Today we're going to delve into a topic that affects our wellbeing in more ways than we realise: the damaging effects of sugar. Sugar has become a staple in our daily lives, hiding in our morning coffee, desserts, and even seemingly healthy foods. But beneath its sweetness lies a deceptive nature that wreaks havoc on our physical and mental health. In this episode, we'll explore the addictive nature of sugar and its impact on our brains, the connection between sugar and inflammation, and the alarming link between excessive sugar consumption and conditions like type 2 diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and even cancer. Join me as we uncover the truth about sugar and learn how to break free from its grip.

In this episode, we're diving deep into the damage caused by fad diets. We'll explore the physical and psychological impact of restrictive diets, and discuss the negative language we use when it comes to food. But it doesn't end there - we'll also unpack the prevalence of unhealthy food choices and the addictive nature of processed foods.
However, there is hope! We'll explore a path toward true health and nourishment that goes beyond calorie counting and guilt. It's about embracing a holistic approach and listening to our body's wisdom. I'll also introduce my Nourish Me for Life program, which focuses on mindset as a key element in finding freedom from destructive eating habits.

Today I'm talking all about the six human hungers. There are various ways that our body gives us cues that make us eat and or certainly make us feel that we are hungry. I am going to explain how they interact and work with our bodies. The six human hungers are nutritional hunger, thirst, low blood sugar, emotional hunger, which I'm sure is one that many of us recognise quite a lot, and lastly empty stomach hunger. I’ll be exploring all six in this episode and explaining why it’s important to understand them when it comes to choosing a healthy way to eat.

In this week’s podcast, I am talking about spirituality or what represents our inner world. Spirituality is about going within and discovering what's there to support you. There are a variety of spiritual practices that a person can incorporate to support wellness in the workplace. It doesn’t matter what your religious beliefs are, spiritual practices and tools like meditation, visualisation and prayer can all fall into this category.

This episode is all about sleep and the importance of sleep for our wellbeing. I had some real struggles with sleep and insomnia at the age of 40. I really started to have a bad relationship with sleep, and it slowly it just got worse and worse and worse. It got to the point when I knew I had to seek help.
So, I am delighted to be interviewing Frances Taylor who is a sleep expert and helped me get back on track. She is a fellow of the International Stress Management Association. She's trained in CBTI, which is Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Insomnia and has 15 years of experience facilitating resilience events in diverse settings from universities to international film studios.

In today’s episode, I am going to be interviewing Sassy Smith, who is an expert in neurodiversity. She is a qualified coach, mentor, and trainer, and is the founder of Aphantasia Academy, where she teaches coaches and other professionals how to work with neurodivergent people.
We are discussing neurodiversity, what it is and how it can impact a person in the workplace and what employers can do about it in terms of supporting people in the UK. One in seven people has a neurodiverse condition, the most common ones being autism, A D H D, Tourette's, dyspraxia, dyslexia, and OCD.

About Sassy Smith:
Sassy Smith is a qualified coach, mentor, and trainer and is the founder of the Aphantasia Academy where she teaches coaches and other professionals how to work with neurodivergent clients.
Discovering that she was unable to visualise, had no access to her memories, and couldn't hear her internal thoughts, helped her to understand why she was able to get great results for her clients, when coaching them, but was unable to get the same results for herself.
Through research, and conversations with others like her, she began to understand why coaching and personal development programmes weren't as effective for people like her.
She now teaches other professionals about this and how they can learn to adapt their styles to support their neurodivergent clients

Today we are talking about financial wellbeing. There is a growing interest in this area, not least because of the current economy, particularly in the UK and the financial pressure that it’s putting on individuals. In fact, financial wellbeing is the least common area that employers focus on when it comes to wellbeing strategies for their employees. This episode will focus on why it’s so important.

Today I decided to change the episode that I was going to record for this week because there was a decision made by the government on menopause at work, They declined to trial menopausal leave at work and the reason that they did this was because they felt that it would discriminate against men.
Menopause is a debilitating disease and it should be recognised as a disability. So I decided to share my own story of perimenopause and menopause so that men, women, and everybody can hear a heartfelt story of what it's really like to go through this experience. I also wanted to share a male perspective, so I also have an interview with my husband Tony who shares his point of view too.

As we head towards the end of January, I want to focus this episode on energy and creating more energy. We’ve all started off with some really great intentions in January but have you stuck to them? My other episodes this month have been all about goals, intentions and goal setting. I'm sure many of us have been making inroads into changing habits, be that dry January, healthy eating, or being more focused, and present. But have you really tuned into how your body is feeling?

Today, I thought I would follow on with the theme of goal setting and talk about motivation and particularly motivation linked to goals. Motivation gives us energy and it gives us energy to achieve our goals, whether that be long-term or short-term goals.
When we achieve our goals, that in itself brings more motivation and more success and then that brings us more motivation. So it's a sort of catch-22 to a certain extent. We won't always be successful in achieving our goals and there will be setbacks but by building resilience, we've got more opportunities to be successful.

Today we are going to be talking about the wellbeing wheel. There are many domains in life that are generally studied independently. Domains are the collective structure of the activities within our lives. Our activities can serve to support or undermine our life. In this episode, we are looking at the wheel and talk about how one area of your life going wrong can impact on many others.
