Isai Rodriguez

Join Isai Rodriguez for his weekly "Dad-Splanation Podcast" where he caters to the Professional Working Man, 40 and above, who’s looking to make positive changes to his health, lose weight, and become stronger overall through simple lifestyle changes.

Isai is here to share inspiration, tips and proven lessons that he's learned and lived through in his 40+ years of life on this beautiful blue planet.

Every week he'll take you through two different segments of a show aimed at entertaining and educating (and hopefully inspiring).

The first segment--Healthy Conversations--is where he grabs a more general health topic that's currently buzzing in the industry and discusses how it applies to the 40+ crowd of men eager and determined to live a better, stronger life.

The second segment--Mighty Man--is where he discusses pressing and relevant topics specifically for the 40+ crowd that will help you become that better, stronger, healthier version of yourself.

Isai has been consulting with the top traditional and naturopathic doctors, trainers, physical therapists, and other coaches for the past 10+ years and gathering all sorts of great information on every health related.

In wake of the current COVID pandemic, he's decided to bring all of his knowledge and expertise direct to you through his humoristic, straight-talking, sarcastic chats.

And with his NYC "No-Bull-Sh*t" attitude, he's always fun to listen to.

We have to understand that the world is changing. In the past, we only had to worry about one (maybe two) viruses...... but now we have to deal with three or more viruses at the same time. This is a huge change, and we have to learn to adapt to it.A healthy diet will help us to stay strong and fit. It will also help us to fight off infections and disease. The foods we eat are like our medicine; they can be used to keep us well. But if we eat the wrong foods, then the opposite is true. They can make us sick, and that's why it's important to know what to eat, and what not to eat.And making the change from one to the other can be monumental but it doesn't have to be.There are many ways of eating that are sustainable, easy to maintain and fun to do. The first thing to remember is that food is fuel.We don't need a lot of it – just enough to get us through our day.I'm not saying you should never eat anything that's unhealthy or processed, but you should only eat what you feel good about and enjoy.I also want to stress that you don't have to starve yourself to lose weight. You can eat whatever you like as long as you eat enough to stay strong and healthy. It's more of a mental training that puts you on the right track from the mind out. You're being mindful of what you eat.But mental training (just like physical training) takes time, effort, and some coaching at times.I'd like to help with the coaching part and so I have 5 tricks that'll help you ease into a new normal in this "Post COVID Pandemic" world we're transitioning into.I'll give you the mind-exercise-framework, you implement it in your life ASAP, and we'll both watch how it all gets simpler over time.Go ahead RIGHT NOW and SMASH that PLAY button to get the mouth watering details on this episode of "The Dad-Splanation Podcast".Catch you on the other side!Episode Timestamps:0:00 - Intro1:26 - Welcome and Salutations2:04 - Throat update3:36 - My Wellness Fix4:51 - The weather has not been cooperating6:51 - This made me laugh8:31 - Gotta stop saying this9:05 - Meat & Potatoes: How To Ease Into The New Normal11:34 - This transition is like no other12:40 - What people have reported during COVID pandemic13:39 - What people are saying after the COVID pandemic14:11 - We've all been affected by it14:44 - The Nuclear Fallout15:52 - First: Envision a new normal 17:03 - What you should be focusing on18:43 - Second: Set a goal19:17 - Reflect on the specific things that you want to change20:42 - Third: Make a plan21:46 - Making a plan isn't all that hard22:55 - Fourth: Focus on nutrients24:11 - Examples of foods to eat24:50 - Examples of what not to eat26:52 - Why people in the gym are always smiling27:36 - Fifth: Take it easy as you transition to your new normal29:09 - Another "Crazy" idea that may or may not materialize29:52 - Moving it along a bit30:30 - Bottom Line: Ready to take control of their health32:07 - Closing Creditshttps://www.dadsplanation.com/mindhacks/

If you’re like most people, you know that eating healthy is important for your physical well-being.However, there’s another reason why you should eat healthy: it can have a positive impact on your emotional well-being.In fact, research shows that people who eat a balanced diet tend to be more productive and have better relationships.Stress causes your body to release hormones that can make you feel tired, anxious, and even depressed. The more stress you experience, the more of these hormones are released. At this point, now your body has to work overtime keep you alive. But when you eat nutritious food, it helps your body to heal and recover from stress. It also helps your body to work the way it was engineered to work by "The Big Guy" upstairs! 😉😉Now... have you ever thought about the effect of your diet on your mental health? Here's the thing... Eating healthy doesn’t just make you physically healthier. It can also boost your mood and reduce stress. That's right! Eating healthy can improve your mood, help you sleep better, and even help you relax. In fact, a study published in the journal Nutrients found that people who followed a Mediterranean diet had less of the stress hormone cortisol in their bodies than those who didn't.Not only that but how can you ensure you get all the nutrients you need? The best way to do this is by eating a balanced diet. This means having a variety of foods in each meal, making sure you include fruit and vegetables at every meal, and eating a range of foods from different food groups (carbohydrates, proteins, and fats). When you eat a balanced diet, you’ll be more likely to meet your daily nutritional requirements. But why is this so important to your mental health?Well, if you’re stressed or anxious, chances are good that you’re looking for and consuming a lot of sugar – not just because it tastes nice, but also because your body is looking for energy. It wants the quick hit of glucose (sugar) and without it, you feel tired, irritable, and anxious. That’s why eating a balanced diet, with plenty of protein, fat, and carbohydrates, will help you feel more relaxed, focused, and less stressed.Plus if you're eating more of the good stuff you're supposed to be eating, then you won't be overeating or splurging on the things you shouldn't be eating simply because you "had a craving for it".So if you're ready to put down the "Jell-O Pudding Pops" and start taking care of your mental health...Go ahead RIGHT NOW and SMASH that PLAY button to get the true low down on this episode of "The Dad-Splanation Podcast".Catch you on the other side!Episode Timestamps:0:00 - Intro1:25 - Welcome and Salutations2:13 - Speaking of voice3:35 - This also didn't help my voice4:11 - Here we are4:28 - Just got back4:59 - This surprised me5:39 - Thank you for the invite5:54 - Aside from the wedding (We were Live and In-Person)6:52 - This surprised me8:04 - Thanks for the support8:51 - Why we do all this10:01 - Dmar Hamlin12:52 - Meat and Potatoes: How To Support Your Mental Health Through Diet14:10 - Recipe for fitness disaster14:46 - This is what start eating away at your mind15:49 - The strange thing I noticed in myself17:01 - My people skills "batting average"18:24 - Looking to better myself19:56 - Better dealing with mental health through diet22:02 - Links between what you eat and how you feel23:34 - The most notable study on connections between diet and mental health26:36 - Why this diet was chosen for the study28:04 - The data is still rolling in28:53 - People will argue with me on this point until the end of time29:25 - In the world of "Pandora"30:23 - Closing CreditsWant more "Dad-Splanation" goodness? Then head on over to podcast.dadsplanation.com/vip

There are many weight loss claims being made in the fitness industry and one of those claims is the whole concept of "exercising in the heat".  The train of thought behind this "concept" is that heat increases your metabolic rate and burns more calories.

But is this really the case? It’s a question that has been debated in the media and in the fitness industry for years.

While it’s true that exercising in the heat can cause you to burn more calories, there are some downsides to this method.

For one thing, exercising in the heat causes the body to sweat excessively, which can lead to dehydration and overheating. The other problem with exercising in the heat is that your muscles don’t get a chance to cool down between workouts.

This is why it is important to drink plenty of water before, during, and after you work out in the heat and to take plenty of rests throughout your workout as needed.

So for example, if you are training for a marathon (or even a half-marathon), make sure to bring plenty of water with you to help you stay hydrated during your workout. You can also take sips of water while you run or walk.

In addition to drinking enough water, make sure to drink plenty of electrolytes during your workouts in the heat. Electrolytes are minerals that help your body regulate fluid levels and keep you from getting too dehydrated.

So for example, if you are doing strength training, make sure you drink a sports drink with sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium in it. During your workout, you may even want to consider taking a few sips of water mixed with salt. Salt helps your muscles retain water.

But here's the thing...

The biggest enemy you have to deal with when exercising in the heat is dehydration. It's just that simple.

So if you're looking to exercise in the heat or maybe you're already doing so...

... I've got several more tips and hacks waiting for you over on this week's podcast discussion.

Go ahead and SMASH that PLAY button right NOW and get all the Dad-Splanation Goodness downloading directly into your brain! Matrix-style! ;-)

Putting on muscle gains is a major factor that influences your body (both aesthetically and from a health perspective).

The more muscle you have, the more strength and confidence you have. As the saying goes “Bigger muscles mean more power”.

If you want to grow muscle fast, you need to make sure that your diet is near perfect. You can’t just eat any-old food and expect to build muscle. You need to be eating the right foods and lifting heavy weights for maximum results.

Now, I don’t believe that protein is the magic bullet when it comes to building muscle. But it does play an important role in your muscle-building efforts. You need protein for building new muscle tissue.

There are other points to consider when we're talking about energy in relation to building muscle. Things like your training level, hormones, sex, and age all play key roles in your ability to build muscle.

But listen up... There's no shortcut to success. You have to work at it. And then there's also the mental side of things too. You'll have to put in some work there as well.

I'm not going to lie, it can be pretty frustrating at times. But if you just keep at it, you'll get there. You'll make it.

And so if you’re looking to find out how much muscle you can effectively put on in a month, then...

Go ahead and SMASH that PLAY button right NOW and hang on to your chair as we rev into full speed and tackle this question head on!

Catch you on the other side!

One of the most important things when you’re about to go to sleep is comfort.

It’s the reason why you do a little tossing and turning in your bed as you settle into a position that you feel is comfortable.

If you don’t find that magical spot, then you’ll probably have some issues falling asleep.

Since a lack of sleep (or sleep deprivation) is connected to major issues like poor memory retention, lowered immune system, high blood pressure, and (if you’re my baby boy) a serious case of the grumpies…

… then doing your best to sleep well is definitely something you want to take seriously.

And even though a lot of your lifestyle choices do impact the potential quality of your snooze session, it’s really not going to matter if your body isn’t in a position for sleep that feels right to you.

So it doesn’t matter if you’re drinking caffeine before bed.

It doesn’t matter if you take your time for some truly zen-inducing meditation before bed.

None of that matters if your body is not in a comfortable position. Period.

And so that’s why learning how to sleep on your back may actually help you get that much needed sleep you really need.

MCTs have become pretty popular with people who want to lose weight. Mostly in the athletic world.

But what exactly are they?

Like what do they do… what are they for… what is the importance of MCTs and why are they popular?

Well the short answer is that MCTs are a special type of fatty acids.

We normally eat foods high in long-chain triglycerides (or LCTs).

These are foods like nuts, seeds, avocados, fish, and meat.

But there are only a few foods (a handful) that are high in MCTs.

The list is pretty short. We’ve got breast milk, cow’s milk, goat’s milk, coconut oil, palm kernel oil, coconut meat, and dried coconut.

The fatty acids that make up a triglyceride can be monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, or saturated.

Also to be noted is that every fat has some combination of monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, or saturated fatty acid.

But it’s the predominant type of fatty acid that defines each type of fat.

So for example, olive oil has mostly monounsaturated fatty acids, soybean oil has mostly polyunsaturated fatty acids, and butter has mostly saturated fatty acids.

So in simpler terms (or as I like to say) in terms that make sense to me…

If a food item has more of one particular fatty acid, then that is the fatty acid that it’s known to have and that’s what determines whether or not a specific food is good or bad for you.

And not to over complicate things but there is the saturation of fatty acid or how much or how concentrated the fatty acid is and then there is the length of the fatty acid.

And that's not all!

Go ahead and SMASH that PLAY button right NOW to discover exactly what I left out here!

Do you need to improve your concentration?

Think about it for a second... because the answer to this question is kinda simple.

And so if you answered “Yes” then just know that there's a yoga move for that.

And the best part of this move is that you can do it in less than a minute between meetings to help you refocus your attention as your mind starts to wander. I do it all the time, it works great, and it only takes a few minutes. 60 seconds total, to be exact.

I’ll be in the middle of a Zoom meeting where I’m not really participating, I just need to be listening and so when I find myself in one of these wonderful meetings and starting to tune out, what I do is that I’ll pull out my yoga mat and start doing a few sun salutations. I literally do a few down dogs, up dogs, pigeon stretches, triangle poses, all the warrior positions, half moon, happy baby… You name it, I do it!

But this particular 60-second brain-boosting exercise is super, super simple for you to do and so there’s really no point in not doing it. And like I said, it really gets the juices in your brain flowing so you can refocus and help out your concentration. You can refocus on what it is you need to concentrate on at that very moment.

And so if you've been walking around with brain fog lately, tuning out of your Zoom sessions, or simply want to add another amazing stretch to your daily routine, then go ahead and SMASH that PLAY button right NOW and let's bring you back into focus!

I’ve been there before and as far as I can remember, I only lost my cool once, where I actually swung at an inanimate object.

I look back at it now and I think how stupid I was to lose my shit the way I did and actually punch something but you live and you learn, right…

And if you’re like me and have "lost your cool" in the past then let me tell you… there’s a new therapy you may want to look into.

It’s called Rage Therapy. And well… maybe it’s not all that new but it definitely might be new to you if you’re not aware of it.

Personally… I’ve always been a little short-tempered as a child and as I grew into a young adult.

As a kid the rage was cute (maybe even funny, I suppose) but as I grew older and started venturing off into the real world, I quickly realized that controlling my outbursts would be critical to becoming a mature adult.

As I grew into a young adult, I invested a lot of time into my personal growth. So I started reading personal development books and things of that nature. I wanted to develop strategies that help me control the rage and even prevent my temper from getting the better of me. And let me tell you; it was not easy.

That being said, I was intrigued when I started hearing about the concept of rage therapy. Everything I learned up to that point told me I had to keep my anger and rage contained (I had to bottle it up)...

… but this new movement was pretty much the opposite. They were actually encouraging you to let it all out. In a controlled way, of course.

And so if you're ready to get your rage into check or simply curious (as I was) then just (politely) SMASH that PLAY button right NOW and let's talk about how to tame that inner beast!

Get your "Mind Hacks" freebie @ podcast.dadsplanation.com/mindhacks __________________________________________________ Are you feeling sore in your neck rather than your abs after a core workout?

Don't worry... You're not alone.

Because doing mat-based exercises like crunches can definitely help strengthen your core...

BUT they may also cause you to strain your neck in the process.

Especially if you haven't built up your core muscles yet.

You can easily overwork your neck muscles if you grip them while working out.

Because here’s what happens…

If you have a weak core, you naturally tend to grip your neck when doing crunches or core exercises.

This pulls on your back muscles and causes extra tension that otherwise would not be there.

So if you wanna give your neck a break from the same ol' ab routines…

Why not try standing core exercises instead.

These exercises I’m about to share with you, will leave you feeling the burn in not only your abs, but the rest of your body, too.

You try and find that you're still feeling exhausted?

If that’s you, here’s the secret that you may have missed.

Sleep and rest are not the same thing.

That’s the key right there.

There’s a huge difference between the two.

And as it turns out, many of us (myself included) incorrectly confuse the two.

We go through life thinking we’ve rested because we’ve gotten enough sleep.

But in reality we are missing out on the other types of rest that our bodies desperately need.

And what ends up happening is that we’re left with a culture of high-achieving, high-producing, chronically tired and chronically burned-out people.

We’re suffering from a rest deficiency because we don’t understand the true power of rest.

Continue the conversation over @ podcast.dadsplanation.com/vip __________________________________________________ The fitness industry has long led us to believe that "more is more."

That “more is better”...

And the you’ve gotta “show up or go home”

And this can be true for the most part but not always.

This “attitude” towards the gym and working out means that if you're looking to get stronger...

... you might think that committing to two-a-day workouts is the fastest and easiest way to do it.

But again... that's not always the case.

I mean... It IS possible to go TOO hard—which can backfire.

And if it backfires, you’ll most likely find yourself NOT making ANY strength gains.

And it's important to keep an eye on signs of overtraining for the sake of your overall health.

So “Overtraining” happens when you exceed (or go way beyond) your body's ability to recover from strenuous exercise,

It happens when you don't give your body enough time to rest and repair.

This is critical for serious gains.

Because if you don’t give your body the right amount of time to restore and rebuild itself...

This will most likely cause your performance to significantly decline in and out of the gym.

So if you're at the gym and it's all pain and no gain...

... then it's possible that you're overtraining yourself to death.

Can you actually shred up your mid-section with a 5 minute workout?

And well... anything’s possible if you’re consistent with it.

Obviously, you're not going to do one or two of these ab sculpting workouts and have a 6-pack by day three.

It just doesn't work that way.

That’s not what we’re talking about here.

What we ARE talking about is being consistent and doing these exercises during your training sessions to achieve that overall result you’re after.

And whether you're a workout rookie or just looking to reset your routine...

Starting a new fitness regimen can be overwhelming.

I say it all the time and I’ll say it again because It IS.

But when we workout together—to hold each other accountable and celebrate the little wins...

Science has shown that we can not only stay motivated in the long run, but we can also have more fun while "in the moment".

That’s why accountability groups are great.

They work well for so many people.

And so I put together this 5 minute workout for one of the groups I’m in and then shared it with the community and let me tell you...

I got some great feedback through both channels.

It’s pretty cool too because you can use this 5 minute workout as a warmup to a longer format workout.

You can “UP” the intensity by doing it double-time and then doubling or tripling your sets.

You can really get creative with it!

Like you can take a break from your day for 5 minutes, bust out this workout, and then get back to what you were doing originally.

You’re really limited only by your imagination, to be honest with you!

So now, if you're ready to start carving up your mid-section one-minute-at-a-time...

Then SMASH that PLAY button right NOW to start melting away the fat in the next five minutes! Catch you on the other side! __________________________________________________

Even when you have to keep a busy schedule, it's still important.

But that doesn't mean there's NEVER a bad time to work up a sweat.

And surprisingly, the experts say that exercising at night could be negatively impacting your sleep.

I suppose it’s a good thing that you're working out in the first place so that’s a big ole’ “Good for you!” my friend!

Really!... but, again...

Sleep is also equally as important!

And while some workouts are OK to do before jumping into bed...

There is one specific type of exercise in particular that could be keeping you awake.

So if you’re the type of person that likes to work out at night and you're finding it harder to fall asleep...

Then this is the episode for you because according to the experts at Sleep.org...

Engaging in "this" type of exercise in the 90 minutes before you plan on “hitting the hay” could make falling asleep much more difficult.

And there's research to back that up.

I just knew that a lot of people were bringing it up in different group discussions and so...

And I what I found has been interesting to say the least and I'm certain you’ll enjoy!

So first off... What the hell IS Milk Thistle anyway?

Again, I’ve heard the word or term thrown around but what is it exactly?

Well, as it turns out...

Milk thistle is a popular herbal remedy that’s been used for hundreds of years to treat a variety of medical conditions, including diseases of the liver and gallbladder.

Essentially, it's a type of flowering plant.

But more recently milk thistle has been promoted as a tool for encouraging weight loss...

Because to be honest, it's not as simple and as straightforward as just stepping on the scale and seeing whatever that magic number is for you.

And when you hear about “healthy weight”...

You often hear references to BMI or Body Mass Index.

This is supposed to be like the standard of judging what's healthy or not healthy.

Continue the conversation over @ https://podcast.dadsplanation.com/vip __________________________________________________ How are your bodyweight exercises at home coming along?

Are you seeing the progress you wanted to see?

Because what I’ve found is that after months of doing bodyweight exercises at home, you're probably ready to try something new.

Am I right?

And while you could certainly mix things up by ordering some fancy workout equipment...

You can also choose to “Level UP” your at-home workouts with one of the most basic and affordable pieces of equipment your money can buy.

Seriously...

A simple set of dumbbells will easily upgrade your workouts and take'em to the next level.

And adding weights into your workout is a great way to increase the overall strength and tone of your muscles.

It'll also improve your balance, flexibility, and stability.

But when you're first considering a good quality set of dumbbells, it can certainly be a little overwhelming, for sure.

Me personally, I love supplementing bodyweight exercises with dumbbells to essentially make the movements harder and more challenging.

And adding progressive weight to your workouts forces the muscles to constantly have to adapt and rebuild themselves stronger.

This makes your at home workouts highly effective which is the key to creating those desired “next level” results you’re looking for.

And so when you're first getting started with beginner dumbbell exercises...

I suggest you keep it simple and choose light dumbbells (ideally between 20 and 30 pounds or whatever you feel is “light” for you).

You want to be able to learn the movements of the exercise correctly and execute proper form before upgrading the weight.

The right weight dumbbells ensure that you train effectively without putting the wrong type of strain on your muscles.

You want to train smarter, not harder, so you can eliminate the risk of potential injury.

And remember that using heavy weight doesn’t equal results when it's used the wrong way.

So you'll want to start off by focusing on more basic stationary moves, like squats, chest presses, rows, biceps curls, shoulder presses, and triceps extensions.

These are fundamental movements...

Get that form down to a science with the lighter weights and then once you have a solid foundation...

That’s when you can add in some compound moves where you work the upper and lower body together.

And once you get to the point of compound move exercises, then listen up...

I’ve got 7 super effective exercises you can add into your workouts that’ll basically hit every muscle in your body, make you sweat, and help you achieve those next level results you're after!

Are you ready?...

All right...

There’s NO DOUBT that many of us have developed a new and intense relationship with Purell over the past year or so.

In fact, sometimes I feel like the character Sheldon Cooper from “The Big Bang Theory”.

It’s funny because it used to be super hilarious to see how “germ-a-phobic” he is...

And how he’s always Purell-ing and sanitizing his surroundings.

But these days, it’s taken on a whole new life.

I mean, scenes where he refuses to shake hands or...

... where he’s dishing out Purell to everyone like it’s free Acid at a Rave.

These scenes are still funny as hell but after all we’ve been through with the pandemic, it has a slightly different edge to it.

Like I can sympathize with him a lot more rather than just blindly laughing at how “Germaphobic” he is because to an extent...

I’m like that too!

Because of the pandemic, hand sanitizer is a daily use item — it’s just as essential when leaving the house as your phone, wallet and keys.

And I’d argue, a facemask!

So now, instead of saying to myself “Ok. I’m ready to head out the door. Where’s my Cell-Phone, Wallet, and keys"...

Now my routine is "cell-phone, wallet, keys, mask, and sanitizer".

And to be honest, there's good reason to turn to hand sanitizer.

So hand hygiene helps prevent the spread of infection.

I think that's pretty clear. It's just a no-brainer these days.

And using hand sanitizer is a cheap, convenient option when you’re “out-and-about” doing what it is you need to do for the day.

Compared to washing your hands for 20 seconds multiple times a day, hand sanitizer presumably irritates your skin a lot less.

Plus, it's easy to use on-the-go when you're running errands that take you anywhere from the local park...

... where you have all sorts of kiddos running around and sharing their germs freely and openly, to places like the grocery store and the gas station.

But according to experts, this whole “squirt-and-rub” process only protects you if you pick up the right sanitizer and use it correctly.

They've also listed the biggest hand sanitizer mistakes they’ve noticed — and more importantly, how to fix them.

So let’s get right into it...

SMASH that PLAY button right NOW to discover the 9 biggest mistakes they've found.

With less movement due to the pandemic, your mobility has most likely taken a hit for the worst.

It might even be leaving you feeling all stiff, achy, or in pain.

This lack of mobility also affects your at-home workouts.

So for example, if you don’t have good hip mobility when doing things like squats and lunges...

… then your body will compensate by tugging on the lower back, knees, and ankles, which can ultimately cause injury and more pain.

That's why it's important to regularly focus on exercises that can help improve your range of motion.

They allow your joints to move more smoothly through its full range of motion with control and without restrictions.

And so I’ve got some great beginner-friendly exercises that are a great place to start with improving your mobility from head to toe.

I’ve added many of these same exercises throughout my day for stability, flexibility, and (obviously) mobility.

So SMASH that PLAY button right NOW to discover what these exercises are.

Vitamin D (aka the sunshine vitamin) is a hormone that your body produces when your skin is exposed to the sun.

You can also get vitamin D from your diet but there are very few foods that actually contain enough Vitamin D for it to make a difference.

Simply put... Exposure to the sun and diet alone are not enough.

And maintaining optimal levels of vitamin D is crucial for healthy bones, your brain, and your immune system.

It’s also been suggested that getting the right amount of vitamin D into your body can help prevent unwanted weight gain.

There's a specific exercise that doesn’t get nearly enough love if you ask me.

And trainers are saying that it’s about time you put it to work for you within your exercise routine.

While the flat bench press is perfectly level to the ground and...

... the incline bench press is at an upward slope, the decline bench press offers more of a challenge than the other two.

It positions you at a downward slope in order to target a different area of your chest than a flat or incline bench.

And since you’re working against gravity and pushing the weight up from a downward angle...

... you’re able to hit those "hard to target" muscles like your lower pecs.

Building up every area of your chest—including the lower pecs, as this exercise does—can benefit you greatly in your everyday life.

It helps with your posture and other everyday movements.

Not only does it strengthen your chest, the decline bench press also builds up your arms and shoulders—particularly your anterior deltoids, triceps, and biceps.

And if you want to know exactly how to squeeze the most benefit out of a decline bench press...

This might sound silly but can you touch your toes?

Because if you can’t, then your body might be trying to tell you something and you’re just not listening.

So if you're an active type of guy then you most likely set aside some time for aerobic (or cardio) exercise to improve your heart health.

Am I right?

As more people have learned about how food impacts both your physical and mental health...

It’s sparked a growing interest around the whole "food journaling" thing.

Now to be clear... We’re not just talking about simple old fashioned “calorie counting”...

No way!

This goes way beyond that.

The traditional "calorie counting" techniques of the past where strictly based on calories-in versus calories-out.

So old school and so out of date.

Because keeping a holistic food journal is all about seeing the connection...

... between what you eat and how it makes you feel inside and out.

It has so many benefits, including helping you understand (at a deeper level) which foods make you feel good and which ones don’t.

But if you’ve never kept one before, then knowing exactly how to do it can be a little tricky for sure.

So whether your doctor is advising you to start checking your blood pressure at home...

Or you’re personally interested in monitoring your health a bit closer...

There's only one option and that's a blood pressure monitor.

It helps you measure and record your blood pressure in just a few minutes and is the cornerstone of keeping track of your health.

These monitors basically include an inflatable cuff that, when pressurized, slows down the flow of blood in your artery.

A meter then measures the difference between the restricted and unrestricted blood flow.

And taking your blood pressure reading can also be pretty straightforward (with the right device).

So the question now is "Which monitor is right for me?"

Great question... and luckily for you, I've already done the legwork for you.

Because, you see... Your choice of blood pressure monitor truly does matter.

The best blood pressure monitors should be accurate, calibrated, and give results close to what you’d see in the doctor’s office.

And I've found 7 monitors that hit all of these points perfectly...

There’s fat all over your body, not just between your ribcage and your waistband.

The fatty tissue that lives under your skin is there for a purpose.

It’s a connective tissue called subcutaneous fat and it sort of jiggles when you flick it or pinch it.

But there’s another kind of fat that’s harder to notice unless you happen to be sporting the telltale protruding belly.

That fat tissue is called visceral fat because it forms around your gut... like deep in the belly near your internal organs.

And it doesn’t jiggle...

It’s actually firm when you poke it.

This visceral fat is the worst kind of fat because not only is it super hard to get rid of...

... but because it acts like a toxic waste dump spewing out harmful chemicals right next to your most important body parts.

That being said, this puts you at greater risk for diabetes and heart disease.

It reduces your testosterone levels, damages the lining of your blood vessels, and compromises blood flow in your body.
