All the world's a talking stage: Recent Episodes

BROOKE LIM

Brooke's a listener. She listens to people talk and she also has a lot to talk about. That's why she's talking here, for great lengths, about her life, once a week — even if she finds extreme measures towards permanence terrifying, even if she prefers conversation to remain ethereal, prone to dissipation. (She talks about stepping outside her comfort zone. That's why she's doing this)

I've been talking about it in class, now I'm talking about it on my podcast. Seriously I do believe that the world would be a much more beautiful place if we all had some form of creative outlet. Which is why I'm working towards it, every single day, and why I'm a huge advocate for creativity. It's a gift. Even this episode is the child of a moment of creativity. I hope you find something to love about it :")

Exactly what the title says — a lot of self doubt & feeling like an imposter when it comes to school, personal life & working relationships. This adulting thing is so difficult. Seriously. Except very rarely do I actually feel like an adult. I'm too busy fretting over minor blips in my existence (white pages, an essay, a lunch out with my friends). Plus the whole rosy & not-so-rosy side of social media and HOW IT HAS MESSED WITH MY PERCEPTION OF REALITY and, you guessed it, fed my self-doubt and imposter syndrome. Very interesting stuff.

People pleasing — why I struggle with it, why 2022 is the year I tackle my people-pleasing tendencies, how I'm going about doing it. Spoiler alert: I haven't succeeded but at least I'm making progress. Cheer to that, and cheers to every incremental bit of self-growth.

Brooke doesn't understand social media. If it isn't obvious enough from the episode title, she's lost, bamboozled, confused, flabbergasted. Social media is so multifaceted a concept that she, a newbie to the scene, is still trying to figure out. Its positive and negative and ambiguous implications mean that everyone's experience is a necessary continuum — not a b&w dichotomy. Maybe you can find some comfort in this episode. <3
