Welcome to my first time composing live. There are a few technical difficulties along the way, but things will improve with the next video.
I wanted to share my journey learning orchestration in a DAW (Ardour) on Linux.
All of the software I use is available for free, and most of it is opensource (besides the Spitfire plugin.) So anyone can do this!!
Being creative, making music, these are experiences that should be available to everyone, and now, with the hard work of the people making these amazing products, they are!
So join me!! Let's learn together about media composition, working with free open source software, and using the BBCSO plugin to create some amazing sounds!

EDIT: The day after I released the video, Spitfire redid their entire website. The links still work, but it will look a little different.
Hey, so since it took me so long to figure out how to get Spitfire working in Ardour on Linux. And after I was asked to upload a tutorial, here it is. :)
Hope you find it useful, if you have any questions I hope I can help, though I'm much more a musician than a technician...
Feel free to comment about your thoughts, and if I missed anything, I am very new to Linux and would love to correct any mistakes.

Hey everyone,
I want to share with you my first Orchestral composition. I wrote this piece for my wife to celebrate our love on her birthday.
It was truly the source of inspiration for this piece, as I wrote it very intuitively trying to capture the essence of our story with it.
I hope you enjoy it.
As for the technical specs, which I am rather passionate about. This song was made entirely on free and (mostly) open source software.
I use the #Linux distribution #Ubuntu Studios. The DAW (Digital work station) I use is #Ardour 6.9 (free and open source when compiling from source) coupled with Jack audio. The piece is entirely made with Spitfire Audio's free BBC Symphony Orchestra plugin, Discover edition.
I learned a lot making this piece, and I hope to be able to share more with you in the future.

First off, thank you so much for all the support and encouragement on my last upload. Special thanks to @mipiano and @Basil Marples for your comments and of course your wonderful music!
So as promised, here is my looper backing for another blues session. This one I give the harmonica a toot too.
Apologies for the messed up levels, I'm still working out the technical connections for the reface. My looper is for a microphone only, so I had a little trouble recording both the looper and the synth, had to break out my dusty old Bherringer mixer and try to setup everything. But I promise to improve for the next one.
I think I'll upload an old song I wrote for the looper next.. Been a while since I've done anything with the looper, so thank you to all my supporters and curaters, you are the ones allowing me to continue to work on my music.
Also, I'd be happy to hear your thoughts on adding digital drums to the mix? I have some percussion, but no real drum set anymore... :( (had to leave it behind sadly..)
I've never really combined digital instruments with acoustic/electric, besides mixing one of my old songs in a track. So if you have an oppinion, let me know in the comments.

Ok, so I shouldn't upload this... I'ts my first recording and upload EVER with my new Yamaha Reface YC, a small synthesizer designed to emulate the electric organ.
If you like it, I look forward to more (and better quality) uploads soon. Tbh, this was just me messing around and having fun.
So I hope you enjoy it, even with the shitty sound quality. Promise to improve in later versions.
