according to the largest nonprofit anti-sexual assault organization in the united states, an american is sexually assaulted every 68 seconds. however, only 25 out of 1,000 perpetuators, a measly 2.5%, will end up in prison. why are there such a low percentage of rapists paying the price for their crimes? is it because society and the justice system as a whole don't value woman, who make up 90% of all sexual assault victims? or are there tactics used by the media to distance perpetuators from their assault in order to garner sympathy for them? in this weeks episode of chandy's corner, i explore the concepts of rape culture, consent and victim blaming in an attempt to understand why there seems to be a prevalent lack of proper justice. tw- rape and sexual assault. resources for sexual assault: https://www.rainn.org/national-resources-sexual-assault-survivors-and-their-loved-ones + https://www.nsvrc.org/

my graduation from high school, something which should've felt like an incredible accomplishment, seems anticlimactic at best. to be honest, it's not at all as exciting as i thought it would be. join me in this weeks episode as i voice my opinions on graduation, future plans, and what i would've done differently if i had the chance to go through high school all over again.
