Acid house was the term used to describe the new electronic sound emerging from Chicago back in the late 80's.There were only a few different genres taking shape at that time ( ware-house, garage, techno) and today I could estimate 25+ at a guess. It's been a fascinating & incredible journey as it continues to evolve and had been the soundtrack to my life. So in this podcast ill be sharing some of the latest releases from the cutting edge of what's being released today highlighting new artists and producers, as well as some you may already know. Every now and then there will be a classic track or two in the mix simply because some music is timeless and sits perfectly along side the most modern productions as if they were made yesterday. Each episode will last approximately 30-40 minutes. welcome to my podcast. Again. I'm following a similar format I'm trying to play the latest releases in electronic music but now I will start up my own effects, drum loops, and samples to the mix. I have no shame in saying this is a promotional tool for my DJing and music production/remixing work, all of which is part of Chris Loxton Music.

Playing around a lot with tempo, drum loops & effects. I came to the conclusion that a track never sounds better when you increase the tempo, as you loose detail and miss all the little extras the producer has put in the mix. However when you slow it down, miraculous things appear and are more pronounced. The bass is 'bigger' and fuller, snares have extra crack, sometimes so much i have to almost eq them all the way down. It doesn't work with any track, I've been going through my entire library to see what works and what doesn't .

Almost 40 years ago I remember being sat next to our Death Star sized television waiting for my favourite video to come on. At the time it was cutting edge, the video as much as the music itself, so when it finally came on I jumped on top of our Betamax video recorder and pushing with all my might the two buttons "play" & "record " simultaneously. I watched it over and over until the tape was burnt out. In my opinion it sits easily along side the artists featured in this episode which are; Karmon, Cie, Isaac Reubens, John Tejada, Shonky, (both featured yet again as they've both recently released 8-10 quality new tracks), Binaryh, SCB, Aleksi Perala (get used to seeing this name), and the magnificent Floating Points with a great opener. The video may seem (a little) dated now, but I assure you, at the time it was like the latest iPhone had just learned how to break dance on command.
Kicking off with a super cool track from Jimi Jules to get them singing at your party, once you've mastered the lyrics. Then its a somersault into the deep end with music coming from Duncan Forbes, John Tejada, Sergey Sanchez, Anton Kubikov, Orbe, a couple of yet to be named promos, and finishing off with 2 from the magnificent Vel.

Welcome to my first podcast. Acid House was the term used to describe electronic music back in the beginning, with maybe a few genres like garage, house & techno, moving forward to today with many more genres, sub genres and off spins it can be hard to keep up.
