Each month, we'll deep dive into a research topic with a guest and learn together. I'm just another student in your study group trying to make sense of the lectures, the articles, and the papers.

Fear of more and more screen time has been a growing fear for parents, especially as we enter the age of mobile technology and social media. What research is available to test the hypotheses of positive or negative impacts of screen time?

This month's topic: "Is Cow's Milk Healthy?" with guest Emily Rosengren.
Growing up in the US, cow's milk was marketed as a healthy drink: whole, two-percent, or skim. I grew up drinking a few glasses a day, largely because of the supposed nutrients and vitamins you can get. But growing concern and criticism on sugary drinks has put greater scrutiny on this supposed super drink. Studies and books like the The China Study argue that components in milk lead to greater cancer risk or bone loss. This board aims to consolidate the research on the impacts of drinking milk and its potential health benefits or consequences.

This month's topic: "Electric Guitars and Sound Quality" with guest Ren Chung Yu.
Any person who plays an electric guitar considers whether the material, the shape, and the body of the guitar impact the sound quality. Our goal is to look at research on impacts of different material and shape to determine if there are impacts to sound quality. This board will not go into string materials which is a separate question. This board will also only focus on electric guitars and not acoustic guitars.

This month's topic: "Singapore's Housing and Development Board (HDBs)" with my guest Shaokai Fan.
Singapore is cited by several policy wonks as having "solved" housing through its expansive Housing and Development Board (HDB) policies and incentive systems for buying public housing. We are examining the research around the outcomes of Singapore's HDBs and seeing how replicable these policies could be in other use cases.
