Easy Email Marketing with Yael Keon is the go to podcast for all things email marketing & automation. You'll discover how to grow your list full of quality subscribers, how to serve that list with open-worthy emails and how to convert those subscribers into buyers. All in a feel-good, service led way.
We'll also explore email automation, segmenting and just what is the right email software for you - whether you have an e-commerce, services or digital products business. All so you can get it setup simply, quickly & effectively and get back to the more important things in life. All while building the business lifestyle you desire.
If you've ever stared at a blank screen wondering what to write in your next email, there's a good chance you've been skipping straight to the content without doing the thinking that matters first. Before any strategy, any automation, and any single email, there are three questions worth asking. And once you start using them, you'll never approach email the same way again.
These questions work at every level of your email marketing: from your big picture strategy all the way down to the individual email you're about to send. They cut through the noise and get you clear on what your emails need to do.
You'll learn:
Most email marketing advice focuses on what to write. These three questions are about what to think before you write anything. They push you to get clear on who you're talking to, what you need them to do, and what is standing between them and a yes.
The result? Emails that feel relevant, build a genuine two-way relationship, and move people toward your offer.

You've seen the templates. The step-by-step formulas. The "just be consistent" advice that makes you want to throw your laptop across the room. And maybe you've started strong, followed the ideal system... and then completely fallen off. Not because you lack discipline. Because the system was never built for your real life.
In this episode, I flip the usual email marketing conversation and ask a different question: instead of "what's the best strategy?", what if you started with "what's realistic for me?"
You'll learn:
Most email marketing advice hands you a swipe file and says "copy this." But when something stops working or life changes, you're stuck, because you never understood the why behind it. This episode is about understanding those principles so you can build a version that fits your brain, your business, and your life.
A system you use beats any perfect system sitting in draft mode. Every time.

You've seen the ads. Fill-in-the-blank templates for every week of the year. Swipe files with "my exact welcome sequence, word for word." Custom GPTs that write your emails for you. The shortcut economy promises you can bypass the hard part of email marketing if you just have the right resource.
But a shortcut only works when you know where you're going.
You'll learn:
The appeal of a shortcut is real. When you're juggling client work, family, and everything in between, the idea that one template or one prompt could just get it done is attractive. And that's exactly what the shortcut economy is built on: the promise that you can skip the part where you have to think.
But the thinking is the part that makes it work. The three shortcuts in this episode aren't about skipping that. They're about doing the thinking once, properly, so you never have to do it from scratch again. You stop starting over every time you sit down to write an email. You stop second-guessing whether your design is actually showing up in people's inboxes. You stop missing the moment when a new subscriber is most ready to hear from you.
The work you put in once keeps going without you. That's what a real shortcut looks like.

If you've ever spent a Saturday afternoon pouring over a swipe file, customising it, hitting send, and getting absolutely nothing back, this episode is for you. Not because you're doing it wrong. But because you've been sold the wrong solution.
Email writing is not email marketing. And the reason your results have stayed flat has nothing to do with your copy.
You'll learn:
I used a garden analogy to explain this in the episode. I took it too far, and I stand by every second of it. The short version: copy is the pretty flowers. Everything else is the system that keeps them alive.
The good news? You don't need to tackle all seven drivers at once. You just need to figure out which one is your gap, fix that, and watch what changes.

Sales is the whole reason you're doing email marketing. But if you've been quietly helping, hinting, and hoping your subscribers will magically buy without you ever actually asking... this episode is for you.
This is the fourth and final episode in The Engagement Fix series, and we're wrapping up with the one everyone really wants to know about: how to increase sales conversions from your emails.
You'll learn:
Email marketing has the highest conversion rate of any online channel because you're marketing to a warm audience who already said yes to hearing from you. But conversion doesn't happen in isolation. It's the result of deliverability doing its job, subscribers opening and clicking, content building trust over time, and automations that catch people at exactly the right moment.
The sandwich sales strategy, behaviour-triggered automations, and smart segmentation aren't just tactics. They're how you make selling feel like a natural extension of serving, not a reluctant PS at the bottom of an email.
By the end of this episode, you'll have a clear picture of how the full engagement system works together, and why fixing each layer compounds into real, consistent sales from your list.

Your subscribers are opening your emails. But they're not clicking. Sound familiar? If your open rates look fine but your click rates are flat, you're not alone. And you're probably missing some of the easiest opportunities hiding right inside your emails.
This is part three of The Engagement Fix series, and today we're diving into what makes people click (and reply), why it matters more than you think for your inbox placement, and the biggest mistake most business owners make with their calls to action.
You'll learn:
One filter to take away from this episode: before you hit send on any email, ask yourself, "What do I want my subscriber to do as a result of this?"
Want to see more of what I get up to when I’m not podcasting?

Your open rate isn't just a subject line problem. And in this episode, I'm going to show you exactly what else is going on.
This is part two of The Engagement Fix series, and today I'm diving into opens: what's actually driving them (and what's quietly killing them) beyond deliverability and copy.
You'll learn:
Open rates aren't a perfect metric anymore, but they still matter. And there's a lot more you can do to move them than tweaking your subject line.
Want to see more of what I get up to when I’m not podcasting?
See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
You spend an hour writing the perfect email, hit send, your software confirms it's delivered and then nothing. No opens, no clicks, no replies. Sound familiar? Before you rewrite your subject line or blame your copy, there's something more fundamental worth checking: are your emails actually being seen?
This is episode one of a four-part series on fixing your email engagement, and we're starting at the foundation. Because there's no point optimising your open rates if your emails are landing in spam.
You'll learn:
Copy is only 20% of what makes email marketing work. The other 80% is everything happening beneath the surface: your design, deliverability, content strategy, automations, and segmentation. It's why the swipe file didn't work. It's why the email you asked ChatGPT to write got crickets. The words weren't the problem.
Deliverability issues are fixable and most of them are simpler than you think. A lot of it is a one-time setup job and then good habits from there.

You've heard all about what AI can do for your marketing. But what does it look like in practice, day to day, inside a real business?
This is the final episode in the AI series, and it's the one where theory meets reality. I'm pulling back the curtain on five specific ways I've been using Claude AI in my business over the past few weeks, from organising a decade of scattered content to streamlining client projects and slashing hours off my reporting process.
You'll learn:
The biggest shift hasn't been about creating content from scratch. It's been about connecting what already exists. Getting 10 years of blog posts, podcast transcripts, and course lessons into one place where Claude can reference them has changed how quickly I can produce content, build sales messaging, and deliver richer work for clients.
And this isn't a "set it and forget it" situation. Every single output still goes through human eyes. Every skill gets test-run first. Every client deliverable gets reviewed. The AI handles the heavy lifting so I can focus on the strategic thinking, the problem solving, and the parts of the work that need me.
Whether you're ready to build your first skill or you want to streamline one small process, start with the foundations. Get your content in one place. Build one bite-sized piece at a time. And ask Claude for help when you get stuck.

You're using AI to speed things up. But you’re always wondering…. does this still sound like me? Or am I just publishing the same generic content as everyone else?
Trust is at an all-time low right now, and audiences are getting better at sniffing out the AI-generated stuff.
But it’s not all bad news. Small businesses are still the most trusted institutions out there. You have a real advantage, if you stay human.
In this episode, I'm sharing six practical ways to use AI with integrity, so you get all the time and energy benefits without losing your voice, your values, or your audience's trust.
You'll learn:
The businesses that will cut through the noise aren't the ones handing everything over to AI. They're the ones using it to free up time and energy and then showing up more, connecting more, and sharing more of themselves. That's your edge.

If you've been using Claude like a chat box, you're leaving the best part untouched. Skills are what transform AI from a helpful tool into something that genuinely works for you, running in the background, knowing your voice, following your process, without you having to explain it every single time.
This is part two of my AI upgrade series (go back and listen to Episode 149 first if you haven't, as it sets the whole scene). Today we're going deep on the five types of skills you'll want to build in your Claude account and exactly where to start.
You'll learn:
Think of a skill like writing your team a procedures manual. You document how you want things done, your voice, your frameworks, your process, and from that point on, Claude just knows. No reminding, no reattaching documents, no micromanaging. It follows the playbook every time, whether you're in a chat or a project.
If you've got a brand voice document sitting somewhere already, this is the perfect place to start.

If AI still feels like something you dip in and out of for the occasional email subject line, this episode is going to change how you see it entirely. What if instead of a chat box, you had a fully functioning marketing department, one that knows your voice, your clients, your frameworks, and your way of thinking, available to you 24/7?
This is the first in a series where I am pulling back the curtain on exactly how I have been using Claude AI to build out the kind of marketing system I have always wanted but never had the time to create.
You'll learn:
This is not about prompts or custom GPTs. It is about building something that runs in the background, does the thinking with you, and stops you from having to repeat yourself every single session. Whether you are a total beginner or already dabbling, this episode lays the foundation for everything that comes next in this series.
If you have not yet tried deep research mode, that is your first quick win. Send Claude off for 20 minutes to do a target market sentiment analysis and see what comes back. It is genuinely a gold mine.

The way emails are prioritised in inboxes is changing. AI is now acting as an intermediary between you and your subscribers, deciding which emails get seen and which ones get buried. Gmail, Apple Mail, and Outlook are all rolling out AI-powered filtering that determines email placement based on relevance, not just send time.
This doesn't mean email marketing is going the way of social media. But it does means engagement matters more than ever. When subscribers open, click, and reply to your emails, both the AI and your audience see you as valuable. The businesses that focus on real connection and strategic engagement will win.
In this episode I cover:
The shift: AI isn't out to get you. It's trying to serve your subscribers. When your emails genuinely connect, provide value, and spark action, both your subscribers and the AI will prioritise you. Focus on engagement and you'll stay visible where it counts.
This of course is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to email engagement. There is a lot more too it which is why I have a full course dedicated to the toping - Engaging Emails. Get it at yaelkeon.com/engage

With AI answering every question under the sun, you might be wondering: what's the point of sending helpful emails anymore? Can't people just ask ChatGPT for tips, hacks, and how-tos instead?
I get it. It feels like helpful content is losing its edge. But helpful emails aren't dead, they're just different. And if you stop sending them, you're missing a massive opportunity to build trust with your audience.
You'll learn:
Yes, AI adoption is growing (36.9% in Australia, according to Microsoft's 2025/2026 report). But that still means most of your audience isn't turning to AI for answers. And even for those who are, there's a crucial question they're asking: Can I trust this information?
That's where you come in. Your email list chose you because they trust your insights, your perspective, and your expertise. They want content that's tailored to their situation—not generic advice from a bot that might make up statistics.
So instead of abandoning helpful emails, evolve them. Share decision-making guides, explain the why behind your recommendations, use stories and metaphors to help people understand, showcase your thought leadership, and offer bite-sized wins that spark action.
Next Steps:

If I hear someone else tell you “the money is in the list” without explaining how you’re actually meant to grow one in 2026, I might scream (or at least quietly scowl).
Because yes, your email list growth still matters. But the old advice? A lot of it just doesn’t cut it anymore.
In this episode, I’m getting very honest about why list building feels harder than it used to even if you’re doing “all the right things”.
Rather than pretending it’s easy or blaming yourself, I’m breaking down what’s actually going on, how it’s impacting me and what I intend to do about it
You’ll learn:
For me, this isn’t about finding the perfect strategy. It’s about getting back into the habit of list building, using what I already have, testing one thing at a time, and paying attention to what actually moves the needle.

If you’re anything like most business owners, you fall into one of two camps when it comes to planning.
You either love this time of year. Colour-coded calendars, big ideas, all the optimism.

Both approaches sabotage your email marketing.
In this episode, we’re talking about the middle ground. The kind of planning that gives you clarity and momentum without boxing you in. And the key dos & don’ts that help email stay consistent & purposeful. Plus get that all important engagement & sales.
You’ll learn:
Plus my approach to planning each year, each quarter and each month.
The big reframe: planning is not about controlling every email you will send. It is about creating enough structure to support consistency, while still leaving space for real life, data, and opportunities to guide you.

AI is everywhere right now and honestly, it can feel a bit much. You hear people talking about how it saves them hours, but when you try it, the results don’t sound anything like you. More like a robot than a real person.

In this episode, I’m sharing six practical ways you can use AI to make your email marketing easier, more creative and more effective. From idea generation to research to subject lines and of course the emails themselves.
Plus, I’ll share the one thing I never let AI do because your voice and experience will always matter more than any tool. When you use it well, AI becomes your creative sidekick, not your competition.

Stats show 1 in 6 people have a disability - with 80% of those not being immediately visible.
Yet 99% of emails contain critical or serious accessibility issues.
We (myself included), need to do better. Not just to ensure equal access but it’s just plain good strategy.
In recognition of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, in this episode I’m sharing the key things you need to think about when drafting your emails. In as simple terms as possible.
From the obvious Alt Txt to the not so obvious dir attributes.
From great structure that supports neurodivergent thinkers to coding that supports screen readers for the visually impaired.
We talk colour contrast, structure, calls to action, touch controls and even sign up forms.
The good news? At least half of this can be addressed with some simple template updates.
There’s a lot to consider which is why I have included a summary plus a full range of resources on my website at yaelkeon.com/access.

I surveyed my entire email list about their email marketing practices, and what I discovered left me shocked and a bit ranty!
In this behind-the-scenes episode, I'm revealing the surprising survey results that uncovered a major contradiction: nearly 70% of respondents want more sales, yet 62% send emails less than once a month (or never). This disconnect between goals and actions explains why so many businesses struggle with email marketing effectiveness.
You'll learn:
The bottom line? The survey results paint a clear picture: we want sales, but we're not consistently taking the actions needed to generate them. Whether you're waiting for the "perfect" website, neglecting your automations, or hoping your lead magnet will magically grow your list without promotion, it's time to break the pattern.

Ever found yourself staring at a blank screen, feeling that familiar cloud of writer's block hanging over you? You're not alone. The struggle isn't about motivation – it's about that subtle pressure we put on ourselves to create "incredibly valuable" content every single time.
In this episode, I'm sharing a simple but powerful mindset shift that helped one client transform her email strategy from a dreaded task to something she genuinely enjoys. Turns out, your subscribers may just be looking for some encouragement, not a comprehensive guide every week.
You'll learn:
The bottom line? You don't need elaborate productions or information overload. Just share one thoughtful insight consistently. Watch as your connection with subscribers deepens and email marketing becomes something you actually look forward to.

Now I know this isn’t the most exciting of tasks but the number one piece of feedback I hear about email marketing is that small business owners just don’t have enough time to do it.

This is all about stopping you from wasting time and focusing on what is working best – and ensuring that everything is working as it should.
The 3 Must Do Tasks are:

The best way to increase your email marketing sales is not just about adding more emails or more automations. Instead the secret is to increase the relevance of your emails and your offers to your subscribers.
It makes sense right? The more relevant an offer or the email content is to me, the more likely I will read it and take action on it.
The challenge of course, is how do you do this when you have a list of subscribers who fit a whole range of scenarios.
This is one of the untapped potential areas of email marketing and something that differentiates it from other marketing channels. Email gives you the ability to send some emails to some subscribers and not others. Or, even better, send different versions of those emails to different groups. In both your campaigns and your automations.
Inside this episode, I’m sharing some of the little-known extra layers that you can put within your emails or automations that take them from stock standard to standout.

Now with dozens of different offers with The Email Marketing Superstore, selling more frequently is crucial to my business growth. But, of course, I don’t want to be sending a mass sales email every day.

Because email marketing does not equal email newsletters.
Email newsletters were the way people were using email marketing 20 years ago. A few things have changed since then…

Want a quick tip that with save you your sanity when using your email marketing software? Listen in!
I see it all the time. Someone starts with a shiny new email marketing software and at the beginning it’s clean and easy. You have only one or two forms, lists or groups and a couple of automations.
But then you add another lead magnet.
Or you want to send different emails to different groups.
Or you want to add this extra automation.
Or you want to add some preferences like allowing someone to opt out.
Before you know it you have dozens (if not 100s of tags), a tonne of automations that you don’t know what they do, you are unsure if your subscribers are actually getting the right emails and it becomes all too overwhelming.
It’s enough to make someone pull their hair out and give up. OR they come to me to sort it all out for them!
But it doesn’t need to be this way. In this episode I’ll share the one hack that will make your software so much more organised.

Yes, we all want “pretty” emails. But what is more important - having your subscribers be able to engage with the email easily and take the action you want them to take or pretty?
No brainer that it’s option A as the purpose of email marketing is to communicate something important with your leads, clients and customers. So we need to think of this first and foremost.
But what you need to know is that there is more to email design than what meets the eye (literally and figuratively).
Inside this episode, I take a look at the 3 key considerations you need to have in mind when designing your emails: purpose, deliverability and accessibility.
I do a deep dive into each of the above and share practical insights into what can have impact on each.
The good news? A lot of the tips shared overlap so we can bring it all back to some really key design tips to ensure we meet the majority of peoples needs while also reaching your goals.

Whether you call it a webinar, a training, a masterclass or a workshop - you always have the goal of getting as many people as possible signing up and watching.

If you are in business you know that understanding your target market is crucial to your success. After all, you need to deliver what your audience wants to have them buy from you.
But so many of the target market training out there either focus on building customer avatars and completing epic worksheets. Or going full tilt into surveys or interviews or other intensive research processes.
While there is nothing wrong with either approach, I prefer something a little more immediate and concrete. Something based on real data and information from my specific audience. And something that I can do without committing hours upon hours of my time.
And no surprises, my secret is using email marketing.
Target market insights is one of the unspoken superpowers of email marketing and there are a tonne of ways you can do it, without your audience even knowing what you are doing.
I call it sneaky target market research and in this episode I share 7 ways you can do it and some of tech hacks that make it happen.

It’s the dream that all the online guru’s share – create a signature program, launch it and rake in 6 figures in no time.
While I would love say that this is true, sadly it just isn’t. Not in I’d say 98% of cases.
Launching and online programs might not be the magic bullet to a multi million dollar business in a day a week. At least not most of the time and that’s ok!
Once we take that expectation out of the picture we can instead focus on building a sustainable and realistic course or membership based business using launches.
In this episode, I’m sharing 7 different truths about launching. From current market conditions to when to expect a return on investment to how many people you need on your email list to how many emails you need to be sending.
My hope is that after listening you’ll have an honest picture of what to expect and perhaps feel a little bit better about any past “failures” you think you might have had.

Struggling to grow your email list and know that you probably should be using social media more to do it? Then this podcast episode is for you.
I’ll be the first to admit, I am not a big social media fan. The idea of putting myself out there on a public platform like that. And to do it consistently is daunting.
But if you want to grow your email list without paying for ads, then social media is a crucial part of that strategy.
One of the newest and most exciting ways we can be discovered by new audiences and then convert them to subscribers is through Instagram Reels.
Which of course can be scary. And, frankly, sometimes it doesn’t feel worth all the effort that we put in. I mean who hasn’t spent ages creating an amazing reel they think is spot on and then only get 10 likes. It’s very frustrating.

ChatGPT and AI are THE hot topic in online marketing right now. So I’ve been having a play and let me tell you I am in LOVE and see so much potential for it to help you actually get your emails sent.
If you aren't familiar with what ChatGPT is, it's an open Artificial Intelligence language model that can answer questions and respond to text inputs based on text data mined from across the internet. For online marketing, it has a tonne of potential for generating content, including your emails.
Can you use it to create all your content? Yes.
Should you? No!
Instead, it’s a tool you can use as part of the process and gives you a lot of shortcuts. However, you’ll still be adding your own flair.
In this episode I’m going to share exactly how you can use ChatGPT to generate email ideas, write your content and refine it, all while maintaining your brand’s personality and voice.
Finally, I discuss how you can use it for your sales emails and email automations too.

Having trouble getting people to sign up to your email list? You need a lead magnet!
But not just any lead magnet - one that actually works.
Here’s my philosophy on them in a sentence: if someone can find the same information in a Tik Tok then they aren’t going to give away their email address for it.
Yet so many online business owners are making the mistake of following the advice that was given over 10 years ago. And, yes, it worked for those well meaning online experts then but those same tactics don’t work now.
Instead we need to get creative and think about what your audience actually wants.
Inside this episode, I’m sharing:
This is a generic free zone and after listening to this episode you’ll have a clearer idea of what to offer your audience and how to stand out in a busy online space.
And ultimately start getting those leads that we all know are essential to your business success.

This is not another podcast episode on planning.
While I love getting into those post its, coloured markers and calendars - all of that doesn’t help if you don’t think about how to actually follow through on your plans.
This comes up a lot with email marketing in particular because it often falls into the “important but not urgent” category of work. You have the best of intentions at the beginning of the year or quarter or month but then when it comes to actually doing the work it just doesn’t happen.
So let’s combat that right here, right now at the beginning of the year.

So what can you send - especially if you aren’t feeling it right now?

If you have been in my world for awhile or you have just generally be researching the whole topic of email marketing then you will know that there is a lot to it.
Most recently, I’ve be sharing about the top automations you should have in your business. Then there’s list building. Then there’s welcome sequences and sales funnel. Then there’s promotions & launching.
It’s a lot and enough for anyone to want to go running in the other direction. Or just put it off until “one day” because you just don’t have the time right now.
I see this all the time… and the secret to making it not only feasible but exciting to take action on is having a step by step plan.
To make anything possible – it’s all about breaking it down into the smallest tasks and then actioning them one at a time.
And that is exactly why I have built a framework to help make this all possible. I tell you exactly what I recommend you focus on and when.
It’s called the 5 Email Experiences Framework which I break down in this episode.
The 5 Email Experience Framework is the foundation of The Email Experience - my signature 12 month program that will will help you serve your subscribers with open-worthy emails, shows you surprisingly simple automations and helps you sell while you sleep!
It also provides the support and accountability to help you show up and share your most important messages with the world.

It’s already October and it’s so easy to start writing off the rest of the year and say “I’ll get onto it next year”.
Already I’m seeing so much content online about how it’s the last 90 days or only 90 days left.
It’s like there is this attitude that we are short of time and we either have to go all in or just wait until next year.
But here’s the thing – it is still a whole spacious 3 months. 3 months.
Don’t buy into this time scarcity, rush energy. You can choose how you perceive it.
And we can also choose any day, any week, any month to start on something that we have said is a priority.

Email Marketing has the highest return on investment - $44 per $1 spent.
It also has the highest reach and engagement 21.3% vs Instagram (0.67%) and Facebook (0.064%).
So why do so many business owners spend hours a week on social media but zero time with emails? Or worse yet, never getting started in the first place.
After having worked with 100s of small business owners there are two clear reasons why:
In this slightly different episode, I explore why this is happening and share my number 1 solution to finally making progress.

One thing email marketing isn’t short of is things to do. There’s always a new idea or automation or something you want to add in.
Everyone has a great shiny new idea - especially when it comes to the world of list building.
We’re talking lead magnets, sign up forms, lead pages, webinars, quizzes, pdfs, challenges, etc.
It doesn’t take much googling of “how to grow your email list” to have 100s of ideas but no idea where to start.
Or you start with one, set it up and then you don’t get miraculous results straight away so instead of trying to drive more traffic to it or optimise it you just try the next brilliant idea and the one after that and the one after that.
That’s exactly how you end up doing a lot of work without much result.
Instead we want to make smart, layered decisions.
Inside The Email Experience program, I share 3 different layers of list building and how we should focus on just one at a time. And in this episode I’m sharing what those layers are and exactly what order you should be implementing them in.
So that you aren’t just chasing that next shiny object but instead getting the most out of your effort.

The P.S. is one of the most important areas of real estate in your emails - yet so many people forget to utilise it.
Whenever someone scans an email they go first to the subject line, then to the opener and skip to the end.
In fact, stats have shown that “79% of people who opened a direct mail pack read the postscript first, before reading anything else”
That’s what makes this place super valuable - either as a summary or reinforcement of the email content or as something completely different.
No matter what purpose you want it to serve, it’s important that you use this space for something.
And in this episode, I’m sharing 6 different ways you can use the P.S. to increase sales or engagement in your emails.

At the time this podcast episode drops, I am someone in lush Ireland - for a full month of quality family time and down time. After 3 long years of separation…
This episode and the email that goes along with it, however, is pre scheduled and set to go before I even left over a week ago.
That has got to be one of my favourite things about email marketing - you can do the work when you want and then it goes at the right time. Even weeks in advance.
So in today’s episode I thought I’d share how I holiday proof my business - specifically my email marketing.
That while I am away my automations are running & serving new subscribers, any new client bookings are being supported and my podcast emails & program reminders are all set to go.
All while I spend quality family time or tour around or just take a much needed brain break.
In this episode, I’m sharing what makes this possible and how you can do it too. Plus a bit of a permission slip that you can take time off too.
I also mentioned the Email Ignition Bundle which you can get your hands on for a special price here.

This is episode 3 of 4 where I spill on my top email marketing secrets.
These are the little shifts that make all the difference when it comes to email marketing.
Today I’m addressing a big elephant in the room – the tech.
I can’t tell you how many times people tell me they avoid email marketing because they aren’t “techy”.
They find it all too overwhelming so they don’t even begin. OR they start with one piece of software and find that difficult so the write off the whole thing altogether.
Big mistake – please don’t just all software by the same brush.
Also, I promise you that no matter how tech phobic you are you can absolutely learn it extremely easily.
In this episode, I share how to really choose your software and 3 key factors I want you to consider. 3 factors that will make your email marketing, your business and your life easier!
This episode is in celebration of my new LIVE Email Marketing Bootcamp beginning today (June 20!).
If you want to finally get started (or restarted) with email marketing this is for you.
We’ll be covering: How to do email marketing your way (and how it all works) What to send your list that feels aligned with who you are Choosing the best email marketing software for you The 6 steps for using email to grow your business
Plus plenty of time for you to ask questions and get support from me!

This is episode 2 of 4 where I spill on my top email marketing secrets.
These are the little shifts that make all the difference when it comes to email marketing.
AND what makes everything simpler & less overwhelming.
This secret is probably my favourite - choosing a focus.
No, I’m not talking about choosing a niche or a target audience.
I’m talking about a focus topic or theme for any given time.
This solves the biggest challenge I see small business owners have - “I don’t know what to email my list”
Really this is because they haven’t narrowed down the possibilities.
They are looking at everything under the sun that they could send and because of this they see nothing.
Instead you need to narrow it down.
In this episode, I share how I use the strategy of using focus themes or topics to make content simple. And how I’ve even used this strategy to coach my 7yo’s Netball team!
This episode is in celebration of my new LIVE bootcamp beginning on June 20th - The Email Marketing bootcamp.

In today’s podcast episode, I’m kicking off a 4 part series where I spill on my top email marketing secrets.
These are the little shifts that make all the difference when it comes to email marketing.
AND what makes everything simpler & less overwhelming.
And the first secret might just be the most important one and the biggest mindset shift when it comes to showing up & serving your list.
You see everyone is looking for that magic formula. That perfect lead magnet that is working “right now” and getting everyone to sign up.
Or that set of email swipe files you can copy & paste that will all of a sudden get your unengaged list to buying your thing.
Or that piece of software or marketing strategy or whatever shiny object that is the must have thing of the moment.
Well I’m here to tell you none of that matters.
What matters is what your audience wants from you.
In this episode, I explore exactly what that means and how to apply it.

Some rules are meant to be broken.
But sometimes in entrepreneurial or small business circles we are told we should be confirming to a certain set of rules or ideals in order to be successful.
Wake up at 5am. Meditate. Journal. Yoga. No phones. No screen time before bed. Hustle in Pomodoros. Get the most out of every hour.
Honestly, it’s exhausting and after 6 years in business I’ve learnt to ignore a lot of it.
Inside this episode, I’m sharing 5 entrepreneurial rules that I break.
Think of this as your permission slip to reassess the shoulds and what will actually work for you.
Because you created your business to help build the life you want - not to be put in a box.

“I have enough time.” Said no one ever.
Instead, we are caught in this cycle of trying to find more time in our days to do the things we think are important.
Email marketing often falls into that category - important but not urgent.
So it gets delayed. And delayed again.
But not anymore, I have an amazing guest joining us on the pod to help you start creating more time in your business (and your life). They call her The Time Creator. It’s Tash Guthrie is a time management & productivity educator, and the founder of The Time Creator planner, podcast, community and membership.
She believes that everyone has the power within them to live the life they truly desire, free of overwhelm, burden and stress. Tash helps busy women manage the multifaceted demands of their life, take control of their time and improve their productivity and time management skills, to ultimately create more time for the people and things they love most.
Tash’s mantra is ‘plan hard, live easy’ and this is reflected in her strategies for creating a purpose-driven, fulfilled life free from complication, stress and overwhelm.
Tash normally lives on a farm on the Far North Coast of NSW with her husband, 2 children, several chickens and 1 gorgeous cow. She is also a full-time primary school teacher. Currently, she is travelling Australia in her caravan.
And when Tash & her family literally pulled in to park their caravan in my driveway as they made it into Perth, we took the opportunity to have a chat!
In this episode we talk about: Why people struggle to get those things done that they say are important How we can create more time in our days How to get started on big projects How to make those regular tasks (like sending emails) a regular habit
We also explore the difference of going from limited time (working FT, kids, farm & business) to seemingly “unlimited” time while travelling – and how that actually has an impact on productivity.

This week marks 1 year of the Easy Email Marketing podcast and is cause for celebration!
Honestly, I didn’t think I’d make it this far as I consider myself one of the least consistent people out there.
Yes, I have gotten pretty good at writing regular emails but there’s also the obligation since I am the email marketing person.
Truth be told, I avoided creating a podcast for a long time. Even though I loved listening to them and found them the best way to learn new things, get myself thinking or just distract from the day to day.
The idea of having something that needed to be out every single week freaked me out.
And it stopped me for a long time…
But one day I decided to put on my big boss pants and do something about it. And I’m so glad I did!
As I reach this 1 year milestone, I thought I would reflect on some of the things that helped me actually stay consistent.
Things that can probably be applied to all things in life that you want to do – including email.
Now while I don’t think consistency is the be all and end off of business like some profess, it’s still important to be following through on commitments to yourself.
If only to prove you can do it…
Inside this episode, you’ll learn the 10 key lessons that have helped me stay consistent with the podcast over the past year - including some key decisions that made all the difference.

Social Media.
Content Marketing.
Email Marketing.
It just seems to much to do, consistently.
But what if I told you there was a way to make content creation for all three, easy.
Well in this weeks podcast episode, I have an amazing guest who is sharing exactly how.
This week’s episode is as special one as it is my first ever guest interview. And today we start with someone pretty amazing – Elizabeth McKenzie.

She supports her clients to share their magic and create wildly abundant offers, booked-up launches and magical content through 1:1 Business Coaching and her programs The School of Content Wizardry & Become a Launch Wizard.
And in the process she’s built a 6-figure business based around the things she loves and being authentic AF in the process.
I’ve known Tahryn for many years, I believe right near the start of her business – and it’s been amazing watching her growth during this time.
Personally, I love the way Tahryn talks about content. She just makes it sound simple and more importantly – fun!
Inside today’s episode we talk about: What content marketing really is How social media and email marketing work together How to come up with an endless list of ideas What’s better – batching or on the fly
And one big tip to take the pressure off constantly being in posting mode.
This episode is definitely for you if you are struggling to create content for all the different channels
This episode is full of inspiration and permission to be yourself – while still putting out consistent content.

Now this podcast is called Easy Email Marketing and I am an email marketing expert, so I admit my bias. But the answers from this episode may surprise you!

Inside, you’ll learn the 8 key reasons why email marketing should be a priority then we’ll talk about how social media & email marketing can work together to grow your list and amplify your marketing & sales efforts.

Quarterly strategic planning is at the heart of my business and what I find the best way to keep momentum going without feeling completely overwhelmed with all the things I could be doing, but instead focusing on the most important things.
There’s nothing more I love than getting out a big piece of paper, my planner and coloured plans and mapping out all the ideas.
But before the fun idea generation step, we need to make sure we are focusing on the most important things. We need to know what’s working, what isn’t and where we should be investing our valuable time & energy.
And while email marketing is not the complete picture, it is a key part of your marketing strategy and something you should be reviewing on a regular basis.
In this episode, I’ll be sharing the 4 key email marketing things you should be reviewing every quarter and how to do it.
After listening you’ll know exactly what to look at and therefore where you should be focusing your email marketing efforts - taking it from all the things to this one thing.

More leads = more sales.
Email marketing is the ultimate lead generator as it helps bridge the gap of the unknown of promotions and social media and reduces that huge number of prospects down to the key people you need to be following up with.
It brings it down to simple maths.
If you know your conversion rate and you know how many subscribers you have (aka leads) then you can estimate future sales.
You can also calculate how many leads you need in order to reach your sales goal.
But how do you get more leads? There are only so many lead magnets you can build.
In this episode, I’m sharing: The 3 types of leads and how they fit with email marketing 6 different ways you can generate more leads using email marketing How to nurture those leads using email (& personalised outreach)
After listening you’ll hopefully have at least 1 new lead generation strategy to take away and implement today.

You know it. I know it. There is a lot of information out there when it comes to email marketing, list building and sales funnels. Everyone seems to be saying the same thing – which isn’t surprising considering many online entrepreneurs learnt from the same couple of people or from people who learnt from those people and so on.
There is an epidemic out there of misinformation which can make even the most astute business owner confused about what you “should” be doing when it comes to email marketing.
There are a lot of well-meaning educators and course creators out there who, yes, some of which have had significant success. But many only understand the online course creation or membership world.
They just don’t understand how to translate these strategies into real life business. Or even online businesses that are selling things other than digital products. How could they? They haven’t had the experience or education to know the difference.
If you provide services digitally or in person or if you sell products in a physical store or online, the way you market your business and use email marketing specifically should be different than those online educators.
And we need to understand that distinction.
In this episode, I’m sharing some of the most common things those online gurus teach and how it is only part of the picture.
Take this as your permission to think outside of the box of what everyone seems to be teaching and instead think about it through the lens about what you know about your industry, business and audience.

Let’s talk Subject Lines - the most important copy of your emails.
But don’t fear, I’m not going to ask you to write 20, 30 or 100 different versions for every single email you send (like some copywriters recommend).
I don’t have time for that and I know you don’t either. And it’s more important that you get your content and emails out there.
So instead I’m sharing 7 different tips or ideas you can use to spice up your subject lines: Create curiosity Use a single word Ask a question Have some fun with special characters Something they want to know Use numbers Use their name
And don’t forget to mix it up to keep things fresh and interesting!
If you want help and ideas, then you can grab my FREEBIE: 80+ Fill in the Blank Email Ideas to help inspire you further. Just fill in the blanks with the topics your audience has given you and off you go. These topics can be used as the subject lines themselves! Grab it now at yaelkeon.com/ideas

Welcome back to Easy Email Marketing, I’m your host Yael Keon and today I’m answering one of the most frequently asked questions I get which is “how often should I be sending emails?”
I get it. It's a fine balance between wanting to show up consistently for your subscribers but not wanting to “annoy” them, wanting to get more sales but not wanting to be just salesy, and wanting to grow your business in less time but trying to find the time to write emails.
With many factors this is why it’s an “it depends” answer.
In this episode, I’m going to discuss a few considerations that could influence your email schedule.
Consideration #1: How often you are producing core content
Consideration #2: How often you are promoting
Consideration #3: How many automations you have
Consideration #4: How often you are emailing now
Is there such a thing as too much?
Yes and no. I believe you can be emailing as much as your audience wants to hear from you.
But it should be done with tact and respect.
This means if you want to increase your frequency, look at segmenting your list to see who is interested in receiving what. And give them options to opt out.
So for example, Podcast + content funnel or podcast + updates. Then I also have weekly emails going to EE members.
One trick I use is to send different things on different days: Monday is podcast Tuesday is EE Wednesday is content funnel Thurs or Fri is other updates
That way if by some chance someone is on all lists they aren’t getting multiples a day.
But that’s me – an email expert using email to support my subscribers in different ways. I’m at the extreme end. For you, it’s just starting where you are now.
If I were to boil it down to one recommendation it would be this…
Minimum monthly but probably more than you are doing now.

Welcome back to Easy Email Marketing, I’m your host Yael Keon and today we are going back to the beginning.
I was looking through my episodes and have realised that at episode 37, I haven’t done a “how to get started” episode.

So I’m going to rectify that right now in this episode!
Whether you are brand new to email marketing or have something setup but haven’t been using it then this episode is for you.

Welcome back to Easy Email Marketing, I’m your host Yael Keon and today we are talking about that inner voice that can often stop you from actually sending those emails.
If you are listening to this when the episode is released – we are right at the beginning of 2022 and often I find this is when everyone is super eager with their business planning and saying “this year I will focus on email marketing”.
Then what happens?
That little voice crops up in your head.
Fear, doubt, wondering if your emails are good enough.
And then you don’t hit send.
So today I am going to combat that one head first. Because often when it comes to goals and goal setting, it’s actually a really helpful exercise to pre-emptively ask yourself “what will get in the way” and have a plan of attack for those circumstances.
This is about creating awareness of these common thoughts – yes everyone has them, even me – and moving through them.
But before we get stuck in, I wanted to let you know that in just a week I will be hosting a brand new, free masterclass called The 7 Revolutionary Email Marketing Secrets to grow your business with more ease in 2022 and beyond.
Inside this masterclass, I’ll be sharing the tips, tricks and hacks that the normal list building guru’s don’t share. And some of these secrets may just help quash your fears.
There are 3 timeslots to choose from (with no replay) so
make sure to save your seat at yaelkeon.com/secrets.
This is in the lead up to the doors to The Email Experience opening at the end of the month!
So if email marketing is something you want to sort out in 2022 then make sure to get on the waitlist at www.yaelkeon.com/experience.
Not only will you get earlier access than the general public, you will be able to get your hands on some exclusive bonuses.
Right, getting back to “what will they think”....or other variations, “what if they think I’m annoying” or “what if they unsubscribe”. You know what I’m talking about.
Personally, I think it’s because email is a more personal marketing medium than any other.
At the end of the day though, people give your their email address because they want to hear from you. Not sending them emails is doing them a disservice.
Tune in to find out how we can combat this together, and start sending emails today!
If you want guidance with any of this, including strategic planning, even more ideas, subject lines, email writing tips and even swipe files then The Email Experience membership is for you. Welcome back to Easy Email Marketing, I’m your host Yael Keon. Although this is the first episode for 2022, the topic applies year round. And on that note, today I’m going to chat with you about goal setting, the realistic ones and the stretchy ones. This combo, this is my favourite way to set goals.
But before we get stuck in I wanted to let you know that the doors to The Email Experience will be opening at the end of this month!

Okay, back to goal setting! For this one I recommend, if you can, you head to your computer and open up a spreadsheet. If not, grab a pen & paper and have a go. If you are listening while driving or walking you can definitely still listen and either come back to revisit this episode while you do the work or just remember the process.
It's pretty simple and takes just 5 steps, outlined below, but explained in detail in the episode:
Step 1: Come up with your freedom number
Step 2: List out your current offers (and any you want to introduce) then figure out how many of each you need to sell to reach your freedom number
Step 3: Ask yourself – is this achievable given the time you have?
Step 4: Find your conversion rate
Step 5: Calculate your list size needed to reach that goal
Now this number may be super scary or feel doable but it is important information to know. This isn’t meant to scare you. Instead it’s meant to empower you.
If you want guidance with any of this, including strategic planning, even more ideas, subject lines, email writing tips and even swipe files then The Email Experience membership is for you. Welcome back to Easy Email Marketing, I’m your host Yael Keon and today is a bit of a fun one where we are going to combat the biggest reason why I hear people don’t send emails – they don’t know what to send. In this I’m going to guide you through a process where you can plan all your 2022 emails in about 20 minutes.
Excuse busted!
For this one I recommend you grab a pen & paper (or some post it notes) and get stuck in. If you are listening while driving or walking you can definitely still listen and either come back to revisit this episode while you do the work or just remember the process.
It's pretty simple and takes just 5 steps, outlined below, but explained in detail in the episode: Frequency of sending Key dates Themes Fill the gaps Get specific
Boom. Just like that, you’ve got a whole year of emails planned. Of course, this doesn’t mean you are stuck to this plan. I generally actually only do this for about 3 months in advance and even then some things change with the flow.
If you want guidance with any of this, including strategic planning, even more ideas, subject lines, email writing tips and even swipe files then The Email Experience membership is for you and now is a fantastic time to join as we are headed into a new year and you are full of those email plans.
In fact, this month if you are an Email Experience member, you are getting a 52 week email plan for 2022 so you don’t even need to go through this process!

This episode is the fourth of five in a series all about the different email marketing options out there.
I’ll be dropping the fifth mini-series episode in 2-3 weeks so you’ll still get your other email marketing inspiration between now and then. I felt it was important to include a deeper dive on each of the more popular email marketing choices, hence this mini-series, and so far, the email marketing options I’ve explored are ActiveCampaign, ConvertKit, and MailChimp. Today I’m going to dive into MailerLite
If you want more guidance about what the best email marketing software is for you make sure to check out episode 5 where I broke down what criteria you should be looking at when making the choice.
I also have extra resources and a worksheet available at yaelkeon.com/software
Inside this episode I’m deep-diving into MailerLite. Now back in the day, I used to just write off MailerLite as a very “basic” piece of software. I always thought that if you were going for a free option to start you’d go with MailChimp or if you could pay you’d go with something more advanced.
But over the past few years MailerLite has really improved AND after having worked on many implementations for clients and teaching it inside The Email Experience I can safely say it is one of my favourites.
You really get a lot of bang for your buck (which starts at free for up to 1000 subscribers) and it can do almost anything the more advanced software can do.
But as with anything there are pros and cons and different sorts of businesses so I’m going to break that down first and then conclude with some tips about how to get the most out of it.
Go on and have a listen, even if you’re not using MailerLite. And if you’ve got any questions, don’t hesitate to ask! DM me on Instagram, or get in touch via my website.

Welcome back to Easy Email Marketing.
Everyone says to “segment your audience” and to “add tags”.
Okay thanks – but WTF does that actually mean?
Email marketing is full of industry terminology which can be very confusing.
And this isn’t helped by the fact that different email marketing software uses different terminology for the exact same thing.
So in this episode I’m going to try to explain so that you can actually leverage these powerful audience tools effectively and without too much overlap.
For the purposes of this post, I’m going to stick to more standard definitions and then I’ll explain a few variances from different email software throughout
The most important thing to understand about lists, segments and tags is that they are a hierarchy. So, it goe lists at the top, segments in the middle, and tags at the bottom.
Have a listen to get all the lowdown on the hierarchy and then go look at your email marketing software and see how you can implement the three, or tidy up what you have!
