Podcasters Phoebe, Issi, Dimi and Audrey interview Anastasia Frolov (Class of 2009), who is the recipient of the Korovian Fellowship Grant for 2023. Anastasia received a grant of $5000 for her protect, Professional English for Displaced Ukrainians, which will go towards purchasing ad-free Duolingo accounts for displaced Ukrainians and will allow them to adjust to life in Australia more easily.
Anastasia also shares her personal experiences atKorowa, and how school subjects fostered her passion for globalisation. In addition, Anastasia shares what inspired her to initiate her effort, as well as inspirational figures and special moments in her career that influenced her pathway which helped her get where she is today.
Join podcasters Phoebe, Issi, Dimi and Audrey as they interview Korovian Jess Carson (Class of 2018) about her time volunteering in Fiji with her partner Alex. Jess is passionate about combatting period poverty, through creating opportunities for those in need of menstrual products. In 2022, Jess was a member of an NGO named “Involvement Volunteers International”, and she works closely with Luvu HART (Housing and Assistance Relief Trust). Jess is also the inaugural recipient of the Korovian Fellowship Grant, which provides Korovians with $5000 to pursue altruistic projects.
Moreover, Jess discusses about her firsthand experiences of battling the stigma around menstruation. She talks about why she started her journey of service and how Korowa prepared her for her future endeavours, as well as providing advice for any individuals thinking about pursuing service efforts.

Ms Sharon Cox (Class of 1996) shares her experience of being one of the first 27 Korowa students to attend our Trek program. Nowadays, Ms Cox provides advice to Trek participants as she plays an integral role in coordinating the Trek and Quest programs.
Ms Karlie Stocker (Class of 2004) our current Head of Senior School reminisces about her own encounters as a student, navigating school life with co-curricular activities, such as sport. She also discusses her experience on “the biggest decision [she] ever made" and the stigma associated with this, which resulted in immense benefit.
Join podcasters Snigdha, Phoebe and Gabi together with guest podcaster Frau T as they interview Korovian and actor Bella Heathcote (Class of 2005). Bella takes us back to her memories of Korowa where she took speech and drama lessons from 12 years old. Hear about her stellar acting career which includes roles in a wide array of films such ‘Dark Shadows’ and more recently ‘Pieces of Her’ where she stared opposite Toni Collette in the Netflix thriller. Bella shares the ‘pinch me’ moments in the glamourous world of film as well as taking us behind the scenes describing how she remains grounded and resilient when faced with challenges in life. Bella discusses the importance of becoming more comfortable in your own skin.
Could you capture one of your happiest moments in 25 words or less? Dr Hannah Macdougall can. Can you also recall a person or significant event that positively formed your self-belief to embark on a particular journey? Dr Hannah Macdougall (Class of 2005), whom Korowa has honoured in the naming of the swimming pool in Korowa's newly opened Roslyn Otzen Sports and Wellbeing Centre, certainly can. Hannah was born missing her right foot, and within this amplified space, she has followed her dreams. Hannah reflects upon her happiest moment and how her time at Korowa contributed to her pursuit of a stellar world class sporting career as well as tertiary study in the field of sports, Paralympics, and athlete wellbeing. In this episode our podcasters Gabi, Snigdha and Phoebe interview Hannah who is preparing for selection in the Paralympic Games for Paris in 2024.

Hear Dr Natasha Anstee, (Class of 2006), reflect about how her curiosity and passion in Biology, that first emerged during her Korowa days, have led her to pursue these answers through an incredible scientific career. Natasha has worked in Melbourne and internationally within the field of bio-medicine where she is making a huge impact with her research to fight leukemia. Join our Korowa podcasters, Phoebe, Snigdha and Gabriella as they interview Natasha and explore how her work is truly making a difference for others and how women can be a bigger part of the conversation in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics).
Korowa continues to build a strong foundation in STEAM for present students with the recently opened Margaret Brumby AM Junior School Science Laboratory, named in honour of a Korovian with a long and distinguished career in science at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research. This is a purpose-built laboratory which allows for the expansion of STEAM programs and facilitates experiential and investigative learning for Korowa students from Prep to Year 6.
Kindness and compassion play a significant role in providing a sense of purpose and connection to others, while being essential in supporting our mood and wellbeing. Think back to the last time you delivered an act of kindness or participated in some service work? How did you feel? In this episode, Phoebe, Snigdha and Gabriella are joined by Cassandra McKeown (Class of 1980) as she joyfully reminisces about sitting on the field with friends solving the problems of the world. Years later, Cassandra's incredible career would indeed set her on a path destined to evolve into some powerful service work. Cassandra's corporate career led to her working with the UN in the Gaza Strip and eventually co-developing a land-mine charity with her husband. Her work has taken her to Jordan, West Africa and the Pacific where her charity has played a vital role in the removal of unexploded ordnance. Sometimes the intended path doesn't turn out the way you wanted and in fact mistakes and failures can be the best opportunities to propel you in a whole new and rewarding direction. Phoebe, Snigdha and Gabriella sat down with Anna and Caitlin (Class of 2006), co-founders of lady-brains, a media and education platform designed to help early-stage founders and almost-founders turn their own business ideas into action. They reminisce about their school days and explain how their Korowa experience has influenced their career journey and helped them get to where they are today.
