On this week's episode, I interview my friend, Maggie! We talk about Maggie's background as a non-denominational Christian, and what religion and spirituality have come to mean to her now. Maggie talks about what it was like to grow up realizing she was bisexual in a church that wasn't accepting of that identity, and how she felt pressure to save other's (dogs included) from going to hell. As an enneagram 3, Maggie now tells us what her prayer/meditation life is like.

This week I got to interview Finn (they/them) about what it's like to be a Universalist Unitarian (UU) in Canada. Finn tells me about the many ceremonies involved in Universalist Unitarianism, including water communion, bridging ceremonies, and angel wash. Then, Finn explains why UU is not an apolitical religion, and we discuss political differences between the US and Canada. Finn also talks about what it's like to be trans in a UU community, and gives us a brief overview of sex education and anti-racism* work within UU. Lastly, I ask about worship services, prayer, and misconceptions about UU.
*In the interview, I reference a book I read about race and the ELCA recently. That book was Dear Church: A Love Letter from a Black Preacher to the Whitest Denomination in the US by Lenny Duncan. Highly recommend.

This week I ask Pastor Kate some pastor-y questions! Kate is an ordained ELCA pastor who, like me, graduated from Hope College. In this episode, I demand that Pastor Kate tell us why the young people don't come to church anymore!!! Kate explains how she's making church cool again. Then, we discuss what it's like to be a pastor during such politically divisive times.
In the second half, we really get in the theological weeds and talk about Heaven and Hell. Who's in? Who's out? In episode three of A Time For Everything, I am interviewing a therapist and asking YOUR questions about therapy! (And also whatever other questions I feel like). I ask Lindsay (she/her) a little bit about being a "casual Catholic," and about the intersection of faith and therapy. Then we address all the questions. How do I start looking for a therapist? What should I do if I can't afford therapy? What can I expect to happen once I do find a therapist? What are the red flags to look for in therapy? Why don't therapists talk about themselves? Will I get a diagnosis? What does treatment look like? What about medication? What about marijuana and CBD products? And finally, how do I break up with a therapist?
