We invited Danielle Mong, our new Clinical Supervisor, and Trauma Coordinator, to CRH Talk to explain her new role within our Emergency Department.

Her dedication to patient care and follow-up is amazing.

At Cody Regional Health (CRH), we are completing a system-wide launch of our new Electronic Health Record (EHR) system called EPIC starting on October 1, 2022. The simultaneous go-live will encompass all of CRH’s medical clinics around the Big Horn Basin Region, which will exchange secure patient records across a single sharing platform. The EPIC system is made possible partly through a partnership with St. Vincent Healthcare, now part of Intermountain Healthcare. CRH patients will be able to use a new digital tool called CRH MyChart, allowing them to easily locate personal health information on demand. They will also be able to communicate more easily with their doctor, complete healthcare questionnaires before their visit, schedule appointments, and be more involved in managing their overall health. Jennifer Jones, Information Services Director, talks through what she and the team have been preparing for this "Epic" go-live! EPIC will replace Meditech, our current medical record and patient billing software. Hundreds of CRH employees have worked diligently on this key initiative since 2020. If you have any questions regarding this upcoming launching please contact your CRH primary care provider. For all billing requests please email billing@codyregionalhealth.org.

The Wyoming Trauma Program's mission and guiding vision is to promote optimal care of the injured patient from the time of injury through rehabilitation through the establishment, enhancement, and maintenance of effective emergency medical & trauma care systems.

Megan Maus, RN, and Emergency Department Director, joins CRH Talk to discuss our recent trauma survey. Cody Regional Health's Trauma Team passed the survey with zero deficiencies!

This means we have an amazing team that knows what they're doing! As a level 4 Community Trauma Center, we can say our center is effective. There is a demonstrated 15-20% improved survival rate for patients who are injured in an established trauma system.

Care of the injured patient that is delivered at a trauma center hospital is associated with less morbidity and mortality than in non-trauma center hospitals. "We are a well-oiled machine," states Megan. The team works closely together to ensure all of our patients are cared for quickly and efficiently for the best outcomes.

Holiday Buster Recap: 1. Prioritize: Start with making a list of 5 things every day. 2. Self-Care: This is NOT selfish! You can take a few minutes to do what YOU like to do. Fill yourself up so you can keep helping others. 3. Avoid "should statement": Stop saying "I should have done that, I should have done this. Talk POSITIVELY/KINDLY to yourself! 4. Journal: Start with gratitude first thing in the morning and at the end of the day. Journal at least 3 things you're thankful for. 5. Set Boundaries: You can say NO. Then give recommendations or other suggestions. 6. Financial Obligations: Don't feel like you have to spend spend spend! Budget an amount and stick with it. Go get something for free, gift your time, write a letter, etc. 7. Physical: Just move! Dance, walk, do any time of movement you enjoy. Try your best to do at least 20 minutes per day. 8. Practice Mindfulness: Pay attention to what's going on RIGHT NOW. Don't dwell on the past or worry about the future. Live in the present. Use a breathing ball, count 4 in - 4 hold - 4 out, use essential oils. 9. Grounding Method: See 5 things, feel 4 things, hear 3 things, smell 2 things, taste 1 thing. 10. Spend time in nature: Bundle up this time of year, just get out in some fresh air if you are stressed 11. Spirituality: Pray, read a devotion, and ask for help with your stress. 12. Practice creativity: If you sing, craft, etc. do this as often as you can to bust through the stress.
