The African Americans in Sport Podclass is a collaborative effort between Drs. Alvin Logan, Brandon Crooms, and Langston Clark. Each season is a semester, and each episode is a class that presents insights from experts who provide a mixture of authentic and academic perspectives of the African American sporting experience.
When former football players Isaiah "Juice" Williams and James Cooper share their tales of trials and triumphs, it's not just a stroll down memory lane; it's a masterclass in resilience. This episode peels back the layers of their journey beyond the field, delving into their commitment to mentorship, financial literacy, and the unbreakable bonds forged within the Illinois football brotherhood.Special guest host James Cooper, a mentor and friend of Isiah "Juice" Williams, joins us to share his insights. In this special bonus episode, we bring you a preview of this year's Black Student-Athlete Summit. Since 2015, the Black Student-Athlete Summit has been an annual gathering place for Black student-athletes, professionals, professors, and administrators.
"The Black Student-Athlete Summit is the only event of its kind that caters to the holistic development of the Black Student-Athlete. Our three action-packed days are filled with dope content, dope people, and dope networking. The goal of the Summit is to empower Black Student-Athletes to maximize their college experience by killin' it in the classroom and not leave "any meat on the bone" in terms of opportunities. In addition, professional staff who attend the Summit are empowered to go back to their campuses and create innovative initiatives to ensure that Black Student-Athletes are competitive in the global workforce upon graduation."
