When we first saw how DTF named their brand and sauces, we had an idea we'd get along well with them. Now that we've had Sean Kirkpatrick and Ryan Minor on we can officially say that is the case. We tried their Cherry Poppins sauce featuring a combination of Habaneros with Luxardo maraschino cherries, dark sweet cherries, gala apples, and nectarines to blend together for an amazing sauce. Their signature Kombucha use adds more depth of flavor that had us reeling about all the foods this will go well with. On top of that we covered all the important topics: History of cherries, combo fast food chains, viral youtube videos, and of course, Taylor Swift. We got our hands on a Mushroom Reaper sauce that was one of their specialty sauces. We dive into Mushrooms, Tamales, and other delicious categories as we try this sauce out. We start out the new year with a recording we've had in the vault for a little while. Scott at Lucky Dog Hot Sauce had a 10-year anniversary sauce come out in 2022 and we were able to try it for this episode. Scotch Bonnets, Blueberries, Szechuan Peppercorns, and Beer?! It's a combination that works amazingly well. We capped the episode with some Hell Hound to really fire us up. Intense heat with flavor to boot. We talk the province of Szechuan, Pheasants, Canadian bands form the 90's, and of course, Hercules in this episode that was a blast to record. These sauces are not to be missed. check out links below to get your bottle.

We have an episode just in time for the Holiday Weekend. Austin, Minnesota's Sam Hastings joined us today as we tried Smokey J & One Drop from Sam Sa'House. This episode featured both sides of the heat spectrum as we start with the mild Scovie Award winning Smokey J that balance the smoke, toasted seasonings, and heat followed by the hottest sauce Sam features in One Drop. It makes sense we did this in the morning since it includes Cold Brew Coffee, Black Garlic and Orange to bring a flavor journey while you sweat. We also have a giveaway running from Dec 21st to Dec 28th, check out our Instagram account for details.

We tried two sauces that have been recently added by their respective brands. It's worked out well that both lend themselves to the Holiday season too. Mammoth Sauce Co has come out with a Black Currant sauce called Currant Situation while Sarabande Sauce was recently released by Lorne at Hot Graham Sauce Co. Both are wildly different in flavor and what we would pair with them.  Mike battles back from an illness after a 2-week hiatus from recording. Be sure to follow both sauce makers on their respective sites below.

We revisited one of our favorite sauce makers over in Philly with some good mild sauces from his arsenal. Faiya has many flavors and heat levels, but this week we tried his Sweet Summer Heat and Purple Flame. Boasting citrus, fruit, and peppers, these brought us into a world of Fish Tacos, Charcuterie boards, and more. We talk ingredients, colors, and alternative uses of ingredients in a way that made for a fun episode. Be sure to check out Faiya's new website in the link below.

We wanted to prepare ourselves this Thanksgiving with a variety of flavor and heat so we could take our Thanksgiving dinner up a notch. The first Holiday season after we started the podcast has opened up the potential of new flavors to add. This week we have three returning sauce makers with Golden Pumpkin by Craic Sauce, Pink Label by Lucky Dog Hot Sauce, and Red Reaper by Mammoth Sauce Co. Each has it's own unique flavor, heat, and defining elements that had us talking everything Thanksgiving Dinner related. Family Band Hot Sauce was introduced to us at the Boston Hot Sauce Festival earlier this year and we are finally trying some of their product. This Ghost Chipotle Hot Sauce is a step up from their original Chipotle sauce they originally release, but it still has that delicious smokey flavor. We dive into Family Bands, Chipotle in all its forms, and a few side conversations that lead to some interesting things. We took a two pack of Hell's Kitchen Hot Sauce by Ron Menin today. We have been pleasantly surprised by Ron's diversity of flavors and this week's episode was no different. His Westside Red and Black Forest brought new levels of heat, falvor, and fruit to the table. We talk about raspberry's, sports...kind of...., and Germany footwear. It'll all make sense once you listen. Also make sure to check out Hell's Kitchen Hot Sauce at the link below.

After much delay, we have our Louisiana Inspired sauce by Craic Sauce out of Lowell, MA. Mill City Red was a sauce Matt was able to try at the Boston Hot Sauce Festival and it was just as good as he remembered it. Discussions went wild today as we get into the food pairings for this sauce, proper pronunciation, Irish history and more.

Hook and Arrow are providing this week's Quick Fire episode with a classic Louisiana Style hot sauce in Cayenne Garlic and a pairing fit for a juice bar in Orange Ginger.....with a Habanero for good measure. We had a few current event topics to discuss on this one to start the episode and then we dug into wings, archery, the history of ginger, and other adjacent storylines. Please check out their site listed below to get your hands on these two from their original trio. 25% of proceeds this month of October will be going to First Descents charity, the link to their site is below as well.

Hook & Arrow have premiered 2 seasonal sauces in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Strawberry Ghost and Blueberry Ghost were new sauces they have introduced on October 1st and we were lucky enough to try them. These are probably the most unique sauces we have based on the heavy lean into fruit flavor, and we were here for it. Our conversations covered their causes, the food pairing possibilities, and a dinosaur issue for Mike. We could not wait to try more sauces by Faiya after our introduction of Salsa Roja. We dove into Mama Juana, a sauce that honors the sauce maker's Dominican roots, and La Muerte, one of the original sauces that brought the heat with Carolina Reapers and Red Habaneros. Mike was in for a surprise on this episode as we discuss unusual hair treatments, the look of peppers, and weird "food" we would be willing to eat. We are heading back to the East Coast with some New England Heat and a classic movie discussion to boot. Gabe at Spicy Shark Hot Sauce has some amazing flavors and we kicked off our collection of his with a warm Thresher Shark Chipotle Hot Sauce. Varying and diverse ingredients gave us a lot to discuss and the heat was a perfectly described on his bottle as "Warm". We tapped into Mike's love of the movie Jaws, a few discoveries of our gaps in movie history cinema and everything shark related. We opened our first bottle of Philly based maker Faiya with their Salsa Roja. This Chile de árbol & Habanero sauce gives you the classic feel of a sauce  you've had before, but elevated to be something new and delicious. We downed spoonful after spoonful as we talk US sugar consumption, Rat Tails, and Bloody Mary's. This was a fun episode about a sauce maker in Radhi who has been supporting the podcast since the early days. Definitely check out the sauce maker's full gallery at his website or IG (Links Below). We brought out a nice scorcher this week with Decimation Hot Sauce's Six Six Citrus. Jared Brodeur out of Worcester, MA brings the heat in his lineup, but the flavor punch is riding shotgun. This Orange Habanero hot sauce had us speculating over Tacos, Seafood, and everything else we can think of to pour this sauce over.  We had an early morning recording this one and it woke us up for sure. We dive into phobias, history, and some satanic content as we navigate getting back into the swing after a short time off.

Our episodes are a little out of sync this month. We had a family illness delay episode 11, but this was always intended to be our 4th of July week episode. 13 Stars Hot Sauce is a veteran owned and operated company that not only makes an incredible sauce, but also uses the success of a sale to give back to their fellow soldier. We tried the Mean Green sauce that Matt brought back from the Boston Hot Sauce Fest and it was even better than the first taste test. Our conversations were Jalapeno and 4th of July themed for sure with a few tangents that even brought us on a space shuttle. Be sure to check out 13 Stars Hot Sauce on the links below and use the promo code "America" on orders $30 or more for free shipping.
