In McCulloch County, there will be two contested races at the local level — Sheriff and Precinct 3 County Commissioner.

Incumbent Sheriff Matt Andrews is being challenged by Arty Roberts.

In Precinct 3, where incumbent County Commissioner Jason Behrens chose not to seek re-election, four people came forward to file as a candidate for the post — Debbie Clifton, Cody Crouch, Chad Hill and Rod Young.

KNEL hosted a Candidate Forum on Monday, April 24, 2023. The Forum included the candidates for

All of the Candidates in the contested races for Brady City Council, Brady Mayor and the Brady ISD Board of Trustees participated in the Forum.  Each candidate had an opportunity to outline who they are; why they are running for the office; and to offer their reasoning as to why the voters should select that person for the post.

Brady City Council –  Candidates for the Place 4 seat are Tony Groves and Felix Gomez.

Brady Mayor – A Special election will be held May 6 to fill the unexpired term for Mayor, following the resignation of former Mayor Tony Groves in January.  Four candidates filed for the Mayoral election  — James Griffin, Aaron Garcia, Robert Fowler and Joe Sanchez.

Brady ISD – Two seats on the BISD Board expire this year.  Reed Williams is seeking re-election to the SMD 3 seat on the School Board. He is opposed  by Charles Bush who filed as write-in candidate for the seat.

A Town Hall Meeting hosted Thursday, March 11, 2021  evening by the City of Brady focused on law enforcement in the community.

The purpose of the meeting is to encourage conversation between local law enforcement and the community. The Meeting will also provide public safety tips and information on how to start neighborhood watch groups.

The key element of the Town Hall were presentations by representatives from the Brady Police Dept., the Sheriff's Office and Crime Stoppers. Plus, officers were avaialble answer questions from residents attending the meeting.

KNEL Morning Show Guest Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2020, Brady Mayor Tony Groves, gives and update on the City Council Meeting Tuesday Nov. 16, 2020.

Council approved the first reading of a resolution for the Brady Economic Development Corporation to provide $100,000 to Hofstetter Petroleum Distribution which has recently located in the former Roddie Wool Scouring facility. Hofstetter expects to employ six people at the facility.

The Council agenda approved a change in the City organization chart in which the position of Community Outreach Director, currently held by Erin Corbell, will be changed to Deputy City Manager.

Classes in Mason schools have been back in session for just over a week, and Mason ISD Superintendent Stan Whittle reported that first week went well.

But, like other schools across the state, dealing with COVID 19 presents challenges.

For Mason, one of those challenges is that they received word this week that three students had tested positive for the COVID 19 virus.

Republican U.S. House candidate, August Pfluger, was a guest on KNEL's Morning Program Thursday, August 20, 2020. Pfluger was also the guest speaker at a meeting of McCulloch County Republican women.

A native of San Angelo, Pfluger won the Republican party nomination as the candidate for the U.S. House District 11 seat in the November General Election.

The seat is currently held by Republican Mike Conaway who chose not to seek re-election.
