In our Polis180-podcast ‚Voices from the Neighbourhood‘, we want to introduce various actors, activists and organizations that work on progressive issues in our immediate eastern neighborhood. What problems do environmental activists face in Kyrgyzstan or Ukraine? What can we learn from organizations that stand up for climate justice in Russia? As it says in the name of our podcast, we want the voices from the neighbourhood to be heard.
Faced with recurrently increasing repression, civil society in Russia turns to smaller meeting spaces. Where can activists still physically come together today? What forms of organizing are possible in the current context? And why is psychological help in such big demand?
What’s the deal with the smog problem in Kyrgyzstan’s capital? What are its causes and what can be done to change the status quo? For our second episode we interviewed Bermet Borubaeva back in May.
