This week is National School Social Worker Week and we have the best group in the state who serve each of our campuses! We also discuss our One Act Play advancing and last weekend's North Texas Teen Book Festival was attended by 20 scholars from across AISD.
It was a busy start to the week with Indian Friend Reading Day at Lillian, STEAM Day at Region 11 and former athletic director Jeff Dixon receiving a leadership award from the Texas High School Coaches Association! We also discuss all-district basketball honors and regional qualifiers for girls powerlifting.
We had another great week full of VASE state qualifier, signing day for our scholar athletes and School Resource Officer Day! We also celebrate a fantastic week of athletic success! #AlvaradoExcellence
We started February by celebrating National School Counseling Week last week and this week starts with the 100th Day of School! Along with our All-State band scholars, we had educators at the TMEA conference presenting on the inclusion of our special education scholars into our fine arts programs!
Closing school doesn't necessarily mean having to make up days at the end of the school year! Also, great accomplishments from scholars in colorguard, JROTC and debate highlight this week's podcast!
We continue to honor our School Board during School Board Recognition Month! This week's Board meeting included presentations about the district's fantastic annual audit and plans for what will be happening at Lillian Elementary as it prepares to house PreK-5th graders beginning in fall 2024.
We wrap up the first semester with a few of the highlights from the fall and give an update on the bond projects that were passed in May!
We celebrate our fine arts department and the holiday programs they have been putting on, along with a new School Board member, educators continuing their education as they graduate with advanced degrees and a new residency program for education majors at Tarleton State University.
It was a busy start to a busy month with everything from fine arts to athletics to parades and academics!
Our fine arts department continues to shine with theater scholars advancing to the International Thespian Festival and the junior high band placing 45 scholars in the all-region band! The holidays are a time of giving and our campuses have certainly helped with canned food and monetary donations to local charities like Helping Hands and Santa's Helpers.
