Alexis & Haziq

Welcome to On That Note. This podcast is for anyone who “dances across disciplines”, whether you're a designer, architect, or simply someone who is passionate about the creative process.

In this season, we ask guests who have also “danced across disciplines”, asking them where they are now, how they got there and where they want to go.

Whether you're just starting out in your career or you're a seasoned professional, we hope you'll join us on this journey as we explore the ever-evolving landscape of creativity.

Estudio ESSE is Europe-based architecture, design and research studio ran by Ecaterina Stefanescu and Sam Eadington. Operating across multiple cities and towns, the studio is concerned with how ideas engage with the world. We had such a fantastic conversation talking about the importance of ‘making’ in creative work, how class and money affects design, and how failure can be used as currency in academia.

Tune in to understand their views on the responsibilities we have as designers, and how their project in Spain led to multiple encounters with the police!

Sam and Nadhrah, the duo behind No-To-Scale join us for our third episode of Season 2. The conversation stretched over four different time zones but the hour we chatted felt like it passed by in a minute. No-To-Scale is an art and spatial agency, operating at the intersection of architecture, design, art, culture, politics and technology. We had so much fun talking to them about their journey, how they define their work with intention, and the unexpected joy of creating space for others to shine following their recent show, The Night Journey, which they did in collaboration with SuperCodex and Gangsapura. We also heard about their ambition to break onto the global stage as a practice that operates across multiple disciplines.

Annie Lye joins us for our second episode of Season 2. Annie is a multipotentialite creative from Hong Kong, now based in London, and works across photography, design and market research. We talk about how Annie was “born into architecture” but was told “don’t practice architecture” by her mother, an architect herself! Annie took that advice and explored how creativity can be an act of addition, and how she has developed a curious magpie-like behaviour.
