Zach Gowan is a professional wrestler, father, teacher and motivational speaker. He is best known for his time as a WWE Superstar in the early 2000s. He stood out because he did it all on one leg.

Zach was diagnosed with bone cancer and the age of 8. The result was an above knee leg amputation. Despite this set back, Zach was undeterred. He trained to become a professional wrestler and quickly grew a following, ultimately signing with the WWE at the young age of 19.

Unfortunately, the quick success had significant drawbacks. He was drawn into a party lifestyle that left him riddled with addiction. The fall from fame was significant, years later, he would enter rehab, and completely change his life for the better.

Michael Kohlweg is a nine time British and European heavyweight wrestling champion, a bodybuilder, a fitness trainer and an award winning comedian. He and his wife immigrated to the United States from the United Kingdom. They currently reside in San Jose where Michael owns a Thunder Fitness gym.

Chris Crotte is an American Professional Wrestler, Combat War Veteran and all around bad ass. He wrestles under a mask as "The Superbeast" and if you think that's a gimmick, you are sadly mistaken.

The Superbeast grew up in Sacramento, and was quickly in the foster system. He had several placements in group homes and receiving homes throughout his childhood. Labeled a "hellian" he had one constant in his life, pro wrestling.

As he grew older, he realized that no one was coming to save him, and that he had to forge a path of success.

He decided he wanted to be a warrior, and thus joined the Army. He served several stints in the middle east during the war on terror before being honorably discharged after 8 years of service.

Upon his return he joined Supreme Pro Wrestling's training center. Unfortunately, indy wrestling politics in the Northern California area made it difficult for him to find his footing and he eventually moved to Las Vegas. Once he made the move, he began to take the wrestling world by storm. The Superbeast is now a mainstay in Mexico and Japan. He is booked all over the country, and he has been able to forge a major name for himself as an independent pro wrestler.

Bill Eadie and Barry Darsow are American Professional Wrestlers who have performed all over the world. They are most widely remembered as three time WWE tag team champions Demolition.

"Ax" & "Smash" dominated the WWE tag team division in the late 1980s and early 1990s. They were originally formed by Randy Colley of the Moondogs. Colley saw Lord Humungus in the film "Mad Max 2" and used that as inspiration for the characters. Unfortunately, Colley was too recognizable, and Darsow was chosen to replace him.

Joe Gamble is an African-American police officer who serves in the Sacramento area.

Joe grew up in humble circumstances. His siblings struggled with many of the vices that came with their surroundings. Joe was determined to make a better life.

On his 19th birthday, his parents kicked him out of the house. He would eventually end up homeless in San Francisco.

In San Francisco he found a Men's home and support that got him into college. He excelled in football (in a non traditional role) and eventually joined the Marines. He served combat tours in Afghanistan.

He now serves as a peace officer in the Sacramento area. His circumstances and general distrust of police has made him a unique person on the force. He is now a proud father of two children and a home owner.

Marcus Alexander Bagwell is an American Professional Wrestler best known by his ring persona Buff Bagwell. He was a major player in pro wrestling and rose to prominence as a member of the NWO faction.

Growing up, Bagwell was a standout baseball player during his tenure in Sprayberry High School, and worked for his family's lumber company. Upon graduating from high school, he started an amateur boxing career. When the lumber company went bankrupt, Bagwell became a certified massage therapist before deciding to become a wrestler.

He debuted in 1990, working for North Georgia Wrestling as Fabulous Fabian. In 1991, he began wrestling with the Global Wrestling Federation (GWF) as The Handsome Stranger, a gimmick suggested by Demolition Axe that saw Bagwell don a Lone Ranger-style mask, and hand out roses to the female fans.

In 1991, Bagwell was hired by World Championship Wrestling and the rest is history. He had moderate success as a babyface tag team wrestler, but really became a household name when he joined the NWO as Buff Bagwell.

In 2001, WCW was purchased by the WWE. Buff Bagwell was involved in the inaugural WCW "invasion" match. A match that is widely considered a failure. He was released and never returned to the WWE.

He worked several independent dates thereafter, but also struggled with addiction. His demons continued to haunt him through several stints in rehab. His life took a major turn when he was involved in a significant car crash. He has since turned his life around and is 21 months sober.

Johnny George grew up in Del Paso Heights in Sacramento, California. Del Paso Heights is considered one of the roughest areas in the Sacramento area. He grew up with a step father who took him in as if he was his own. He was not considered a step father, he was just dad.

Unfortunately, addiction caught hold of Johnny's dad, and that addiction manifested in violent and unhealthy ways. At the age of 12, Johnny witnessed his father take his own life. This event would change the course of Johnny's life.

After this event, Johnny would have difficulties of his own. In later years Johnny would reflect and realize that a lot of his own difficulties stemmed from not being able to process that event. He would struggle through school, but eventually would begin to forge a life of his own.

As he grew, he took on a family of his own. He did not have any biological children of his own, but assumed a fatherly role over the daughters of a significant other. He would assume this role while these kids were young, but he would continue his relationship with them as they grew to be adults. Again, he was not a step father, as he learned from his father, he was just dad.

Unfortunately, one of his daughters would leave the home one night, and never return. In the days to come, he would learn that his daughter was murdered and left in her burning car near the river. The murderers have never been caught, and the case is still pending.

Bryan Rodda is a husband, father of 3 children, consultant and stand up comedian based in Carmel, Indiana. He is the 4th of 6 children and has lived all over the country.

Bryan grew up in Sacramento California where he became close friends with host Josh Edlow and their mutual friend Chris Johnson. The three grew up together until 1996 when Bryan's family moved to Indiana. Bryan kept in close contact with Josh and Chris throughout the years, but their lives took interesting turns.

Moving to Indiana was difficult for Bryan. First, he was struggling with the diagnosis of ADHD, a relatively new diagnosis in the 90s. People in his new orbit were not used to dealing with his high energy, which led to some serious struggles. Nevertheless, he continued to persevere and eventually moved to Arizona with his brother right after graduation.

Brian "Blue Meanie" Heffron is an American Professional Wrestler. He is best known for his time with Extreme Championship Wrestling and the World Wrestling Federation. His ring name is a reference to the Blue Meanies, the antagonists from the 1968 animated film Yellow Submarine.

Heffron grew up in the New Jersey, Philadelphia and Atlantic City area. Growing up he had a host of health issue due to asthma, which led to several hospitalizations throughout his young life. This led to his missing school and an inability to participate in several sports. These issues, accompanied by his being overweight, led to bullying throughout his school career.

Heffron grew up with a single mother, but was also raised by his grandparents. They were all incredibly supportive of all his dreams, including his desire to become a professional wrestler. After high school, Heffron saved up enough money to move to Ohio and join Al Snow's Bodyslammers Pro Wrestling Gym. Snow took him under his wing and slowly but surely, Heffron got several bookings.

One day, a wrestler named Raven noticed Heffron and asked him to become a sidekick in the infamous ECW Wrestling promotion, and the rest is history.

Betty J. Kovacs Ph. D. is a professor, author and speaker who teaches about the prehistoric link between western religious culture and altered states of consciousness. Her extensive research of the shaman-mystic spiritual tradition reveals how western religion has covered up its mystic roots.

Dr. Kovacs received her Ph.D. from UC Irvine and taught Literature, Writing and Symbolic/Mythic Language for 25 years. Within a 3 year period, Dr. Kovacs experienced the deaths of her mother, son and husband in separate motor vehicle collision. After her retirement, she began an intensified period of research into our ancestors’ experience of a vaster consciousness, Cosmic/Christ Consciousness, which she relates in her new book, Merchants of Light: The Consciousness That Is Changing the World, winner of the Nautilus Silver Book Award and The Scientific & Medical Network 2019 Book Prize. Logan 'Lo Devereaux" Harris is an independent pro wrestler in the Northern California area. He currently trains at Next Level Pro Wrestling and wrestles all over the area.

Lo grew up all over the world, but spent most of his time in Northern California with his mother and grandparents.

Unfortunately, as he grew to his teenage years, he found himself getting into trouble. Soon thereafter, he was sent overseas to live with his father, who was in the military. As he grew older, the one thing that he knew he wanted to do was wrestle.

Lieutenant Colonel "Buzz" Patterson, United States Air Force (Retired), is a former Republican Congressional Candidate, CA-7; military combat pilot; distinguished White House military aide; bestselling author; popular conservative public speaker; and TV talk show host. From 1996 to 1998, Colonel Patterson was Military Aide to President Bill Clinton. During that time, he served at the right hand of President and Mrs. Hillary Clinton and was responsible for the President's Emergency Satchel, otherwise known as the "Nuclear Football," the black bag with the nation's nuclear capability that accompanies the president at all times. As such, Patterson had an office and a bedroom in the White House and accompanied the First Family at all times. In addition, Colonel Patterson was operational commander for all military units assigned to the White House, which included Air Force One, Marine One, Camp David, and the White House Transportation Agency. It was during these years that Colonel Patterson, disgusted and appalled with what he’d personally witnessed in the Clinton White House, developed his conservative vision.

Today, he believes in restoring our nation’s constitutional principles and returning our nation to its rightful place as the “shining city on a hill.” Among his many military commendations, Patterson received the Defense Superior Service Medal for accomplishments while at the White House and was awarded the Air Force Air Medal for flying combat support missions during the Bosnian War in 1994. He retired in 2001 to pursue a career as a writer, consultant and conservative speaker.

im "Laser" Starr is an American athlete, actor and producer. Under the stage name Laser, he was the team captain of the American Gladiators. He was also the longest running Gladiator, appearing on the show from 1989 to 1996.

Jim was born in Great Falls, Monstana. He played football in high school as well as Montana State University. He was an all state running back and holds the MSU single game record for tackles. He was drafted to the NFL and played football as a replacement player in 1987. A career ending injury ended his football aspirations.

In 1989 he was selected to appear on the American TV series, American Gladiators. He remained on the show for the entirety of it's original run. In the year 2000 he entered the corporate world with Apex Fitness and has had a successful post television career in the fitness industry.

Kaiyah Price is a 21 year old member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She recently returned home after serving for the last 18 months as a missionary in Chile.

Kaiyah was born and raised in the church. She is the oldest child in her family and so she feels some responsibility to set an example for her siblings. One area where she felt impressed to set that example is through missionary work.

She has planned on serving a mission since she received a special Patriarchal Blessing. In that blessing, she was told that serving a mission was part of God's plan for her. She never strayed from that course.

However, her mission presented several unique challenges for her. From learning the language, to sickness, to difficult companions, Kaiyah was presented struggles that allowed her to learn and grow. Some of these difficulties allowed her to look inward to ask God "what lack I yet?" Asking this question allowed her to understand the true meaning of service, the wonderfulness of God's grace and the importance of self worth.

Mary Beth O'Connor is a retired Federal Judge and attorney. She has written several opinion pieces and essays for the Wall Street Journal and L.A. Times. She is a speaker, advocate and author. She is also....a recovered meth addict.

Judge O'Connor's life started with childhood abuse and traumas. Beginning with alcohol at the age of 12, she spent several years abusing various drugs. By the age of 17, she was a full blown meth user. In college, she was able to contain her drug use to recreational use at parties until she was abducted and assaulted. She relapsed and continued heavy meth use until the age of 32.

By incorporating ideas from multiple sources to build a secular recovery plan, she has been sober since 1994. She used similar techniques to address trauma and anxiety as well. After 6 years of sobriety, she attended Berkeley Law school. She worked as an attorney continuously until 2014 when she was appointed a Federal Administrative Law Judge. She retired in 2020.

Judge O'Connor comes on the podcast to discuss her story, she speaks on trauma, sexual abuse, child abuse, PTSD, anxiety and the power to recover. This is an inspirational story that you cannot miss!

Lenny Dykstra is a retired professional baseball center fielder who played Major League Baseball for the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies. He was a three time all star and won a World Series with the 1986 Mets.

Lenny was born Leonard Kyle Leswick. His father abandoned his family when Lenny was 4 years old. His mother later married Dennis Dykstra, who adopted Lenny and his two brothers. He considers his step father to be his real father.

During school, Lenny began taking to baseball. During his senior year of high school he was batting .494. Dykstra was drafted in the 13th round largely due to his height. However, he quickly became a star in the minors. In 1985, Dykstra was called up to the big leagues when the teams starting center fielder, Mookie Wilson was injured. Dykstra's play and energy was a boos that surged the team to a major winning season. The following season he maintained the starting position and helped lead the team to a World Series.

After retirement, Dykstra continued success in business until the financial crisis in 2008. After that, things took a downward turn, he ended up serving some time in prison. Shortly before this interview, Dykstra had suffered a stroke. He had been released from the hospital two days prior to the interview, which is why his speech was slurred.

In addition to filmmaking, Kenny has a fascinating story of his own. Born to a Mormon family of democrats in the 80s, he felt a little out of place in most circles. As he progressed, significant childhood trauma caused mental health issues that would later manifest in significant and impactful ways. That, coupled with closeted bisexuality, caused him to feel further isolated.

Nevertheless, he pushed forward in faith, serving a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in England. It was there that his testimony was challenged greatly as the veracity of the church's truth claims came into question.

He returned home, married his wife Amber and pursued a career in film.

Lisa Marie Varon is a retired professional wrestler, fitness competitor and bodybuilder. She is best known for her tenure as "Victoria" in the WWE and "Tara" in Impact Wrestling. She captured both companies' women's championships on several occasions.

Lisa Marie was born in San Bernadino to a Puerto Rican father (a vietnam vet) and a Korean-born Turkish mother. She grew up with three older brothers all of whom were amateur wrestlers.

After high school, Lisa Marie became a personal trainer and began entering body building and fitness competitions. It was at a fitness competition that she met and befriended Torrie Wilson. Shortly thereafter she met Chyna. Both enouraged Lisa Marie to become a wrestler, and the rest is history.

Varon is considered a pioner of women's wrestling and one of the most instrumental figures in changing women's wrestling from eye candy to legitimate sports entertainment.

Brian Faulconer is a husband, a father of 4 children and an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Many who know Brian would look at him and think that he had a "standard" LDS upbringing. Brian and his sister were born while their parents were in their 30s. His father, a frenchman who served in the French Legion, was a convert to the church. His mother had "pioneer heritage" and was born and raised in the church. Both had been married before and carried some bad habits into their second marrriage.

Brian would grow up with both parents, and loved them both. However, he learned lessons of what to do and what NOT to do when he would find his own wife. While everything appeared good on the outside, several instances were less than ideal growing up.

Nevertheless, Brian grew through spiritual experiences, and learned at an early age to rely on God's influence in his life. He would serve a mission for the church, and shortly upon arriving home, fall in love with his wife. They now have four children and are growing together in a trying their best to live a gospel led life.

Brian comes on the podcast to tell his story. To discuss his views on spirituality, how to recognize spiritual promptings, dealing with communication in marriage, dealing with the mental health issues of others, and how he keeps his own mental health in proper alignment.

"The Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff is a retired Professional Wrestler, a born again Christian, creator of Koloff for Christ Ministries and Co-Founder of the "Man Up" conference which focuses on Men's ministry.

Nikita was born in the projects of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was the youngest of four children. Around fifth grade, his mother moved him to the suburbs where he became enamored with bodybuilding and football.

He would embark on a football career. His high school football team included numerous other future pro wrestlers including "Ravishing" Rick Rude, "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig, John Nord (The Berzerker), Barry Darsow (Ax of Demolition) and others.

One day his college football teammate Road Warrior Animal would call him and tell him about an opportunity in wrestling. Without any training, he would have his first match in front of thousands. Ivan Koloff would take him under his wing, teaching him on the job for the next four months. One year later he would be main evening the first Great American Bash against Ric Flair.

He never looked back to wrestling with the exception of helping several of his friends turn their lives around through Christian ministry. He now runs a camp with Lex Luger to help men become better husbands, fathers and community leaders.

Ari Lehman is an American composer, performing artist and actor. He is best known for playing the original Jason Voorhees in the classic Horror Film Friday the 13th. He currently is the lead singer of the horror punk rock band "First Jason."

A native New Yorker, Ari Lehman grew up in Westport, Connecticut, where he trained in Classical Music and Jazz Piano. Lehman was presented with an All-State Award for Excellence in Jazz Piano and a scholarship to Berklee School of Music by jazz educator, Dr. Billy Taylor.

Lehman heard about an audition being held in Westport for the movie, "Manny's Orphans", about a group of inner-city orphans who play soccer, directed by Sean S. Cunningham. Lehman snuck into the audition and landed the role of "Roger". This role led to Lehman getting the call to play Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th from Sean S. Cunningham. "For his audition Lehman was asked one key question by the director, ‘Can you swim?’"

After the release of Friday the 13th, Lehman returned to New York City, where he enrolled at New York University and concentrated on Big Band Orchestration and Jazz Piano, "where he studied with the likes of Vladimir Shafranov". Lehman's career led him to become a keyboardist for artists of Reggae and African music of the time, with whom he toured throughout the US, Europe and West Africa, and recorded with at Tuff Gong Records and Interscope Records.

In 2004, Lehman formed his punk metal band whose name, First Jason, is based upon his role as Jason Voorhees. First Jason has independently released two albums: Jason is Watching! (2009), with Chuck Lescewicz "Nefarious" from Chicago death metal band Macabre playing bass, and Amit Shamir "Cleaver" from New York hardcore punk band Cro-Mags on drums; and "Heed My Warning,"(2013), described by Uber Rock (UK) as "a brand of thinking man's horror-themed rock."

"Big MF" Matt Freeman is a Professional Wrestler, MMA fighter and boxer from the Central Valley in California. He is also the co host of Inside BJJ and the 209 Kliqcast.

Matt grew up in the Stockton, California in a very religious Pentecostal home. However, he describes his story as a typical Stockton upbringing, broken home, welfare and rough streets. This led to him getting into a lot of trouble in his teenage years and fights became a regular part of his life.

Regardless, his mother tried to keep him in church and school. He would often have to speak in front of the congregation and he learned that he had a gift for talking to people. That being said, he also suffered from dyslexia, which made school difficult. He would eventually drop out of high school as a result.

Matt George is a Sports television reporter/producer for ABC 10 in Sacramento. He is also the host of the Locked on Kings Podcast. His podcast brings daily episodes discussing the ins and outs of the Sacramento Kings.

CJ Boersma is a Mexican American professional wrestler born and raised in Stockton, California. He is known to wrestling fans as "The Suplexin' Rednexican" CJ Dirt.

CJ grew up with a large amount of extended family around him, which influenced him greatly. Early in life, CJ became a fan of professional wrestling. He and his friends would all talk about it together until one day, most of his friends had grown out of it. While others had moved on to the UFC, CJ still enjoyed the Pomp and Circumstance of the squared circle.

As he grew up, CJ began to start to enjoy "Redneck things." He started drinking in his mid teens, and continued to do so. He also began to grow his signature mullet as a homage to one of his favorite wrestlers Eddie Guerrero.

One day, CJ discovered a flyer for a local wrestling promotion call Pro Wrestling Bushido. There he learned that there were places to learn how to be a pro wrestler. He ended up in a Stockton barn owned by local MMA fighter Matt Freeman. There he and Matt trained under the tootledge of Vinnie Massaro. CJ and Matt would become incredibly close as friends and as tag team partners. They along with Michael Sean, formed a successful wrestling faction named the "209 Crew." He is one of the most charismatic and sought after wrestlers in the Northern California community.

CJ comes on the podcast to share his story. He discusses his wrestling influences, his love of live theater, what it means to be a "redneck," the 209 Crew, heat with certain promotions, growing up in Stockton and much more.

David R. Wilcox is the former Director of Security for the Christian Broadcasting Network. He was the key bodyguard for Christian Televangelist and eventual Presidential Candidate Pat Robertson.

Mr. Wilcox spent several years with controversial figure during the formative years of what is now coined as the "Christian Coalition." Now retired, Mr. Wilcox has written two books detailing his time with the Network.

Deanne Salinger, known professionally as "Air Force Amy" is an American Legal Prostitute, model and reality TV star. MSNBC has called her "a living legend in the world of sex."

Amy grew up in rural Ohio. She was abused her entire childhood, leading her to run away at the age of 13. In order to cope, she would prostitute for rides at truck stops around the country. At the age of 18, she joined the Air Force as a way to get out of the lifestyle. Three months prior to being discharged from the military, she applied at a nearby brothel in Nevada, and has worked as a legal prostitute ever since.

She is most famous for being featured in the HBO documentaries highlighting Dennis Hof's Moonlight Bunny Ranch in Nevada. She was labeled on the series as the "all-time top earner" and "master of the game." According to the New York Times, Air Force earned between $10,000 and $50,000 a month in 2003.

Amy comes on the podcast to discuss her childhood trauma which led to this lifestyle, her time in the Air Force, and her work in the sex trade. She answers many questions including, what is it like in a brothel? Would you recommend the trade to women? Abuses? What has changed in the clientel over the last 30 years? Ken Shamrock is an inaugural UFC Hall of Famer and former WWE champion. He is widely considered a forefather of Mixed Martial Arts and a pinnacle of the famous "attitude era" of the WWE.

To say Ken had a tough childhood is an understatement. His father abandoned their family when he was 5. His mother married an army aviator who moved them to Napa California. There Ken and his brothers were outsiders and were bullied. This led to troublemaking and drug use. At 13 he was kicked out of his home and was left to fend for himself.

Luckily Ken found himself at Bob Shamrock's boys home. There he found his voice through youth sports programs and turned his life around. The Shamrocks adopted Ken as a teenager.

Dr. Dana Anderson, Psy.D. is a Forensic Psychologist, True Crime Consultant and Court-Appointed Expert Witness. She provides comprehensive psycho-legal evaluations within the court system.

Dr. Anderson grew up in a very difficult household where she saw very serious abuse. These situations led to her being able to stay very calm in extreme situations. She had several situations where people would freeze up or be scared for their lives. She has used these experiences to help her better enter dangerous situations while psychologically assessing some of the country's most dangerous criminals.

She now interviews, studies and assesses criminals including murderers and sex abusers. She also provides assessments for those with Anti-Social behaviors, including psychopathic tendencies, schizophrenic and narcissists.

Jake "the Snake" Roberts is an American professional wrestler and actor currently signed to All Elite Wrestling as a manager and special advisor to AEW's outreach program. He is also concurrently under a WWE Legends contract. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014 and the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2020.

His story has been highlighted in several documentaries including Beyond the Mat, Pick Your Poison and the Resurrection of Jake the Snake. He is considered an iconic figure for his dark persona and for bringing snakes to the ring with him during matches.

Over the course of his career, due to wrestling injuries and childhood trauma, Jake became addicted to both prescription and illicit drugs. His issues with addiction would become a major hurdle to his career, his relationships with his family and his health. He was considered a lost cause until he moved in with his good friend Diamond Dallas Page. There, for three years, DDP worked with Roberts through rehab and DDP Yoga to give Jake his life back. He is now sober and has repaired several relationships. There is still work to do, but he finally has a positive outlook on life.

Jake comes on the podcast to discuss his childhood trauma, which led to his career choice, his addiction issues and sobriety, the work it took to repair his relationships, his views on pro wrestling psychology and promos, and so much more.

Paige Cleek is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She is also a mother of 2 small children, a certified prenatal genetic counselor and a former multiple time beauty pageant winner.

Paige grew up in the Citrus Heights area with her single mother. Luckily she also had a large extended family unit consisting of grandparents, aunts and uncles who also assisted in her development. While young, childhood trauma resulted in her having to work through selective mutism. She was incredibly shy, until one day, she discovered the beauty pageant circuit.

Her work in pageants helped her build confidence through her teenage years.

Paige attended BYU Hawaii and found an interest in genetics. However, her time in college was not without difficulty. She struggled at times due to difficulties with others, including a bishop that she did not see eye to eye with. Regardless, she maintained her faith and was able to finish school.

Upon her return, she met her husband, a Sheriff's deputy. They hit is off and we're married. He recently left law enforcement due to the stresses and difficulties his job placed on their young family. He now works and sales while Paige works as a prenatal genetic counselor for UC Davis.

Paige comes on the podcast to share her story, her work in beauty pageants, her faith, challenges and how she overcame them, marriage to a law enforcement officer and being a Mormon working mother.

Al Snow is an American professional wrestler. He has owned Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) since 2018. He and his promotion were recently featured in the popular Netflix docuseries "Wrestlers."

Snow made his professional wrestling debut in 1982. He worked several independent promotions throughout the 80s and 90s until he was signed by the WWE. He used several gimmicks until he read a book about "abnormal psychology" and finding a mannequin head outside of the ECW arena in Philadelphia. It was there that his valet "Head" was born. He would see incredible success, including multiple title reigns in the WWE.

Later, Al Snow would be used by WWE developmental as a trainer, including a stint for WWE's Tough Enough on MTV. Since that time, he is widely considered one of the best wrestling trainers in the world.

In 2018, Snow would purchase Ohio Valley Wrestling (a former WWE Developmental territory). It is the only independent wrestling promotion in the country that runs a live weekly television show and monthly Pay Per View. Snow and OVW were also featured in the critically acclaimed Netflix docuseries, Wrestlers.

Tom Arnold is an American actor and comedian. He is best known for his roles in the hit TV show Roseanne and feature films True Lies and Nine Months.

Tom was born in Iowa to young parents. His mother abandoned him and his two siblings when he was a child, leaving him to be raised by his father.

In his teens, Tom and his sister Lori moved in with their mother. Lori (with her mother's consent) married at 14 to a 22 year old man and became one of the most prolific drug dealers in the midwest.

Tom escaped that fate by working at the same meatpacking plant that his grandfather worked. He worked there 3 years until he raised enough money to attend the University of Iowa where he studied business and writing. His dream was to become a famous comedian.

In the early 80s, Tom was hired by Roseanne Barr to work as a writer on her tv show. They fell in love and were married. They later had a very contentious and public divorce in 1994. He feared that Roseanne would make sure he never worked again, until he sat for a role in James Cameron's True Lies. He played as a supporting actor for Arnold Schwarzenegger and the two became life long friends. He has since had several successful projects in TV and comedy, including a hilarious segment on the roast of Roseanne.

Dave Dutra is an Independent Professional Wrestler who started in the backyard and ended up in the spotlight.

A bay area native, Dave fell in love with wrestling as a young boy while spending weekends with his dad. As a teenager, he and his friends created a backyard wrestling group that would eventually rent time using the famous All Pro Wrestling "garage" for their shows. There he met Michael Modest and Vito Tomaselli. These two would become integral in starting his pro wrestling career at Pro Wrestling Iron.

Unfortunately, his time at Iron was short lived, and Dave eventually ended up finishing his training at All Pro Wrestling. He embarked on his career while also marrying his high school sweetheart Melissa along the way. They eventually made their way to Sacramento where Dave got his first opportunity to be a main eventer for SWF Wrestling. There he learned and grew as a professional, which catapulted him to the top of the card as a top draw in the area.

Since that time, Dave has worked for nearly every major company in pro wrestling, including WWE and All Elite Wrestling. He has appeared on WWE Raw, WWE Smackdown and AEW Dark. He has wrestled some of the biggest names in wrestling and even shared the screen with the Rock while working as an extra for the WWE. He continues to wrestle on the independent circuit.

Robert Schafer is an American character actor who has over 100 SAG credits for appearances in film, television and commercials. Mike Petterborg is a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. However, he has not always been active, in fact quite the contrary. For 30 years he was a self described addict who enjoyed a biker lifestyle.

Mike grew up in Idaho Falls in Idaho with his parents. He stayed active in the church through high school, but a strained relationship with his father coupled with friends encouraging rebellious habits, drew him away from the gospel. He eventually joined the armed forces, which gave him a sense of belonging, but also drew him away from the church. He eventually joined a group of bikers, some of which were affiliated with the Hells Angels. He grew farther and farther into addiction, which also effected several relationships.

Hear the rest of the story. Hear how a family member invited him to attend church one week and that led to him coming back to the gospel, gaining a testimony, reconciling his past relationships, repentance and restoration.

This is nothing short of a modern day prodigal son story.

Santino Marella (real name Anthony Carelli) is a Canadian born pro wrestler and Judoku. He is currently signed to TNA Wrestling, but he is best known for his 11 year career in the WWE.

He is also the founder and head instructor for Battle Arts Academy, a martial arts and pro wrestling training facility in Canada.

In his youth, Anthony was an accomplished judo champion. When he was signed to the WWE in 2005 he imagined that his style would mirror his real life persona. However, he was assigned the character Santino Marella, an Italian stereotype, and found himself in several comedic segments. His comedy got over with the crowd and he quickly became one of the most popular acts in the WWE.

However, with his success also came some sacrifices, particularly time away from his daughter Bianca. He hated leaving to train and travel, but he believed that his success in wrestling would lead to a better life for her.

Now Bianca is also signed to the WWE. She and her father now share in the same legacy.

Sandy Phillips Kirkham is a wife, mother and grandmother. At age 16, she was victimized by a charismatic youth pastor who lured her into an abusive 5 year relationship. From their very first meeting, the new youth minister slowly and methodically turned the sacred relationship of a trusted spiritual leader to one of abuse: sexual, emotional, and physical.

When his actions were discovered, he was simply moved to another church, leaving Sandy to pay for his deeds. She was not his first victim, nor would she be his last. The trauma of the occurrence resulted in her feeling broken, betrayed and shamed.

Sandy successfully concealed her abuse for twenty-seven years until a trigger forced her to face the truth. Today she is an advocate for victims of "clergy abuse." She currently serves on the board of Council Against Child Abuse. She has appeared on several television stations, panels and podcasts to share her advocacy.

Ramina Wilkerson is an Assyrian Christian from Iraq who works as a motivational speaker, life coach and author who currently lives in Idaho with her husband and two children.

Her Memoir "Walking in the Shadow" details her harrowing experience as an Assyrian Christian child in war told Iraq.

Growing up during the Iraq-Iran War and Operation Desert Storm, her family was constantly marginalized. As a 4 year old child, she recalls often being woken up to take cover during missile strikes.

As she grew older, Saddam Hussein's dictatorship grew more brutal. She witnessed several atrocities, including murder, torture of those accused of speaking ill of the regime and children as young as 13 being "drafted" into the war.

Her family was ultimately rescued by American soldiers in 1992 one week after Saddam Hussein ordered her family's death sentence.

Ricky Morton is a WWE Hall of Famer. He is best known for being one half of the famous tag team "The Rock N Roll Express" and his singles run against Ric Flair.

Ricky Morton was born into a wrestling family. Growing up in Nashville Tennessee, his father and cousin worked in the wrestling business. He was trained by his father and quickly garnered success as a "teen idol" due to his good looks and spiky blonde hair. He also became a master of "selling" pain to garner heat in wrestling matches.

A few years later, Ricky was paired with fellow wrestler Robert Gibson as the Rock N Roll Express. The team garnered national exposure due to their high profile feuds with the Midnight Express and the Four Horsemen. They traveled the world wrestling for many promotions, including WCW and the WWE.

Today, Ricky is still involved in the wrestling business. He trains wrestlers, provides seminars to independent wrestlers and also works with his son Kerry, who has followed in his father's footsteps.

Elliot Prestwich is the Executive Director of a Venue Management Company that promotes live music and comedy events all over the Western States. He is the Director of Operations for the Egyptian Theater in Boise Idaho and the Executive Director of the Crest Theater in Sacramento, California.

Elliot grew up in the Sacramento area as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He joined Josh Edlow in a backyard wrestling promotion. He also became heavily interested in Mixed Martial Arts.

As he grew up, Elliot fell away from the church, but remained friends with several of his high school church friends, including Seth Fengel. Seth, had many physical ailments which led to a shortened life span. However, they remained friends throughout their teens and into their 20s.

Elliot married at a young age in his 20s, but eventually, the marriage ended, leaving Elliot alone to find his way. He and Seth made promises to each other that they would both start going back to church. Shortly thereafter, Seth passed away. Elliot decided that he would keep his promise to his friend, and has remained active in the church.

Soon, he would take voice lessons to help boost his performing career. Those lessons would be taught by an opera singer who would eventually become his wife. They are now married in the temple and have four children together.

Melissa Hansen is a former member of a fundamentalist Mormon sect known as the Davis County Cooperative Society (the Kingston Group). Born and raised in the group, Melissa was one of 12 children. During her time within the sect, she saw several plural marriages, including underaged girls married as plural wives to adult men in their 30s and even into their 70s.

At the age of 19, Melissa was married to her husband after he was directed by God to marry her. Prior to their marriage, she was clear that she did not want to be in a polygamist marriage, one week later God directed him to find a second wife, despite her protests.

Several years later, after questioning the teachings of the church, and after several instances of abuse, Melissa decided to escape the church with her four children by entering a safe house for several months. She now lives outside of the Cooperative. Her ex-husband and many of her relatives are still active within the Polygamist sect.

Melissa comes on the podcast to discuss her story, the inner workings of the sect, seeing her sister married to a 36 year old man at 14, life within the sect, abuses amongst wives, escaping with her children, co-parenting with an ex still practicing within the group, figuring out her moral system once out of the sect and so much more.

Debbie Evers is a wife, mother, and hairstylist. She is also a lifelong member and returned sister missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Debbie grew up in the Citrus Heights area and attended the same high school where her father taught spanish. The youngest of 7 children, Debbie remembers that the entire family worked together to make ends meet. She learned a lot from her parents about love, the importance of family and most of all self-reliance.

After high school she ultimately decided to go to beauty school to learn how to become a hairdresser. She fell in love with the industry and excelled. As her career and her social life flourished, she had another desire, to serve a full time mission.

On her mission, Debbie had several significant spiritual experiences that have galvanized her faith. She also learned more about empathy and to afford everyone Christlike love. She came home after 18 months as a new person and resumed her career as a hairstylist with a new outlook.

Since then, she and her husband Kevin have raised three daughters. She has also continued her career, where she not only helps people look nice, but also hears their stories, their troubles and their desires. She is able to be a listening ear and friend to many through her work.

"Big Ugly" JD Bishop is widely considered as the Godfather of Pro Wrestling in Sacramento. He is one of the most influential trainers and Pro Wrestlers in NorCal Wrestling History.

Alpha Zo is an Independent Professional Wrestler born in Oakland and currently based out of Stockton, California.

Early in life Zo moved from Oakland to Stockton and lived with his Grandparents. It was here that he fell in love with several different art forms, from dancing to theater, to martial arts and of course wrestling. In Zo's teenage years he would join a dance group and begin performing in theater performances, including a role in a local production of West Side Story. He soon began studying different martial arts, including Muay Thai and Boxing before ultimately beginning his training as a pro wrestler.

Shortly after debuting (and a short stint as Little Big E) he would meet D-Dre Fresh. They would instantly click and form "the World's Freshest Tag Team." The team was an instant hit, and Zo was able to use this platform to highlight his fun, party, dance themed personality for fans. The team quickly became one of the premier acts on the California Indy scene.

Shortly thereafter, COVID hit, which brought everything to a halt. Additionally, shortly after COVID lockdowns began, the love of his life left him without warning. He would turn to alcohol to cope with the loss and gained significant weight as he sunk deeper into situational depression.

However, Princeton and his siblings felt as though they were supported and had everything they needed. He attributes this to his parents teaching him about God and prayer.

Despite this foundation, his life was not without hardship. He struggled with pornography addiction at an early age. A struggle he continues to deal with. He also has dealt with varying degrees of depression and anxiety.

In his early 20s he felt inspired to preach. He describes himself as a modern day Jonah because he avoided this inspiration for years. Finally, a spiritual experience changed his life and he accepted his call. Once he did, the stresses he once had, disappeared.

He is now the head minister at Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church.

Through the 209 Crew and Next Level Pro Wrestling, he became an independent wrestling announcer. He provides ring announcing services for many promotions in the Northern and Central California area.

Randy Hochderffer is a life-long pro wrestling fan who recently discovered the world of Northern California Independent Wrestling. Raised in Fresno, he has loved watching pro wrestling since Hulk Hogan wrestled the Ultimate Warrior at Wrestlemania 6.

As for many, his wrestling fandom in those days was closeted. Many made fun of him for his love of "fake wrestling." However, wrestling gave him an escape from a life riddled with family difficulties. Born with a birth defect that effected his ribs, lungs and right arm, he faced a lot of ridicule from schoolmates. That coupled with abandonment, abuse and trauma from his parents, led to severe mental health issues that effected relationships. As trust issues continued to develop, Randy fell into addiction, which caused significant problems in his young adult life. He felt trapped, abandoned and alone. Taylor "El Chupacabra" Correa is an independent professional wrestler based out of Reno Nevada.

However, his journey through wrestling did not start with a boyhood dream. It started with a girlfriend who loved wrestling first. That girlfriend would later become his wife, but long before that, she issued him a challenge that would lead him to the independent scene.

He started wrestling in his backyard in his teenage years until he met Roland Alexander at the "APW Garage." Three years ago a judge gave him a chance to change his life or risk jail. At that point, the child star found rock bottom and became determined to turn his life around.

He is now three years sober, working as a mentor for others in recovery and performing stand up comedy shows. In 2022, he returned to Hollywood and appeared in the film Jesus Revolution, his first role in 14 years.

Abdullah (born Larry Shreve) was born in 1941 to a family of 10 in an impoverished household. He learned karate and judo in his youth and eventually earned a seventh degree blackbelt. However, due to a learning disability, he was unable to learn how to read or write and ended up leaving traditional school in the 2nd grade. He ended up in special trade schools until he broke into the wrestling business at the age of 17.

Abdullah quickly became one of the most feared rule breakers in wrestling when he broke a chair over Gino Brito's head and then beat him senseless with the leg. He was one of the biggest special attractions in wrestling, traveling the world to face the likes of Hulk Hogan and Giant Baba in Japan, Andre the Giant in Puerto Rico and Bruiser Brody all over the world.

One of Abdullah's most infamous fueds came when he and Cactus Jack (Mick Foley) challenged Sting in WCW. The feud would culminate in one of the most talked about (and ridiculous) spectacles of all time, the "Chamber of Horrors" cage match. The match ended when Abdullah was "electrocuted" in the middle of the ring.

Matthew L. Harris is Professor of History and Director of Legal Studies at Colorado State University-Pueblo. He received a B.A. and M.A. in history from Brigham Young University and an M.Phil. and Ph.D., also in history, from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.

Much of Harris’s teaching and scholarship explores the intersectionality of religion and law, race and religion, civil rights, and right-wing extremism, particularly among religious groups. Later the truth about his wife’s affair came to light, and Rafael’s version of events proved to be true, but only after he had already served 14 months in jail.

His time in jail proved to be life changing. He was determined to make changes, focus on the positive, and follow his passion for fitness, health, sports entertainment and his family. This has led to many successes as a personal trainer and a phenomenal rookie year as “the Godfather of Swole” in professional wrestling. That being said, his crowning achievement has been recently reuniting with his oldest son who he hasn’t seen since 2017.

nthony “Riv” Rivera is a military veteran who served in the Iraq war during the War on Terror. After returning from the war, he began training as a professional wrestler.

As the years progressed, mental health issues stemming from his time in war began to manifest. He turned to drugs and a party lifestyle to try and cope with PTSD as well as significant self loathing. He continued in a downward spiral until he found himself in jail. His rock bottom.

Sonny Smith is a 28 year old man who is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He has also dealt with Gender Dysphoria his entire life. For as long as he could remember, he felt as though he should have been born a woman.

As a young child in primary he gained a testimony that Jesus Christ was his savior and that the Book of Mormon was the word of God. However as he grew older he felt that his gender identity would soon clash with his faith.

Johnny “Butabi” Martin is a former baseball prospect, school sports coach and independent professional wrestler from Central California.

As a 7th grader, John Martin was called up from his middle school baseball team to play with the high school varisty team. He was a major prospect, and by freshman year, talks of the big leagues were already happening.

His whole life changed when a woodshop accident left him with crushed fingers on his throwing hand, leaving him an amputee. He spent time in the hospital as everyone told him things would be different.

Staring at all of his dreams crushed with his lost fingers, he fell into a depression…until one day he read a letter from a friend saying how sorry she was that his life was ruined…caused him to snap out of it. That day, he changed his mindset. He said to himself “this isn’t over.” That day he developed a saying that he uses to this day. “The story only ends one way.”

Dark Sheik is a Muslim Trans-woman who wrestles professionally and owns and operates the Oakland based entertainment promotion known as Hoodslam. She has grown her counter culture wrestling show from a small warehouse in front of 30 people into consistently drawing thousands in large venues across the Bay Area.

Sheik comes on the Edlow podcast to tell her story. She shares her background of losing her mom at the age of 9, moving to Oakland with her father and brother, and her immediate love for pro wrestling.

The team debuted in 2006 and rose to immediate stardom. Albert Ochoa is a social media influencer turned Celebrity Boxer. He rose to prominence after Kylie Jenner slid into his DMs and later attended his junior prom. Amini, an Iranian Kurdish woman died after being detained by Iranian forces known as the “morality police.” Eye witness accounts suggest that she was brutally beaten while in custody. Her alleged crime? “Improper Hijab.”

Dr. Razavi and Professor Hertzoff join the Edlow podcast to discuss the allegations themselves, the history of human rights violations in Iran (particularly against women), issues stemming from the 1979 Iranian Revolution, the danger in Iran’s shutting down the internet, similarities to allegations of police brutality in America and how these protests differ from past protests.
