I am such a fan of hers. I got to speak with her a little while ago now (what an opportunity) we do talk about her memoir and I guess from that point there are spoilers, but I do not think they will detract from your reading experience, but goodness if you haven't yet rad An Ocean and a Day, what are you waiting for?

Glamour, love, secrets and lies..what a novel this one is! I loved being able to chat with Belinda Alexandra about The Italian Correspondent, although I couldn't get to editing it as quickly as I would have liked..

But it was so fun listening to the chat, and I think you will love the novel too! I made sure no pesky spoilers snuck though so you don't have to have finished the novel before listening (although, gosh go go go)

The Italian Correspondent is our Wondering Women June Read, and I can't wait to chat all about this twisty plotty novel, loved it!

Could not have been more thrilled to have asked author Grace Rouvray for a podcast interview before doing my research! This memoir will fly so high, it does not need my endorsement! Grace couldn't have been lovelier to chat with me, and gosh I appreciated it! What a love letter to that 'wife' in your life that you chat everything in nothing calls and knows you need your cat to have the same last name as you..what a friendship.

I don't think I stopped smiling or giggling this whole conversation; which is ridiculous because this is such a thrilling thriller..George and Richie are back and there is a dead girl on the road..I once again found myself wishing George had packed more warm clothes but that didn't seem to have prevented me from laughing the whole way through this conversation. I just love Laura McCluskey, I couldn't have felt luckier to be able to chat with her again and am already looking forward to the next...

I love a cosy crime, I love historical fiction and I love love love a cosy historical crime involving real life people. I had been hoping to chat with Lainie Anderson since reading The Death of Dora Black and absolutely was over excited when I did get to speak to her in December. I couldn't even try to disguise how over excited I was, I was completely fangirling...

If you haven't read The Petticoat Police Mysteries you are so lucky, there are 2 to dive right into, they feature Australia's first policewoman in the British Empire employed on the same salary and with the same powers of arrest as men Kate Cocks and are so well done! I loved this novel; I love me a romance and I love love love when a romance can give me the feels as well as give me lots to think about... Home to the Heart Country was that for me. I adored my time in these pages

Having the opportunity to chat with Libby Iriks about her journey to publication and the love she has for these characters was just so special. Unfortunately it is a conversation that has been patiently waiting for me to edit and I am sorry for that, but because I had really forgotten lots of it I have a whole new appreciation for it, it was such an interesting one to edit hahaha. Libby shares so much of herself with us in this novel and to find out it took a decade from her head to my hands, I wasn't surprised; it's so special!

I couldn't have loved The Jam Maker more; wonderful story that I knew nothing at all about; for someone who made money with a scones I can't believe how little interest I had in jam! I loved getting to know every single character in this novel. Hearing more women's stories, and about lives that have fallen through the cracks is one of my favourite reading experiences..I could not have loved this one more.

To get to chat (and you had better believe I edited out so much chitchat!!) with Mary-Lou Stephens was the best; so generous and thoughtful..I just had the best time..and cannot wait for her next novel, it sounds fantastic!!!!

Jenny Pattrick is a new author to me, she is a best selling New Zealand known for her historical fiction..you can imagine I have finished recording with a more novels for my TBR. I loved Sea Change, it is a contemporary novel which really looks to what a community would do if they were to become isolated...turns out you really need a plumber!!! I loved this book, it was so engrossing and the chat I got to have with Jenny was fantastic (although I had to edit it twice and I am so sorry if the sound quality is still bad, I did my best, I blame her cute headset..)

I just loved this novel! An overlooked gang of tea ladies fighting crime and keeping the biscuits coming..what could be better!!!
There are three main plot points in The Tea Ladies and unfortunately Amanda and I do talk about one without thinking, so if that is a deal breaker for you don't listen to this episode until you're past the quarter mark of the novel
This is already slated as a wondering women read novel and I think it has Hissy Fic written all over it, it was a fantastic read, I'm so glad there is going to be more!!!

This debut novel came out at the start of 2023 and I, obviously  bought it straight away and then let it sit on my bedside table for ages! It's a cracker of a suspense (thanks to Jo I know know the difference between thriller and suspense!!) and when I did pick it up I couldn't put it down!!!! SO twisty!! SO great!!
The House of Now and Then was a fantastic read, and I was super excited to get to chat with Jo Dixon, so much so I didn't wind up the interview I chatted books until I got kicked out of zoom, and I have no regrets; Jo was just so lovely to chat with!

I just LOVE Averil Kenny, I'm a big fan of historical fiction and character based stories, throw in a tropical Far North Queensland setting and I will auto buy you from now on! I love Those Hamilton Sisters and The Girls of Lake Evelyn. Have you read them yet? Don't worry if you haven't, there aren't any spoilers in this conversation; it's just a lovely chat about her journey to writing, the process of her storytelling and a general chat about her books! I just can't wait to see the new covers for the B format; they sound magical!
So I really really recommend following Averil on insta, she is just such a rainbow and her day to day photos are so tropical! I've included the link here, you are welcome...

A thriller about a group of sisters getting revenge on their sisters' murderers? So a thriller I never thought I'd be brave enough to read; I would have thought this would have been a novel for people who just want more murderous details...but I could not put it down! This was so clever, so fast, such a statement on society; just such a great read!!!!! As a Sydneysider I loved seeing the streets and neighbourhoods, as a woman I think I really appreciated seeing these murders being avenged, as I reader I loved the short sharp chapters and characters of the support group.
To be able to chat with author Katherine Kovacic was just wonderful; such a delightful, interesting, intelligent, lovely person...Australian thriller authors are completely the opposite of what I ever would have expected; each one I get to chat to for the podcast is just the nicest!
Seven Sisters is definitely one we'll be chatting about within ReadA Book. I've started it off on ReadA Chat already and cannot wait to feature it as an Aussie Thrill Seeker novel, it's completely one to bookclub; too many spoilers to chat about here, and there is so much more to talk about than these seven sisters...SO much more...

I was absolutely beside myself going in to the conversation, and in the end I just got shamelessly overawed..such a lovely, generous author.

*This conversation does cover some graphic, serious, tragic fates of the Australian War Nurses***
I loved the latest novel by Anthea Hodgson, The War Nurses, it was completely heart wrenching and completely heart warming all at the same time. It's a read I certainly will not be forgetting in a hurry and one I feel I will carry with me onwards. Come Anzac Day this year I'll be thinking of the nurses as well as all our forces that serve. This novel has really made a huge impression on me.
I was honoured to have had the opportunity to zoom Anthea Hodgson, she was so fun and so chatty. It was an absolute blast, despite it being about such a  poignant, tragic part of our Australian history.
This will definitely be a hissy fic pic; I've even gone ahead and talked about it on the ReadA Chat, there is a lot to talk through, it's definitely a bookclub book

Love this novel, love the opportunity to have read it early and gotten to interview Josephine Moon about it! This wonderful novel is out today and I am completely celebrating the fact!
I loved Phoenix Rose, I loved being alongside her on her interstate adventure. I loved the opportunity to hang out with someone who identifies as being neurodivergent. It is a novel chock full of friendship, animals, lemons and sunflowers..
This is one I picture being talked about in ReadA Chat, there is so much here that I hadn't even thought about; it really isn't hard to have a kinder society that takes into consideration diversity.

I could be president of The Sandie Docker Fan Club. I love her novels- the small town communities, the intergenerational secrets and mysteries her novels all contain..The Redgum River Retreat is absolutely my new favourite, I loved the three generations of strong, brave females we meet within these pages. I loved learning more about the Australian WW2 Homefront. I loved the love of music that I could just feel, and the healing power of music that informs the Redgum River Retreat..this is a beautiful story, heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time!
Just a really rewarding read

I loved this novel,  it's a completely 'what if you wake up and no-one knows you' premise which turns out I am completely there for! I couldn't have loved this novel more. I knew the international rights and film rights had already been sold so when I asked if I could have an interview I was completely delighted that Michael Thompson had the time and want to chat! And I could have kept him on the zoom all day, what an interesting author! What a great road to published novel...
This novel has Wondering Women Read all over it, as well as it being a great TGIF Bookclub book..there is so much to think about and talk through with Tommy's annual reset, I loved every second of it! So if you like the sounds of this head on over to the website where you can join in the fun...

I love Steve Matthews, I could chat with him all day long, and did; this is another hasty OK bye ending...historical thrillers is a genre I don't normally read, but I am SO glad that I did. It really is edge of your seat reading and talk about a cliffhanger...it's great now that the trilogy is complete!!
In this ep we talk about all of Steve's books, his Hitler trilogy and Skinny Girl, we also do a fair bit of general chitchat about the strength of women and please rest assured I took out most of the giggling, I'm only human..any conversation with Steve would end in laughter, he's that type of person!

This creepy thrilling thriller was so far outside my wheel house I read the opening scene and didn't think I'd be able to read further...I am not an ibis lover at the best of times! But goodness, am I glad I did!! I love Ashley's writing ; I am a bit fan of How to Be Australian and My Name Is Revenge so I psyched up and goodness am I glad I did!!!
I was so lucky to chat with Ashley Kalagian Blunt about this novel last week, there is one spoiler in here which I think would have only been a spoiler for me; apparently no-one who has read more than 1 thriller would have been expecting what I was....
Hope you enjoy the conversation and appreciate I did cull a lot of giggling; for a book so creepy and scary we certainly did a fair bit of laughing...

I am a big fan of When Men Cry, I really do think everyone should read it. It tackles really important issues like toxic masculinity, asking and receiving help and the importance of mental health management but doesn't hit you over the head with 'issues' you are just reading along staying with the characters...I did also chat with Nick Wasiliev about his job at Booktopia which is now over, but still really interesting I think. This is the story of Margaret, who has been dead since 2014 and is revisiting the past, seemingly random events of her life...(not a spoiler, you know going in) I kind of expected to be reminded of Lovely Bones, but this is nothing like that!
I am so embarrassed I haven't read Frankenstein yet, but surely I'm not the only one so I have left in the explanation Paul gave me in this conversation. We definitely don't talk spoilers, but it  will really add to your experience of A Country of Eternal Light...you cant read everything...

What a treat it was to get to talk with Greg Woodland. I'm only really new to thrillers (too much of a baby) but I very much enjoyed The Night Whistler and was delighted to see a new novel set in the same town with Mick and Hal returning to solve another crime in Moorabool. This novel is just as creepy without causing you nightmares as the first. I really think it has such a strong sense of time and place, you know exactly where you are and are so caught up in these sudden deaths you are right beside the characters as they work out what has happened...thank you for listening!

This was a great conversation that I got to have with Stephanie Parkyn late last year. It was stupid of me not to release it until now. She is wonderful, interesting and so engaging. I loved this chat, I just got 'too busy'... ridiculous! I loved The Freedom of Birds, its a historical fiction that follows a group of storytellers as they travel through France, and what we know as Germany through the fall of Napoleon's empire... I found it captivating and couldn't put it down! Just loved it x

I hadn't been able to get my hands on a copy of Treasure and Dirt before I got to chat with Chris Hammer, but I have since read this thriller and OMG what a ride!!! It is such a great novel!! This is  quite an old conversation I had with Chris Hammer, I didn't think I could release it as a podcast because I hadn't read the novel, but he is just such an interesting author, it was silly not to x Chris Hammer is an incredible author and I was honoured to have had the opportunity to talk with him.

I didn't actually ask anything articulate, I spent the conversation completely in awe and TBH on the verge of tears. It's taken me way too long to even be able to listen back to it! Cringe doesn't go far enough x  Luckily Fiona McIntosh is such a wonder the conversation is still worthwhile and I know I left the part in there when I have to wrap it up because I am crying with joy, that's just so you know I did try my hardest to record the best episode!

Life got in the way, but I wont ever stop being grateful for the life that I have that got in the way xx This is a conversation I got to have with Rural Fiction author Fleur McDonald last year. I think I deleted out a million 'oh my goodness, thank you so muches...' I did and still do feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to speak with her, what a treat!

This was such a great conversation I was lucky enough to have with Mark Brandi recently. In it we talk all his novels- Wimmera, The Rip and The Others. I don't think there are any spoilers, just a great deal of gushing on my part; I am a huge fan. You can tell Mark Brandi is definitely interested in character and motivation, he does a wonderful job with people and the empathy is so apparent.
Thanks so much for listening x

He also spoke to me about his 2018 book- The Skinny Girl, the details 'Daisy's'  experience of domestic violence. This episode isn't explicate, but it does discuss Hitler and we do go into domestic violence quite deeply x

This was a wonderful conversation that I had with Karyn Sepulveda recently. I love her and her novels. My audio in this episode isn't great, I don't know if maybe I was holding the mic down too low or if Karyn's audio is just SO good, but something to work on for next time... I loved The Women's Circle. It is a really special novel all about second chances, female support and the importance of connection.

When I first read The Nancys in 2019 I was surprised at how much I enjoyed a crime novel.  I was captivated by the love I had for Tippy Chan as she investigates the murder of her teacher alongside her uncle and his partner. I was so excited to read the sequel when it was released earlier this year. This is a series that is just getting better and better. I completely loved all the Nancy Drew love and the town of Riverstone is one I was so happy to be back in. I was overjoyed and I'm afraid more than  a bit excited to speak with Rob...such a treat

Tabitha Bird is the author of A Lifetime Of Impossible Days and The Emporium Of Imagination. Both beautiful stories of magical realism that I have just loved. I think for me she'll always be one of those auto buy authors that you just know you are in safe hands with.  I was so glad to speak with her just recently (no more lags between conversations and episodes for me!) regarding her novels. Here is our chat xo

I just love Claudine, I just love her podcast Talking Aussie Books- I've been listening to it for years now. It has kept me company through many a walk and domestic chore.  I've always admired her interviews; her intelligence  and knowledge, they are just wonderful examples to me of how great a bookish podcast can be,
I've wanted to ask her about Talking Aussie Books for so long now, it was such an honour to speak with her about all things podcasting and authors!

I read The Funny About Norman Foreman right on lockdown 2.0 and it was the PERFECT antidote. It's the loveliest novel, full of hope and tenderness. I completely loved it and was beyond thrilled when Julietta Henderson let me interview her. Turns out, I still get super nervous...

This is the last of my interviews from last year. I'm obviously  SO embarrassed over the delay, and have well and truly learnt my lesson. Procrastination does not pay. Failure does not still well, nor is it a good look... I don't think you could find a bigger Maya Linnell fan, I love her rural romance novels, as well as her social media and general amazingness.  This chat concerns her 2020 release Bottlebrush Creek. I adore Tricia Stringer novels,  they're always so but interesting. I seem to always go in expecting not to have anything in common with the protagonist and end up really relating on so many levels to the story.  I just loved spending time with her chatting about The Family Inheritance, cannot wait for birds of a feather x

Gosh I loved this novel. It is abut grief and grieving, so it sounds silly to say that you loved the novel, but it is also full of community, and friendship, a cafe and food! There is so much to love within these pages. I can't wait for the next Around The World Supper Club installment!

I could easily be president of the Joanna Nell fanclub; I love her novels. They are always so insightful, so caring, so heartwarming and so sweet.  The Great Escape from Woodlands Nursing Home was certainly no exception. The story opens with our protagonist Hattie falling off a ladder attempting to protect a nest of rare owls.. she needs care and is installed at the monopoly themed Woodlands Nursing Home. It's here she meets fellow inmates Walter and Murray and the Great Escape is hatched. It is a gorgeous story and I am incredibly grateful I got to speak with Joanna Nell. I'm just sorry I took so long to produce it x

Cannot wait to see what she does next!
