We're thrilled to share our conversation with Dr. Jan Freed, a beacon of wisdom in the realm of leadership.
Dr. Freed, a keynote speaker, leadership expert, and author, is no stranger to the concept of legacy, bringing to the table her invaluable insights on a life lived with a lasting impact. We take a deep dive into her fascinating notion of 'Breadcrumb Legacy', dissecting how leaders can leave significant marks and foster a culture of wisdom, even amidst change and succession.
In the episode, we explore the influence and impact that leaders can have on others even in the way they end a meeting or leave a room. We also get into the power of feedback loops, both in personal growth and organizational evolution. We take a hard look at the dangers of ego and fear-based leadership, the venom they inject into work cultures, and the essential role of self-responsibility in shifting legacies.
Navigating change and grief is crucial in leadership today. We discuss the importance of metabolizing grief to foster resilience and collaboration. And finally, we delve into the qualities needed to foster trust and generosity in an organization, and how having an abundance mindset or servant leadership mindset can support the creation of a healthy culture.
About Jann Freed, PhD
Apart from being a successful leadership consultant Dr. Jann is the author or co-author of five books. In her most recent book, Leading with Wisdom: Sage Advice from 100 Experts, she interviews prominent leadership gurus such as Jim Autry, Marshall Goldsmith, Sally Helgeson, Dan Pink, and Margaret Wheatley. One of the book’s key insights: to be a powerful leader you must keep your ego in check. In other words, it’s hard to be a good leader if you’re not a good person.

According to Dr. Mills, we are currently experiencing a New Human Renaissance. Old systems and industries are dying. We likely won’t be able to do that without healing our broken culture and leveraging AI to help us.
In this episode:
In this eye-opening episode, we're joined by the multifaceted and brilliant Dr. Scott W Mills. If you've been on a journey of personal transformation, you know that transformation is not a painless process...
Doing the deep inner work can bring us to our knees. Breaking away from beliefs that no longer serve us can feel like we ourselves are breaking. But as special guest Amanda Kate says in today's episode, she'd rather go through the transformation than give up the (often challenging) path of healing. There is so much to be gained when we do this work - authenticity, sovereignty, choice.
As we unlearn and deprogram, we begin to see new choices before us and take our sovereignty back. Those moments when we see the pattern and choose something different, often define who we become.
In this episode, we explore:
In this episode, I'm joined by author and transformational coach, Amanda Kate. Amanda Kate is the author of Divine. Messy. Human: A Spiritual Guide to Prioritising Internal Truth over External Influence. And she has an extraordinary way of synthesizing the key phases and revelations along her journey.

How do we tap into our unique genius so we can live a life of purpose?
If we are not living a life that is authentic to us, we lose access to our own vitality and creativity. There are many “templates” out there for what success should look like… but unless we choose to live by our own template, we might be living by someone else’s rules and never truly knowing ourselves.
This is exactly what Kevin Kepple helps people uncover. Inside this episode, you will learn:

What if sharing the authentic story actually got us better results? What if being real was more important than being perfect?
Jason Cercone joins me on the show today for a conversation about brand authenticity and storytelling. Although imposter syndrome might keep us too afraid to share the good, bad, and ugly, doesn't it also make us human? The journey to hitting our goals or building a platform like a podcast (which happens to be Jason's speciality), is not linear...
It takes putting ourselves out there even when it's scary and learning to befriend failure as a teacher. As Jason shares in the episode, it also takes commitment and perseverance. The myth of overnight success might be alluring, but authentic relationships of trust are built in the challenges along the way. To share the authentic story is not only healing for us as individuals, but it gives others permission to be their whole human self.
In this episode:
Meet Jason Cercone
With nearly a decade of experience in the podcast world, Jason Cercone has built his brand around the consumptive power of storytelling and simplifying podcast guesting. He helps leaders craft their authentic story and tell it with confidence as a podcast guest while simultaneously maximizing the value of each guest appearance and establishing thought leadership in their niche. You'll also find him hosting Evolution of Brand, a podcast featuring stories and strategies for building an authentic personal brand.

What can executives and business owners learn from the world of end-of-life care? We’re about to find out, from today’s guest, Jan Booth, who happens to be a palliative care nurse and seasoned death doula.
Loss and change are an inevitable part of the human journey. Each time we change jobs or relationships or homes, there is a “death” and a grieving of what once was. We mourn who we used to be, and the loss of opportunities we didn’t take. Death is all around us.
However, in Western culture we are conditioned to fear death, and Western medicine often views death as a “failure.” We try to prevent death at all costs, sometimes taking away the opportunity for a natural death. Even talking about death can feel uncomfortable and taboo, let alone expressing the emotions (anger, grief, sadness) that come with it.
When we lose a family member, we get 3 days of bereavement if we’re lucky, and then we’re expected to go back to work. The pace of business as usual doesn’t allow the space for emotional processing, so we suppress and numb. This can make us feel isolated and disconnected.
We find ourselves in an increasingly VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) world, and we are watching entire industries and systems come to the end of their life… how might we hospice business as usual with compassion and care?
In this episode:
About our guest:
Janet Booth, MA, RN, NC-BC
Jan has worked as a nurse for many years at the intersection of quality of life and end of life, as a hospice/palliative care nurse and as an end-of-life coach and educator. She has served as faculty for the Integrative Nurse Coach Academy, the Conscious Dying Institute, and the Art of Dying Institute’s integrative thanatology certificate program; and presents workshops on the transformative possibilities of end-of-life care. Additionally, Jan is the author of Re-Imagining the End-of-Life: Self-Development & Reflective Practices for Nurse Coaches, and one of the co-authors of Bold Spirit Caring for the Dying.

What does the future of community, governance and finance look like?
Humanity is a massive evolutionary moment across all systems. Many of our systems are failing, and we’re seeing the harmful limitations of our dominant western culture play out on a global scale. When you layer in climate change and biodiversity loss, the future starts to look pretty grim…
However, humanity is adapting and prototyping new ways of being and doing, all around the globe. Today’s guest, Martin Theis, is one of these humans. Through various communities and the music scene in Germany, Martin has first hand experience playing in non-monetary systems of exchange, self-organizing communities of creation, and different governance structures.
In this episode:
About Martin Theis
Martin is a spiritual coach and teacher who focuses on mental and emotional well-being through the art of shamanic journeys.
The coaching practice Light Trails Co.'s mission is to assist others on their journey from suffering to inner peace and joy.
Martin lives in Germany, Norway and Hawaii and is in the process of building a decentralised network of non-profit orginizations that aim at building low entrance barrier refuges for people to find healing and regeneration.

Leaders today have an opportunity to stop cycles of harm and heal patterns of multigenerational trauma.
Leadership today can be very reactive. Our work cultures often don’t leave much room for us to be human, and so we find ourselves living predominantly in the logic mind, rather than in our physical or emotional bodies.
Greg works at the intersection of leadership and healing. He believes that “to be a leader is to be a vessel of healing.” And this starts with self-healing. Greg works with leaders to heal burnout, anxiety and depression. His approach is rooted in trauma healing and weaves both somatic and mindfulness-based practices.

What happens when we've built everything we thought we wanted, but still aren't happy? We have the successful career, the house, the family... but we're still missing something... our true selves.
When we stay in the addiction cycles of "busyness" and perfection, we don't have time or space to reflect on what truly makes us happy and fulfilled. We continue in the momentum of the life we've created, doing what we think we "should" do.
Dmitria's story invites us into a "pattern interrupt." She began to question the track she was on, and by using powerful but simple tools like breath, self-care, and rest, she was able to create enough space and stillness to truly see herself and discover where self-worth actually comes from.
You can learn more about Dmitria and how she supports others through her work at: https://www.findingluminance.com/

Karyn Seitz is known as The Happiness Mentor.
What is happiness? And what is preventing us from being fully happy?
Like many of us, Karyn was chasing success externally, and outsourcing her happiness to others. As she did, the void and imposter syndrome got bigger. Despite the spiritual seeking and achievements, she still didn’t feel like she was “enough.” That is, until she realized this truth.

If you’ve ever been burnt out, questioned the conventional definition of success, or wondered if there is more to life than hard work, then this episode is for you.
In this episode:
I’m here with Dr. Victor Manzo.
Dr. Vic is a successful business owner turned business mindset coach. He’s written 3 books, all with very compelling titles I might add. He is the creator of The Mindful Experiment Podcast, ranked in the top 1% of podcasts globally on ListenNotes. He is a reiki master, who has studied many other healing arts, and even took a deep dive studying end of life at one point!
Today, Dr. Vic and I explore “success,” and the burnout that can come from chasing it. After reaching the “top,” Dr. Vic realized that he wasn’t actually happy or healthy working this way. Something had to give.
With some powerful mindset shifts, Dr. Vic was able to get clear about what was most important to him, and then redesign life + work to match those values. This shift didn’t come without a financial dip, though. Tune in to hear how Dr. Vic navigated the transition into a new mindset, and a new way of operating, and who he became on the other side… spoiler alert, he’s now tapping into quantum physics and helping others step out of the matrix!

Initiation is the process of stepping into a new version of oneself. It often involves stepping into the unknown and leaving behind a version of self that you can’t ever go back to. This can be quite terrifying. However, when these big transitions are sacredly held, we can find deep meaning and purpose as we move through the fear zone. So how do we bring the magic of initiation into business?
Each time we are promoted or enter the cultural fabric of a new company, we are initiated into a new chapter. We become a new version of ourselves, that we are meeting in real-time. But if the culture is one of “go go go” or “jump in and figure it out yourself,” we can miss all sorts of value that is ONLY available to us in those early stages of a new team member joining us.
Fresh eyes bring fresh perspectives and vantage points that haven’t been accessed yet. New team members can see things that those too close to the problem cannot. If left to operate from old habits and assumptions, a new team member’s early enthusiasm may quickly dwindle or go towards building something that isn’t in alignment with where you want to take your company. Or worse, they may feel the neglect and generate all sorts of narratives about you and your company, eventually poisoning the well and making their way for the door.
The first 90 days of onboarding are the most important in a new team member’s journey. How can we as leaders do the due diligence during hiring, so that we can feel like a f*ck yes to investing time and energy into the PERSON who has just joined. How can we infuse this process with appreciation and care, while setting high standards for quality and integrity in a role? How can we intelligently and empathically plug a new person into a company’s DNA?
In today’s episode, we’ll be exploring the strategic role that initiation and integration processes can bring to our businesses. That’s right y’all – we are integrating the best wisdom from our spiritual practices WITH world-class business know-how. Let’s get into it.

What does it mean to take a leap of faith? And what (or who) waits for us on the other side?
I took a leap of faith 3 years ago when I chose to leave the 9-5 model. I now travel the world living a global, seasonal lifestyle within a decentralized community of incredible humans... sounds incredible right? It is, AND it hasn’t come without its challenges. I’ve had to move through my fears over and over again. Often when we imagine the idealized version of ourselves or our lives, we don’t see the difficult aspects of being emotional, physical beings.
Every lifestyle and every choice has pros and cons. But when we follow our inner guidance system, I find that the cons or “negative” aspects are aligned too. They often hold the medicine we need to fully step into that choice, and learn to love ourselves through all phases of the journey.
Taking the leap of faith is a bold choice – one that I have made often. I find the hardest “leaps” are the ones we feel we can’t come back from… like deprogramming our mindsets, doing plant medicine, or any other choice that we intuitively know will change us to our core. Maybe our loved ones won’t even recognize us anymore. Part of us dies during these choices, but a new version of us is born in the process. It can feel disorienting to step into a completely new version of ourselves, a new set of rules or thinking, or start living in a new reality.
Any other quantum jumpers out there? This one’s for you!

It can be scary to leave the current “template” of work. If we leave the “norm” or what is expected of us, will we be abandoned? Will we run out of resources? Fear can keep us stuck. The fear may even seem quite rational.
Since leaving my 9-5 and redesigning my lifestyle, I’ve had to face it all… I’ve had to deconstruct my belief system, and then reconstruct my inner operating system with new beliefs. I now live a lifestyle that looks like I designed it.
How did I do it? It started with getting myself into the most stillness and spaciousness I’ve ever experienced. I had to slow down so that I could begin to hear myself, and shine a light on what truly matters to me. It turns out that living a seasonal, global lifestyle that is anchored in nature’s cycles and rhythms, is how I want to operate. By honoring these cycles, my life has transformed.
Inside this episode, I’ll share a few tools that I use at the start of each “season” of life, to map out my intentions and core focuses for the journey ahead. The approach is integrative across life + work, rather than treating them as two separate worlds. What does it mean to live a life of full integrity and why does it matter?
When we live from integrity and inner alignment, manifestation gets "easier" because there is less of a gap between what our heart desires and receiving that very thing. Said another way, there is no resistance, because the desire is so true, real, and felt. In order to become the powerful manifestors that we are, we have to first know what our hearts truly want, and what it feels like to be in full alignment, integrity and resonance with ourselves. This takes a bit of practice, to cultivate the self-awareness of these elements.
In this episode, I share the practices that have allowed me to do this over the years, and how living from full integrity has made me a better manifestor.

This week I’m coming to you from Ireland! I’ve felt a pull to come here since I was a little girl, and through honoring my intuition, it’s finally happened. I’ve been connecting with the land and ancestors, on this magical quest to live this season of life from a place of deep intention.
We are a new version of ourselves each moment. We are also products of our context, and I’m now in a completely different environment. This seasonal way of living and working, and choosing to live from different places around the world during certain seasons of life, is something I’ve been building towards for many years.
I’ve started living a life of emergence, where I wake up each day to meet myself where I am, and check in with myself on what is most significant to me. For this lifestyle to feel safe and secure, I’ve learned that I need to create just enough structure, to allow the emergence of life and creativity to flow through me, without fear and with basic needs met. This structure doesn’t have to be created through traditional (or even monetary) means, which I’ll share more about inside the episode.
Welcome to a new chapter of my life.I’m following my calling to live and work in a place where I have deep, unexplored roots. I’m also doing the inner work to remain open and receptive to the magic that is all around me. If I am stuck in my ways or beliefs, I could easily miss it.
In this episode, we explore seasonal living and working in other countries, normalizing intuition, and honoring our true yes/no in each moment. I don’t know about you, but I know in my bones that I’m not designed to be the same everyday, or even year after year. I’m dynamic and ever-evolving, and even a bit nomadic! I’m finding that things fall into place, when I show up in full integrity and alignment with myself.
I’m so excited to have you here, at the start of my Ireland journey of self-healing and intentional living (working).
The conditions of modern work culture often cause us to turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms in an attempt to regulate our nervous systems. For many of us, we have become addicted to or reliant upon coping mechanisms like fueling ourselves with caffeine, drinking alcohol, and overeating.
When we bring our disregulated nervous systems into a collective field, we can disregulate the nervous systems of those around us. We never know who on our team struggles with addiction, or how unhealthy their coping mechanisms might be. This is why I believe leaders have a self-responsibility to process their emotions and healthily regulate their own nervous systems.
This requires the leader to heal any patterns that sit underneath their own coping mechanisms and additions. Many of us have been operating in a state of stress, anxiety, or depression and coping with that. If we exist in toxic work cultures, perhaps we ourselves turn to toxic behavior, or habits of putting toxins and drugs in our own bodies.
In this episode I share my struggle with alcohol abuse as a coping mechanism, and my journey to detoxifying my leadership practices.

Life has a way of inviting us into our highest potential... if we are open to listening to that call. I've found in my work with leaders that sometimes our biggest fear is something we wouldn't expect. We fear our own potential.
Along my journey, whenever my next big self-growth opportunity was standing in front of me, I had to face this fear. For many years I played small and hit behind tasks, so that I wouldn't have to be fully seen in my potential.
Why? I feared that once I stepped into that potential, I could never turn back. I was afraid I might have to leave people I love behind, and let go of any behaviors that weren't a match to the best version of myself. I was comfortable with those habits though, even if they didn't serve me. I clung to their familiarity through self-sabotaging, ensuring that I stayed at the level I was at.
Growth can be scary, especially when it involves putting ourselves out there in bigger ways. But at some point, it becomes more painful to STAY small, than taking the risk to move forward. It also does a disservice to the world and others to hold back the gifts that our world so desperately needs. I've come to see self-growth as a self-responsibility that I have to any company, team, or family that I may grow.
Tune into episode 7 to explore these themes with me. If you can relate and resonate with my journey, please be sure to "Like" this episode and Subscribe to my channel. I release a new episode every Monday.

Today I'm showing up in some luteal energy! This is the phase of the menstrual cycle where we begin to turn inward. Our intuition is heightened and we become more grounded in our bodies, as we prepare to release anything that no longer serves us. This is a form of integration, and it creates even more space within us for creativity in the next cycle that begins after our menstrual phase.
Cycle syncing is such a powerful practice for leaders, because at our core, we are space holders. We hold space for the birthing of innovations and creations. We hold space for our teams. But we cannot do this if we do not rest and integrate, and honor all phases of our cycle.
The luteal phase can be a time where shadows and patterns surface, to be healed and released. This doesn't mean that something is wrong with us. This means that we are emotionally preparing to release.
In this episode, I share a little bit about the 4 distinct phases of the menstrual cycle, but if you're interested in taking a deeper dive into this, I invite you to check out my cycle syncing course (https://www.nicolebellisle.com/cyclesyncing). In addition to the virtual course, you'll find 3 powerful how-to guides that you can read through, to begin cycle syncing.

In this episode we explore how learning to manage and read energy makes us more conscious and self-responsible leaders.
I've practiced reiki for 15 years and have worked with hundreds of clients in my former practice in Boulder, CO. As my sensitivity to energy increased, I began to bring my energy work to my executive leadership, team management, and conflict resolution, and it's been a total game-changer.
Everything is energy, and as more conscious ways of being enter the work force, you're not going to want to miss this opportunity to level up your energy management practices at work. Self-reiki has gotten me through even the darkest, most stressful days as an executive. It's improved my stress, anxiety, and sleep. It has been a critical practice in healing my burnout after a decade+ of extracting value and productivity from myself beyond what was healthy.
Let's dive in!

Welcome to episode 4 of the (K)new Self podcast! I'm your host, Nicole Bellisle, and today I'm authentically sharing the story of how I eroded trust within my own body for YEARS, but the choices I was making. I wasn't consciously aware of all of the times I was overriding and ignoring my body's true needs, but these micro choices added up and eventually led me to burnout and depression.
Learning how to cultivate trust through different choices and forming a different relationship with my body has been a journey. But it's so important that we cultivate this trust within, because it allows us to form trusting relationships with others AND create cultures of trust and dignity within our teams and companies.
Tune in for more of the story. And a disclaimer that in this episode there is mention of alcohol abuse and sexual trauma, which could be triggering to those who have shared these experiences. Please listen at your own discretion.

Welcome to episode 3 of the (K)new Self podcast!
As a human once addicted to constant doing, learning how to sit still with myself has been one of the most challenging undertakings on my journey. My entire self-identity was once wrapped up in work. My entire self-worth was once equated to how much I achieved and accomplished.
When you take all of that away, and strip away all of the noise, who are we? What is waiting for us in the stillness?
Often our deepest shadows and core patterns are just waiting for us to be still and quiet enough to surface, so that we can face them, and heal them. Integration is some of the hardest work there is, and we've gotten really good at suppressing our deepest pains and fears. But on the other side of loving ourselves through lives hardest moments and memories, is DEEP self-trust and safety within.
That is what we are exploring in today's episode.
Thanks for being here!

In today's episode we travel through my story of success, including all of the hidden cost I was silently paying along the way.
Burnout for me looked like heart palpitations and debilitating back pain landing me in the ER. But I pushed on with the aid of caffeine and alcohol, until one day after a big project fail, I got really honest with myself. I needed a different lifestyle.
So I quit my job at Harvard, dropped out of my MBA, and headed west to Colorado where I found myself in the heart center of the impact entrepreneurship scene of Boulder, CO. I began to nurture my spiritual side, through my Reiki practice and entering the worlds of ecstatic dance and epic outdoor enthusiasm.
...But we always bring ourselves with us wherever we go. Little did I know that along with my belongings, I had packed my core patterns and beliefs about work, and brought them with me to Boulder, CO.
Thanks for tuning into this powerful piece of the story.

Welcome to the (K)new Self Podcast, a podcast intended to transform how we do work + life.
This podcast has been a long time coming, and it's finally ready to be birthed! Join me in episode 0, where I share the deeper intent behind this podcast. The world of work is radically changing. We have seen through the veil of capitalistic, patriarchal work structures that extract our value and our health for profitable gain. Many are stepping into a more sacred role as the conscious entrepreneur and the embodied, integrated leader.
We are setting boundaries with the unspoken agreements of control and extraction. We are healing work trauma. We are discovery the power of rest for integration. We are learning to let go of our attachment to the false securities of the old paradigm. This is deep work. There is a death and grieving process that happens when our very constructs of reality and our own identity break. But we are in this together.
It's time to shine our light. Thanks for tuning is as I shine mine.
This is just the beginning.
