This week is a reminder to look inward, instead of outward...to better come to know ourselves, which as Socrates said, "Is the beginning of all wisdom." And we can each take this first step by asking in each difficult situation the question, "Lord is it I?"

A New Year, A New Start, and Some New Changes Coming to the Daily Drive Podcast!

View Details

In our last personal growth episode that I will share before the coming new year, we'll look at how to overcome the number one thing that stops personal growth and development every year. And this unseen force is found in two little words... "I Can't." When we learn to embrace "I can't" as a part of what helps us get to "I Can", those negative thoughts and experiences become stepping stones, and a kind of fuel that can propel us to where we want to be.

View Details

In today's episode on personal growth and development, we are going to revisit a topic and principle that is at the heart of any and all success. We always see the loud, exciting, and observable results of success, but often fail to see the quiet, mundane, and more difficult to observe moments that lead to it. Your successes this year, won't be found in the accomplishments of your big goals and dreams, but in the quiet moments each day that will lead to them...one day and one moment at a time. Success is always accomplished quietly.

View Details

In today's episode on personal growth and development, we are  gong to focus on understanding more about how our mind's work and how much like a muscle it really is. I'll share how similar developing mental strength is to developing physical strength. The reason so many New Years resolutions fail to take hold can be found in coming to understand this principle about the human mind.

View Details

In todays top episode on personal growth and development, we are going to focus on shifting your thinking from Having things and Doing things this year to Being things. So that through Being, the Do's and the Have's will take care of themselves. It's a total shift in thinking for most of us, but one that will help set the tone for some incredible growth this coming new year!

View Details

In today's top episode on personal growth and development, I'm choosing the episode that started it all, episode 1. The Destination is the Journey. We need to be reminded of this often. The growth, the happiness and the development we seek and want for ourselves this coming year will be better found in the journey we take than it ever will be found in the destinations we make.

In our last Christmas episode, I’ll share a few thoughts about how, although Christmas is coming to an end, not to let it come to an end in your life. Christmas isn’t mean to be a single day lived, but a way to live every single day. The challenge for us is to make sure that Christmas does endure.

View Details

In today’s Christmas episode, I’m simply going to share a few life lessons to be learned from the Christmas decoration that holds the most central place in our homes during the Christmas season…and that’s a Christmas Tree.

View Details

In today’s Christmas episode, I’ll share a few thoughts about what More Christ can do, not only at Christmas time, but all the time, to see what we need to see and over come the blindness that is so prevalent in the world today. He continues, even today, to give sight to the blind.

View Details

In todays Christmas Episode, I’ll share a few thoughts about feeling alone and experiencing pain during Christmas time. For many Christmas isn’t the most wonderful time of the year…but it doesn’t mean it can’t become that…sometimes it just takes working through our pain and getting to the other side of it, which once there we might just find it can become one of our greatest assets.

View Details

In today episode, I’ll share a brief message about the best Christmas gift we can give to ourselves…the gift that will bring us the greatest happiness and the most joy…and here’s a hint, it’s not anything new.

View Details

In today’s episode, I’ll share a few Christmas thoughts about the roll Santa plays in Christmas and how to bring more Christ into the symbol that he can be for all of us…I love Santa Clause…but I love him even more because he has helped me to see Christ better in Christmas.

View Details

In todays Episode, I’m going to share a few thoughts about one of my favorite words that is emphasized in the movie The Polar Express and the word is “BELIEVE.” One of the greatest attributes we can develop and one of the greatest hearts we can have. A believing heart is what children have…and if you want to learn about what it means to believe…just watch children during the Christmas season.

View Details

In today’s episode, I’ll share a few thoughts about the greatest gift you can give your kids this Christmas and that is you! They will remember far longer the time you spent with them than what you gave to them. More Christ at Christmas time, equates to more time being given during Christmas to those you love. Just ask Howard Langston in the Movie Jingle All The Way. It’s Turbo Time!

View Details

In todays episode, We’ll look more in depth into one of my most favorite symbols of Christmas…the Christmas Star. This star teaches some of the most powerful lessons a person can learn about the God behind it’s creation…as well as how to see the stars placed in our lives just for us, to help us find our way to him. And finally how to be that star for others!

View Details

Todays episode center’s around one of my favorite Christmas phrases and reminders…”Wise Men Still Seek Him” Today, I’ll share a thought about what that looks like in both Christmas and in life, and where Christ is most likely to be found for all of those that are seeking him…and we’ll use Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol to do it!

View Details

In today’s episode I’ll share a few thoughts about the symbols of Christmas…we may see all the lights, the trees, the wreaths, the candles, the candy canes, the stars, the bells, and even Santa…but do we really see the symbols that they are, what they represent and what they can teach? One way we can see more Christ in Christmas is to see Christ more in the symbols of Christmas.

View Details

In today’s episode I’ll share with you one of my favorite metaphors from the Christmas Nativity story…that of the Innkeeper. One of the best lessons we can learn about Christmas and life comes from the simple line that Luke tells us was the state of the inns in Bethlehem and that was “and there was no room for them in the inn.” I hope that is a statement that will never be said of the inn that we keep!

View Details

In todays episode, I’ll share a thought about what it means to be a good receiver. I think we all know how to give but how to receive might be a little more difficult. The advantage we have at Christmas time, is that there is plenty of opportunities to learn how to be both!

View Details

In this episode, I’ll share a favorite thought from another classic Christmas move…A Charlie Brown Christmas…and how important it is once we learn what Christmas and life is really all about to share it with those around us, those trying to understand what’s missing from their life and why happiness seems to be eluding them. Christmas wouldn’t have changed for Charlie Brown, had Linus not been able to tell him what he did.

View Details

In today’s episode, I’ll share a favorite Christmas thought from the 1970 classic TV movie, Santa Clause is Comin to Town. It’s a thought at the center of what Christmas is all about, a thought about how to really change. If the winter warlocks icy heart can melt than so can ours at times and others as well…we just need to be reminded of how.

View Details

In today’s episode, I’ll introduce you to Fred Clause, Santa’s older brother…bet you didn’t know Santa has an older brother. In this classic Christmas movie we’re taught a valuable lesson about how Christmas or more Christ can help us to look at each other. To see each other for what we can become, instead of all that we are not. To see the best in each other, instead of the worst…to understand why there are no naughty children.

View Details

In this Christmas edition Episode, I’ll share the true story of World War 2 Navy Sailor Lee W. Maloy and the Christmas Miracle he experienced while at see making his way home to the United States on Christmas Eve in 1944. A story that perfectly illustrates exactly what Christmas or more Christ can do, even between the worst of enemies.

View Details

In today’s Christ-Mas episode…I’ll discuss the value of a simple true selfless act and what can happen as a result of it. It’s a concept taken and taught powerfully in the movie Klaus on Netflix. It has become one of my most favorite Christmas movies for me and my kids because of how it inspires us to be better. In today’s episode, I’ll also announce our Christmas project that we’ll be doing to reach as many people as we can with a Christmas message of hope, of appreciation and of love.

View Details

In today’s episode I’ll share one of my most favorite principles about Christmas and how to get the most of Christmas, by letting go of what Christmas isn’t. Unbeknown to the Grinch, by removing all that Christmas wasn’t, he helped bring about all that Christmas was. Sometimes the greatest gift we can give ourselves at Christmas time is less not more.

View Details

In our first Christ-Mas Episode or More Christ Episode of the season, I'll share the secret to having a great Christmas and a true story about an incredible secret Santa that illustrates this point. Start asking yourself this question as you move into the holidays and the holidays will move you!

The most difficult times to be grateful are also the most important times to be grateful.

Our breath is what connects us to life and helps bring us back to center...and most of us are only breathing with a third of our capacity to breathe...maybe some of the best changes that can impact our life ought to start with the practice that sustains life, because as Mr. Miyagi said... In this special edition of the Daily Drive...I want to share a few thoughts about bullying. How to deal with it and how to protect our kids from it. We may not always be able to stop it from happening, but we can stop it from effecting our kids so much when it does. We can give them the principles, knowledge and tools to deal with it...while also inspiring them to make a difference in their schools, and among their friends. In today's Throwback Thursday episode, I'll share one of the most important principles that I've learned to hold on to, when it comes to the challenges I've faced and the prayers I've prayed. Prayers that at times have gone unanswered. Yes some of life's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers, but we can't always see that as clearly as Garth did later in his life...until then we need to have the faith that God can answer prayers, but also the faith to say "But if Not" then I will continue to have faith in something bigger that I can't see.

What is your fight? We all have one at any given moment...but the more important question is who are you leaning on for support...to whom in your life, is your fight there fight and are you allowing them into the fight with you. It's human nature that when things get hard we withdraw, when we could engage. Asking for help isn't weakness, it's something one does to remain strong!

In today's episode I'll share a few thoughts about the symbols of Christmas...we may see all the lights, the trees, the wreaths, the candles, the candy canes, the stars, the bells, and even Santa...but do we really see the symbols that they are, what they represent and what they can teach? One way we can see more Christ in Christmas is to see Christ more in the symbols of Christmas.

In today's episode I'll share with you one of my favorite metaphors from the Christmas Nativity story...that of the Innkeeper. One of the best lessons we can learn about Christmas and life comes from the simple line that Luke tells us was the state of the inns in Bethlehem and that was "and there was no room for them in the inn." I hope that is a statement that will never be said of the inn that we keep!

In this episode, I'll share a favorite thought from another classic Christmas move...A Charlie Brown Christmas...and how important it is once we learn what Christmas and life is really all about to share it with those around us, those trying to understand what's missing from their life and why happiness seems to be eluding them. Christmas wouldn't have changed for Charlie Brown, had Linus not been able to tell him what he did.

In today's episode, I'll share a favorite Christmas thought from the 1970 classic TV movie, Santa Clause is Comin to Town. It's a thought at the center of what Christmas is all about, a thought about how to really change. If the winter warlocks icy heart can melt than so can ours at times and others as well...we just need to be reminded of how.

In today's episode, I'll introduce you to Fred Clause, Santa's older brother...bet you didn't know Santa has an older brother. In this classic Christmas movie we're taught a valuable lesson about how Christmas or more Christ can help us to look at each other. To see each other for what we can become, instead of all that we are not. To see the best in each other, instead of the worst...to understand why there are no naughty children.

It has become one of my most favorite Christmas movies for me and my kids because of how it inspires us to be better. In today's episode, I'll also announce our Christmas project that we'll be doing to reach as many people as we can with a Christmas message of hope, of appreciation and of love.

In today's episode I'll share one of my most favorite principles about Christmas and how to get the most of Christmas, by letting go of what Christmas isn't. In today's Throwback Thursday episode, I'm sharing another of my personal favorites and most listened to episodes...Ep. 23 The Principle of Contrast...This principle has helped me have confidence that even though I can't completely shield myself and my children from the darkness found in this world, that it is ok. We are meant to live in a world of opposites...and sometimes it's the contrast that helps us see best the truth of something. Sometimes it's the dark, that helps us to best see the light.

In this episode, I'll share a few thoughts about how and why to trust the processes in play in your life. There is purpose behind what you are experiencing and there is an opportunity to choose whether to be empowered by it, or become embittered from it. It's all about learning to value the process over the product.

In this episode I'll share a few thoughts about how to stop going through the star on and star off machine of social media, by constantly comparing yourself with others and learn to be happier and more content with who you are and what you have. Comparing has been referred to as the thief of all joy, and for those that get caught up in comparing themselves on social media, they will find that statement to be true. We'll never be able to be happy, while living through others happiness...the secret to happiness is actually to learn to forget about the stars upon thars!

In this THROW BACK THURSDAY episode, I'll share another one of my most downloaded episodes and personal favorites, "The Art of Letting Go." Life is a profound experience in loss, and how we learn to handle loss, will in many ways will help define what we will gain from this life. Learning to let go, is one of the most important arts that we can master and will help the masterpiece of our lives turn out, not necessarily the way we want or think how it should, but the way it is meant to, and the way that will help us to learn and grow the most from it. However, that will only happen as quickly as we learn the art of letting go.

In this episode, I'll share a few thoughts about what it means to be all in, in all that you do. We all have a lot of targets that we'd like to hit, but in becoming multitasking masters, we don't focus long enough on any target to really aim at it...and as someone once said, if you aim at nothing, you will hit nothing. So in this episode, we'll talk about how to aim at the most important targets in life, your work, your spouse, your children and family, your finances, your faith, your hopes and dreams and yourself and how to hit them by being all in with them.

In a follow-up to my first episode on dealing with addiction (Ep. 90 Let Them Fall) I want to balance the principles I shared in it, with this one today (Help them up). While addiction is something all of us will have to face, it's important to understand how to face it...when to allow someone to fall, and when to help someone up. These two episodes work together to help find that balance. The balance between enabling and serving, between giving a hand out vs. a hand up. In this episode today, I'll share a few thoughts from my experience with addiction over the years and how to best love, support and show compassion to ourselves and others, when climbing out of the pit of addiction. And I'll refer to the LORD of the RINGS to illustrate how to best do it.

In this episode, I'll share a few thoughts about an inscription we see, touch and use almost daily. The inscription on our currency that reads, "In God We Trust." The origins of this inscription and moto can help us all adopt it more fully in our lives...as we look to the past, we can better understand why, we can trust God in our present, and have faith in the promise of a wonderful future. I love this motto, statement and at times even a question that is posed to us, every time we hold a coin, or dollar in our hands or sometimes even find one on the ground.

In this episode I'll share a few thoughts about the power of a thought and how to develop the most important muscle we have...the muscle of the mind. It's ok if we feel like our mind gravitates to negative thinking...this is natural! Just as a weight is pulled down by gravity, our mind is constantly being pulled down by negativity. This actually is what helps create the resistance needed to develop mental strength...The same process that helps develop a muscle in the body, is what can help us develop the muscle of the mind.

In this episode, we'll explore the concept of the shadow self, how to recognize it, accept it and work on it. Until we learn to see and accept both the good and the bad in us, we'll never really accept ourselves as we are. The journey to our true authentic self, is comprised of both light and dark, because there is both in every person. The important thing is what we choose to do with it. Just because their is darkness in you, it doesn't mean you are a bad person.

God will lead us to some amazing places, but first he will often lead through some pretty broken places...but there is a purpose and a reason for it...and it is to develop one of the greatest character traits we can have, the ability to surrender. With God, surrendering isn't a weakness, it's a strength.

In this episode I'll share a few thoughts about how to remove those limiting beliefs that we all have about ourselves, the world, or just life in general. Somewhere along the lines, we've all picked up beliefs that can limit our potential. Learning to become aware of these limiting beliefs and then breaking through them, is where we find out what we are capable of, who it is we are truly meant to be, and just how limitless our potential really is.

In this episode, I'll share a few thoughts to help see the good in all things, and to trust God more when he says that all things work together for our good. Developing this ability will be one of the hardest things we will ever do, but this ability will also see us through the hardest experiences we will ever have. In it's development we will learn to trust that God is there, that he does care about us and that our experiences as hard as they might be are meant to help us become all that we can be. We will see that life is good, because we know that God is good.

In this episode, I'll share a story about the danger of taking shortcuts and how the person that benefits the least from them is you. In this episode, I'll share a few thoughts about how to begin developing faith and most importantly when. With the growing challenges that our world is facing and all the uncertainty and fear they bring, developing the kind of faith that is resilient and can see us through these challenges is the only way we will be able to keep our faith through them. There will certainly be tough days a head and testing experiences that life will bring to each of us, so let's look today at where to start, or what might be considered developing faith 101.

In this episode, I'll share a concept of mindfulness that asks the question are you a scout or a soldier? Which mindset you have, that you develop, can largely determine the way you see the world and see your life. If truth is our primary objective than one of these mindsets will help lead you to truth, while one might cause you to fight against it. Have you ever wondered how someone can think to strongly that they are right, when they are clearly wrong? It's because of the mindset they have developed in themselves. If we want to find truth, we must develop the mindset that will lead us to the source of all truth, which is Christ.

In this episode, I'll share an amazing scientific experiment that shows the power words can have on the molecular composition of water! But more importantly remind us all of the transformational power our words can have not just on water but on people and on ourselves. The words we speak in many ways can be as powerful as the words God speaks and can have the same affect on those that hear them. The principles in this episode can help remind all of us, of the oft forgotten power words can have to build, inspire, heal and lift, or to tear down, hurt and destroy. It's a power we all have, but that we all don't have control of. So much good can come to us, our families and our world if we can learn to master the power of our words, and we can learn it best by having the master of all write his name in our hearts.

In this episode, I'll share a few thoughts to help empower you in whatever situations you find yourself in. In life there are things that are made to act and things made to be acted upon. You are not made to be acted upon, by life, by circumstance, or by other people...although others may try to control or manipulate you, or you may be tempted to feel like a victim, you always have a choice and are expected to act. And that choice begins by choosing to either react or to respond.

In today's episode I'll share an experience I had with my daughter recently in trying to decide whether or not to try something new. Each one of us will have opportunities almost daily to try new things, to have new experiences, and whether or not we take them, depends on whether or not we are open to having both good experiences and bad experiences. This is because the only way to find the best fishing spots on a river, is to fish the whole river and also find many fishing spots that aren't so good.

In this episode I'll share a few thoughts about where success is best found. We always see the results but rarely the process it takes to get the results. Success isn't found in big things, but in little things. The process of success isn't spoken of loudly, because it learned when it is quiet. The success we all want, must be won from the loudest battles that take place on the quietest of battlefields. And those battlefields are inside of each of us.

In this episode I'll share what I consider to be the number one reason, why no matter what comes our way, there is no reason to worry, no reason to fear. Why we should believe, instead of doubt. Choose faith over fear... And trust that although at times we don't know what will happen next, there is someone that always knows all the time what will next happen... And that he has already put the solutions into motion long before the problems ever came to be.

So don't worry... Be happy!

In the world today, where everyone is so quick to hurl rocks, and insults at each other, we need more people who aren't afraid to step in the middle and catch those stones before they hit their mark or at least try to soften their blows. The old adage, if you can't say anything good about someone, then don't say anything at all seems to have been lost, in this episode we'll try to find it again.

There isn't anyone that will listen to this episode who's life won't take a wrong turn at some point in their life. How to break free from finding your validation from sources and accomplishments outside of you and find it instead from who you are on the inside. When we live with expectations based on things outside of us, we miss finding our true worth from within us.

In this episode, I'll share a few principles that can help make sure that any pressure we feel from our peers is positive and not negative. Negative peer pressure is one of the most power reasons a person might choose to do something that they don't want to do or that goes against their principles. The peers you surround yourself with can make all the difference for good and bad in a persons life, as we often become the type of person we surround ourselves with. This episode will help you better tell the difference in your life between those that can lift you up and those that can bring you down.

In this episode, I'll discuss how to recognize the different types of friendships and people that come in and out of our lives, and how to allow them to be what they were meant to be for us. Some people will come into our lives for a season, some for a reason and some for a lifetime. Learning to allow others to be what they are meant to be for us, helps to allow our life to unfold in the way it is meant to unfold. It also helps us to better see the one who is guiding people into our lives and us into others lives, and recognize there is a purpose in each relationship we experience.

We've all heard the phrase, "I can do hard things." In this episode we'll look a phrase that takes it one step further, "I must do hard things." Life is not meant to be easy, it's meant to be hard and the sooner we come to accept and understand that, the easier it will be to face those hard things. It's in these hard moments where we become most vulnerable but also where we can grow the most as we move forward to better place than we were before. In this way, we'll look at how life can follow a similar pattern as the hermit crab.

It's the bad days that help us to appreciate the good ones...and where we just might have the opportunity to grow the most.

Being grateful for things that are good in life is the beginning of gratitude. Learning to be grateful in any circumstance is where gratitude ends. It's one thing to see what is good as a blessing and another thing to see what is bad as a potential blessing...because it often is, at least in a way we often don't expect it to be. Learning to not judge a moment as bad, keeps us free from defining the moment as bad and instead allows us to trust in God and his plan for us and to believe that even the most difficult of set backs can be the very things that will help us to move forward the most.

In this episode, I'll share a few principles to help better accept a person's right to live how they choose, without accepting how they choose to live. We all should be allowed to believe and live how we choose to, and support each others rights to do so. Learning to walk the line between acceptance and tolerance can be a difficult thing...especially if you don't agree with the choices, beliefs and lifestyle of another. This episode can help bridge the gap between those differences, while allowing for those differences. I believe it is possible to be united while there are many different sates of living...in fact our country is patterned after that concept...We're not the United States because we always agree, but because we find a way to accept each others disagreements, while still finding common ground enough to be united.

In this episode I'll take a look at one of the most important questions we can ask ourselves and that is, "where is our treasure?" The asking of that question can lead to discovering what it is that we place the most value on. Discovering what is of most value to us will impact who we are and who we become. It's never to late to define what we value and in so doing, define who we are and who we become. As we come to see where we are and what we value, maybe we'll decide it's time for a new treasure hunt.

In this episode, I'll share a few thoughts about how to find the right balance between acceptance and change. Being ok with who you are, while pushing yourself to be more. Being better at accepting yourself and others, while also believing you and others can be better. In this episode I'll share a few more principles about how to overcome fear in life. Fear may be a part of life but learning to live a life apart from fear is a destination we can all learn to get to. How do we best do this?...That's what we'll explore in this episode. "Never not be afraid" was the motto of a family known as the Croods, for living their lives until they learned to let go of their fears, follow the light and trust in the promise of a better tomorrow.

As a wise cave man father, by the name of Grug once said..."what's the point of all of this?" "It's to follow to the light."

A short while ago, a friend asked me... "What does a healthy relationship look like?" I thought that was such a great question and one worth exploring a bit. What does a healthy relationship look like? How can you tell if your relationship is healthy? What does it mean to be healthy in a relationship? And how can you see when your relationships are not? These are the questions we'll discuss and explore a bit as we try to better understand the signs to look for, and what we can do to improve the health of the relationships we are currently in. Hopefully improving our relationships to a point where we can honestly say to the one we love..."I'm never gonna give you up."

This is an episode that I believe everyone needs to hear...Co-dependency will touch every person's life in several of the relationships that they have. It is the most subtle relationship problem yet one of the most destructive of all. Co-dependency is found in any relationship that tries to fill a bottomless void due to not feeling whole and loved as an individual. It's not the need to be loved that's the issue, it's the inability to love one's self that causes the dysfunction. In this episode we'll take a look at what co-dependency is, how to recognize it, and how to heal and overcome it. This episode can help every relationship you have become better than it was before.

In this episode I'll discuss why prayer is one of the most influential aspects of becoming the best version of ourselves and achieving our full potential. Prayer is what keeps us grounded and connected to what matters most in life. However, there is an aspect of prayer that is important to understand. Prayer at times can be a wrestle. A wrestle between our will and God's. Prayer is what helps bring both our will and his will, into alignment. Although it can be difficult it is always worth it. Because sometimes all it takes is one prayer to change everything.

In this episode we'll discuss and look at a life built around expectation and how to move more towards living in intention. Learning to let go of expectations can be hard, but will be one of the most freeing experiences of your life. When a person learns to let go of control, and moves towards acceptance, it opens the door to living life the way it was meant to be lived. We develop the ability to accept life as it is, but also with live with the intent of it being so much more. We learn to trust the flow and the process to get us where we want to go, instead of trying to force things that can't be forced and control things that aren't ours to control. In this episode we'll take a look at a the very common practice of "shoulding on ourselves" and how it unknowingly takes power away from us and others, and instead fills us and others with feelings of shame and not being good enough. Not only can these types of thoughts affect us mentally, but studies have shown a connection between these types of thoughts and a loss of physical power as well. The answer to these powerless thoughts is found in a single empowering word, and has become one of my most favorite words that I use.

In this episode we'll look a little more closely at the power of decision and choice, through the concept of "switch points." Each persons life is, by and large, the sum total of the little decisions that they have made, even more so than the large ones. If the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, then there maybe no more important step to take that the first one you decide to make, that is until you take the next one, and then the next one...because each step although small, will either lead you closer to your desired destination or further away.

In this episode we'll explore the very common practice of self sabotage. Why it happens, how to recognize it, and what to do about it. Self sabotaging behaviors happen on a subconscious level and often are the result of traumatic events in our lives, from which we have learned unhealthy coping behaviors that once the traumatic event is over, we continue to allow play out in our lives. Mindfulness and connecting with God, and sometimes professional help will help to identify these patterns and help you heal and correct them so you can move forward in your life in big ways. We all have limiting behaviors that we must overcome to reach new levels of success and fulfillment in life.

In this episode we'll take a look at the four common types of boundary problems that a person can have. The more these problems are able to been seen in others, the more you'll be able to see them in yourself and be able to take the necessary steps to correct them.

In this episode, I'll share a wonderful practice and skill for developing a positive mindset. It's the art of thought conversion. We'll look at how to disconnect more from your thoughts and look at them as a passive observer. In this way, you'll learn how to keep more of those thoughts that are positive and let go of those that are negative and potentially destructive to you. Thoughts are like clothes, you can put them on and take them off, keep those you like and get rid of those you don't. The more positive and uplifting the wardrobe of our minds, the better we will feel while wearing those thoughts in our life.

In this episode I'll share some thoughts about how to better find happiness by better understanding what happiness isn't. Many of us become trapped by the false ideas and myths surrounding happiness. Happiness isn't something we can pursue, it is something that must ensue...We can't find it as much as it can find us.

In this episode, we'll take a look at what balance is and not as much how to find it, but how to create it. Creating balance is one of the most important things we can create to establish a healthy and happy life. However, with so much fighting for our time, creating balance is not an easy thing to do. But with God's help and a few principles from "The Karate Kid" at least we have a fighting chance!

In this episode, I'll discuss a little about what it takes to let go of things that are hurtful to us. How the essence of the Gospel of Christ is to help us let go of things that can hold us back and to live a better way and follow a higher law. It's a change that doesn't take place on the outside, but on the inside. There are many things that we are holding onto that God is waiting for us to give Him and with His help, we can.

In a rather personal episode, I'll share a few thoughts about what I learned from a couple of the hardest experiences in my life...A few thoughts and principles to help any one when life knocks you down and when you feel like staying down. Principles to help you get back up for another round...and that can help bring a little insight into why God may not always show up in the way we would hope he would. As Rocky Balboa once said, "Life isn't about how hard you can hit, but how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward!"

In this episode, I'll share a few thoughts about a phrase I often hear others say...and that is that "I'm spiritual not religious." Religion almost has a negative connotation today and in some cases for good reason. While I agree, our personal relationship with God is what matters most...I wonder if there is room for both?...and if so what that looks like? Can a person be both spiritual and religious? I believe they can but it takes understanding the intent and purpose behind both and how they can work together to help connect us in a powerful way to God and to each other.

In this episode I'll share a few thoughts about the fundamentals that are essential to experiencing the best health possible our life, as well as a few thoughts on how to better implement them in yours. So many of the problems I've found in the way people feel about themselves and their lives can be traced back to one or more of these fundamentals being out of place. Just like with a building, if the foundation isn't there, the building won't be for very long either. Why bother growing and building our lives, if we don't have the foundation to support it.

In this episode, I'll share a few thoughts and principles about how to keep from letting others in your life pull and drag you down. How to instead be the kind of person that pulls others up. Someone that leaves an impression for good and not someone that gets influenced to go in a negative direction that they don't want to go. And most importantly how to be equally yoked with Christ.

In this episode I'll share a thought from an experience with my daughter about one possibility as to why bad things happen to good people...or why bad things happen to find us when we are doing our best to be good. Life can definitely throw us some curve's with certain experiences we were not expecting to have, but there is power when we can look at an experience as  the opportunity I believe it is.

In this episode I'll share a few thoughts and experiences I've had as a parent that have led me to the conviction that the best teaching moments happen naturally.  While it is great to have set, planned lessons, talks and discussions with others, the best teaching is always done organically, when both the teacher and those being taught are in alignment with each other. When one is ready to give and another truly ready to receive, the teaching and learning that takes place can reach the depths of the heart...but those moments don't come easy nor can they be forced...which means as a teacher, you must always be ready to teach.

More important than writing our own story may very well be at times changing our own story. In this episode I'll share a few thoughts about how powerful our stories are in creating our reality, but also how easy it can be to get stuck in negative stories, and even the wrong story...when this happens, it is up to us to change them so we can escape their negative gravity. Our story defines who we are and it's in editing our story that we ensure it adds to our life in a positive way instead of  holding us back.

In this episode, I'll share a few thoughts on another common boundary problem, the fixer. Fixers are typically benevolent individuals who want the world to be a better place and for others to be happy...however the fixer fails to take into account the need for struggle. Inadvertently the fixer can rob someone of the very process they need to go through in order to grow themselves. A fixers boundaries are broken in that they try to take in responsibility for those that they are not responsible for. Learning to allow others to fix things themselves, even when you can do it for them and do it better, is a gift that will help them become more self sufficient and confident in who they are...It's ok to let others hurt, struggle and solve their own problems.

In this episode I'll share a few thoughts on another serious boundary problem, the people pleaser. Born out good intentions, people pleasing sounds like a benevolent thing to do and be, but not at the expense of one's self. People pleasers do more for others out of fear of rejection, and a need for validation then out of true intention. People pleasers often are disconnected from their own feelings, thoughts and opinions and instead bow down to the demands of others at their own expense. Their boundaries are misaligned in that they often have no boundaries. When boundaries are correctly in place it allows for a person to be confident enough with who they are so they can give from a place of true authenticity, instead of pressure and fear.

In this episode I'll share thoughts on one of the most dangerous and rapidly growing boundary problems in the world today, perfectionism. With the advent of all the ways we connect and be seen in the world today, especially through social media, the pressure of portraying a perfect life has increased exponentially, giving rise to an increase in perfectionism in society. Perfectionism is a suffocating way to live life...because it is the farthest thing from being authentic. Perfectionism does not allow room for mistake or to be seen making a mistake, which ironically is the very bridge we all must cross in order to improve and even begin to approach perfection.

In this episode, I'll share a few thoughts about the toxic people that will inevitably come into our lives and how to best deal with them. How to avoid letting them suck the life, and joy out us. As much as we'd love to help everyone, sometimes we need to help ourselves first, especially when someone else is bringing us down. Toxic means poisonous, and harmful in a pervasive and even insidious way, and unfortunately there are a lot of people whom that description fits very well. And the reality is toxicity is attracted things which are non toxic, so it can more effectively spread it's poison...While loving and helping others, we all still need to be on guard for those that can hurt us, more than we can help them.

Based on Garth Brooks Song, "Unanswered Prayers", SOMETIMES we all will thank God for unanswered prayers, especially like with Garth, when we can see how they ended up being a blessing to us. However, I wonder if we can get to place where we can thank God all the time, not just sometimes, for unanswered prayers? Even those times when we can't see why a prayer wasn't answered? That is where the faith comes in! In this episode, I'll share a few thoughts on how we can come to thank him ALL THE TIME for unanswered prayers.

In this episode I'll share a few thoughts on one of the most powerful influences for good and bad that we have in life, and that is the power that is in music. From the moment we are born, music begins to impact our lives, whether it is in a lullaby that sings a baby to sleep or a song that affects a person's mood. Music has been referred to as the sound track of our lives and it really is. However it is also a powerful delivery system to our heart and mind, influencing in powerful ways both our thoughts and emotions. It is a power that we need to better utilize and also better guard ourselves against.

In this episode, I'll share a truth I've come to learn that was shared with me by a psychologist after years of working with people and that is that "Life is designed to repeat itself until we get it right." I'll share a few thoughts to help better identify the unhealthy patterns in play in your own life as well as how to begin to change them...otherwise they will just continue to repeat themselves until you do. In this episode, I'll share a few thoughts for those times that we have things said about us or others that are hurtful and untrue. We live in a world that loves to spread gossip and rumors and untruths. We may not always be able to keep hurtful things from being said about us but by understanding the hurt places they are coming from we can better keep them from always hurting us. The hurtful things said about others may not always start with us, but they can always end with us as we choose not to add pass them on and continue to give them life...regardless, in the end it's truth that will live. Everything else falsely said will eventually die.

Fear will always be the greatest obstacle we will face in getting to where we wan to go, but once we recognize this, understand what it is, why we feel it, and what is on the other side of it. Fear can actually be a powerful indicator that we are heading in the right direction. The more we push through our fears, the more comfortable we will become with being uncomfortable...and we'll recognize the payoff is absolutely worth it!

In this episode I'll share a few thoughts and principles about how to turn our painful experiences into the blessings they can be in our lives and to others. How to give purpose to our pain. I'll share the true story of Bart Millard lead singer of the band Mercy Me and the author to the most popular Christian Music Song of all time, "I can only imagine." The power isn't in the song as much as it is in the story behind how the song was written. How Bart took all the pain of his life's experience and with God's help healed himself and has helped thousands of others to find healing themselves. As difficult as painful experiences in life can be, with God's help, we can give them purpose.

Of all the people that we have relationships with, the most important relationship you have other than with God will always be with yourself. If knowledge is the beginning of wisdom that knowing yourself is the beginning of becoming wise yourself. In a world where we are becoming more connected with others, we are as a result loosing connection with ourselves. Taking time for you is always time well spent and by taking your V.I.T.A.L.S from time to time will help ensure you don't end up figuratively on life support...while trying to find your way back to you.

In this episode, I'll share a few thoughts about the importance of always creating and visualizing new things and experiences. Kids find some of their greatest joy in life when they tap into their God given abilities to create. The saddest of adults I've ever come across have almost always neglected or forgotten to use their power to create. Creation is what makes life worth living. The more we create or experience creation the happier we will be. There is a desire to create in every living person that needs to be tapped into, in order for them to feel truly happy, fulfilled and alive.

There is not much more of an important attitude and mindset to cultivate than that of being open to learning. In this episode I'll share a few thoughts about why having a mind open to learning is so vital to progressing in life and how to best develop it. To have a closed mind in any situation whether we've heard it before, or seen it before, or even experienced it before, is to close the door to the learning we might have received had we kept our mind open. We can never stop learning because life never stops teaching!

In this episode I'll share a few thoughts about how important time is and shockingly how so much of it is spent during our lives. The little bit of time that we truly have on this earth and how we use it, can shape everything from our lives, to our happiness and relationships and eventually to what eternity looks like for us. There is no greater currency we can spend then the time we have each and every day. Whether we look back on our lives with joy or regret comes down to one thing...how did we spend our time.

In this episode I'll share a few thoughts to help us keep those influences at bay that are all around us and that seek to become masters over us. The longer I live my life the more convinced I am that the only protective control that will eventually be left in this world will be self control. Some of the greatest things we can teach our kids is how to develop this control while they are with us and why it is so important they learn it. Otherwise they will be destined to have these powerful influences control them. The subtlety of how these things can become masters over us instead of us being masters over them is what is most frightening.

In todays episode, I'll share a few thoughts about how to make important decisions correctly. As one saying goes, decisions determine destiny. Not all decisions are of equal weight. Some certainly will impact our destiny more than others. It's those decisions we need to get right. God has not left us alone to make them. He has given us several things in our lives to help point the way if we'll look for them, and use them to help us. He also is a God of second chances and even when we don't make a decision correctly we can always make the decision to get back on track with his help.

In this episode I'll share a few thoughts about how to best grow any relationship that is important to us. If we took an accounting of our relationships as much as we do of our finances we would have a better picture of any potential deficiencies that exist and make the necessary deposits to keep them out of the red. Building a relationship is like building wealth, it grows one deposit at a time, one investment at a time...however like with finances if all we make is withdrawals we run the risk of our relationship becoming bankrupt.

In this episode I'll share another important aspect to understand about boundaries. Boundaries are not just fences or walls that keep things in or that keep things out but they need to be permeable, in that they need to be able to allow things in and also allow things out. There needs to be a gate, that we control for these types of things to come in and out. The best boundaries are strong enough to keep things in and and other things out, but at times are also soft enough to allow good things to come in and bad things to go out.

We all need to have and be the kind of friend that may not always tell others what they want to hear but will always tell others what they need to hear. That is the mark of a true friend. Someone that is willing to put your welfare and wellbeing even above your own friendship. Someone that would rather being seen as the enemy than to let your enemies hurt you. In this episode I'll discuss the relationship between saying "I'm sorry" and "it's ok." Being able to forgive and when necessary asking for forgiveness. The hurt that comes from others is often more about them then us ... And the forgiveness we give others is often more for us then it is for them.

Learning to forgive, is about learning to set ourselves free.

But at times the power to forgive won't come from us.

The enough equation is simple math for feeling safe, secure and enough in our lives and with who we are. Every single one of us has the need to feel safe and secure... But how we try to get there is where the equation can fall out of alignment. When the different parts of this equation are out of alignment, life becomes out of alignment. Understanding this equation will help you better keep your worth, power and safety all where they are meant to be.

In this episode I will share some thoughts on one of the greatest patterns you apply in your life...the pattern of BE. Do. Have. I'll also share ways in which we struggle to understand this pattern and how easy it can be to get it wrong. When we live with intention the other two fall into place on their own.

In this episode I'll share a few thoughts about how to make a difference wherever you find yourself, whether it's at home, at school, at work and in your community. It's the little things we can choose to do that make the biggest differences in those places we are in. We just need to choose to lift wherever we stand. The development of this practice is also ironically the best way to lift ourselves as well.

In this episode, I will discuss what I feel is the most important aspect of any relationship and how to develop the kind of love that lasts. In a world obsessed with love languages, compatibly signs, and the science of love in relationship. We seem to miss the one aspect that can help deepen a relationship more than any of them. This is what I want my daughters to know about love in any relationship.

In this episode I will share a few thoughts about one of my favorite quotes of all time...something that speaks to what I believe is at the heart of life's purpose. We live in a world where it is natural to want it all. However one of the great dichotomies of life is that we are only enough with it all when we are able and willing to let it all go..  Because if you are not enough without it you will never be enough with it. I hope you remember and like the movie cool runnings!

In this episode I'll share a few thoughts about the significance of filling our lives with good and how to better recognize and eliminate those sources that are having a negative effect on us mentally, emotionally and spiritually. We best protect who we are and who we can become by protecting what we allow into our hearts and minds while simultaneously increasing the light and truth in us.

We truly become what we think.
