Today our host Tiberia Di Maggio talks with Lynch Sariola. Born and raised in Rome, Italy with Philippine origins. She studies International Business and is looking to add a minor in Entrepreneurship. Lynch took part in the ENLUS (English Language For University Studies) program before starting as a full time undergraduate student. She is heavily involved in the community being on the board of multiple clubs.

JCU English Professor Carlos Dews recently presented his latest book "Hush" along with alumna Marialaura Grandolfo (Class of 2017). In the presentation, Professor Dews reads some excerpts directly from his book and discusses them along with Marialura. The event was hosted by the JCU Alumni Association, The Institue for Creative Writing & Literary Translation, and John Cabot University. John Cabot University hosted an online roundtable on the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the UN Agency of the World Food Programme to celebrate the effort of two JCU alumni working in the organization. The event, organized by the JCU Alumni Association and the Guarini Institute for Public Affairs, was moderated by the Permanent Secretariat of the World Summit Nobel Peace Laureates, Livia Malcangio.
Two JCU alumni, Ryan Anderson (class of 2001), Country Director of the WFP Uganda, and Michela Cristiani (class of 2014), Program Policy Officer at WFP participated in the round table together with JCU Professor and Director of the Guarini Institute Federigo Argentieri and JCU Professor Silvia Scarpa. JCU President Franco Pavoncello gave a welcome and introduced the participants.

Professor Della Ratta is an Associate Professor of Communications and Media Studies at John Cabot University and has a background in Media Studies with a specialization in Arabic-speaking media. From 2007 until 2011 she lived in Damascus and carried out an extensive media ethnography of Syrian TV series which became the topic of her Ph.D. research, obtained from the University of Copenhagen in 2013.
She is a former Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Copenhagen and at the Annenberg School for Communication, Pennsylvania University, and an Affiliate of the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University.

In this episode, listen to DS Admissions Counselor and John Cabot University alumnus Giovanni Raguso (Class of 2019) interview JCU degree-seeking student and artist Giggs Kgole (Class of 2022).
JCU Art History student and artist Giggs Kgole has been selected as one of 13 African artists to be featured in the Say My Name exhibition, which will be held from October 27 to November 28, 2020, at the Signature African Art gallery in London. Organized to commemorate Black History Month in the United Kingdom, the exhibition will be presented by American filmmaker Ava DuVernay and curated by gallery director Khalil Akar.
Inspired by DuVernay’s Netflix documentary 13th (2016), the exhibition will showcase works that portray the Black experience in the United States, United Kingdom, and Africa, highlighting the social and racial issues in each continent. Say My Name is dedicated to connecting African artists with the history of the diaspora in Europe and America. For the exhibition, each artist created works inspired by Black history and racial struggles, while paying tribute to prominent Black figures. Among the works that will be showcased are portraits of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, victims of police brutality in the United States.
The Signature African Art Gallery has committed to donating its share of proceeds from the sales of the portraits to their respective families. The gallery will also donate 40 percent of the proceeds to DuVernay’s Law Enforcement Accountability Project (LEAP), a fund focused on empowering activists to tell stories of police abuse and violence through various narrative art forms.

Lenora Biche (Class of 2021) is a Business Administration student from Bamenda, Cameroon. The entrepreneurship classes that Lenora took at JCU inspired her to launch BICHEdesigns, a clothing brand that mixes street fashion with African traditional fabrics. Lenora is passionate about education, style, fashion, and youth empowerment.

The Bachelor of Arts in Communications is a rigorous, multi-disciplinary program designed to give students the analytical, critical, and creative skills that are fundamental to any career in the information age. The major provides students with superior skills in oral and written proficiency to excel in the creation, dissemination, and analysis of messages. In addition, the program is dedicated to integrating technology in its instruction and incorporating international contexts for the study of communications, so as to prepare students for an increasingly global industry.
The Bachelor of Arts in Psychological Science provides a solid base for the scientific study of individual and group behavior and mental processes within a liberal arts curriculum. It allows students to gain the discipline-specific knowledge essential to pursue further studies in Psychology and related fields (e.g., social work, education, business). It also allows students to develop and hone interpersonal, analytical, quantitative, and communications skills that can be employed in a variety of domains, from social services to science journalism, to sales and advertising.
The organized study of literature written in the English language has long proved its worth as a traditional discipline that exercises the imagination, encourages intellectual precision, and inculcates a critical appreciation of humane, liberal values.
