The Dissected Woman: Recent Episodes

Natasha de Grunwald

This is a podcast for those of you that are fascinated by people. I am going to be exploring all walks of life, whether that's death, birth, sex, kink, our bodies, our bodies in movement, what's beneath the skin of our bodies? And what are the questions that we can ask that get us to see new perspectives, so that we can learn and grow and become more of who we truly are? The most important relationship you have is the one with yourself. So when we start asking questions, when we get curious about ourselves, and when we hear from other people who are also sharing their wisdom, and asking questions and doing things differently, we get a chance to really be inspired. And we get a chance to become more of who we are and move into that place where we find that feeling of peace and fulfilment, because we are really becoming all that we can be. This podcast is about creating change in your life and about seeing your life and your body, your business, your choices, your potential, all from a new perspective.

In this weeks Art of Alchemy podcast Jamie talks about film making with his spiritual teacher Ram Dass and how he desired to be anointed, wasn’t his best self when making the film and yet how his heart was fully open whilst being in the creative process.

Jamie Catto is a musician, teacher, writer and film maker (who also created the film ‘one giant leap’).

Whilst working in the creative industry Jamie soon realised that everyone was hiding huge parts of themselves which made it impossible for people to thrive and reach personal and professional success - it was this that led him to creating trainings and workshops around ’the shadows".

Natasha and Jamie have a fun and engaging conversation about shifting perspectives and exploring the hidden aspects of oneself, often called the ’shadow’, and why people have fears around exploring these shadows - and what gems are hiding in the parts of us we have edited, disregarded, rejected and ignored.

They also discuss topics such as sexual kinks and the ‘king/queen’ dynamics in a relationship and the mistreatment of women and the planet.

They touch on shame, authenticity, and the desire to have a positive impact on the world.

If you are interested in exploring the hidden parts of yourself Natasha has a 4 day event where she will be sharing ’shadow games’. You can find that info HERE.

About Jamie:Jamie Catto is an author, film-maker and musician running transformational workshops and events to reclaim all the treasure we edited away into the shadows and facilitate everyone daring to be more real, more fallible, more tender, more intimate.

His mission is to create a world full of ‘walking permission slips’ where we all lighten up and enjoy the unpredictable human path together with humour, playfulness and a healthy dose of irreverence. Jamie’s workshops and 1-1s provide a refreshing approach to inner work with the right dose of playfulness and depth.

He facilitates these professional, personal and creative breakthroughs by drawing from his own processes in ground-breaking film production, philosophy voyages and music career. Evolution and enlightenment happen a lot quicker and easier when we treat the whole process as entertainment instead of ‘working on ourselves’.

“I’ve noticed longer lasting, healing trajectory changes happen when we curiously snorkel around the edges of our edges, not over-boldly plunge ourselves into deep cold water.

Patient, caring and tending heals more sustainably than heroic pushing. I believe in making every step consensual with my fragile inner characters.

I believe in the treasure of low-hanging fruit and heart-opening, playful intimacy, not stoic reverence and unworthiness before ‘more advanced beings’ dressed as faux-humility.

The huge, sexy river of creativity and wisdom is available to everyone in every moment - even this one right now - but it's through melting and opening not generating and do-ing. It's not a Yang act of will. It’s our yielding Yin that allows us to be guided and filled by Life’s Genius.

The core of melodrama is based around something being 'at stake’ but with our awakening there is literally nothing at stake. There's nothing to do but listen and open and be moved - our souls are plotting our pathways, and we are mostly passengers. That's what 'letting go' is all about. Trusting that river is real. Do you?

Genuine healing changes happen when we remove the over-importance or agenda to transcend this glorious, messy human experience and instead, be thoroughly entertained by our fallible, slapstick genius, tripping over our heart strings and spilling the wine, falling on our arses again and again as a given and each time treating it as one of our most illuminating and liberating spiritual practices.

Starling is a pop princess who was discovered by Massive Attack and signed by Zero Seven. She is the ICON for self belief. In this weeks podcast you'll hear two friends talking about the music and the wellbeing industry - discussing the commonalities in both. Natasha and Starling talk about monetizing talent, pricing, self value and their own inherited and created mindset stories around money.

They discuss the importance of not falling into the struggling artist or healer stereotype and the misconception that putting a price on healing or coaching is not spiritual. They also share deeply personal experiences and reflections on money, worthiness, legacy, self-expression, and overcoming huge challenges.

Natasha and Starling have both personally done shadow work and gone deep into their own personal growth journeys which they chat openly about. There are tips inside the episode to help you shift beyond your own limitations.

Mentioned in today's episode:

In this podcast episode of "The Art of Alchemy," I am talking about a highly unusual experience I had, a meditation about death. But, as you will hear this was no ordinary meditation but one curated by an artists and pathologist.

I discuss the significance of having new and mind-altering experiences to broaden one's perspective. This unique experience I had was part of the  research for my book "Thai Massage Dissected,” and described in detail what would happen to the body after death.

I emphasize the importance of stepping out of one's comfort zone and trying new things to expand one's understanding of the world and oneself. The episode ends with me inviting listeners to join my upcoming online event for new experiences and expansion, called E X P A N S I V E  A F.

The meditation art experience was a piece called Afterlife, it is by two artists French & Mottershead (Rebecca French & Andrew Mottershead). http://frenchmottershead.com/

In this episode of "The Art of Alchemy" podcast, I am talking about why working with fascia in clinic is a key component to transformational and quantum healing potential - with a strong link to the psycho-somatic approach I'm so fond of.

I share insights about the power of touch and how it can help clients open up and share their deepest thoughts and feelings - and how I have observed the deepening of this when working with the layers of fascia.

As I delve deeper into the topic, I explain the intricacies of the fascia layer, an incredible, continuous fabric that surrounds and interweaves through every structure in the body. I explore my belief that the intelligence and wisdom of the fascia layer hold memories and experiences that can be released through minimal touch and pressure, leading to profound healing.

In this podcast episode, I talk about something super important - getting comfortable with discomfort. I share some personal experiences of dealing with uncomfortable situations and triggers, and I really emphasize the importance of finding alignment and resourcefulness within ourselves.

We also chat about how discomfort can pop up in business and relationships, and I give some tips on building up your "rejection muscle" and finding inner guidance to deal with those tough moments.

I really encourage you to take a look at where you might be holding yourself back and start taking small steps towards growth and expansion even if it feels stretchy and uncomfortable, because on the other side of this is the good stuff.

In this podcast episode, I'm sharing with you my personal experience of slowing down and being present in my life and the positive impact this has had personally and professionally.

As someone who's always incredibly busy (single mum, entrepreneur - you know the deal)  I never realized how important it was to become still, for days, to slow down at home for days.

After experiencing a death in my family, it was yet another wake up call, a reminder of how short life is and how important it is to me to leave something positive as a legacy to this world. What became clear in the stillness I finally gave myself was how much potential there is in that still space and how - even if there is fear around this change of pace, it actually is a gift.

So this week I am emphasizing the importance of slowing down and how to bring this into your every waking moment.

It's amazing how much we can connect with our inner wisdom and inspiration when we take the time to be present.

And trust me, I know it can be tough to slow down when it feels like there are a million things to do. But I encourage you to make it a practice, even if it's just for a few minutes a day. You'll be surprised at how much it can positively impact your life. So let's slow down together and notice the breath and see what unfolds from this spaciousness.

In this podcast episode, I discuss the absolute Head F**K of pricing your treatments and sessions especially when new opportunities arise.

I share personal experiences and insights on how to approach this challenge, emphasizing the importance of being clear about what needs to be earned to cover costs and make a profit.

However, this is certainly not the only consideration by any stretch of the imagination and in this episode I go into much more depth

I advise against pricing on what others are doing or what we think people can afford, and instead encourage listeners to tap into their own inner guidance system and get clear on what feels good to them in their body.

I also highlight the importance of connecting with your nervous systems and breath to access your inner wisdom and guidance.

In this weeks episode I am sharing some thought provoking perspectives about the nervous system.

I ask the question, are you co-regulating in clinic?

I share with you an experiment I did when I was holding a group Breathwork linked to collective anxiety.

I'm also discussing the nervous system from a perspective you may not have considered before and how I work in clinic.

I talk about how intimately linked our nervous systems are, way beyond our physical bodies.

Cause and effect - how is this showing up for you and clients?

I discuss the powerful techniques I use to build rapport, empower clients, differentiate between each others nervous systems.

The awareness in the nervous system from the body and mind and the sensory input they feel.

I talk about descriptive language and how this helps guide a session and the clients physiology.

I also talk about how this impacts them way beyond the treatment room.

If you are showing up in a dysregulated state as a therapist, even if you feel as if you're in a good place there may be underlying (non-verbal) communication happening in the nerve trees.

And how important it is for us to do the inner work to learn how important this is for your own health and the health of your clients - we want to entangle the roots and branches of our nervous systems.

The disregulated nervous system - what does this look like in clinic?

What is a state of mind and state of BEING and what are the signs we can look out for?

Why are you responding in an emotional way to a clients emotions?

Today's episode is all about the impact of self bullying and self criticism. It's something that has sadly become so natural to us but isn't at all natural.

It has consequences on how you feel which has a knock on effect on all areas of your life - including your therapy business.

I'll be exploring what the true impact is of negative self talk and looking into whether it impacts us at a cellular level. I’ll be talking about the physiological impact of treating ourselves this way - and it is going to really surprise you.

In the Toxic Release Method students are asked to explore their own self talk in the modules dedicated to personal growth.  Once these ways of thinking are uncovered, even when there are layers there to explore it begins the important process of changing it.

From today's episode I would love you to start noticing your self bullying habits and instead see the beauty in yourself and what you do.

In this weeks Art of Alchemy podcast I talk about ‘How to build resilience”.

Why am I talking about this?

Because I have had to build resilience for myself as a therapist/solopreneur/small business owner so that I can continue to support clients and students, teach and show up for events and work engagements, even when I have been grieving the loss of my dad - and most recently my beautiful sister - in - law.

In this episode I share with you many tips about how to build resilience so you can become your own resource and anchor - this is the most powerful way to create resilience from the inside.

Knowing that we can rely on ourselves is so important when life throws challenges our way.

If you too are a self employed business owner you will know all too well that retreat, taking lots of time off is not always possible or even preferable, so I hope you find this episode extremely valuable .

We have a wonderful guest on the podcast this week.

I was excited to interview Louisa Bradshaw White to find out how she went from being a child star to becoming a brilliant Breathwork facilitator and DJ.

I'm always interested in what happens in the space between one career and another and the shifts we make toward self realisation and fulfilment and this conversation certainly doesn't disappoint.

Luisa was a childhood star on Grange Hill then later Holby City and Eastenders, family TV shows in the UK that have been running for years and are household names.

Diving into Luisa’s life, her eating disorder and mental health issues, followed by long conversations about her spiritual awakening and path of inner discovery made this a rich, open and tender conversation.

I hope you enjoy as much as I did.

This weeks episode comes with a TRIGGER WARNING.

It was really emotional and difficult to record, but it felt very important to speak my truth and share my personal opinion all around abuse and consent.

I have had a couple of experiences recently where old abuse trauma was triggered in me, and there was an allegation of abuse in the breathwork field, so as a teacher, woman, mum I had to voice what this has been like.

I'd love to know your thoughts when you have had a listen.

Today I am talking to you about taking radical responsibility.

As we move into the new year there has never been a more powerful time for you to choose to take 100% ownership for the life you are creating.

When you start to recognise that you are the powerful creator of your life and not the victim of it you are able to enjoy life more and life a healthier and happier life.

Taking radical responsibility means being present, taking aligned action from a place of clarity, recognising that you cannot change others but you can change your response to what life throws at you.

And when you do this you will see a huge impact in your life.

This will affect the relationship you have with yourself. With loved ones and your business (if you're a business owner).

How open are you to making choices, to taking back power in your life, to doing things differently.

I would be so thankful if you could subscribe, leave a review and share with one other person who you know needs to hear this today.

Every massage therapist has wondered at some point WHY their client disappeared never to return. Everyone who has ever had high hopes for getting a decent massage has sadly been disappointed (or dare I say it - HURT) at least once. Then there are some therapists who find their business becoming so successful they cant cope with the rapid influx of clients. And others who have got unbelievably long standing relationships with their clients for one reason alone.

In this weeks episode we are talking WELLNESS in a deep sense of the word. For many years it has been my passion to raise the standards of massage. I have been injured too many times (broken ligaments and ribs as an example) by well meaning but poorly trained practitioners. It was clear they had gone down the cheap and fast route to being qualified (and nearly got themselves sued as a result).

As a teacher with over 3 decades of experience what I can do is help create a new narrative and prevent harm in our industry.
I believe wellness starts with the therapist being well (not straining or burning out) and the client having a tailored treatment that makes them snore and dribble. Why right now is THE time to become a massage therapist - adding to your skills so you can seamlessly grow a client base of super fans

My personal journey - from abuse and drug taking - to being the founder of London Institute of Thai Yoga Massage and a published author

I also talk candidly about abuse and trauma and the charity work I have done over the years to support clients in hospitals in tragic circumstances

I am sure if you are in the wellness industry you have your own journey connecting you to your WHY and my hope is that this episode will inspire you to go deeper - this world needs more healers and therapists right now

Finally, I teach you a little about the 5 Buddhist elements covering some basics about what might be your element type - water, fire or wind and HOW Thai Massage therapists can tailor treatments to suit you so you never have to experience the pain of wasting your money on a treatment again

After listening to this episode, remember to come over to Instagram and DM me to tell me where you are stuck right now (this could be anywhere in your life and business).

I cannot help but be aware of the energy people bring to the wellness industry.

You might not know but I can also use my sensitivities to feel what is happening for businesses when it comes to their marketing.(Yep I am talking energy here!)

Are you a wellness entrepreneur who has been working hard to market your business?

You've been expecting all your efforts to bring in new clients.

Because that is what you have been told will happen - you followed the ‘formula'.

But it hasn’t been the case. You are not growing. You don't have more clients.

Is it because there is too much competition?

You thought it was down to bad luck.

You even thought you must be doing lots of things ‘wrong'.

So it is no surprise you started feeling down and losing confidence in your ability to grow as a business.

And perhaps you thought you had better do more courses in marketing.

Or more marketing full stop.

In this week's episode I talk to you about the ENERGY of your marketing and why it has been problematic for you.

I help you realise the mindset trap you may have fallen into without even realising.

And I give you some really simple steps to help you break out of the state of mind that is causing you massive problems and stopping your growth.

The simple method I teach is critical to your understanding how this is affecting your business (and how this is affecting your energy, your self belief etc).

Inside the episode we cover:

  • The subtleties of marketing no one has told you about before
  • The mindset obstacles that are keeping you stuck
  • How creating a new thought is easy, fast and effective
  • The energy of contraction and expansion
  • Why you might seek help to grow, shift and heal things in your business NOW

After listening to this episode, remember to come over to Instagram and DM me to tell me where you are stuck right now (this could be anywhere in your life and business).

My guess is that you have a to-do list.

And if I am right about this I'll hedge my bets you have more than one.

Am I right?

Now I am not psychic but I'll go one step further and say ‘Your to-do list grows by the day and you never seem to get to the bottom of it’.

Have I hit the nail on the head?

In this weeks podcast I am going to tell you exactly how you can make peace with your to do list and make it work for you so you no longer feel:

  • overwhelmed when you look at it
  • like you're putting off the tasks you hate
  • like you wasted the week and got nowhere

And the impact of this:

  • proud of yourself for getting SH!T done
  • you can see growth in your business
  • you will know how to move the dial furthest (and fast)
  • get mega amounts more done in the week

And my suggestion for all the tasks you know you will NEVER DO (but need to).

Let me know on instagram if this was helpful and how you have implemented the changes

The perinatal period is often a time when here is a huge emotional and spiritual transition into new unchartered territories of parenthood.

Becoming a holistic professional who can support during this time is a vital role.

Many wellness practitioners are searching for a ‘niche’ where they can bring together passion, healing, skills and techniques, and often their own experiences to help heal.

In this weeks episode of the Dissected Woman Podcast I speak with the amazing Alex Heath - founder of Traumatic Birth Recovery - college of perinatal health - who specialises in teaching healthcare professionals to support parents with their mental health.

Whilst my courses teach people how to work with the physical body at this hugely transitional time we discuss Alex’s approach to mental health, traumatic birth and mindfulness and how this impacts identity, relationships & lifestyle

Alex is a guest teacher on the Sacred Health 4 trimesters & beyond training (LINK) and has a wealth of experience and knowledge, much of which comes from her own journey into parenthood where she was suddenly thrown into looking at her own addictions and anxiety

Inside this weeks episode we dive into:

  • How good parenting begins with robust, resilient mental and emotional health - how we can achieve this with the right support from holistic professionals
  • The real impact pregnancy and birth are having on families
  • How our birth stories which are often traumatic are sustaining suffering longterm
  • Societies expectations on parents during this profoundly transitional time
  • Supporting the journey beyond birth - a whole body approach (mind body, spirit)
  • Perinatal mental health - what are the signs to look out for
  • Support, education and traumatic birth recovery, pregnancy and loss

About Alex:Alex Heath, is the Head of TBR College an organisation the specialises in perinatal emotional health education. She is also the author of the book: Recovering from a traumatic birth; a practical guide. She is also a parent, Clinical Hypnotherapist and still occasionally, a birth doula. Since 2016 she has been training HCPs, birth professionals and pre & postnatal specialists in the therapeutic skills and techniques that can provide a brief intervention to parents struggling to cope after a traumatic perinatal event. Her mission is to put perinatal mental health on the map. For society to realise that good parenting begins with robust, resilient mental and emotional health.Pregnancy, birth and parenthood are not merely physical events to be endured but a spiritual and emotional transition into a new territory. Far too many parents survive the journey when in fact they could be thriving.TBR College has over 500 students and practitioners who are all committed to supporting parents emotional and mental health at this important life stage.

As a therapist I always ask clients about their own births as it is clear the affect it has on the physical structures or the body as well as the physiology.

Birth is a massive event in your life - your own birth and the birth of your children but what if it could be a positive rite of passage (or even orgasmic) rather than something to fear.

Have you ever considered just how much your own birth has impacted your life, your choices, your mental health as a child and all the way into adulthood?

What if it could have been different? What would the impact of this be on the world when it is such a fundamental event in life.

There is a huge amount of evidence to show how significant birth is - for the whole family and our communities at large.

In this weeks episode I am talking with the magnificent Kemi Johnson - an expert in the birth world - an activist, educator, birth nerd and birth keeper.

In this powerful episode we talk about:

The impact and trauma of c section on the body - every layer of the body is cut into and this is more significant, affecting your baby and your own body in ways you may not have realised are linked.

The power of Bowen technique (which I teach on the sacred Health training) for the whole family and how it positively impacts babies health.

What is Industrialised birthing and what a birth looks like when there is real choice and autonomy.

Impact of birth on body and first breath - the links to anxiety and function.

We talk about the anatomy of the breasts and specifically them being an extension of the heart.

What it looks like to birth outside of the system and how complimentary therapies such as Bowen are vital for everyone .

Come over to Instagram and let me know what you learnt after listening to this episode and if you want to be able to work with babies and whole families using light touch get in touch.

About Kemi:I am a mother and a birthkeeper. I have been in the birthroom as a mother, doula, midwife and now as a birthkeeper. Parents have permitted me the privilege of refining my knowledge on physiological/natural birth and now I spend all of my days loving my family and friends and facilitating healthy, happy, ecstatic births for anyone who will listen. I am also a fearless loud mouth and game changer on social media.

In this weeks episode I share with you 3 tips in how to communicate to attract clients (and keep them.)

Have you got an elevator pitch and does it turn clients away or towards your business? I have seen it go wrong with wellness practitioners so many times in the past and its disheartening

Are you ethical, prioritising the clients health over your income and can you have integrity and build a successful practice - we talk about the nuances.

Are you building a referral system - we dive into this so you can get clarity about why you may need to explore this in your practice.

How inclusive is your wellness business? Never has this been a more important time to ask yourself this question to ensure ALL people feel welcome in your practice.

How do you navigate boundaries - how can you communicate these boundaries and why is this important for you.

The use of language and how incredibly powerful it is (and without knowing it you may need to tweak HOW you speak and WHAT you say).

Did you consider that the art of listening is also a major component in communication skills that will help you build a reputation and loyal clients.

I've had 30 years in practice with clients and I know all of these make a big difference.

Let me ask you this:

Have you been running your wellness business by pushing, struggling and forcing things to happen, using yang energy and feeling exhausted?

Do you ever think that allowing yourself to deeply reset and rest could be the way to thrive?

What would it be like to have a business that allowed you to have the freedom to travel and not be tied down to brick and mortar clinics or spaces?

I know that I have done the pushing and struggling AND I have now created a business that gives me more freedom than I thought was possible (see Sacred Health here) as has my special guest on the podcast this week.

In this weeks episode I am in conversation with Steph Magenta who is an inspiration and has become a global wellness leader after many years of addiction and struggle.

She talks about how she turned her life around and found purpose by learning shamanic practices, finding breathwork and now living a life she is in LOVE with, one that comes from a place of trust, alignment and clarity, having done the deep inner work.

Are you someone who knows its impossible to avoid the inner work if you want to find meaning, purpose and fulfilment.?

You’ll hear us talk about:

  • The power of Ceremony & rites of passage - how this helped Steph become a better human and walk in alignment
  • Shamanic practices & The medicine wheel, looking at nature and life cycles and how this knowledge helps to live a healthier life
  • The healing power and transformation of breathwork
  • Keeping Integrity in the healing space and honouring lineage
  • We also talk about our shared opinion around the immediacy and dangers of fast tracking training - how important it is to go deep into learning and knowledge
  • Steph shares her top tips for keeping herself healthy and talks about her new found love of cold water swimming

This episode will certainly have you questioning how you can make tweaks and changes to your own self development journey and bring more success to your business.

She is a licensed bodywork therapist with a background in addiction support and research, and has over 25 years of running her own juice bars and healing centres behind her, the knowledge of which she brings into her work to create sustainable wellbeing. In this weeks podcast listen to this fascinating conversation with a fellow Thai massage trainer & yoga teacher Drew Hume. Drew has a retreat space in Costa Rica (you’ll hear the sound of the rain and tropical birds in the background), he keeps bees, is an anatomy geek, with a degree in human biology.

In this insightful conversation we discuss Thai Massage for touch aversion, trauma and social anxiety.

We ask the questions:

Are we now living in a society that is widely touch averse? What can we do as manual therapists ?

As a practitioner offering touch are you aware of past traumas held in your clients body?

How might this might show up?

Have you come across resistance to touch?

Understanding these vulnerabilities we can pull out the tools to honour this space for clients and help them - it starts with awareness and education.

As practitioners we have a unique opportunity so how do we build bridges for the touch averse or people with social anxiety?

Listen & Discover:

Two experienced teachers talking about their passions for the wellness industry (and acknowledging the shadow side of it)

Is it possible to ditch feeling competitive and embrace collaboration instead?

Like many wellness practitioners there is a gut instinct that directs the path towards healing and training and we talk about how this has been a powerful guiding force

Settle in and enjoy the conversation which includes talk about massage, anatomy, indigenous medicine and retreats.

The next Thai Massage Foundation Diploma starts in March. You can find more details about how to train with Natasha here

In this weeks podcast I am in a beautiful and rich conversation with Ana Barretxeguren. When is dissection not dissection, when it's created with a paintbrush. I am so excited to introduce you to an amazing artist, Danny Quirk, who reveals the art of dissection both on canvas and through body painting. We talk about the development of Danny's art over time and how taking a dissection class supported this, the impact of body image on people and himself as an artist and the wonders of the body.

About Danny:Danny is an artist based out of Portland, Oregon. He paints on both paper and people, painting anatomy— to depict our common link. His paintings on paper are surreal in nature, but center around ‘self discovery’ where as his body paintings are aimed to ‘animate’ and bring life the cold and sterile aesthetics of anatomy books. He went to Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York City, and majored in illustration.

In this episode I talk about timeline work. I find timeline work incredibly powerful in my coaching work and today I talk to you about some of the reasons it is so powerful. Did you know that you can travel along your timeline to see what has shaped you and what patterns you play out in your life? And did you also know that by shining a light on this you can make significant changes in your life. Your subconscious mind has the ability to resource itself beautifully to make profound shifts and I just love facilitating this work. I've even given you a little technique that you can do on your own as a starting point within this episode.

On today's episode I'm very excited to introduce you to Erin Telford who was my first ever breathwork teacher and is a person that I honour, admire, respect, and I'm very inspired by. We cover so much ground and talk about so many different subjects such as what do we hold sacred, grief, spirit and finding what it is that connects us rather than separates us. Erin is passionate about using her voice and this comes across beautifully.

I would love to hear your thoughts about this episode and don't forget to leave me a review and rating if you loved it.

About Erin:Erin Telford is a Breathwork facilitator, teacher trainer, intuitive guide and space holder. She began her healing career over a decade ago as an acupuncturist, Chinese herbalist and Reiki Master. Her work guides people to look within, open their hearts and heal their relationship with themselves. Her group sessions, trainings and retreats empower her clients to connect to their innate wisdom so that they can find the healing and the answers that exist inside within their bodies and spirits.

Erin believes that we all hold core wounds and limiting beliefs that subconsciously run our lives. When we somatically release them from the emotional body and the nervous system, there is freedom on the other side. Our emotions are messengers with information that let us know where to direct our healing and compassion. By de-stigmatizing emotions and the human experience, we can take shame off the table and start to really deal with what's under the depression, anxiety, and patterns that keep us contracted.

She has created Breathwork experiences for Free People, the Soul Cycle/Soul Legends retreat, In goop Health NYC and Wanderlust Festival. Her work has been featured in Forbes, Shape Magazine, Vogue, Nylon, and NY Magazine. She currently resides in Topanga Canyon and is writing her first book.

Today's episode gets you to think about what your 'fat' really is and how it supports your body. Often people feel that fat is layered in judgement but for the next 30 minutes indulge me in considering what your fat does to shape you as a person, its role and how you can begin to embrace it. I know that for some this might feel like an uncomfortable listen but if you've been listening for a while you'll know that our journey in this subject will make you truly think about being kinder to yourself.

In today's episode I speak to Delroy who shares with us his journey through drug addiction, the 12 step program and prison to find peace and breathwork on the other side. He is truly inspirational showing what self exploration and being open can truly do for you. I was thrilled to meet him at a recent festival where I heard him speak and knew that I had to bring his message to the listeners of this podcast.

About Delroy:
I came from a loving but dysfunctional family. I used drink and drugs to cover up feelings of emotional pain then there was the added bonus I loved the way they made me feel.

I ended up in prison aged 19 then my world started to get smaller. I ended up homeless for many years getting arrested another 54 times which ended in 16 prison sentences.

On my last sentence, 8 years in the drugs stopped numbing my emotional pain and I hated the way they made me feel. I got some help and then started to help myself.

I ended up "Finding Peace in Prison".

I only needed to change one thing and that was everything about myself!

Today's episode is all about the impact of self bullying and self criticism. It's something that has become so natural to us but isn't at all natural.

I'll be exploring what the true impact is of negative self talk and looking into whether it impacts us at a cellular level. This is an area that I cover in the 'Who Am I' experiment and am able to lead people through a new noticing around self bullying and ways to change it. From today's episode I would love you to start noticing more your self bullying habits and instead see the beauty in yourself and what you do.

Welcome to the Dissected Woman Podcast!

There will be a mix of solo shows and interviews and I will be bringing conversations to you with some inspiring thought leaders. Now when I say thought leaders, I mean people who think outside of the box, whatever industry they may be in, and I will be talking to people from a whole range of different industries who are doing things differently, and who have maybe created a bit of a revolution, or are just asking such unusual questions that we get to see things from a completely different perspective.
