Howdy, and welcome to the EEARSS Podcast produced by Terrier TV at Titusville High School! In this episode, we are joined by Rob Carmichael, the founder of the Wildlife Discovery Center (WDC). Originally established in Chicago in 1990, the WDC has recently moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where Rob continues his work as an environmental educator after retiring from the city in 2023.
Rob’s career spans over 30 years, where he has worked with 12 species of crocodilians, including his involvement in the critically endangered Orinoco Crocodile head start program. Rob’s impressive resume includes his roles in the IUCN’s Crocodile Specialist Group and the AZA’s Crocodile Advisory Group. Throughout his journey, Rob has consulted with zoos, trained professional staff, and successfully bred rare North American herp species at his facility.
In addition to his work with wildlife, Rob collaborates with media outlets like National Geographic and Smithsonian Channel, serving as a field producer alongside Emmy-winning cinematographer Neil Rettig. Rob has contributed to more than 30 films and has even taught college-level environmental biology and herpetology over the last 15 years.
At home, Rob and his wife, Dr. Toni Carmichael, live with 75 reptiles, two owls, two sloths, a Rottweiler, and a cat. They run the WDC as a family affair, involving their daughters, grandkids, and Toni, who serves as the WDC’s Curriculum Director.
As a former professional baseball player and with his son-in-law now pitching for the Cincinnati Reds, Rob has led an extraordinary life dedicated to wildlife conservation and education. Above all, he credits Christ for the blessings and opportunities he has been given.

In this episode, we have the honor of hosting Dr. Jeff Meldrum, a Full Professor of Anatomy & Anthropology at Idaho State University since 1993. Dr. Meldrum’s research centers on the evolution of hominin bipedalism. His professional interest in the footprints attributed to sasquatch began over 25 years ago when he personally examined a line of 15-inch tracks in the Blue Mountains of southeastern Washington.
Today, his lab houses well over 300 footprint casts attributed to relict hominoids around the world. Dr. Meldrum operates The Relic Hominoid Inquiry (RHI), which aims to promote research and provide a refereed venue for the dissemination of scholarly peer-reviewed papers exploring and evaluating the possible existence and nature of relict hominoid species around the world. This strictly online, free access publication primarily contains Research Articles, as well as Commentary & Responses, Brief Communications, Essays, News & Views, and Book Reviews.

Jason Patt, D-ABMDI Season 2 Episode 32

Jason is an seriously great guy, with an incredible background. When Jason was 18, he decided to follow his calling and serve his country. He enlisted in the United States Navy where he would serve 8 honorable years. During that time, he was deployed 4 times, including a tour in Iraq. While in the military, he began his 21 year law enforcement career as a military patrolman.
During his Law Enforcement career, he worked patrol, K9, investigations, corrections, gang and drug units, child safety, internal affairs, and many more. He was assigned as an investigator to Lake County Major Crimes Task Force, with the Metropolitan Enforcement Group, Task Force Officer with the Drug Enforcement Administration. Jason was the 2016 recipient of the Lake County Journal’s “People Who Make Lake County Great” award.
He was certified as a homicide investigator, narcotic investigator, traffic crash investigator, advanced homicide investigator, cold case investigator, forensic entomology investigator, advanced interviewer and interrogator, FBI-LEEDA certified internal affairs investigator, hostage negotiator, evidence technician, gang investigator, and an arson and fire investigator. He became one of few law enforcement investigators in the country to be board certified by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators, giving him the letters after his name, D-ABMDI. In December of 2020, he retired as the Chief of his department.
Jason just finished a book called “The Road Death Traveled” its a crazy read and one I encourage you to check out…good Lord the stories. Some just make you shake ur head in amazement, but what I found more than anything was the renewed love, appreciation and respect it would give anyone for the first-responders that do so much for us all every single day.
He also just started his own podcast, with the same name as his book and just as awesome! “The Road Death Traveled”

Dr. Rodriguez is the Vice President for Research, Policy and Advocacy at the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) (AACTE.ORG) where she leads the strategy and content development for the association's research, programs and professional learning, state and federal policy and advocacy initiatives.
She is an experienced teacher, teacher leader and professor. She has a Ph.D. in education with a focus on exceptional education from the University of Central Florida where she was a McKnight Doctoral Fellow and an Order of Pegasus Awardee. She Earned a M.A. in special education with a learning disabilities specialization from American University and her B.A. in international affairs and Latin American studies with concentration in international development, culture, and society from The George Washington University.
This is literally just touching the very beginning of accomplishments that go on and on. She went to Titusville High School and I have known this outstanding woman for years. She has NEVER taken the easy approach, she has always challenged and held herself and all those around her to the highest of standards. He is an extremely talented Chef and Businessman (who operates the Caddyshack Bros Restaurants in Rosemont Illinois and St Augustine Florida), with an incredible family.
Andy is 1 of 9 siblings, a few which are actors, Joel, Brian and Bill Murray. Andy has just recently published a book called "Eat, Drink and Be Murray" and what an excellent read is it! There are stories about growing up in the Murray home, his loving parents, trouble the brothers would cause and so much more! Including some seriously tasty recipes along with each story that are easy/quick to make.
The way in which this book is written takes you literally into the Murray family home and puts you into the kitchen and at the table right beside them. The book also has fun memories of places Andy has worked/cooked, notable people that have come in and how his experience and love for cooking has evolved along the way. Not to mention the vital tools required to do the job!

Dr. Michele Kerulis is an associate professor with the Family Institute at Northwestern University and specializes in general mental health, sport & exercise, and lifestyle & wellness. Her years of experience as an athlete, fitness professional, and therapist have created the foundation for her belief that the skills necessary to achieve success in sport and performance are the same skills necessary to achieve excellence in life.
Dr. Kerulis is certified through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) and a member of the United States Olympic Committee Sport Psychology Registry. Her involvement in AASP includes Media in Sport Special Interest Group Coordinator, member of the Web Presence Committee, and member of the Ethics Committee. In 2021, Dr. Kerulis was named a Fellow within the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
Her Accomplishments are incredible and go on and on. She is one of the worlds top experts in her field. We discuss her and her career and she provides some great advice for high school students involved in athletics and those of all other level and experience.
