After a long ministry as a Baptist preacher Wain Myers and his family joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In February 2014 Wain began sharing his conversion story on his blog From Baptist Preacher to Mormon Teacher. Wain and his beautiful wife Sebrina are the proud parents of 7 wonderful children. Their family continues to be active  in the LDS church, Wain currently serves on the High Council and Sebrina as Relief Society President.

The film seeks to shed light on one of the state’s smallest racial groups. The latest census shows African-Americans make up less than two-percent of Utah’s population. The hope is to find out who makes up this two-percent; where they came from; why they stay in Utah; and to take a look at how we define Blackness in America. The Mormon people witnessed it, felt it, and absorbed it. But for the Mormon people, racism was also a conscious decision—and one that exacted a heavy toll during their epoch in the wilderness.

Joan Trumpauer Mulholland participated in one of the most famous and violent sit-ins of the Civil Rights Movement at the Jackson Woolworth lunch counter. She has come face-to-face with the KKK, was put on death row in Mississippi’s notorious Parchman Penitentiary with fellow Freedom Riders, and helped plan and organize the March on Washington. Following in his mother's footsteps, Loki Mulholland creates films that make a difference in the world. Joan and Loki founded the JTM Foundation, a non-profit organization that educates youth about the Civil Rights Movement and empowers them with the idea that they can make a difference. 36 years ago today on June 8, 1978, The Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints restored the Priesthood to Black Latter-day Saints. At the beginning of LDS Chruch history Elijah Abel and other black Mormons held the LDS priesthood. After Joseph Smith died a policy was instuted restricting anyone of African decent from using the priesthood if they had already been ordained or being ordained if they had not. In 1978 then President of the LDS Church, Spencer W. Kimball announced that all worthy men would hold the priesthood. In December 2013 the LDS Church further dispelled common myths and rationalizations for the policy against blacks in the Chruch. Tune in as the Sistas commemorate this long awaited day with a special focus on the impact the priesthood ban had on Black Mormon women.

Today is National Cancer Survivors Day, a celebration of the lives of of all for all people living with a history of cancer – including America’s nearly 14 million cancer survivors! Join the Sistas as the sit down with cancer survivor and first-time author Sarah Beard. Four years ago, Sarah wasn't sure her dream of writing a book would come to pass after being diagnosed with an aggressive type of breast cancer. Her debut novel, "Porcelain Keys" was released in February and she is now cancer free!

After public outcry against Bundy, militia groups stood beside him including African-American, Missouri Citzen Militia member and former Marine, Charlie Delta.

In 1998 Travis Tuttle along with his companion Andrew Propst were kidnapped and held for ransom in Russia while serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their inspiring story has been depicted in the award winning movie The Saratov Approach.

Award-winning filmmaker Loki Mulholland, chronicles Joan's Civil Rights Activism, including the famous sit-in at Woolworths, being the first white person to attend the Historically Black College Tougaloo, and her work with Civil Rights Leaders Dr. Martin Luther King and Medgar Evers. Also, today marks 50 years to the day of the tragic 16th Street Baptist Church bombing, which took the lives of 4 innocent girls. Joan was there and will share how this tragedy impacted America, as well as changed her life forever. Yeah Samake: Mitt Romney isn't the only Mormon running for president, Yeah Samake is hoping to become the president of his home country of Mali and make a change. In 2009 he ran for mayor of Ouélessébougou, and was elected with 86% of the vote. Yeah met his wife Marissa Coutinho while they were both students at BYU, they have two children. Jenna Kim Jones: She's female, she's funny and she's also a Mormon, proving the Sistas theory that the LDS know how to jest.  After 8 years in NYC, Jenna recently moved to LA. She's appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, sung numerous commercial jingles and performs regularly at some of the country's best comedy clubs and festivals.

Voices of Courage: Carly Ostler of BYU Women's Services will be schooling the Sistas and listeners on Voices of Courage, the campaign, it's mission and how we all can get involved. Voices of Courage is a prevention campaign built upon the premise that each of us can have an impact on the amount of violence in our culture. Each of us can make small behavioral choices that contribute to a more responsive environment that would ultimately and measurable reduce violence. Mariama Kallon: Raised in a country ravaged by civil war, Mariama Kallon narrowly escaped torture by murderous rebel forces. After losing her entire family and everything she owned, she was guided to safety as she found refuge with a Latter-day Saint family in her native Sierra Leone. Touched by the teachings of the Restoration, and full of gratitude for all the Lord had done for her, Mariama wanted to wear her own missionary nametag. With barely a single change of clothes and a Church-sent hygiene kit as her only worldly possessions, she made the trek to the United States and began a full-time mission on Temple Square.

Happy Mother's Day! Our special guests include: Lola Parker- You might know her as Jabari Parker's mother, but we know her as much, much more. She's a wife, working Mother of four (Christian, Iman, Tilah and Jabari), active in her faith and doing her best to raise her children on the South Side of Chicago. Lola will share her unique experiences and she won't be sugar coating it because Lola always keeps it real!  Katie Byrge- She's a wife, Mother and RN. While her children and spouse always make the holiday a hit for her, recently losing her Mother, Sally Ball Vranes to cancer has changed how she celebrates Mother's Day. Her Mother's only daughter, Katie will be on with 6 year old Brittea, her only daughter, as they share ways to honor Mothers who have passed on. They'll also be talking with special guests Millie Dadson who attended the conference as well. Millie is a wife, mother; graduate of Utah Valley University and was born and raised in Ghana.  Sista Mille was a 2012 BYU Women's Conference Presenter and spoke on Avoidingthe Entitlement Trap.Entitlement is generally selfish. It demands much, and it gives little or nothing. It's very concept causes us to seek to elevate ourselves above those around us." (Elder Dallin H. Oaks) Sistas in Zion Radio feels blessed and highly favored to be speaking with special guest Kendra Bybee on today's show also. At the age of 25 Kendra Bybee became a young stroke survivor. She'll talk about how her stroke has given her a new outlook on life, the role her faith plays as she tries to savor each and every experience and her work on her blog Stroked to Life.

Christian & Jabari Parker are brothers from the South Side of Chicago who have been inseparable since their brotherhood came to be. Not only do they share a love of basketball, but also a love and devotion to their faith as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They'll holla at the Sistas & listeners on faith and their unique life experiences. Christian now lives in Seattle and plans on attending the University of Washington. Growing up on the South Side of Chicago, he overcame many obstacles in making his way to serving a full-time LDS mission in Atlanta, Georgia. He remains strong in the LDS Church, and plays a key role in his sibling’s lives through his example and experiences. Jabari is currently a junior in high school and is listed as the #1 High School Basketball player in the country. He is being recruited by all of the top college basketball programs throughout the country. He is an active member of the Hyde Park Ward in Chicago, attending early-morning Seminary regularly. Despite all of the attention he receives for his basketball talent, Jabari continues to stay humble and devout in his responsibilities as an Aaronic Priesthood holder in the LDS faith.
