Join siblings Luke and Emma, and maybe the occasional guest, as they undertake a quest together to take deep dives into every single Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM). Sorry this one needed a couple extra days in the lab, but here is the final mix all about Spin! We may have been skeptical about this DCOM being able to land with us, but we ended up having a great time. At least we did when we weren’t forced to waste time talking about pizza drones and restaurant management. Though really, this is a story about one thing: revenge. It’s always satisfying to see a cocky British man get his comeuppance, and my god do they nail that here. It’s a story all about love, grief, creativity, family…and yes DJing. There is a lot of DJing so be prepared for that.

Sigh…here we are again. It seems as though the Zombies saga will never end, and our intrepid hosts are forever destined to continue talking about it. Even when one of them really doesn’t want to and it’s kind of, sort of, maybe, not really a DCOM! So, do what you can to prepare yourselves for our coverage on Zombies 3. There’s aliens now, and one of the main characters is basically just a screen being held up by a robot. If that level of insanity surprises you, then you are clearly new around these parts. Welcome! If it doesn’t, then you have no one to blame but yourself for actually wanting to listen to this.

Well, well, well, it appears the spooky season is upon us once again! So prepare yourselves, mortals for…huh? This episode is actually for March? And it ended up being late so it’s coming out in April and so now it is even further divorced from October? Hm. Uh, okay then. So, despite all of that, we are still gonna be talking about Girl Vs. Monster here I’m afraid. Speaking of fear, this movie’s all about it! Namely in regards to a bunch of monster hunting that definitely isn’t just Ghostbusting, and getting over your stage fright to perform in what turns out to basically be a musical? It’s a wild one, gang.

Yes, dear listeners. I can hear you all now. “What’s this?! an episode being out at a normal time for once?! How can this be?!” Well, it’s just one of the many thing you can accomplish when you open yourself to the power of three little words: SI SE PUEDE! Not every lesson in Gotta Kick It Up rings as true as that one, but more of this film holds up than could be expected of it. While not everything is as strong as it should be, it definitely could be seen as being more than the some of its parts. So, what are you waiting for? Hop in a car, being driven by essentially a stranger without telling your loved ones, and enjoy! This movie makes that seem totally okay to do, so you’ll be fine.

You guessed it, The Cheetah Girls are here and we are going to SPAIN! Well, I hope the wait for this one didn’t fill you all with anticipation or anything, because we’ve got quite a “unique” DCOM for you this month. Not only because of its whole vignette thing, but there’s just something in its very DNA that just feels…off? It’s kind of hard to put into words, so you will just need to listen along to try and understand exactly how it makes you feel. Although, I will give you a hint: the title of this episode is both a reference to the film itself and representative of what it is like to actually watch it.

It’s a movie that many remember fondly, including one of the hosts, but there is a lot going on here. That’s right, it’s time for everyone’s favorite troublesome twins to take center stage in The Suite Life Movie. Oh, what hijinks ensue with these two rocking the boa…huh? Oh, again?! Fine. Once again, very little of this film actually takes place in the show’s usual setting and instead finds the Martin brothers…wait, what? No, that can’t be what happens. Like, that’s pretty out there even for most of these movies based on Disney Channel shows. Just listen for yourselves audience, I don’t think anything I write will do it justice.

All right, all right, all right everyone! There is one heck of a battle ready to unfold in front of you. Us two killer MCs are gonna tear down not each other, but everything that the film Let It Shine is throwing at them. There’s certainly a lot of things to diss considering it is trying to an adaptation of a classic play with teen drama, be a musical, have deep religious theming, and have some hip-hop thrown in there for good measure. One thing for sure though, we are definitely the most appropriate people to handle all of that.

Ahoy everyone! Join us up on the main deck as we discuss Tiger Cruise, a fun little movie about kids getting into trouble on board a Navy aircraft carrier. Doesn’t that sound like a fun little movie for us to cover on the Fourth of July? Well guess what, that movie doesn’t exist. Instead, this movie is really all about children confronting the September 11th Terrorist Attacks. The whole experience was a lot, but I think we were able to put together something for you all that isn’t a total bummer to listen in on.

You see, The Jennie Project isn’t really about the kind of monkey-related hijinks you would expect from its premise. I know, it is very disappointing. I mean, there are plenty of messes made and silly situations our characters find themselves as a result of their animal companion. However, all of its other elements somehow manage to make all of them far less impactful than they should feel. So much so, that the movie kind of feels like it doesn’t even really exist. Not much else to say really, I’m afraid. Oh, there’s also some stuff about teaching an ape sign language? Honestly that part isn’t as important as interesting as it sounds, but I feel like it is worth a mention.

It’s a story of a young boy dealing with a serious illness, and how it affects both his life and the lives of those around him. Sometimes he manages to deeply inspire people he meets, and then other times people will say possibly the most awful things you’ve ever heard to a disabled child. Will the family be divided, or will they be brought together by the experience? Oh, and then also he decides to take up Soap Box Derby racing. Though I assure you that isn’t as important to the story as you would think. So come along and join us as we try to unravel this tapestry full of subject matter that was way too complex for Disney Channel (and us too to be fair) to try and tackle.

Although the title is really misleading actually. Also, they didn’t even shoot it in Hawaii, and the real estate plot makes no sense when applied to a thirteen-year-old. So, uh, yeah. You’d think a cute little story like The Other Me would be relatively shallow, but the movie just raises so many moral and philosophical questions we couldn’t help ourselv….haha got ya. I assure you very little gets examined here, other than the truly insane twists and turns this movie decides to go on instead of just sticking to its campy premise and tone. Happy Halloween Everybody!! Are you ready to get spook….wait, what? It’s not Halloween? Oh good. I knew we had to take a little break from our podcast duties which pushed this episode back, but it didn’t feel like it had been that long. Well it’s not a big deal anyway. Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello! In many ways, this episode is quite different from what I’m sure anyone could have expected. Not only is it not about the movie we originally announced for this month, but we found ourselves doing a far more in-depth analysis of a movie’s emotion and themes than we usually do for a DCOM. To our credit, however, this is seemingly simple story about a bunch of babies changing peoples lives has more to it than you would think. It’s about things like art, family, and passion…but definitely still has plenty of jokes about babies pooping and peeing a lot so don’t worry yourself.

I just meant that we are watching Stepsister From Planet Weird this month and you need to be prepared. Not for anything to do with the aliens though, honestly that’s kind of not a big deal here. Really you just need to be ready for this film’s wild cultural references and strange sense of humor, coupled with the kind of whiplash only a DCOM can provide as it wildly flips from one tone to another.

A movie that is by no means terrible, but definitely takes a toll on your mind, body, and soul. All we hope is that by listening to this episode we can save some of you the mental anguish we experienced as we suffered for our art by saying the word chicken more times than the human brain was ever designed to process. So tread carefully, but do still listen to us unravel as we uncover the dark secrets of the town of Brewster and the mysteries it hides under its exterior. After the past year, one would have hoped this month would have started 2021 off better in the grand scheme of things. However, at least we can say we are starting the year off right on our show by taking a look at the exceedingly fun time that is Jump In! While it is definitely a movie that doesn’t take a ton of risks with its plot, it makes up for it with solid music, great chemistry, and plenty of that sweet double dutch action that just never gets old. Oh yeah, there is also some boxing in there for some reason but don’t let that ruin all that other good stuff for you.
Luke gets nauseous from the camera and is always in Corbin’s Corner. Emma can’t stand the narration and won’t be steamrolled.

While we certainly hope the new year will be full of change for all of us, our last episode of the year has us treading some very familiar ground. A high schooler discovering a new passion that changes them, their new passion conflicting with their previous one, their relationship with a parent evolving in unexpected ways, and of course: hockey. You’d think rehashing these concepts would make for an easy, if rather by-the-numbers, DCOM. For some reason however, this movie decided to try movie so many other things it ended up a bit messier than it needed to be. Go Figure.

After a rather difficult year for basically the entire world, we wanted to escape into something a bit more magical. Luckily for us, Disney Channel made a whole TV show about a Wizard family in an entire magical world that got so popular they gave it a whole movie! So join us as we head down to Waverly Place and….what’s that? Oh. I’ve just been informed that the majority of this movie completely removes the family from their established setting and characters to have them go on vacation. How original. I’m sure this won’t feel like an entirely out of continuity side story at all.

A movie full of…uh…umm…okay so to be honest with you, this movie ended up being far less Halloweeny than we were led to believe. It is a bit more focused on being a whodunit than putting out those spooky vibes. However, we are happy to report that it is also about an absolute legend named Movie Mason who has the entire world wrapped around his finger…and some other things too.

It is not only tied to a feature film, but by many metrics is not a Disney Channel Original Movie! However, since it bears the title, we traveled to the kingdom of Corona (yikes) to go on an all setup no payoff adventure with Rapunzel in Tangled: Before Ever After.

Okay I’ll be real, the sport this movie focuses on doesn’t really photograph well and was kind of difficult to grasp the mechanics of. While the racing might fall a bit flat, the romance can be disappointing, and the pacing is crazy, it can be hard to notice all that when you’re focused on staying Right on Track!

So certainly, Disney Channel’s own superhero movie Up, Up, and Away! will be a slam dunk! What’s that? The superheroes have no urgency to help people, the budget is so low they can’t really show cool powers, and the costumes are so bad it hurts the eyes? Well, uh, with any luck an under-aged superhero will be around to electroshock the bad memories of this film from my brain and just leave the stuff we thought was fun. Like the foil thing! That was fun, right? Or was it a cheap workaround? Hmmmm….

Yup, this is a bad one folks, so bad that by the end we are basically just praying for the chance to kill one of the main characters with our bare hands.

We decided to take a trip down to a confusingly located island this April, by which I mean we watched A Ring of Endless Light.
