It was 45 years ago this month that Former First Lady Betty Ford went into treatment for her alcoholism and addiction to painkillers, following an intervention. Some 4 years later, in the summer of 1982, Neil Scott, who was then the editor of 'Alcoholism & Addiction Magazine,' visited Mrs. Ford at her home in Rancho Mirage.
