Alicia Oloroso Hempfling, President and Executive Director of New Rhythm Arts Center, grew up in the Garfield Park and Albany Park neighborhoods of Chicago. In the advertising industry, she worked as a financial specialist and production manager. She holds a BA, Magna Cum Laude, in Human Development from North Park University and volunteered in various capacities, including child and adult reading tutoring and as a music performer. While raising two teen boys, Alicia became Manager of Public Programs at Kohl Children’s Museum. She was the Administrator and Programs Director for Boocoo Cultural Center in Evanston, while on the Advisory Board of the Juvenile Crime Enforcement Coalition at the Evanston Police Department.
Currently, the operations of running the New Rhythm Arts Center has been keeping her busy. The organization incorporated as a nonprofit in 2014.
