Continuing in verse 42 of Acts Chapter 2 and from the 3000 added to the Church, we see this multitude continuing steadfastly in the Christian life. We are told that they continued steadfastly in the Apostles Doctrine. Join us as we discover what the Apostles Doctrine is and why we should all continue steadfastly in it.
Moving on in the context of Acts 2:37-47, we begin looking into verse 42 where we are told that the 3000 that were added to the Church ‘Continued Steadfastly.’ Join us as we look into the 3000 being added, continuing, continuing steadfastly, God is the keeper of His people and how we ought then to behave as believers.
How did lame man end up at the Kings table? And what does this great old testament story tell show us? 2 Samuel 9
Continuing in Acts 2, and verse 41. Three thousand were added to the Church that day who were those that, "Received the Word gladly." The inference here shows that though many heard the word and received it gladly, there were also many that didn't. Is the Gospel really the 'Power of God unto salvation?' Does the fact that many reject it mean that the Gospel doesn't work anymore? is this the view of mainstream churches causing them to go to extra lengths to attract people to the Church? The Word of God never returns to Him void and will always achieve that for which it was sent. The Gospel Never Fails!!
1 John 3:6-10.
Sin a friend or foe? Can a Christian go on sinning? What is the relationship that a child of God has with sin? Does he still sin? Or is it a fight that remains?
Russ Clarke leads our second session in laying the foundation of the Pilgrims Path meetings. The 5 Solas of the Reformation are of vital importance to the Church which is why we decided upon spending our first five meetings looking at them beginning with 'Sola Scriptura', Scripture alone. Speaking from Romans 3:9-31 Nick takes us to the realities of the fallen nature of man, their sin against a Holy God and His wrath upon all unrighteousness to the blessed message of the gospel. The glorious truths of God's mercy and grace upon a wicked, helpless people. the beauty of Jesus Christ the Son of God who willingly laid down His life, bearing the sin of His people, being the substitute for them, redeeming them unto Himself, thus saving them eternally. To God be the glory!
Luke 10:38-42. The Account of Martha and Mary. The World is blinded to Christ and many of us get distracted with daily, and sometimes mundane things. But the story of Martha and Mary shows us that even in the the service of Christ, we can become cumbered, distracted and overcome by all that brings, getting too busy in the ministry, forgetting that relationship with Jesus is the very centre of it all. Are you like Martha, distracted in the doings of the Christian life? or are you like Mary who chose the best part which was to sit at the feet of Jesus and hear His word?
1 John 3:3-4.
As we continue to go through this epistle we come to verse 4 and 5, What is sin? What does that mean for us? And if there is a remedy, what then is that and how?
Jesus Christ is God the Son. Glorious, Almighty, Wonderful, prince of Peace, The creator of heaven and earth. All life is in Him and His name is above every name, and yet He is meek and lowly, a servant hearted saviour! Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. (Proverbs 16:19) Believers are called to be of the same mind and heart!
I John 3:1-3 The Apostle John reminds those who are born of God that they are now Children of God. The is the present condition of the believer, adopted into the family of God through Christs Work on the cross. We also see 2 outcomes of sonship,the World will not know you yet there is that hope of future Glory for when we see Him we will be like Him.

The evidence that one abides in Christ is that he loves righteousness. This is the beauty of the power of the gospel - he now loves righteousness! Why? Because he is born of God.
Ears to hear, hearts to receive? Just as Jesus spoke to the crowd who gathered to hear him, He speaks the same message to the church today. There are four types of soil but only one is good for fruitfulness. Let him who has ears to hear!!
The indwelling of the Holy Spirit comes at the moment of salvation, and yet we must seek daily to be filled as per Ephesians 5:18.
Romans 3:23. The reality, universality, totality, severity, and the resolution to falling short of the Glory of God
The gospel came to Thessalonica not just in word only, but in the power of God. We know the Apostles and some of their closest associates were moving in signs and wonders given to them to attest to the message they spoke forth, proving like Moses that God had indeed sent them. But is that what Paul speaks of here? Would seeing signs and wonders cause the people to turn from serving the countless idols of their culture to serve the living and true God? Remaining in verse 38 of Acts chapter two we read of how Peter not only speaks of the command to repent, but with the inclusive ‘and’, emphasises the importance of baptism.
The devout Jews from every known nation had heard the truth about themselves and the Truth about Christ. Being pierced through by the Word preached by Peter, helpless in this new found knowledge of their sin and offence to God, they cried out in desperation, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Peter responded simply but directly... Repent
The Vine, it’s branches and it’s fruit. God’s eternal plan for the seed of Abraham found only in the True Vine, Jesus Christ.
It is finished. John 19:30. These are the words that Jesus uttered before He died. What was meant? What was it that had finished? These words are the hope of our full and complete salvation.
Jesus Christ the Son of God came in the flesh. He lived for us! He died for us! And He was raised for our justification! Romans 4:25. A Resurrection Sunday message.
The Apostle John, calls us to Abide in Christ. This is a union which is unbreakable and eternal. The abiding man is a man who continues to continue in God's grace.
I John 2:28
Part 3 in a series from Acts 2:37-47. Having previously looked at the phrases, “When they heard this” and “They were pierced in their heart” Russ moves into the cry from those who truly heard, “men and brethren, what must we do.” Have our hearts been pierced? Have we been left helpless by a deep sense of our sin? Is the the cry of our hearts, “What shall we do” or are we like the rich young ruler who asking a similar question, assumed it was merely a case of doing something good in order to secure eternal life?
We live in the last days, what are these days? We are warned in scripture of “The Antichrist”, the man of perdition who will seem to be the answer to the worlds problems. But what about closer to home? There are anti Christs amongst us, we must recognise this and seek to be aware. Join Ryan as he lead us through 1 John 2:18-27
Speaking from John 18:28 - 19:5, Ryan shows us that Pilate said three times, ‘I Find no fault in this man.’ A truer word could not have been spoken. Christ lived a perfect life in full obedience to the law. This was necessary for Him to be the sacrifice - The Lamb without blemish. Christ not only died, but lived as our substitute. He came to save people from their sin.
Part two of the series taken from Acts 2:37-47. In this message we look at how those who heard Peter’s first sermon were, ‘Pierced in their hearts’, broken with conviction of sin as apposed to the Pharisees who were, ‘cut to the heart’ in rage, anger, vexation, and gnashed their teeth in hellish hardness of heart. Knowing that all are by nature, rejectors and haters of God, we must realise if we have a contrite spirit, a brokenness for sin and a real trust is Christ, it is a gift of God and because of His mercy, grace, and love.
John goes on now to warn us of worldliness. The love of the world, that being its systems and its Godless agenda. A world in which has rejected God, hated God's Christ and pursued its own way...this should not be the way of a Christian. 1 John 2:15-17
Speaking from Acts 2:37-47 Russ begins in the first half of verse 37, "Now when they heard this." When Peter stood with the eleven, such questions must be asked such as: Who was it that heard? What is it to hear? Hearing but not hearing? What is it that they heard? And the deep rooted question...have you really heard the gospel?
Psalm One “The blessed man”. A contrast between the Ungodly and the righteous, why we need see this and the Faith that makes the difference.
