Horses with all the buttons are fancy and look easy to ride, however, that isn't the case, it takes a much more advance, balanced rider to know how to properly use all those buttons.
The same with green horses, one can easily create more problems if they lack experience.

What is woke horsemanship? By definition, it is someone who is more culturally sensitive. This is now being applied to horsemanship. So essentially it is someone who is more sensitive to the horse's emotions and worries about its threshold, not pushing them to an uncomfortable state.
What are my thoughts? Better have a listen!
Nothing really can prepare you for a scheduled equine surgery let alone an emergency one.
Recently I had to deal with just that, so I want to share with you my experiences and tips on dealing with and overcoming stress.
Today's episode is about how to use negative reinforcement in a positive way. And how we can continue building up the horse industry so it doesn't fall short of ethical standards.
After some disagreements with my last podcast on this matter, I decided to redo the episode. It is a very uncomfortable situation and topic, but I think it is very important to look at the bigger picture in the world of horse training.
Take a listen and let us know your throughts.
In this episode, we will discuss the negative effects of what lots call the Facebook mod regarding the horse abuse inflicted by Solstice Pecile and how I got dragged in and accused of trying to cover it up.

In this episode, we will discuss starting horses and whether you have the right person to do the job. The beginning stages of starting a horse are very crucial, this is true for the Harmony Horsemanship Team right now as we have three different horses in for starting.

Do you get frustrated with your horse and resort to blaming them for the issues you might be having?
In the rare case, it might be your horse's fault, but in most cases, it's probably the rider's. We have to take more responsibility while working with our horses and acknowledge when we are the problem.
Have you dreamed of travelling with your horse for a competition or event but worried about all the details, the travelling, the stress, etc? Well, I want to put your mind at ease and share my experiences and tips to make the process attainable for those eager to get out and travel with their horse.
In this episode, we are going to cover the negative effects of an overfaced horse. When a horse is overfaced, he can become reluctant to perform the work that is asked of him. You may notice that a horse being overly challenged starts to react to smaller tasks, like the simple act of walking on a loose rein.
Sharing my experiences and tips for training mustangs for the Mustang Tip Challenge, which can also be used for training any breed of horse and experience level.
In this episode, I will share my experience with a little mustang that had some issues while riding.
Was it simply the horse's personality, or was there pain associated with these issues? I will examine what I discovered and how to help this little mustang and its owner.
Join me in today's episode as I share the most eye-opening experience I've had to date. I was able to work with a Veterinarian and an Osteopath and was there to witness miracles in real-time.
Tune in, you won't want to miss this one.
When we think of a "sour" horse we think of ear pinning, biting at the girth, lack of cooperation, etc. But what some of us may not know is that most sour horses were once great horses, and in most cases, a human caused the horse to become sour.
When we treat horses all the same and don't understand them it can be easier to turn a good horse into a sour horse.
Listen to today's episode to hear what I mean,
How is your paddock for your horse's setup?
Paddock setup is very important, not having the right setup could cause your horse to become herd bound, overweight, or even more stressed.
I am going to share with you some tips on how to make sure your paddocks are set up in a way that is horse friendly and will ensure a happy and stress-free existence.

Have you ever passed on a nice horse because something came up on the x-rays you had your vet take?
Could you imagine passing on a horse and it goes on to be a high-level show horse?
Well, it happens more than one might think. So do you buy the horse for the attributes you initially wanted to purchase it for or back away because of something that shows up on x-rays?
Let's discuss how this happened to one horse in particular.
Gearing up for the 2022 Thoroughbred Makeover with my off-the-track thoroughbred King.
Things are getting pretty serious so tune in to hear where we are in our training and what you can expect from King at the 2022 Thoroughbred Makeover.
There are hundreds of different ways people like to start horses and all of them have parts that work and parts that don't.
Harmony Horsemanship takes a little different approach when starting horses. There are two exercises I do with all my horses that a lot of times others bypass. I have found these to help accelerate the training and set up the horse for success as we progress through our training.
Find out what exercises I use to start my horses.
How do you establish healthy boundaries with your horse?
Like with other humans, it is important to know what our boundaries are, how we can properly enforce them, and how to stay consistent in what we expect from others.
Well, with horses it's the same. To one person, a boundary could be they don't want to be rubbed on by their horse, but for someone else, they may not mind.
It's especially important to establish your boundaries early to ensure you and your horse will be on the same page throughout your training.
The same goes for your horse's boundaries, believe it or not, they can also set boundaries. What we have to learn is whether their behaviour is genuine in that they really don't like something or is it that they are just being stubborn or testing us.
Find out how I had to set boundaries with my two-year-old and find out how you can set some of your own.
In the episode, we are going to discuss the controversial video circling the internet involving the Equine Dentist Dr. Matt.
Dr. Matt has been my horse's dentist for many years and I was able to gain some insight into the situation from the assistant that was also present in the video.
Find what the assistant had to say and my thoughts on if Dr. Matt is a Good Dentist or a Bad Dentist.

With my background as a nurse and spending many years involved with people's mental health, I find this topic very interesting.
I have encountered a few different trainers and horse people who truly believe their horses developed or were born with some sort of neurological issue.
In this episode we will discuss this possibility and the signs that might give us some insight into this very interesting topic.
In today's world, the term cancel culture has been quite prominent. A recent event involving a 2-year-old incident surfaced showing the very talented rider and trainer Mark Todd repeatedly hitting a horse with a branch in one of his clinics. He has since been temporarily suspended from racing.
This episode will talk about cancel culture in the horse industry, how we can involve more of a horsemanship method into our training, and how much work we still have to do in our industry.
Do you agree or disagree with the cancel culture mentality and the consequences Mark Todd faced for his past actions?
Hold on tight because this is a good one!
It's foaling season!!
All the adorable little foals are starting to hit the ground running!
Unfortunately, foaling doesn't always go as planned. There are many issues that can arise this time of year and one very bizarre but relatively common issue is what's called a dummy foal.
Have a listen while I explain what a dummy foal is and how to deal with the situation.
Enjoy!
Buying a young horse can be fun, exciting and challenging. They will test you mentally and physically.
In this episode, I will share some of my own experiences training young horses, the pros and cons, and what to expect when working with them.
Do you have the courage, the drive and the speed to own a Thoroughbred or Arabian?
Those two breeds of horse tend to get a bad rap because they can be fast-footed, flighty, strong, anxious and FAST THINKING.
So the question is, are you fast enough to keep up with these fast-thinking creatures or will they leave you in their dust?

In this episode, we are going to discuss a study done on hay net height and the effect it has on the posture of the horse.
The study uses 6 healthy warmblood horses around 14 years. And were observed eating from three different feeding positions:
On the ground (the control position)
With their neck held about 15 degrees below withers height (the low hay net position at about knee level)
With their neck held about 15 degrees above withers height (the high hay net position).

In this episode, we are going to cover a recent study that was conducted by the Institute of Heart-Math, explaining how our hearts connect with horses and why horses have the power to calm us and bring us so much joy.
"Recent studies conducted by the Institute of Heart-Math provide a clue to explain the two-way ′′ healing ′′ that occurs when we're close to horses. According to researchers, the heart has an electromagnetic field larger than the brain: a magnetometer can measure the energy field of the heart that radiates from 2.4 meters to 3 meters around the human body. While this is certainly significant, perhaps more impressive than the electromagnetic field projected by the heart of a horse is five times larger than that of a human being (imagine an electromagnetic sphere around the horse) and it can influence straight into our own heart rate."
"Horses are also likely to have what science has identified as a ′′ coherent ′′ heart rate (heart rate pattern) that explains why we can ′′ feel better ′′ when we're close to them. Studies have found a coherent heart pattern or HRV to be a solid measure of well-being and consistent with emotional states of calm and joy that is, we exhibit such patterns when we feel positive emotions."
"A coherent heart pattern is indicative of a system that can recover and adapt to stressful situations very efficiently. Many times, we just need to be in the presence of horses to feel a sense of well-being and peace. In fact, research shows that people experience many physiological benefits by interacting with horses, including lower blood pressure and heart rate, higher beta-endorphins (neurotransmitters acting as pain suppressors), decreased stress levels, decreased feelings of anger, hostility, tension and anxiety, better social working; and greater feelings of empowerment, confidence, patience and self-efficacy."
