Also on tap will be a look at "Encanto," "Derry Girls," the new "Eternals" movie and some thoughts on shows that will be having a second season sometime in 2022. Hosts John Baker and Ruth Reis return for this December 2021 episode of Beyond the Rim where they will do a deep dive on the new Psych movies on Peacock, "Psych: This is Gus." As long-time fans of this popular comedy, it's likely they'll wax on about scenes, characters and more from this new offering. And there it is, the season and series finale of The Outpost. When allt he dust had settled, The Six had been vanquished, Aster had sacrified himself, Talon, Zed and Garret were able to do their heroic best, and the Kahvi had a path to a new life thanks to the work of Wren, Janzo and Marvyn. After a season or more of fairly dark tidings and plenty of tension and loss, episode 413, "Nothing Lasts Forever," shines a light on the many good qualifies that this show has and gives us an ending on several high notes that the fandom probably expected, but nevertheless enjoyed. And in the end, Garret and Talon are united as one - not just in marriage, but as the king and queen of the realm, a realm that will include humans, Blackbloods and the Kahvi. Let's talk about the final episode, but more than that we will talk about the impact of The Outpost over its 49 episode run.
With Aster awakened and the rest of the "The Seven" seemingly headed toward The Outpost to engage the Skevikor, it's time to start thinking about the end game that may be coming for this story. With the news that The CW has determined that this will be the final season of the The Outpost, there are a lot of questions that need answering and only two episodes left to have them answered. Clearly, Aster has an affinity for the people who live within The Realm and the race is one to see who and what can overcome his six brothers and sisters before they lay waste to the land. As 313 starts to morph into Marvyn, one wonders if the Kahvi will play a central role in helping to stave off death and destruction in the coming episodes. We'll talk about episdoe 411 and the directorial deburt of Jake Stormoen, as well as a plethora of other things pertaining to The Outpost in this episode.
Another episode, another shocking death amongst our heroes at the Outpost. We'll talk about just went down during Tobin's rescue of Talon and how this show continues to throw curveballs at the fandom in this fourth season. The Masters now have five of the seven Kinjes, which makes the fates of Zed and Talon even more tenuous as we had towards the homestretch of the season. Episode 8 of the fourth season offered new discoveries, some interesting connections and plenty of questions that will need to be answered about the masters, the minion, the kinjes and the chance to save the realm from utter devastation. We'll talk Talon, Zed, Garret and the 313 connection with Janzo and Wren. All this and more.
A dissection of episode 407 of The Outpost will ensue, but there might be some very dire things to talk about. We'll look at not only what went down in this episode, but talk about the emotional toll the show is having on many characters, as well as the writers and showrunner's willingness to shock us each season. There's a lot to talk about in this episode as it provides a turning out for the rest of the season. We'll theorize and fantasize about our heroes from The Outpost.
With Tobin and Falista kneeling before the three "gods," we may at last find out if Falista's faith was justified or if they'll have to fight for their lives. In an episode with plenty of speculate on, the discovery of a hidden chamber beneath the Outpost, and the pods that contain living creatures that resemble the "gods," has left us wondering if the thousands of pods that seem to be in the chamber represent Skevikor as an awakening of these creatures, or something else? There is clearly a link between Blackbloods, The Gods, and the Kinj, but as yet we have only a nibble of information to go on as to what that might be. Luna proved herself useful again, and had a vulnerable moment, while Garret found himself placed in the "friend zone" by Talon when the pair departed after the rescue of Zed and Talon. Some strange goings-on in this episode and plenty to be talked about and theorized. Let's get to it.
We'll take a look at the goings-on of Ep. 3B05, "The Bleed Black Blood." Falista continues her made journey toward destruction and as this episode ends, she is dragging the other Kinj-bearers along for the ride toward the capital - summoned there by Vorta and Tera. Yes, things are starting to heat up at The Outpost and as the caravan rolls out, Wren and Janzo are left to try to discover a key that will unlock this strange device. All this while the cloud of Skevikor hangs over everyone to varying degrees. Garret has been jailed...again...as not to interfere with the trip. An interesting development we'll look into is that the "gods" do bleed black, which certainly makes Janzo more than a little curious about possible relationships between the gods and the Blackblood people. Yes, there was a lot to talk about in this episode as we head toward what feels like a showdown in the very near future.
In this month's episode of Beyond the Rim, hosts Ruth and John will talk about several trailers that have emerged in recent weeks, and their feeling about them. But first they will talk about the fast-approaching Rose City Comic Con, which has announced some new guests and programs. Clearly, their excitement will be palbable as they get into their CON feels. Also on tap will be some discussion about Dune, Jungle Cruise, Jolt, The Last Duel and the Green Knight. And more than likely plenty of side discussions about things going on in the entertainment world that should be interesting.
At last, we get a peek behind the curtain about what The Gods may be after -- total destruction. A key word was uttered and the complexity of The Three and The Seven is starting to find the light of day as Two is able to release Vorta from her crypt. Meanwhile, Falista has fully engaged in the faith-fueled rampage that she is starting to unleash at Gallwood Outpost. And hiding behind her new-found devotion to The Gods, she has started to hurt and attempt to kill some of her subjects. Tobin is struggling with what's happening to his wife and is able to enjoy a few moments of conniving with Garret in regards to the fate of Luna. All the while Zed, Wren and Talon are dealing with the realization that their civiliation has been decimated. There was a lot to digest in this episode and the show this season continues to offer tension and more than a little darkness. 'Skevikor' is the game that is now afoot. So the race is on to save the subjects of the Realm.'
Episode 3B03 certainly delivered some interesting twists, didn't it? In our weekly radio show, we'll take a look at the ever-changing dynamic that is Falista as queen of the realm and the subtle and sneaky way that Two, who seemed to be on the verge of becoming a non-entity, has engineered a resurgence to relevancy. In fact, it appears that Falista may be drinking from the same power-hungry chalice that The Three drink from. An interesting development right there. We'll also talk about the Blackblood situation and what the loss of nearly their whole culture might mean moving forward. Garret, now freed and the Outpost's gate marshal, uses his new position and freedom to sow the seeds of insurrection as he eyes removing Falista from the throne and removing Two's head from her shoulders. There was a lot going on this week and we'll talk about all of it this week on The Outpost Calling.
The second episode of The Outpost's fourth season packed a nice kick and delivered a fun little twist at the end. We'll take a look at what this episode brought and examine some of the decision-making that went on. There was more than a little naivete going on within the Outpost during the episode, with several characters aciing impulsively and without a thought to the bigger picture. We'll take a look at that and what it might mean, as well as the Tobin's swift retribution on Three and what it means for the power dynamics of The Three. In one decisive move, Tobin may have restructured the whole place The Three occupy, as well as their relationship with The Gods. And then, of course, there's Janzo and Wren and the truth that finally came out. We'll talk about it all and take calls to see what viewers thought about the episode.
The first regular episode of The Outpost Calling for season 3B will take a look at the premiere episode and try to unpack some of what we saw -- and there was plenty. Falista has staked her claim to the throne of the realm, but that was only the tip of the iceberg. In an episode that saw Falista get multiple wins on several fronts, she also was able to get Tobin resurrected, as well as receive an invitation from Two and Three, as well as the "God" Vorta, to join them. We''ll talk about all of that and more as the fourth season of The Outpost gets rolling. There's Wren with a couple things giong on in her life, Talon mourning the loss of Gwen and her father, as well as Zed trying to manipulate a couple of situations. And then we have Two and Three roaming around free and, apparently, ready to take care of some unfinished business. Yes, there was a lot going on in the first episode of season 4 of The Outpost. We'll talk about it Saturday night.
Beyond the Rim returns with hosts John and Ruth looking to talk about some interesting tidbits in the pop culture entertainment realm. Chief among this show's topics will be a return to Loki and why they have found the show not only interesting but fun. The dynamic between Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson will be explored, as well as how their characters really riff off each other in fun, yet telling, banter. Also on tap will be a look at the recently-released The Tomorrow Wars, which is a Chris Pratt vehicle about fighting a battle on earth's in the future. What did John and Ruth think of the movie? We'll talk about that at length. Also on the schedule is the new show Monsters at Work, a discussion about Picard and Q coming full circle in the new season of Star Trek: Picard, as well as a few other odds and ends they both have an interest in. Don't forget, there's a call-in number so you can offer some thoughts as well.
With season 4 (or 3B, if you will) of The Outpost about to drop on The CW, it's a good time to take a look back at the end of last season and see what that might portend for the new season. Host John Baker will offer some thoughts on the past, the present and the future of The Outpost and discuss those with callers. The end of season 3 felt like a pivot point for the series and with new cast members, new threats and a realm to bring into order, there's sure to be plenty of chaos and intriguing storylines running through the next 13 episodes. So, we'll talk about the show, the characters and theorize about what we might be seeing in the next three months. Welcome back to The Outpost Calling.
In the June episode of Beyond the Rim, co-hosts John and Ruth will delve into some shows they are currently watching, or recently finished. Uppermost in their minds at the moment is the premiere of Loki on Disney+. They will talk casting, impact, vibe, easter eggs and more about the first episode of a show that has been much anticipated and discussed. But that won't be the only thing on the host's minds. No, our erstwhile brother-sister pair will talk a little about the animated comedy gem that is M.O.D.O.K., a show John it taking particular joy in, as well as a Ruth fav in Cosmos. Alson on tap will be a look at the upcoming Rose City Comic Con in Portland, some thoughts on the season-ender of The Nevers, Star Wars: The Bad Batch opinions, as well as a couple more surprises. It's 45 minutes of lively discussion, laughs and Ruth giving her brother a bunch of guff from start to finish.
Our May 2021 show will have plenty of interesting topic to discuss, including the increasing amount of streaming platforms out there. Are they good, bad, or just too many? Host Ruth Reis and John Baker will talk about the proliferation of streaming sites and what they like and don't like about them. Also on the docket will be some thoughts on new series such as Shadow and Bone and The Nevers. They'll also delve into some new offerings on the horizon, including Chaos Walking, Loki (and the new trailer), a Jeff Goldblum podcasting adventure, We'll talk a few animated things that are on their way and look really interesting - M.O.D.O.K and Star Wars: The Bad Batch are both coming in May and should find a nice audience. There's a lot more in the hopper, so we'll just invite you to give it all a listen.

The season finale of season 3A of The Outpost was filled with emotional moments and revelations. In this final episode of The Outpost Calling of the season, we'll look at the shock of losing Queen Gwynn in a heroic moment that saved everyone, as well as the ramifications of Talon being the acknowledged leader of the Realm right now. We'll talk about the darkness that seemed to run throughout the episode and the emotional toll that not only losing Gwynn might deliver, but also Talon's father, who had the Black Kinj. We'll take phone calls and discuss not only the season finale, but also the entirety of season 3A and what we might be looking at for the next season...and who are these "gods" that have been released?
In tonight's episode, we'll look at episode 312 of The Outpost. In this penultimate episode, The Outpost continues an unpleasant tradition of killing off one of its main characters. We'll take a look at Tobin's transformation and the way he went out in this episode - saving Falista even after confessing his renewed love for her. It was a tough one to take, so we'll talk about what it might all mean down the road. We'll also look at the discovery of Talon's dad impaled on a cave floor, The United overrunning the Outpost, and the fact that Garret appears to have gotten some of his swagger back. Also, what is going on with Munt. With one episode remaining in season 3A, we'll talk theories about where it all might lead in the future.
During this Christmas week episode, we'll take a look at the goings-on at The Outpost in episode 311. It looks like we are going to take a trip to the Plain of Ashes as Talon, Zed and Wren step through a portal in what seems like a vain attempt to locatae Talon's father - if alive - and find the whereabouts of the Black Kinj. The hope is that Kinj will have the power to destroy Yavalla, even as her operatives find a way into the Outpost as they get ready to attack. At last, the loose threads of Talon's dad, the black box, the death Kinj, Wren, Zed and more may start to be coming together. What that tapestry may look like when completed, anyone knows. We'll take a look at Falista and her struggle with the red Kinj and Tobin's divided feelings, Gwynn's own struggle and a bit of redemption for everyone when cooler heads prevail. There are only three episodes left (including 311) until season 3A finishes, so we'll talk about what may or may not be coming and take phone calls to hear from others who may have some thoughts.
During this week's episode, we take a long look at Yavalla and her apparent inability to die. Despite Zed and Talon's best efforts with fire and blade, Yavalla continues to be able to avoid death with a hearty laugh and cold smile. We'll talk about her escape from death and the impending war on the Outpost she now proposes to unleash. We'll also talk the close call that Wren and Janzo had, and lament the infection of Munt, who was not able to be rescued during this episode. What might it be like for Janzo to face Munt in the heat of battle at the Outpost? Tobin and Falista returned to the Outpost with wagons laden with food, but Gwynn was not in a forgiving or understanding mood, so that little three-some of stress continues to be an interesting topic, particularly at the end of the episode when Gwynn turns the tables with a stunning announcement.
This week we will look at the goings-on of episode 309 of The Outpost. First and foremost, we see the shoe drop on the 7th Kinj. Where in the world, or realm, might the Black Kinj be hiding and once found, what it might be capable of doing? Also known as the "death" Kinj, there's plenty of questions about this little revelation in this episode and we'll explore it. Also on tap will be a look at our two teams looking to either kill or cure Yavalla. Additionally, Tobin and Falista, who dropped the marriage thing with some force, have also left The Outpost to make their "mark" somewhere in the realm. But before we talk, we'll get a chance to listen to an audio file that Reece Ritchie (Zed himself) sent over recently. There's plenty of good stuff in this week's episode, so tune in.
This week's episode takes a deep dive into episode 308 of The Outpost, an episode that gave us plenty of Kinj-worthy moments, as well as some more questions about those little creatures. There's plenty to delve into about the Kinj and some revelations and a twist or two that centered around them in this episode. We'll also look at the issue of rage getting a little exercise via Zed and Talon, as well as Garret's ability to come face-to-face with one of his tormentors and still be able to keep his cool. Episode 308 had a lot to ponder, including the quick coming and going of Prime Order brute Jaaris Kromm and a few notes of surprise on Yavalla's face. We'll take calls, talk about the episode and more in this episode.
A new night for The Outpost and a new night and time for The Outpost Calling. In this episode, we'll look at some of the interesting developments that episode 307 brought to us, including a look at the new antagonist Jaaris Kromm, who has taken over lordship of The Outpost itself while Zed, Garret and Talon are at the capital looking to make a dent in Yavalla's plans - and her life. This episode gives us a look at two Kinj events that proved to be interesting, some insight into Janzo's leadership ability, and the budding rivalry of Zed and Garret in the cast of the lovely Talon. Additionally, we'll have a fun audio Q&A with Garret Spears himself, Jake Stormoen. Jake answered some questions sent to him via audio file and that's going to be 17 minutes of fun information.
In this week's episode, we'll take some time to look at the first half of season 3 of The Outpost. With the show moving to Sunday nights on Nov. 22, this is a good time to take a look back at the first 6 episodes of this season and talk about the changes, story arcs and many fun moments of the first half of the season. We'll also talk theories and what the next 7 episodes might have in store for the viewers and the characters. Additionally, this episode of The Outpost Calling will have visit from Munt himself, Adam Johnson. He as kind enough to answer some questions sent to to cast members via audio file and we'll play that for you Friday night. So, get ready for that little treat. Yavalla and her minions are out in the countryside and our heroes - Talon, Garret, Wren, Janzo and Zed - are looking at what their next move might be in episode 306 of The Outpost - "Kill the rat, kill the kinj." With Yavalla gone, we'll look at what she's up to as she marches toward the Capitol, while our heroes try to keep the new alliance between Humand, Blackbloods and the Blackfist from erupting into disaster. We'll talk about the characters, the story and do plenty of speculating on what might be happening in the future. And as always, we'll hope to get some callers to share their thoughts on the episode. Well, with episode 3.1 in the books at last, this week's episode of The Outpost Calling takes a look at the many, many interesting tidbits and revelations that came about in the opener. We'll talk about Yobahn's gravelly-voiced irritation, Wren's ability to not only irritate Janzo, but completely captivate him with her skills, as well as the arrival of Blackblood priestess Yavalla, and what that might mean. The Outpost Calling returns before the start of season 3 to talk about season 2, it's finale, and what he are looking forward to most in season 3. As you may remember, The Outpost was able to fend off the Prime Order armies only after Talon summoned more Blackbloods and the Lu-Qiri. Unfortunately, in their moment of triumph, the humans were betrayed by Zed and his friends and decided to take the outpost for themselves. The fantasy-adventure show set at an outpost at the farthest reaches of The Realm, has proven popular with a passionate fandom as we see the adventures of Talon, a blackblood, and her cohort of friends and allies as they battle the evils of the Prime Order. With the announcement that a third season is on tap, the speculation of what it might entail is at full throttle and we'll take a look at what we might see in a third season of The Outpost. Beyond the Rim's 30 episode will feature hosts John and J'Dean exploring their top 5 (or so) favorite characters from the Star Wars franchise - all the movies. They'll talk characters and why they like them during this semi-regular "list" episode. But that's not all. They'll talk a little Star Trek via Quentin Tarantino, the new Terminator movie, and a new War of the Worlds series that will be on BBC. Sure, many won't get that channel, but this new three-part mini-series takes the alien invasion genre back to where it essentially all began. And what else? Oh, there could be some talk about Disney+ and Star Wars, the casting news for the next Jurassic World movie and who knows what else. Shadow and Bone, anyone?
Season 2 of The Outpost comes to a brutal and bloody climax, as well as a twist that we all should have seen coming. The Prime Order is at the outpost's gates and the battle of battles is joined. Fortunately, this two-episode season finale offers plenty of interesting tidbits to enjoy, as well as the sad realization that we've lost an important member of the group. Host John Baker will look at what made episode 213 so interesting and how the twists and turns that developed could move along in a third season. However, there is a Prime Order army to defeat, friends to reconnect with, and a pretty bit of revenge that needs to be dealt with in Garret's heart. How much will be accomplished, and what will be lost, when the smoke clears and the cacophony of battle is finally at an end. Season 2 of The Outpost has come to a close. What do you think?

They'll talk panels, meet-and-greets, and other takes on one of their favorite events of the year. Also in this episode, they will talk about a new Jurassic World short that's coming down the pipe, as well as talk about a Battlestar Galactica reboot that will be something a little different. Also on tap will be a look at Daybreak, a new post-apocalyptic show from Netflix that will featue teenagers trying to deal with a world gone completely to hell and a hand-basket. In addition to all this, they'll talk about a few more interesting items that are in the process of coming to TV or silver screen.
In Episode 7 of The Outpost Calling, host John Baker will take a look at the latest episode of The Outpost and what it may mean moving forward. Garret's revenge-fueled foray back to the capital could mean many different things, while Janzo, Queen Gwynn and those still at the outpost must deal with the aftermath of defeating Milus's army using plaguelings as their prime weapon. Janzo needs to find a cure for the plagueling infection, a task made even more desperate with his "mother" having been stung by a plagueling. And what of Tobin and his quest for Gwynn's heart? What are his chances now that Garret has entered the picture once again. And what of the Prime Order army, are they on their way? Is Naya after killing Dred? We'll see how it all plays out in this discussion of episode 211 of The Outpost.
Host John Baker will take a look at some of what went on in episode 210 of The Outpost. He'll discuss the big loss of the episode, as well as just what Garret might be thinking now that he's out from under The Healer's spell (as well as the potion that was keeping him in thrall to her). The siege has been broken and Milus is dead, but the worry of the plagueling outbreak is still very much part of the picture as Janzo rushes to find a cure to give those infected a chance to defend The Outpost. Meanwhile, Talon has kicked Zed to the curb after he tried to invade her mind, something that leaves her in a bit of a quandary about what to do next. We'll talk Episode 210 and The Outpost as whole in this episode.
Hosts John and J'Dean will take a long look at the upcoming Rose City Comic Con in Portland, discussing panels, guests and other aspects of the Con that they anticipate enjoying. In addition to that, they'll go over some items about the new Lord of the Rings prequel series, examine the potential of Brad Pitt's sci-fi movie Ad Astra, what's new with the Tomb Raider 2 movie, as well as some other tidbits along the way.
Well, things appear to be heating up a bit within The Outpost as Zed and Talon have left to find the missing jewel that will, supposedly, create this powerful amulet and help solve everyone's problems. While they are gone, we will see if Garret really does have a The Three confederate on the inside to help him and how that will all play out. No doubt Janzo will be in the middle of whatever transpires and should Garret get loose, will he once again go after the queen? All that is playing out while The Three have gathered their army and are preparing to march on The Outpost. We'll talk about episode 209 and what it may mean moving forward.
John and J'Dean will open this episode with a look at the recent "sizzle" reel of new footage for Star Wars 9, which dropped at D23 recently. They'll offer some thoughts about the new scenes and what may be going on, as well as discuss some of the theories floating around out there. This show will also have John offering some thoughts on Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, which dropped Friday on Netflix. J'Dean will offer some thoughts on the new Carnival Row show that also dropped on Friday on Amazon Prime. Along the way, the hosts will talk about some other aspeccts of D23 and several other tidbits that have come along recently.
Episode 4 of The Outpost Calling will take a look at Episode 208 of The CW's "The Outpost." The show focuses on what went on during the past episode, as well as looks at the development of the story and characters that inhabit the realm. The show will take a look at what Garret is up to in his altered state and whether Talon should trust Zed at all.
The Outpost Calling will look at what went on during Episode 207 of "The Outpost" this week. There will be discussion on the characters such as Talon, Gwynn, Garret, Janzo, Elinor, Tobin and others as they weave their way through several interesting storylines that are in play during this season. Talon has been stabbed, so we need to see how she handles that, while Garret is apparently under some mind-control brainwashing that has him doing the bidding of The Three. All roads would seem to lead back to The Outpost, where we'll see who rises and who may fall.
Beyond the Rim hosts John and J'Dean will take a look at the Con Fever that is sweeping their lives in anticipation of Rose City Comic Con in September. They'll talk guests, programs and other stuff going on with the coming con. Also on tap is a review of the Netflix original Wu Assassins, as well as their thoughts on what's next for the Star Wars franchise after the Skywalker arc is completed in December. Adding to the Star Wars talk will be some thoughts about Ewan McGregor possibly reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a possible Disney+ show. What else, you ask? Well, some thoughts on the propsed He-Man reboot, the movie "Underwater" with Kristen Stewart, as well as some possible Lord of the Rings prequel news and notes.
