Startling stat - that before the 2002 plays offs, we'd only been in the top ten in Championship ONCE in 6 seasons. Crazy - that's why you can never let it get that bad again! We kick off the new memorable matches feature with the 2002 play offs! And we also look at latest Norwich City news including the new kit (whatever!), and start worrying about the the lack of goals already! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The fixtures are out! Best time of the year isn't it? Not so says Dad, with Stuart Webber still in his role. Shouldn't he be on gardening leave? We look at some of the big challenges to come on the pitch for City this coming season 2023/24. And we've completed our greatest ever managers, PL squad, Team and never eleven! So we're starting a brand new discussion on 'memorable matches' - we'd love to hear from you! We're John Cushing and Peter Cushing on social media! Learn more about your ad choices. On reflection, has anything changed at the football club? We knew Stuart Webber's time was up. Now he's confirmed he's leaving but when? Why are we waiting? Because effectively we don't have anyone to run the club. That emotional statement from Delia and Michael was so insightful - it shows there's no one in charge of that club and 28 years is too long time to be there! Also, in episode 45, we confirm our greatest NEVER Eleven again - yep we made a deliberate mistake honest! Listen to find out! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Marvellous comeback win over Millwall and into the play off places!

Seems like Wagner's work is paying off for City.

And we pay tribute to Robert Chase - former club chairman - who passed away last week.

What. A. Strike. Incredible. But we've been here before and it seems that we're getting slightly carried away. We beat Birmingham a poor team. With a wonder goal that changed everything. Without it? Who knows?

John thinks the whole feeling of the club at the moment is a bit desperate. Desperate to to be loved. Desperate for it to work. Desperate for Wagner to be the one. Aren't we kidding ourselves?

In Episode 38 we also talk strikers and two of our greatest from the 90s in Sutton and Robins - but Peter thinks one of them might not make the final 20!! Seriously!!!

After we crashed back to earth and out of the play offs with a bump against Burnley, it seems pretty clear that we need to improve our home form and quickly! With 5 games coming up for the rest of the shortest month of the year we have to win 4 or 5 of them if we're going to be in the play off mix this season (and also because they're clubs in the bottom half of the table!)

David Wagner has a clear way of playing - he also has a clear decision to make - that Angus Gunn should be back in goal too!

This is the New Old Norwich, the podcast that's more steady on than splendid rush, and we also talk about City's greatest ever strikers from the 1980s!

2 league games, twice scoring 4 goals, back in the top 6? Could it have gone any better for David Wagner replacing Dean Smith at Carrow Road?

Not sure even Stuart Webber would've have dreamt two away wins and now another fortnight to work together as a team before the big boys of Burnley come into town!

This episode 36 of the New Old Norwich - and after a World Cup, Christmas, Sackings hiatus - the Greatest ever countdown is back - with the strikers!

"Don't look too far ahead" says the new manager of Norwich City David Wagner - a sort of coming home for the ex-Huddersfield boss, who's once again teaming up with Stuart Webber and others to try and get a Championship club back into the Premier League.

But without a win in 4 and yet another home defeat against Blackburn in the FA Cup at the weekend, where's the first win coming from and how?

We look ahead to what's hopefully a better year than 2022 for City!

We called for it two months ago, and finally the axe has been wielded by Webber. Dean Smith has gone with Norwich City still aiming for promotion this season despite being nearer the bottom 3 than the top 2!

In this emergency edition of the podcast, we discuss the past 12 months, review the candidate list and ask what's next for Stuart Webber and our Carrow Rd Club.

Oh and Happy New Year (hopefully!)

They used to say a day's a long time in politics, but it seems the same for football as the most pessimistic Norwich fan I know and love as reversed his decision about Dean Smith!

After 7 points from 9, Dad (@PeterCushing1) says he's feeling positive and hopeful for City as we approach the last game against Middlesbrough before the World Cup.

I simply can't believe it and entirely disagree! (@johncushing_)

During this podcast, Peter Cushing looks back at the stats from 17 games in after relegation under the Neils - Alex and Adams. With the annual report showing some worrying stats in it too, he looks at what happened after the Nigel Worthington relegation.

Have a listen but let us tell you it's not looking good for Dean Smith or Norwich City.

So we think it's now time to act, time to hear from Mark Attanasio, and time to look forward before the season, even with a World Cup break, passes us by.

And in our countdown of the Greatest ever NCFC XI, we finish our central midfield selections!

8 games to come in October - 5 away and 3 at home - with second placed Norwich City unbeaten in their last 8 games, with 7 wins and only 2 defeats all season. What's there to worry about?

Where was the flowing football against West Brom and Bristol City? Even Deano admitted it wasn't good enough in front of the Carrow Rd faithful!

The next month after this strangely timed international break (oh year there's a World Cup to come this winter!) will be absolutely crucial.

Talking of crucial, @PeterCushing1 delivers on the Ian Crook stats, as our Greatest ever Norwich City team continues to discuss central midfielders!

It's early days, it's August, remember Farke - yep we get it but sitting rock bottom of the Championship the next 4 days with 2 homes games against Huddersfield and Millwall seem pretty crucial!

As Dad correctly highlights the club isn't in the same position now - off the field there's uncertainty about the future and on it there doesn't seem to be a clear way of playing?

And it's episode 24 of the podcast, and we're onto the Ken Brown era of the discussion about our greatest central midfielders...

And we're onto number 2s and 3s for the greatest ever City countdown!

Awful way to end the season, that's let's be honest as been as painful if not more so than our previous 4 relegations under in 1995, ten years later with Worthy, and more recently Hughton, Neil and Farke.

What next? Automatic return doesn't feel very likely with this squad of players and what about the manager? The Performance Director? The club itself and the owners? Big questions for a big summer for City!

As we're the New Old Norwich - we also focus on some good times - and name the greatest centre back partnership ready for our team of NCFC legends!!

This podcast is called the new old Norwich! But we don't want that Norwich back! Dad (Peter) called it 'grim' after another blank, boring, hanging on by a thread against a team that had lost their last six games too. Do we want to stay up?

A worldy one handed save from Tim Krul in the draw with Brighton - brings us very nicely onto the start of our new countdown - the greatest goalkeepers - and in the end we want to come up with a NCFC Dream Team/Squad to keep us in the Premier League - that would be a dream!
