Fear is something we all face...especially when we’re stepping into something new.
In this episode of The Wherever You Go Podcast, I’m joined by Kent Chevelier, chaplain for the Pittsburgh Steelers and author of the upcoming book Do It Afraid.
While Kent has spent years walking alongside athletes in high-pressure environments, this conversation centers on his own journey, moving from comfort into the unknown and choosing obedience even when fear was present.
We talk about obedience, calling, and what it really looks like to trust God when the next step feels uncertain.
If you’re standing at the edge of something new or maybe something that's not new, but that has been pressing on your heart for years, this episode will remind you that you don’t have to be fearless to move forward, you just have to be willing.

Owning a business is hard, even (and sometimes especially) when it’s part of God’s calling. In this episode, Sam encourages business owners not to trust their feelings when doubt creeps in. Just because you feel like you’re failing doesn’t mean you are. We talk about why our emotions can mislead us, how Scripture anchors us in truth, and what it looks like to lean on God when the weight of leadership feels heavy. If you’ve been questioning your capability, your calling, or whether you should keep going, this conversation is for you.In This Episode:•Why feelings are real but unreliable•What Scripture says about our hearts and emotions•Why hardship doesn’t mean you missed God•How mistakes shape growth and perseverance•What it looks like to rely on God instead of yourselfScriptures referenced:Jeremiah 17:9, John 16:33, James 1:2–4, 2 Corinthians 12:9, Galatians 6:9 (NIV)
We’ve all heard the quote that you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with and it’s true. The people closest to us shape our habits, our mindset, our values, and our character. In this episode, Sam shares why Christians not only need to surround themselves with wise and successful people, but especially with successful Christians whose lives reflect integrity, humility, and obedience to God.She also reminds listeners that the most important relationship of all is the one we have with the Lord. If we want to become more like Christ, we must intentionally spend time with Him in Scripture, prayer, worship, and stillness.Key Scriptures:Proverbs 13:201 Corinthians 15:33John 15:4–5🎧 Listen now and consider: Who are the five voices shaping your life…and is God one of them?
Many people ask how to “incorporate faith into business,” but in this episode, Sam shares a foundational truth: we don’t add faith to our work, we bring our work into our faith. We are not business owners who love God. We are children of God who happen to own businesses.Sam encourages listeners to see their identity as sons and daughters first, remembering that the Holy Spirit doesn’t clock out when we clock in. Our work becomes a place to reflect God’s love, character, and integrity, not a place to use Christianity as a marketing strategy.Instead of trying to put God into our business, we’re called to simply live as who we already are , people filled with the Spirit of God, wherever we go.Key Scriptures:•1 John 3:1•Galatians 2:20•Colossians 3:23–24•John 13:35•1 Corinthians 3:6–7🎧 Listen now and be encouraged to live as a child of God first, in business, leadership, and all of life.
In a world where so many people feel unseen and alone, a simple smile or moment of eye contact can make a powerful difference. In this episode, Sam shares how choosing to see others reflects the heart of God, the God who sees us.She also reminds listeners that our relationship with God isn’t just about being known by Him, but also about getting to know Him. The more we learn who He is, the more clearly we discover who we are in Him.Key Scriptures:•Genesis 16:13 “You are the God who sees me.”•Psalm 139:1–4 “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.”•John 10:14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me.”🎧 Listen now and be encouraged to slow down, see others the way God does, and find joy in truly knowing Him.
In this episode, Sam shares how God used her first year in business to teach her three best practices that continue to shape her life and leadership:1.Resilience – Keep showing up and trust God, even when it’s hard.2.Rest – Protect what matters most and honor the boundaries God calls you to.3.Relationships – Love people well and trust that God has the right ones lined up for you. You’ll hear real stories about learning to trust God in difficult seasons, finding peace in rest, and building genuine connections in business. If you’ve ever wondered how to stay faithful and grounded when life feels heavy, this message will remind you that your job is obedience, and the outcome belongs to Him.
We live in a world where everything has to be earned: success, approval, even love. But grace doesn’t work that way. God’s grace is a gift we could never earn and don’t deserve. In this episode, Sam shares how striving to earn God’s love misses the beauty of His unearned grace. She also reminds listeners that our view of God is often shaped by our earthly fathers, but God is not a bigger version of our dad. He is perfect in love, mercy, and compassion, and His grace is unlike anything else we’ll ever experience.Key Scriptures:•Ephesians 2:8–9: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.”•Titus 3:5: “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.”•Psalm 103:13: “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.”🎧 Listen now and be reminded: God’s grace can’t be earned, only received.
Our culture is obsessed with self-help, believing that if you try harder, manifest more, or believe in yourself enough, you’ll find confidence, growth, and success. But Scripture shows us a different way.In this episode, Sam unpacks why self-help is no help at all, and why self-sacrifice, through humility and obedience, is the way of Christ. The Christian life is about emptying ourselves so that we can be filled with the Holy Spirit, who equips us to walk in God’s strength instead of our own. You’ll learn what it looks like to surrender your marriage, family, career, and success to God’s hands, and be challenged to reflect on the parts of your heart that need to be laid down at the cross.Key Scriptures:•Luke 9:23 — “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”•Philippians 2:3–7 — “Christ Jesus… made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant.”🎧 Listen now and be reminded: strength and courage don’t come from self-help, but from God being with us wherever we go.
🎙️ The Value of Human LifeEvery human life has value, not because of opinions, politics, or religion, but because our sovereign God created every living person. And everything He creates is valuable to Him.In this episode, Sam encourages listeners to see people as God sees them: valuable, loved, and worthy of dignity. She challenges Christians to love and understand others, even when they disagree, and to remember that love is light in the darkness. And while we are called to love, Scripture also tells us that the world will not always receive that love. Jesus warned His followers to expect opposition for following Him. Even so, we can stand strong, be courageous, and keep reflecting His love.Key Scriptures:•Genesis 1:27•Psalm 139:13–14•John 3:16•1 John 4:7–8•John 15:18–19•Matthew 5:10–11🎧 Listen now and be reminded: if life is valuable to God, it should be valuable to us and our love should shine even when it’s costly.

Cut out toxic people. Cancel anyone who offends you.”But is that really God’s way?In this final episode of the Unlearning Self-Help series, Sam explores the difference between healthy, God-honoring boundaries and the world’s call to cut people out of our lives. 🎙️ Episode 4 — Faith Over Fantasy: Why Manifesting Falls ShortManifestation promises that you can create your own reality if you visualize it strongly enough. But here’s the truth: manifesting is just fantasy. In this episode, Sam unpacks the cultural obsession with manifesting, why it ultimately falls short, and how biblical faith sets us free from the pressure to control our own outcomes. You’ll discover that peace doesn’t come from speaking things into the universe — it comes from trusting the God who spoke the universe into being.Key Scriptures:•Hebrews 11:1 — “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”•Proverbs 16:9 — “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”•Matthew 6:33 — “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”🎧 Listen now to Episode 4 in the Unlearning Self Help Series of The Wherever You Go Podcast and be reminded: faith is stronger than fantasy — because God is faithful.
Series: Unlearning Self-Help — 5 Lies and the Truth That Sets You Free⸻Hustle culture says your worth is tied to how much you produce. God says your value is found in Him — and He calls you to both work diligently and rest deeply. In this episode, Sam unpacks why hustle isn’t holy, how rest is an act of trust, and how to live in the balance of working hard where God calls you while also trusting Him with the results.⸻Key Scriptures:•Proverbs 13:4 — “The soul of the diligent shall be made rich.”•Psalm 127:2 — “In vain you rise early and stay up late… for He grants sleep to those He loves.”•Matthew 11:28 — “Come to me… and I will give you rest.”
In a world that tells us “your brand is everything,” it’s easy to start believing that who we are is wrapped up in what we create, post, or produce. But when your identity is tied to your platform, you’ll always feel pressure to perform. In this episode, Sam unpacks the lie that your brand defines you — and replaces it with the truth of God’s Word: your identity is not something you build, it’s something you receive.Whether you’re a business owner, content creator, or simply someone who’s been caught in the trap of image over authenticity, this conversation will help you rest in who you are in Christ, not what you produce.⸻Key Scriptures:•Colossians 3:3 — “Your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”•Galatians 2:20 — “It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.”⸻🎧 Listen now and be reminded: your brand can change, but your identity in Christ never will.
Culture tells us we are enough — that we can fix ourselves, fulfill ourselves, and find our worth from within. But what if that message is quietly crushing us?In this kickoff episode of the Unlearning Self-Help series, Sam dives into the popular belief that “you are enough” and lovingly replaces it with the freedom of biblical truth:You were never meant to be enough. Jesus already is.Through Scripture, personal reflection, and grace-filled truth, you’ll be invited to lay down the pressure to perform and pick up the peace of walking in your identity in Christ.⸻📖 Key Scriptures:•Colossians 2:10 — “In Christ, you have been brought to fullness.”•John 15:5 — “Apart from Me, you can do nothing.”•2 Corinthians 12:9 — “My grace is sufficient for you…”

1 Corinthians 13:8 is my verse for today and what a great and very popular chapter of the Bible this is! I love that Paul not only lists out what love is, but he also makes note of what love isn’t…and that’s what resonated with me today.
Season 3 Episode 1 (new year, new season!) is inspired by Deuteronomy 31:6 and the many times in the Bible that God says to be strong. Be strong. He makes it sound so easy. But if we are being honest, most of the time we do not feel strong. Here’s the good news, you don’t have to feel strong to be strong…listen to this episode to find out why.

We’ve all heard it at one time or another. The phrase that ‘God only gives you what you can handle.’ And if you are like me, you think, what kind of bologna thing is that to say?!?!The phrase might be better said, ‘Life is definitely going to hand you things you can’t handle without your faith in the God who loves you more than this world.’ So gear up friends, put on that armor of God because this world can deliver some really hard punches and we’ve got to be as ready as we can be.

Being a Christian in the business world today can be challenging at times, but if I’ve learned nothing else, it’s that God needs to be right in the center of it all. But what exactly does that look like? I talk about that in this episode 62!
Waiting is hard. In Episode 61 Sam talks about three things to keep in mind during your waiting season that will help you keep on moving through it.
Isn’t it funny how God uses moments when we are trying to impact others to make a bigger impact on us? In this episode Sam talks about how a conversation with her son about cleaning his room turned into a teachable moment and a really good reminder for her about how to honor God in all things.
In this episode Sam shares an activity that she did with her step son when he was entering high school that made a big impact on his life. Realizing how our decisions impact our lives is hard for teens who tend to live in the moment, but this visual activity helps them see how staying on track will help them see the fastest route to achieving their goals.
In this episode Sam gives some reflection on the leadership she’s had in her life and gives some tips on how we can lead our kids in their journey with Christ as well as some encouragement on why we shouldn’t worry too much about them wondering off the path we set for them.

In todays episode Sam talks about Jeremiah who from the worlds perspective wouldn’t be looked at as successful, but to God, might have been one of the most successful guys in the book! It was a great reminder to think about, are we striving for the worlds reward, or for Heavens reward?
In episode 54 Sam talks about unreasonable love and why it’s important that as followers of a very unreasonable God that we also become unreasonable despite what the crowd thinks.
In a special Good Friday Message, Sam shares a message about confident receiving. Thank you to the women of Cabot United Methodist Church for asking me to speak at todays breakfast, it was truly a joy for me to get to be a part of the morning.

In Episode 49 Sam talks about how important prayer is and how important it is to take faithful action on your prayers to steward your gifts in God glorifying ways. Simply put, if you want want more, you need to steward what you have well.
In this episode, Sam shares a presentation that she shared over the weekend at a woman’s conference (This is Us, Women on the Rock! at Natrona Heights Presbyterian Church) regarding her own personal experience in how God called her to exchange her heart of stone for a heart of flesh to draw her closer to Him during a time in her life that she needed Him most.
In this episode Sam shares that stepping into what God is calling you to do, even when it might not be what you want to do, is setting your heart up for passion and purpose.
Happy New Year! As we set goals and venture into a new year, I want you to remember that the calls in your heart aren’t only for you. I hope this episode helps give you the confidence to start taking action when God calls you to both big and small things!
Episode 45, Shaming people in Gods name is wrong. There I said it. In this episode Sam talks about how ‘religious folk’ so often get it wrong. You know, that command about loving others as Jesus loved us? The holiday season is a perfect time to display the love of Jesus to our loved ones, but too many times, we screw it up. It’s so very important that we start getting it right.
Not sure what Gods purpose for your life is? Start with your hardest times. In Episode 44 Sam encourages her listeners to explore that purpose often comes from some of the most difficult parts of their lives. Being a great leader often comes from having a bad one, becoming an encouragement to others often comes from a discouraging situation, compassion for others often comes from experiencing something similar. By reflecting on some of the less desirable parts of our lives, we just might find how God wants to use us.
In this episode Sam talks about how Gods plans for us can impact generations and span further than we may ever know. She encourages her listeners to take time to be grateful for this whose imprint has impacted them and also to take action on their own path in order to leave that kind of God ordained impact on others.
Ever just been in a rut? In Episode 42 Sam shares some ways that have helped her when she falls into those too busy, overwhelmed, loss of enthusiasm times.
In Episode 41 Sam talks about the importance of having the right tools for your journey. Would you go on a road trip without your gps? Probably not. And would you ask just anyone to ride shot gun? I don’t think so. As we run the race of life (or drive it in this analogy) how we get there really does matter.
Some Monday morning encouragement that is enough to get you through any day of the week!

Boundaries! We all need them, but why is it so hard to set them? It’s not, honestly. Lol I used to think the same thing, but over the years, I’ve learned some things and I’m going to share them with you. This week is part 1 of a short series in boundary setting.
In this episode Sam shares her mission for this podcast as well as a strategy for starting the new month off full of confidence and direction!
In Episode 34 Sam talks with her good friend Sarah Enis about how what we’ve been programmed to believe about money may have gotten a little twisted over time and as how those beliefs can be holding you back from becoming the person that God created you to be.
In Episode 33 Sam talks about how the way we show up for God makes a huge difference in the way we can serve Him.
Todays message is a simple one: What’s the best thing you can do in your work to glorify God? Do good work.
In Episode 31 Sam encourages her listeners to start using the gifts that God has given them so that they can move closer to their Devine purpose. Most of us are playing small and playing small just isn’t what God made us for.
In Episode 13; Goal Setting for High Achievers, we discussed goal setting. Today, almost 6 months later, it’s time for a goal check in! Where are we? Are we remembering our why? What has been working? What do we need to adjust? What has changed? I hope this practice is as energizing for you as it was for me!
This week I interviewed my kids to get some perspective from their views. I could not have been prepared for some of these answers! Also, the accuracy of some of these stories may be a bit off (as told my an 8 year old) so I encourage you to look them up! Enjoy this fun and lighthearted episode!
Last week we talked about self worth and the realization that we are chosen. But what next? Just because we are chosen doesn’t mean things will just magically happen for our success, we’ve got to take action to become who God chose us to be!
Self worth is a tricky topic, but I think I’ve got a way to help you remember exactly how valuable you are. Listen in as I talk about self worth and how God reminded me recently where self worth needs to come from and an idea of how to keep it top if mind.
Parents, ever feel like you’re being judged by other parents? Us too! Listen in to Episode 26 as my favorite guest and person, Rob Bauer, joins me to talk about some of our experiences in parenthood from Rob being a stay at home dad to me being a mompreneur…and how others have responded to some of our choices...and how we’ve had to learn to let it roll off our shoulders.
In episode 26, we want to encourage our listeners to be confident in the parents that they are and also to support and lift up other moms and dads as we are all just trying our best to love our families the best ways we know how. As Romans 15:5 says, "May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had..." Let's do that.
In Episode 25, as her business approaches it's 3 year anniversary on May 1, Sam reflects on her first 3 years in business and shares some of the lessons she's learned so far at the beginning of her journey that will help her continue to grow her business as she continues to grow as a business owner, a mom, a wife and a servant of God.
In Episode 24 Sam encourages her listeners to use their voice. We all have a story worth sharing, knowledge that others can learn from, a kind word to give. We all have a voice that God wants us to use, and even if we know that, it can be uncomfortable to get past our doubts and insecurities. In this episode, Sam shares some ways and reasons why we should step into that discomfort and use our voice anyway.
In this episode Sam compares entrepreneurship as well as her faith journey to waiting on spring in Pittsburgh. We know spring is coming, but these last cold spells that come through sure can be discouraging if we chose to let the cold get us down!
In this episode Sam has special guest (and her all time favorite person) Rob Bauer on and they share how God has worked in their marriage and have some fun talking about parts of their journey together. This is the first in what they hope will be a series of podcasts that they will record on marriage, family and God.
Episode 21 is a fun conversation with my friend, fellow career loving mom and real estate super star, Kerri Kadyk. Kerri and I have had lots of conversations over the years about being a mom while running businesses and we thought it might be fun to share some of our highlights and well, lowlights? LOL
Kerri is a partner in a high producing real estate brokerage, The Hutterer Stahl Team of Berkshire Hathaway in Saxonburg, PA while momming 3 young and very active kids. We hope you can enjoy our conversation, laugh a little and hopefully feel like you aren't alone in this challenging, but rewarding journey in this weeks Wherever You Go podcast!

In Episode 19, Sam shares a recent experience that reminded her to rest in the comfort that we are exactly where God wants us in order to use us for His Devine plan. In episode 17 Sam talks about how God has been reminding her to trust in His timing, even in the small stuff. Ever have one of those weeks where nothing goes your way? Only to catch yourself out of whack, edgy and anxious? That was me last week. Here's what I think God wanted me to get out of it.
In this episode, Sam talks about entrepreneurship and why trying to short cut or force your way to success isn't the best recipe. We serve a God who is patient with US, we just need to enjoy the journey and learn and be moldable while working hard and He will provide the right people, resources and success we are longing for when WE are ready. Trying to push things to happen on your time can lead to frustration, loss of hope or even quitting before you reach your purpose. Hang in there, follow your plan and know that we serve a God who is working together all things for our good...in HIS perfect timing.
In Episode 15 Sam talks about success and why praying for the win doesn't always work. Committing our plans to the Lord is not the same as committing our success to the Lord. We can't just wish for something and pray for it to happen, we need to start with God, prayerfully move into action and then allow for God to reward us in His timing...not ours. It's not always easy, but it is well worth it.
Episode 14 is for those of you who've given up. The left out. The misunderstood. The misfit. Those of you who haven’t dared to dream because you don’t think God could possibly have a plan for you…get ready, I’m about to break some news to you…He does.
Episode 14 of the Wherever You Go podcast, God loves you too. Yes, even you.

This podcast isn't for those who want to tip toe into the new year, it's for those serious about growth, results and achieving. God didn't make us to tip toe, he made us to ROAR! Let's do this! Episode 13 of the Wherever You Go podcast!
As we look forward to 2022, it's important to do some reflecting on the prior year (or 2-3 in my case) on what we've learned, who we are becoming and make sure we are continuing to lean into God's plans for us. In episode 12 I share a little about what I've learned, what my journey has looked like and how 2021 was a year of self reflection and growth and how I started to really tap into who I am today and who I am becoming. As we enter into 2022, let's do it with much excitement, hope and enthusiasm to continue to pursue the plans that God has for us.
In this episode, Sam digs a little deeper into self doubt and gives some tips and tricks for overcoming some of the lies that we believe. Sam makes some comparisons to some examples of shepherds who despite what the world thought of them, went on to do some pretty outstanding things when they decided to believe who God was calling them to be and follow their hearts.
In episode 10 Sam talks with her friend Shannon Koch about self doubt, unbelief and the big one...imposter syndrome. Spoiler alert, all of those things are LIES! So, how do we recognize the lies and how do we overcome them so that we can move forward and life the life that God has planned for us?
Gratitude can change your perspective, and it can change your life! Showing gratitude both externally as well as to others is impactful and meaningful in so many ways. Joy shares with us the importance of taking action when you are pressed to share thanks with others and how that can make such a big difference in the lives of others and in turn improve your own life in many ways. Joy can be found on social media at @carewithjoy if you'd like to learn more and continue to be inspired by her!

In this episode, my dear friend Meghan Dlugi joins me to discuss our experiences with miscarriage, why we believe women need to be talking about it and also how loved ones can support women and couples who are going through their grieving process. If you've experienced baby loss or you want to be able to be there for a woman or couple in you life who has, you'll want to give this a listen.
In this episode, I got to interview my friend, mentor and coach, Marta Sauret Greca, CEO of Media the Creative Agency, author of The Minimalist Method and podcaster on Marta the Minimalist. Marta shares her journey along with some tips and advice and the great reminder that you are enough.
In Episode 1 of the Wherever You Go Podcast with Sam Bauer, Sam shares her story about feeling stuck in the corporate rat race and how through prayer, God's guidance and an abundance of faith, she got out and is working toward becoming the person who God created her to become. This is where this podcast begins! Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
