(Mar 11, 2021) After reaching into the 60s in parts of the Adirondacks yesterday, cold temperatures are going to return, which could mean a flash freeze and a bit of snow at higher elevations early Saturday and perhaps some crustier conditions, and no doubt a good deal of ice on trails this weekend.
(Feb 26, 2021) The warm-up and rain expected this weekend will kick off the maple-sugaring season and be a reminder to our winter sports enthusiasts to get out there while you can - it’s not here yet, but the end is in sight.
(Feb 4, 2021) It’s shaping up to be a nice weekend, weather-wise, with the whole Adirondacks seeing least a little fresh snow over the next couple days, after getting as much as a foot over this past week.
(Jan 15, 2021) Temperatures have warmed some, but so long as we remain on the cold side of a front coming through Saturday, we should see some considerable snow this weekend, especially in Western Essex County, including the High Peaks and Lake Placid region. It’s a challenging forecast, so watch the weather closely this weekend.
(Oct 9, 2020) This is one of the busiest weekends of the year, especially in the High Peaks. Expect parking areas to fill to capacity early. Given the extra boost in visitor-ship due to the ongoing pandemic, and the nice weather, this weekend will likely see record crowds at the most popular trailheads. There are thousands of other places to explore in the Adirondacks, and areas outside the High Peaks will have the best fall color, do you yourself a favor and avoid those popular areas this weekend.
(Sep 18, 2020) Temperatures have taken a decided turn. We’re expected to see some 20s at night in colder mountain valleys this weekend. If you’re headed into to the woods or onto the waters, now is the time to be sure you’ve got some extra clothing and be prepared to spend an unplanned night in cold temperatures. Summit temperatures are not expected to rise out of the 30s this weekend.
(Sep 11, 2020) Although colder spots have been seeing nighttime temperatures in the 40s, on Wednesday much of the region reached the lower 80s, and it’s remained warm enough for comfortable camping, and water temperatures warm enough for swimming. Temperatures are forecast to remain near normal for the next week.
(Aug 21, 2020) We could see some scattered showers or thunderstorm through the weekend, so keep a close eye on the weather to anticipate and avoid thunderstorms and be prepared to encounter rain.
(Aug 14, 2020) What a summer it’s been weather-wise. It’s looking like aside from some clouds and the chance of a shower in the forecast Sunday, it’s going to be another great weekend.
(Aug 7, 2020) It’s been quite a summer for outdoor adventures, with excellent weather nearly every weekend so far. The remnants of a tropical storm moved through this week giving the Adirondacks some much-needed rain and plenty of it.
(Jul 31, 2020) We’re looking at nice Saturday weather-wise before some rain begins to move in on Sunday, and there could be some moderate to heavy rainfall, especially in the Southern Adirondacks on Monday into Tuesday, and possibly some more rain after that. That’s going to be some much needed rain, but keep a closer eye on the weather starting Sunday.
(Jul 17, 2020) There could be some valley fog tonight and tomorrow morning. It’s going to warm up this weekend and continue our streak of excellent summer weather, although it has been quite dry. Be sure to stay hydrated, and pace yourself in the heat. Hot weather is a good time to leave dogs at home. Either way, be careful of heat exhaustion this weekend.
(Jul 10, 2020) Keep an eye on the weather as a very low-pressure storm is moving up the coast in our general direction. Much of Northern New York has been under a heat advisory, with a heat index in the 90s, a bit muggier than the weather we’ve been experiencing.
(Jul 4, 2020) The weather is looking nice after some scattered showers this evening, though be aware that we could see afternoon thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday as well.
(Jun 26, 2020) Another nice weekend is on tap, with pleasant temperatures, but a few thunderstorms are possible, so keep an eye on the weather. Don’t get caught above tree-line or on water when you hear thunder.
(Jun 19, 2020) The weather looks promising, although be aware that afternoon thunderstorms are in the forecast. There is no safe space outside during a thunderstorm, but they are especially dangerous on open water and above tree line - check the weather frequently this weekend.

Aside from the chance of a little localized rain in the afternoons, this weekend is shaping up to be pleasant, if perhaps a little cooler. We’ll see some temperatures on summits in the 30s - tonight and into tomorrow morning.
(Jun 5, 2020) Although nights will continue to be chilly, dipping into the 40s Saturday night, it will be generally pleasant, with the notable exception of the possibility of some rain on Saturday, and possibly a thunderstorm Saturday afternoon.
