing process. Her publisher, Steiner Books, sought her out to write this book. Steiner is a traditional publisher and is very often the case these days, Catherine was expected to market her book. She is learning the book marketing process as she goes and is in the process of financing an audio book version of "The Genius of Home."
The book, "The Genius of Home" is a resource but it also a story - the story of one family's decision to homeschool and how it worked out for them.

Welcome Your Inner Wisdom
Patricia Walsh Collins, founder and director of Earth School in Point Pleasant, PA, teaches children to welcome their inner wisdom and connect to the earth and to live from the heart. When she explained her Earth School classes for children aged 7 to 12, the teacher program she offers and the new teen program she created, I was enthralled and declared, "Hey I want to go to a class like that!"
What is Intuition and Why Do I Want It?
In this Stories and Strategies for Women Podcast episode, Patricia shares her knowledge of intuition - what is intuition, where does it lie within us, where can it be found, and how we can heighten our awareness of it. There is also a WHY component to energy work and that is, WHY should we seek out and practice our connection to intuition?
Patricia says that intuition is your sixth sense, your instincts. Why is it important to connect with intuition? What can it do for us? Patricia shares that there are many possible benefits to connecting with your intuition. If we tap into our intuition she instructs, we are more aligned with our own personal truth, we re-establish a spiritual connection with ourselves and the Earth, and we acknowledge our inner wisdom. Those all are great results, but can those benefits translate to something concrete in the lives of women?
The Benefits of Intuition
Yes! In Patricia's experience, connecting with your intuition can lead to increased confidence, a decrease in stress, and an increase in new ideas and creativity. The connection can help you feel motivated to make a change in your life, try something new, or simply feel better about where you are. Re-connecting with your intuition - heightening your awareness of it and discovering where it can be found takes practice. As Patricia has taught children to connect at her Earth School, she has agreed to teach women in a one-time workshop how to connect with their intuition. The workshop is coming up locally on March 20, 2022, and the details are below.
The Leading from the Heart Workshop will be held in Buckingham, PA on Sunday, March 20th (The Equinox - think: spring & renewal!) from 2:00 pm to 4:00 at the Buckingham Meeting House. 5684 York Road (routes 202 and 263) Lahaska, Pennsylvania. Details and registration can be found on her website EarthSchoolForKids.com. Select the "Workshops" tab and then select "Leading from the Heart Workshop" then select: "Click here to Register."
You can also contact Patricia by shooting her an email at **Patricia at ArtofSpiritWorld.com

Hurricane Ida, September 2, 2021, NJ (Part Two)
Part Two of our interview with Greg and Andrea Ferguson
Hurricane Ida hit the NJ & PA area north of Philadelphia, by the Delaware river with ruthless force. Enormous amounts of rain fell in a small amount of time on September 2, 2021. It spelled tragedy for far too many families. At least 23 were killed, most swept away while in their car. Depending on where you live in the world you may not have heard about the storm but the effects on the lives in a few small towns in Hunterdon County, NJ, were devastating and tragic. Greg Ferguson's car submerged as he drove home during the hurricane. His story is incredible, harrowing and inspiring.
Greg and Andrea Ferguson's Harrowing Story: He Said, She Said
Join us for this two-part interview where Greg and his wife Andrea, who was home with their two small children and aware of Greg's precarious situation hour by hour but powerless to help, share their amazing story. If you have ever wondered how you would react in an emergency, this interview will get you thinking. We cover the miraculous events that happened to keep Greg alive, the local emergency workers that were on the job that night, the personal dialogue that went through Greg's head and how your life can change in an instant. Finally, how life changes after such a brush with death and a few lessons on how to listen your inner voice and follow your instincts.

Why Does Purging Stuff Feel So Good
There is something about the word "purge." It is pretty powerful and descriptive, don't you think? I have been purging since before the new year. I can not seem to stop getting rid of stuff. It feels so good. I got to thinking, "Why does purging your stuff feel so good?"
In this podcast episode, I share my research on why purging may feel so great.
I introduce a book, Does This Clutter Make My Butt Look Fat by Mr Peter Walsh. Published in 2009, the book posits that Clutter can actual make you gain weight. Mr Walsh may be on to something.
I also found a great article in Psychology Today titled, "The Powerful Psychology Behind Cleanliness" by Ralph Ryback MD. Dr Ryback explains that yes, clutter can affect your brain and the clearing of clutter can indeed make you happier...I knew it...listen to find out how it works.
Finally, I ask organization expert and author, Laurie Palau, author of Hot Mess: A Practical Guide to Getting Organized to explain why we desire to purge and how to get started.
Laurie shares the 3 steps to get you started:
You can find Laurie at her website SimplyBOrganized.
I also mention Deb Lillard's book on organizing "Absolutely Organized"
Why do you like to purge your stuff? Any good tips?
Another treat: In Dr Ryback's Psychology Today article he mentions a website with a bad name but it is so creative and helpful I feel I must mention it here in the show notes. It's called UnF***YourHabitat. Too good not to share!

You have one minute to decide
Ten years ago, Alexis Ridge-Simek got a call that changed her life forever. A newborn baby named Aria needed a home and was being released from Temple Hospital at that moment. Would Alexia take her in as a foster child? She had one minute to decide.
Community support, Friends, Family
As you will hear in her story, Alexis emphasizes how important community support was for her and her family as they welcomed Aria and took on her love and care. Alexis and her family did not stop there, though, in their support of the foster care program. Aria had been brought to Alexis wrapped in a blanket with an over-sized onesie. Alexis had the support of family, friends, and church to fill the immediate needs for Aria but many children who enter the foster community have nothing to bring with them to a foster home.
The Fiaria Project: Kits for Kids in a New Foster Care Home
You will hear about Alexis' adoption process, the foster care process, and how the Fiaria Project is making a difference for kids 0-18 who are helped with a kit of brand new items to take with them at this stressful moment in their lives. Some of the "kit" items might include:
The Fiaria Project, in its 6th year in 2022 has begun a Capital Project for expansion. For those who wish to donate or volunteer at the Fiaria project, you can find all the information at their website, Fiaria.org. Alexis has invited the audience to ask any questions about the Fiaria project or the foster care process. Her email is on the Fiaria Project website.
Do You Want To Get Involved With Foster Care?
Alexis mentions the Children's Choice organization where you can find more information about Foster Care and Respite Care in the Philadelphia area. (Volunteers who support Foster Parents by offering baby- sitting support as needed)
Alexis also mentions her yoga studio: Dragon Fly Yoga

What is a Wife Worth?
It is an age-old question - “What Is a Wife Worth?” Put another way, is a stay at home mom entitled to half the family’s worth when the marriage dissolves? We take up that question in this episode of Stories and Strategies for Women with Author Ann Crittenden and her highly researched, best-selling book, The Price of Motherhood. The Price of Motherhoodpublished in 2001 and was hailed as a “landmark book” by the San Francisco Chronicle. Ms Crittenden, former NY Times reporter and a Pulitzer Prize nominee, tackles the subjects of “equitable” and "equal” when it comes to divorce settlements but the book is so much more. Through researched stories the book chronicles the truth about the price of motherhood. Specifically, the financial risk a women takes who decides to sacrifice a career to be a full-time mom as well as how she is treated by society in her new role.
Did COVID Change Some Minds on the Work That is Stay at Home Parenting?
With Covid over the last two years, BOTH parents were working AND taking care of their children together, many times at home. For the first time in our history in the United States, maybe, both parents were stay at home parents and saw first-hand how difficult it is to raise kids. Instead of assuming that a stay at home mom’s job is easy and she is "lucky" to do it, the reality of the challenge and sacrifice of stay at home parenting is clear. In the case of a divorce, therefore, the VALUE of the contribution of the stay at home parent MUST be more equal to the earning parent than it has been in the past.
Please enjoy this thought-provoking interview on this fascinating and important subject. I also add some personal thoughts where I try to eradicate the word “lucky” when describing stay at home parenting. I include a personal story with an excerpt from my book, It Gets Easier and Other Lies We Tell New Moms.
I would love to hear what YOU think and hear YOUR story. Did you leave a career to stay at home? How was your transition? Did you feel respected as an equal with your partner? Did you feel respected in society? Please leave a comment at my blog post Claudinewolk.com, my Instagram post on the episode, or my Facebook page.

The Netflix Documentary titled, "What Would Sophia Loren Do?" really had an effect on me. I loved it and thought about it for weeks after I watched it. In this quick podcast episode, I summarize the documentary (without spoilers) and share some of what I love about it and what made me think about life, love, hard work, and a woman's life.
Executive Producer, Regina Scully interviews her Mom, Nancy (Vincenza Careri) Kulik, who is a life-long fan of Sophia Loren, so much so that she (Nancy) invokes Loren's name again and again when a question or puzzle arises. "What would Sophia Loren do?" She would ask herself.
Nancy was born in the States of Italian immigrant parents who frequented Italian movies that featured Sophia Loren. In the documentary, the producer and director, Ross Kauffman skillfully interweaves the stories of the two women's lives with pictures, movie footage and interviews. As I say in the podcast, "it is hard work to make something look so easy." The documentary is clever and charming but does not shy away from some the most serious subjects in life - love and loss and tragedy.
It is only 20 minutes long but it stayed with me. I would love to hear your thoughts on it and what YOU take away. Please hop over to my blog at claudinewolk.com to comment or catch my facebook or instagram post to comment.
I mention my book for new moms, It Gets Easier and Other Lies We Tell New Mothers in the podcast.

Who doesn't love The Sound of Music movie? Lead star Christopher Plummer who plays Captain Von Trapp for one! Christopher Plummer was interviewed and said the movie was "too saccharine" for his taste. In later years, I understand Plummer came to appreciate the movie and its place in his career.
Years ago my family bought me the anniversary edition of The Sound of Music with special features including actor interviews and footage from behind the scenes as the movie was made. I share many trivia fun facts so you can potentially wow your guests this holiday season with fun trivia knowledge on The Sound of Music. For example, did you know:
The real Maria Von Trapp makes an appearance in the movie?
Christopher Plummer was originally not a fan of the movie? (It grew on him)
Oscar Hammerstein, the lyricist of the award winning duo, Rodgers and Hammerstein, was inspired to write The Sound of Music & Oklahoma while looking out the kitchen window of his farm in Bucks County, Pennsylvania located around the corner from my house.
Julie Andrews hits the top of her head 9 times in the movie - a signature move
** Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer have admitted in interviews that they shared a crush - it shows!
I also add a year end note of thanks to Stories and Strategies Podcast listeners as well as a preview for next years first podcast episode, Stefanie Gass of the Stefanie Gass podcast who shares 4 questions to help you decide whether you should start podcast. As I listened to Stefanie, it occurred to me that the questions are applicable to any business change decision that might be before you...I would love to know what you think. Jenny Judson and Danielle Mahfood accomplished every girlfriends' childhood dream. They wrote a book together and published it! Their first book, The Last Season, is newly released and the perfect holiday escape book. It is a historical fiction, romance novel set in the Victorian Age that follows the relationships of two childhood acquaintances, Crispin and Cassie. Both Cassie and Crispin are very bright and fiercely loyal to their families. A series of events pulls them apart and then back together in the most unexpected way.The Last Season is charming, interesting, and romantic in the most delicious way. It is a rare book where both main character's individuality is maintained but Judson and Mahfood pull it off.
In this podcast episode, Jenny and Danielle answer my questions about the creation of The Last Castle. I had to know how two people can write a book together. We discuss the themes in the book and their philosophy on writing the "sexy parts." We also talk about the plans for their next novel which may feature one of my favorite characters from The Last Season.

Our guest in this episode of Stories and Strategies for Women Podcast is Lea Geller. Lea is an author of the new book, The Truth And Other Hidden Things and can be found at her website LeaGeller.com. Join us for some “Mom talk’ with a hilarious author and a thought provoking, upbeat book.
In this podcast episode we cover the humor and sometimes painful honesty that comes with becoming a Mom in today’s world. We use Lea’s character, Bells, to discuss some of the tough aspects of motherhood. In the story Bells is a stay at home mom of two kids, one in high school, And one in middle school when she finds out that her iud has failed and she is pregnant. Who even knew that an Iud could fail? Lea did!
Bells finds herself moving her family to a small college town in hopes that her professor husband will make tenure. She is an at home who desires to be a successful writer amidst her increasing responsibilities as well as the responsibilities thrust upon her by a community of what the authors terms “extra moms.” You guessed it. We are talking about the Moms who do extra.
Lea and I dig into the truisms of motherhood including:
mom judgement - we see it, we feel it, do we give it too?
the expectation of everyone in a Mom’s orbit - children, spouses, mothers, mothers in law, friends, neighbors, etc.
the horrific college search experience and why the Mom’s need for counseling during that brutal experience is not far from the truth
the hidden reasons Moms torture themselves to outdo each other
*** women’s writing and Lea’s publishing story - an inspiration.
PS. Lea Geller’s first book, The Trophy Lifeis next on my list.

Miscarriage and Stillbirth
Miscarriage and Stillbirth is not a subject that women talk about very much. Yet it is an experience that is very clearly part of a woman's experience. You Want To Get back In the Work Force
So did our guest, Erin Allen Gibson. She was a lawyer, raised her family, and then 10 years later she decided she wanted to return and be a lawyer again. Whether you are a lawyer, doctor, teacher, or any other profession, when you 'take a break' from the workforce for any reason, the path back to the working world can be daunting. What's more, as Erin found, the "path" back may be non-existent. Sometime when you have no path, you have to make your own!
Create Your Own Way Back to the Job That You Want
In one of my favorite movies, Murphy's Romance, the main character, Murphy, runs into his love interest, Emma, at city hall. He is paying a fine for parking his vintage car in front of his store. Emma chides Murphy, "Don't you know you can't beat city hall?" Murphy replies, "Then wrestle 'em!"
The path back to work after a break is not an easy one and sometimes you have to take Erin and Murphy's advice and "wrestle 'em" or more appropriately "create your own way to the job you want."
Paying It Forward to Help Women ad Men Find the Job They Love
Erin Allen's story and tips are encouraging, positive, and innovative. Erin is now a partner in her Pittsburgh law firm, a position she earned by creating her own way. She shares that way in this podcast episode. This episode is Erin's "paying it forward" to anyone - woman or man - who wants to return to the workforce for any reason - raising a family, taking care of a loved one, a spousal move, a health issue - for ANY reason!
You will learn:
Skills - based volunteering and how it can help you get back to a paying career
What to say in a interview to the hated question: "Why is there a break in your employment?" Hint: It takes just 8 words!
What your first day back could look like?
What to wear on your interview and the first day back?
Why every decision is NOT a financial decision?
How long it might take to find the Career you want.
Join us for this amazing podcast episode on Stories and Strategies for Women. Feel free to share it with anyone you know who might be looking to get back in the workforce! Erin Allen's message is positive and encouraging!

Welcome to Season Two of Stories and Strategies for Women Podcast! After a month off we are raring to go with amazing stories from fabulous women. More to learn and more to do!
What married woman hasn't thought of killing her husband? So begins Geraldine Donaher's brand new book, Still. The book starts with a bang and never lets go. Donaher's coming of age, first novel covers her leaving the convent, her fierce independence, and the heartbreaking loss of her first born son through the main character, Nikki. The stage is set in Philadelphia and the New Jersey shore which lends a nostalgic backdrop for those from the tri-county area but all readers can appreciate the yearnings and struggle of Nikki. This is one of those books that hooked me from the first sentence. No dinner was made and no laundry was cleaned for a few days.
Gerri and I speak about the book but also about Gerri's publishing process. Anyone who has dreamed of writing a book will enjoy Gerri's determination to share her story with the world.
Stillby Geraldine Donaher is available on Amazon as an ebook.
Gerri mentions a wonderful organization that counsels women who have lost a baby, Unite Inc. You can learn more about this amazing organization at the link.

Colonoscopy is the test every woman hates.
Women understand that it is a fantastic tool to detect colon cancer at an early stage but the whole screening process from prep to procedure is not fun, to say the least. Dr Richard Arrigo breaks down the entire process for us and allows me to whine about what women hate the most about the screening. Plus he answers questions not often asked. For example:
I go there - Can Anal Sex cause Colon Cancer?
Do I have to drink all the prep once my poop is yellow?
If the screening Doctor finds something, does he address it then and there or do I have to return?
Can I do prep and procedure in one day?
Will the anesthesia make me give up my secrets?
Do I have a choice in anesthesia?
And much, much more
Dr. Arrigo is a Board- certified Gastroenterologist at Gastroenterology Associates with Hunterdon County Medical Center. He has seen it all and answers questions with a matter-of-factness that is refreshing and comforting. Remember, knowledge is power!
Do not miss his tip to have confidence in your results.
Remember a screening should be covered by insurance. Dr. Arrigo reviews the ages that recommended for screening. He also talks about potential causes of colorectal cancer and what you might do to prevent it.

Kate Brenton, inspired teacher, author, and podcast host of Rebirth is our guest.
I listened to one of Kate's podcast episodes titled "Gifts Unwanted" - Season 4, episode 49 and it hit me like a ton a bricks. "Gifts Unwanted" ... what a powerful phrase. What does it mean to you? Kate breaks it down with me as we explore the decisions that women make when faced with the possibility to do something or try something different.
We talk about "pivoting" a lot on Stories and Strategies for Women podcast. What about when an outside source insists that we do something else with our talents or otherwise and we are simply NOT ready to do it - for any reason. How do we decipher between a good choice and a bad choice, what may be right for us and what may be nonsense, our goals and values and most of all, the intentions of the "gift-giver?" These can be life-long, relationship ending decisions!
Kate shares the intricacies of all of the above in this deep dive, all based on a simple story she shared in her podcast episode, when she took a walk on the towpath. What resonates with you? Please let us know in the comments of the blogpost at ClaudineWolk.com.

Elizabeth had this to say about her book recommendations:
"I love so many books, that is a tough one, but recently I find memoirs and essays to be helpful reminders that life is full of hardships, but the key is to laugh, accept, and keep moving. Anything by David Sedaris (Naked is a good collection of his essays), David Foster Wallace (A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again is great), Augusten Burroughs Running with Scissors, Meghan Daum's Unspeakable, Bill Bryson's A Walk in the Woods are all favorites of mine. By the way, if you have ever been on a cruise or plan to go, the David Foster Wallace book is a must read."

Julie Metz is a NY Times best selling author, an art director and a graphics designer. Her second book, Eva and Eve, is her latest newly released book.
Eva and Eve reads a bit like historical fiction but what is described actually happened to Julie's Mom's family in Nazi-occupied Vienna. Julie's Mom shared some of what happened in her young life - she was 12 when she left Vienna for America with her parents - but not everything that happened. After Julie's mom's death, Julie found a book that she had never seen before. So started Julie's journey to uncover the rest of her mothers story.
To tell a great story, you need a great story-teller. Metz is the perfect person to tell this story, not only because it is her ancestor's story but also because she is simply a fantastic writer. (Her first book, Perfection, is one of my favorites!) Prepared to be swept away in this interview to another time and place. Come along for the ride as Julie searches for the truth.
Julie has a special offer for fans…bookplates! Message her on her instagram account: juliemetzwriter - and ask for a bookplate.
What is a bookplate? It is a sticker with Julie’s autograph that you can place in your book to create your own signed copy of her book! Bookplates used to be super popular…I love them..and are making a comeback!

Mandee Hammerstein is a launching expert and a publicist. I asked Mandee, "How can a woman gather the confidence to move forward in her life?" Mandee shares her very personal story and words of wisdom. And, oh yes, she is related to that Hammerstein!
Among Mandee's advice gained from experience:
Allow yourself to dream
You want people rooting for you and helping you
Surround yourself with people who are a little bit better than you, but not too much
You can't only be a taker, you must give too!
**How to work on your confidence
You can reach Mandee at her website: mkhammerstein.com
Mandee mentions many books that she found pivotal in her confidence-building:
Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
Helped Mandee change and improve her relationship with money from the author's overall philosophy. This book gave Mandee the insight and confidence to reach for what she always wanted to do with investing but was always intimidated until she read this book, leading her to many others and helped her really start the professional conversations needed to take action
Long Distance Real Estate Investing by David Greene
Taught Mandee that she could realistically invest in growing, less expensive markets, versus waiting years to save up to buy real estate investments in her expensive backyard
BiggerPockets.com (not a book :-)
Is a website tool that led Mandee to forums, live webinars, more reading, research, case studies and meetUps that further helped Mandee learn the fundamentals of getting your feet wet with Real Estate

Do you have a narcissist in your life?
It seems "Narci, Narci, Narci" like "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia" is a common refrain these days.
But what exactly IS a narcissist. We asked the experts and sat down with Ryan Lynch and Amanda Johns, licensed Psychologists, Social Workers, and Podcast hosts of "Worth the Work" to find out.
Ryan and Amanda share their special blend of skill and delivery to answer our questions on everything narcissist. We learn what a narcissist is, how to identify one, how to cope with one, and the definitions for all those well-used narci-words: love-bombing, gaslighting, and flying monkeys.
We deal with the subject in a light-hearted, fun way but living with a narcissist is a serious matter. If you feel you are in an abusive relationship with a narcissist, please seek professional help. There are many confidential resources available to you. Don't wait to speak to someone and get some help.

This episode is packed. Dr Irena Kay, executive coach and certified law of attraction coach, shares her personal story - how she and her husband turned their marriage around and into a the best relationship you can imagine, "a passionate love affair." Dr Kay has studied the brain (epigenetics) and how men and women's brains are actual different, we process differently, we interpret words and actions differently. Sometimes these differences can lead to difficulties in relationships that can last decades.
She describes a common complaint among women: "He doesn't understand me," and exclaims, "you are right, he doesn't understand you, he can't." Because of his brain and how he is wired.
Another common complaint: "Why can't you just get over it." Dr Irena Kay says, "We can't just get over it because of our brains, how we are wired."
