Bryan Colbert Jr. is back on Bleav in Nebraska to get Husker Nation ready for the biggest football season yet under Matt Rhule. With fall camp underway, Nebraska is talking competition, physical growth, depth, and a team that Rhule says looks bigger, leaner, and different.
Bryan breaks down why Nebraska’s offseason gains have to turn into September execution, what Anthony Colandrea brings to the quarterback room, and why the Huskers need steady command instead of reckless hero ball. The episode also dives into Jacory Barney Jr. being named to the Paul Hornung Award Watch List as one of college football’s most versatile players, plus Justin Evans landing on the Rimington Trophy Watch List as one of the top centers in the country.
The hype is here. Now Nebraska has to prove it.

Then we hit recruiting — Nebraska’s push up front and why “building in the trenches” is the clearest sign of where this program is headed.
And we close with Husker heartbreak, reflecting on a historic softball run and what it meant for the state, the standard, and what comes next.

Husker Nation, we’ve got a celebration episode! Nebraska basketball just made history — the Huskers are in the Sweet 16 for the first time ever after a wild finish vs Vanderbilt, and now they’ve got a familiar opponent up next. We preview the matchup, revisit past meetings, and talk what Nebraska has to do to keep the run alive. Plus: Spring Game this Saturday with QB eyes on Anthony Colandrea, and Nebraska adds a speed weapon to the 2027 class with Miami Palmetto WR Kaden Howard committing.

Nebraska hoops ended the regular season with an OT win over Iowa — a game that shouldn’t have been that close, but the Huskers showed toughness and chemistry when it mattered most. We break down the slow start, the glaring lack of size, why Rienk Mast has to be more consistent, and how the OT finish can translate to tournament basketball.
And here’s the big part: with that win, Nebraska finishes No. 2 in the Big Ten and locks up a double-bye — massive in a conference this deep.
Then we switch gears to spring football. Nebraska just held a 150-play scrimmage, and both coordinators had strong notes — especially about Anthony Colandrea’s mobility and pace, plus defensive transfers standing out as Rob Aurich installs his scheme. We’ll also look ahead to the Red-White Spring Game on March 30, 2026.
To close it out: Bleav It or Not — Fred Hoiberg should win Big Ten Coach of the Year after what he’s done with this program.

Husker Nation… I’m gonna keep it real — I’m HOT after Nebraska’s ugly loss to an unranked UCLA team. The Huskers shot 38.8% and went 5-of-24 from three, and the slow-start problem is officially costing them. We break down what it means with one regular-season game left, and how it impacts Nebraska’s fight for a top-4 Big Ten spot and double-bye. We also hit women’s hoops after a brutal Big Ten tourney loss to Indiana, and what that does to Nebraska’s NCAA tournament hopes. Then we close with football: why the media is being critical of Emmett Johnson’s combine, why I think it’s overblown, and why Nebraska Pro Day (March 25) is HUGE for his draft stock.

We start with Nebraska men’s basketball coming through with another big one — a statement road win at USC 82–67, led by Pryce Sandfort dropping 32 as the Huskers pulled away with a dominant second half. We talk about the two truths that keep showing up: when Nebraska locks in defensively for 40 minutes, the ceiling changes — and this team has become elite at separating after halftime. But we also address the concern: another slow start. Down at the half again is playing with fire, and that can’t be the habit if you’re trying to make a real run in March. Plus, we look ahead to the next one: Nebraska vs UCLA on Tuesday.
Then we give the Lady Huskers their flowers after a regular-season finale blowout — Nebraska rolled Rutgers 93–52, and Britt Prince flirted with a triple-double: 14 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists. That’s the kind of “enter March with confidence” performance you want.
To close, we pivot to football with Husker representation at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine. Emmett Johnson showed out with a 4.56 in the 40 on his second attempt, plus a strong 10-yard split, a 35.5-inch vertical, and a 10-foot broad jump. And DeShon Singleton went limited but made it count — a 39.5-inch vertical and 10’10” broad, numbers that highlight real explosiveness as he heads toward Nebraska’s Pro Day on March 25.

We start with a full Huskers vs Maryland recap, and the headline is simple: Nebraska is finally stacking the kind of performances we’ve been begging for. The Huskers played great team basketball in the first half, got off to a fast start, and set the tone defensively by making every look difficult for Maryland. Then they came out even stronger after halftime — a better second half, even more connected defense, and the kind of game where you could feel Nebraska imposing its will.
But to take the next step, we’ve got to talk about the interior. Nebraska needs more from Rienk Mast — more consistency, less foul trouble, and more of that “star power” we know he has. If he becomes a steady two-way presence, it raises the ceiling of this team in March.
Then we flip over to football because spring training started this week, and the storyline is wide open.

Husker Nation, welcome in to another episode of the Bleav in Nebraska Podcast — I’m your host Bryan Colbert Jr.
We open with Nebraska hoops suffering another tough loss to a ranked opponent — an overtime loss to Purdue — and the frustrating part is the same themes we’ve been calling out all season showed up again: a slow start, losing the rebounding battle, foul trouble, and not getting to the free-throw line enough. Nebraska did fight back in the second half to force OT, but once you get to overtime, the margin is thin — and Purdue won the glass when it mattered most. We also talk about Rienk Mast fouling out, why it hurt, and how Nebraska’s lack of size in the paint keeps getting exposed. With only seven games left, it’s officially cleanup time — because these mistakes can’t keep repeating.
Then we shift to Husker football as Nebraska announces the Spring Game will be in March and tickets are officially on sale — we’ll hit what that means for fans and the early storylines heading into spring ball.
To close the show, we bring back one of your favorite segments: Bleav It or Not — will Anthony Colandrea win the starting QB job in 2026? ESPN’s projection has him starting the opener, but Nebraska’s QB battle with TJ Lateef is going to be one of the biggest storylines of the offseason.

HUSKER NATION — welcome in to another episode of the Bleav in Nebraska Podcast!
We start with a surprising staff twist: Nebraska’s new safeties coach Miles Taylor is leaving for the Baltimore Ravens before he even coaches a game in Lincoln. We break down what it means for Matt Rhule and DC Rob Aurich, why NFL opportunities move that fast, and how Nebraska responds to keep continuity on defense.
Then we flip the energy with a big recruiting win: 4-star DT Dylan Berymon commits to Nebraska’s 2026 class. We talk why adding talent inside the defensive line is such a huge deal in the Big Ten and why Berymon fits the identity Aurich wants to build.
We close with Husker hoops — back-to-back losses to Michigan and Illinois, what went wrong (especially on the glass and at the free-throw line), and why Rutgers is the perfect “reset” game before a major showdown against No. 12 Purdue led by senior guard Braden Smith. Stay tuned for a Husker Hoops Pregame Show next.

HUSKER NATION… WELCOME IN to another episode of the Bleav in Nebraska Podcast — I’m your host Bryan Colbert Jr., and we’ve got MAJOR news tonight.
Men’s Hoops: Nebraska is TOP FIVE (20–0!)It finally happened — Nebraska men’s basketball has officially cracked the Top 5 after starting the season 20–0, climbing to a program-best No. 5 in the AP Poll. We spend time on what this means for the program, why this run feels different, and how Nebraska’s identity has been built in real time:
We also revisit the last big win from this week: Nebraska’s 76–57 road win at Minnesota, powered by a monster second half and a two-way statement from Pryce Sandfort (22 points, 10 rebounds, 4 blocks) — including 20 of his points after halftime. That game was another reminder that Nebraska can win away from Lincoln and still control the terms.
The moment is HERE: No. 5 Nebraska vs No. 3 MichiganAnd now… the game we’ve been waiting for. Top-five showdown. Big Ten supremacy on the line. Nebraska heads to Ann Arbor to face No. 3 Michigan — a measuring-stick game that can define the national perception of this team and the trajectory of the season. We break down what Nebraska has to do to keep making history and how the Huskers can win this game on the road in one of the toughest environments they’ll see all year.
Women’s Hoops: Bounce-back win mattersWe also hit a quick but important women’s hoops update:
That Illinois win matters because it kept Nebraska from spiraling after a tough road loss — you protected home floor, stabilized, and kept momentum intact.
Football: Recruiting + roster lensThen we pivot to football with a recruiting storyline fans can actually see:
It’s a real “pipeline” headline — and it keeps Millard South in the spotlight as Nebraska builds the future in-state. We also keep the portal talk clean and responsible: the roster is close to set, now it’s about development, fit, and turning recruiting momentum into a clear on-field identity heading into 2026.
Close / TeaseSo that’s the last six days: men’s hoops to No. 5 and headed into a top-five showdown, women’s hoops with a bounce-back win, and football with a recruiting headline that’s turning Millard South into must-watch territory.

WELCOME IN HUSKER NATION to another episode of the Bleav in Nebraska Podcast — I’m your host Bryan Colbert Jr., and this is your Nebraska Basketball Pregame Show!
The 18–0 Huskers are back home tonight at Pinnacle Bank Arena getting set to take on a 10–8 Washington team that’s been up and down in Big Ten play — but don’t get it twisted: the Huskies have a physical frontcourt and a freshman star who can turn this into a grind if Nebraska isn’t sharp early.
Top StorylineEveryone expects Nebraska’s historic run to continue… but Washington brings a “Big Ten-style” toughness, and if Nebraska lets them hang around, this game can get uncomfortable late. That’s why tonight is about starting strong, defending with purpose, and dictating tempo.
BC’s 3 Keys to Victory1) GET OFF TO A FAST START
Nebraska has been an elite second-half team — but if this group wants to level up, it has to stop letting teams breathe early. Find the shooters, make shots, and keep that defense locked in. If Nebraska builds an early lead, Washington doesn’t have the firepower to chase it.
2) SLOW DOWN THEIR STAR FRESHMAN: HANNES STEINBACH
Steinbach has been Washington’s bright spot — a legit double-double threat who can score and rebound at a high level. This is a major test for Nebraska’s interior, and a matchup that should bring out the best in Rienk Mast. The goal: keep Steinbach out of easy post touches, make him finish over bodies, and dare him into the kinds of perimeter looks you can live with.
3) PROTECT THE BASKETBALL
Great teams value possessions — and Nebraska’s identity is built on clean offense, low turnovers, and turning teams over on the other end. If Nebraska takes care of the ball and forces Washington into mistakes, the shot volume and shot quality will tilt hard toward the Huskers.

WELCOME IN, HUSKER NATION!
On today’s episode of Bleav in Nebraska, we’re keeping it tight and current with everything that’s happened since last Thursday — and we start with the headline the whole country is finally screaming:
NEBRASKA IS UP TO A PROGRAM-BEST NO. 7 IN THE AP TOP 25.
That jump comes right after a dominant road win at Northwestern where the Huskers handled business from start to finish.
Husker Heat Check: Nebraska stays PERFECT
Nebraska crushed Northwestern 77–58 to move to 18–0 overall and 7–0 in Big Ten play — and it didn’t feel fluky or fragile. It felt controlled.
The biggest takeaway? 18–0 isn’t just historic — it’s starting to look repeatable. This team is showing week-to-week consistency, toughness, and the ability to win games without needing a miracle finish. Football: Staff hires + QB competition vibes
Then we pivot to football as Matt Rhule continues the build toward 2026 with official defensive staff moves:
This is the foundation phase — if Nebraska gets stronger in the trenches and cleaner on the back end, everything else gets easier. And we close with a big QB note: Anthony Colandrea (new transfer QB) toured the football facilities — and the important part isn’t just the visit, it’s what it represents: real QB competition and a clear signal that Nebraska is serious about upgrading the room and raising the floor heading into next season.
We’ll keep tracking what these staff hires mean for recruiting momentum and what the defensive identity looks like as this roster continues to take shape.

Husker Nation… welcome in!
We’ve got a packed, current episode with ONLY the latest news since Monday — and it starts with the biggest football domino of the week: Dylan Raiola is reportedly transferring to Oregon. We react in real time to what that means for Dylan, what it means for Nebraska’s immediate future, and how quickly the landscape shifts when the portal news hits.
And almost right behind it came another major twist: Oregon’s CFP starting QB is returning — which changes the entire context of the move and sparks the obvious question: what does the timeline and path look like now?
From there, we hit Nebraska’s newest roster notes and portal updates:
Then we pivot to the best part: Husker hoops is STILL unbeaten.
No. 8 Nebraska demolished Oregon 90–55 to move to 17–0, and it wasn’t subtle — Nebraska hit a season-high 17 threes, controlled the pace, and looked every bit like a true top-10 team when the offense is humming and the defense stays locked in.
We close with a quick look-ahead to Nebraska vs Northwestern on Saturday, and we’ll tease a full pregame show — because Northwestern is still hunting for its first Big Ten win, and Nebraska has to keep stacking clean performances if this historic start is going to keep building.
Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
Husker Nation… the last few days have been a straight momentum swing.
We start with Nebraska men’s basketball staying unbeaten and proving (again) this team has real toughness. The Huskers rallied from down 16 to knock off Indiana 83–77, pushing the record to 16–0 and keeping that national buzz loud. Big-time road win, big-time resilience — and a real “we’re not panicking” identity showing up when the game gets uncomfortable.
Then we pivot to Husker football recruiting/portal news from this week only — because the roster is moving fast:
We close with the big picture: hoops is legit and built to survive adversity, and football is in the middle of a roster build that’s going to define the ceiling next season.
Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
Husker Nation… it’s go time.
We’re recapping EVERYTHING that’s happened in the last few days as Nebraska hoops keeps rolling unbeaten and gets set to close the non-con slate tonight vs New Hampshire at Pinnacle Bank Arena on BTN. The headline is simple: keep stacking wins, keep stacking respect — and if Nebraska gets to 13–0, that’s rare air for this program.
Then we flip it to football as Nebraska puts the final touches on Las Vegas Bowl prep vs No. 15 Utah at Allegiant Stadium on ESPN. We break down the biggest recent updates, including:
We close with two simple keys: protect the football + win hidden yards, and make sure the secondary communication is clean without Singleton. If Nebraska plays sharp and plays physical, they’ve got a shot to steal one and end 2025 with momentum.
Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
Husker Nation… if you’re still undefeated after a road win like THAT, you’re not a cute story anymore
In this episode of Bleav in Nebraska (headlines from Dec 12–15), we hit three big storylines:
Husker Heat Check — Statement win at No. 13 Illinois
Nebraska goes into Champaign and pulls off an 83–80 road gut-check, capped by a last-second game-winning three from Jamarques Lawrence. We break down how the Huskers survived multiple Illinois runs, what that finish says about Nebraska’s late-game execution, and whether this team is built to win ugly in Big Ten play — or if they’re simply scorching hot right now.
And we’ve got to talk about it: Pryce Sandfort drops a career-high 32 in a game that felt like a “season-defining” moment.
Nebraska Football — New staff is official + bowl prep tone
It’s official: Nebraska announces Rob Aurich as defensive coordinator and Geep Wade as offensive line coach. We discuss what kind of identity Matt Rhule is trying to build with these moves — and the one thing we need to see in the bowl game that signals this program is leveling up.
Vegas Bowl storyline — Utah’s ‘last ride’ angle
Nebraska vs Utah already mattered… but now it comes with a massive emotional storyline: Kyle Whittingham stepping down after the Las Vegas Bowl. That means Nebraska gets a chance to crash a farewell moment and make a loud statement heading into the next phase of the Rhule era.

Husker Nation… HUSKER HEAT CHECK TIME. Nebraska just routed Creighton 71–50 in Lincoln, making it three wins over the Jays in the last four years—and the momentum is getting LOUD. The Big Red is now 10–0, riding the longest active win streak in the country (13), and this start ties the best start in Nebraska men’s hoops history.
Next up? A ranked Illinois team—and that’s the kind of game that tells you exactly how real this group is. Measuring-stick vibes. No ducking smoke.
Then we flip it to football : Nebraska closes 2025 with the Las Vegas Bowl vs Utah on Dec. 31 at Allegiant Stadium (2:30 p.m. CT on ESPN). Big picture: Year 3 of the Rhule era ends with back-to-back bowl trips and real momentum. And we hit the reported staff movement—Rob Aurich (San Diego State edge coach) being linked as Nebraska’s next defensive coordinator after John Butler’s exit, plus the OL coach change with Donovan Raiola out and Geep Wade reportedly the likely replacement.
Tap in—hoops is surging, football is shifting, and Nebraska is stepping into a defining stretch.

Husker Nation — we’ve got MAJOR news out of Lincoln. ️ Nebraska’s Big Ten Running Back of the Year, Emmett Johnson, has officially declared for the 2026 NFL Draft, and his decision sends shockwaves through the Huskers’ offseason.
In this episode, I dive into why Johnson is heading to the league now, what NFL scouts love about his game, and how his breakout season shaped his draft stock. Then we turn the focus to the future: What happens to Nebraska’s running back room now? Who steps up? Which young backs have the tools to take the next jump? And does Matt Rhule need to hit the transfer portal to replace one of the most productive backs in the Big Ten?
We break down:
If you love Huskers football and want the real outlook on the 2026 backfield, this episode is for you.

Is Raiola really eyeing a jump to a CFP-ready program, or is this just rumor season doing what rumor season does? Then, we flip the lens:
After that, we hit the hardwood.

This one hurts, Husker Nation.
On Saturday night, Nebraska didn’t just lose a game — they lost their quarterback and emotional engine. Dylan Raiola is out for the season with a broken fibula. Before leaving the game, Raiola had this team up 14–6 and was pushing for another statement win.
Matt Rhule revealed after the game that Raiola tried to go back in — helmet on, begging for a chance to finish the fight — but Rhule wouldn’t risk further injury:
"I love you too much to put you back out there like this." — Matt Rhule
Raiola finishes the year throwing for 2,000 yards, 18 touchdowns, and just six interceptions, establishing himself as the future of Nebraska football.
Now, it’s NEXT MAN UP as true freshman TJ Lateef takes over.

It’s a blackout in Memorial Stadium and the world expects USC to walk in and beat Nebraska.

We kick things off by honoring a beloved Husker tradition—the annual Nebraska Football Road Race, inspired by the unforgettable Jack Hoffman run. Now over a decade strong, the race still finishes with a symbolic 69-yard stretch, just like Jack’s legendary touchdown. Over $300,000 has been raised for pediatric brain cancer research in his name.
Then, we shift to a new tradition in the making: Dylan Raiola hosted his first youth football camp in Lincoln—and he did it with class, purpose, and a strong support system. We celebrate what it means for a young QB to give back this early in his career.
In this week’s Big Red Rewind, we pull audio straight from Raiola’s camp—including some player surprises and offseason notes (yes, EJ's transformation is real 👀).
And to wrap things up in Bleav It or Not:
The Big Ten Network ranked Dylan Raiola as the No. 4 QB in the Big Ten heading into 2025. Is it too soon? Just right? And what does that say about Nebraska's ceiling this season?
All that and more on this week's Bleav in Nebraska.
