Well, I suppose all things end at some point...
I'm moving on to another history podcast project which has actually been a goal of mine for a number of years now and I've got a team working on it with me now so I'm going to focus my energy into that. The AS(Fem)R podcast and the YouTube channel are both going to stay up but I just will no longer be active with them.
IF this podcast was something you enjoyed or subscribed to, please let me know at asfemr.stories@gmail.com or DM me on Instagram @asfemr.stories! The thing with podcasting is that you can't see how many people are subscribed, just how many listens so you're kind of creating content in a vacuum. If it's something that people miss, I am going to look at coming back to it on a bi-weekly or monthly status.
Thank you SO much for the listens and follows! Thank you for following me on my creative journey, it's been fun to do this.
The next project I'm working on will be a podcast titled Hightailing Through History and it will be a cannabis-fueled adventure through history's weird, lesser-known moments and people (as well as a few familiar favorites!) The start date for that is looking to be a month from now while we prepare research but you can follow us on Instagram @HightailingHistory for more information as it comes out!
Thank you again! Take care!

Welcome back!
In celebration of Asian and Pacific Islanders Heritage Month, I will be covering stories on Asian and Pacific Islander women for the remainder of May (as well as in future months too of course!)
Which is why tonight’s story is going to transport us back to the Hawaiian Islands in the 1800s. Before it became America’s 50th state and a massive tourist destination. We're going back to when Hawaii was its own sovereign nation ruled by a monarchy. Tonight our sleep story is on the last sovereign monarch of Hawaii, Queen Lili'uokalani.

Good evening! Welcome back!
It's June and that means it's Pride month but where did Pride come from? When did it start and who started it? Tonight we have a double story of the two trans women who fought for those in the margins of the marginalized and the event that cemented them as Pride and gay liberation icons in the LGBTQ+ Community.
Content Warning:
Tonight’s story contains discrimination and violence against people of color and the LGBTQ+ community, survival sex work involving a child and brief mentions of suicide. Please use discretion.
Correction!!:
I goofed and called Sylvia Rivera’s 1973 Pride Rally speech the “Y’all Better Calm Down” Speech (maybe because that is something I feel like I would say) and it is actually the “Y’all Better Quiet Down” Speech. There is a link below if you care to watch it in its entirety. It’s fiery. Also, there is some strong language.
Mentioned Media and Organizations:

Today we conclude the story on Helen Keller with the second part of her autobiography The Story of My Life.
This episode includes chapters 13-23.
My deepest apologies for the change in sound around the 50 minute mark and until approximately 90 minutes or so. In a bind, I had to use my computer microphone so there is a little bit of an echo and it is slightly louder. I tried to edit it and I got it better but still, you deserve perfection with your peaceful sleep. Again, I'm sorry about that!

Hello and welcome back to AS(Fem)R!
I have a little different version of storytelling for you this week. This was something I planned to do down the line for authors and poets whose works were in the public domain but it just so happens that the autobiography for Helen Keller is in the public domain and, instead of researching and writing my OWN story on her, I figured who better than to tell her own story than the woman herself in her own words!
Helen Keller is someone I knew very little about before reading her story so I am learning right alongside of you!
This episode includes chapters 1-11 and the remaining half of the book will be released this Thursday, April 22nd so you won't have to wait a full week :-)

Do you like your sleep stories with a heaping side of vengeance? If so, you're going to love Boudica, the Iceni warrior queen in Roman Britain.

Hello and welcome back to AS(Fem)R! This week's story is about Henrietta Lacks and her incredible "immortal" cells. Although she might not be a household name, I would be so bold as to say that not a single person that listens to this episode HASN'T been affected by Henrietta in some way.
Tonight's whispered story introduces Henrietta the person and discusses her legacy to medicine and the controversy that surrounds her story. I hope it brings you relaxation and deep sleep.

Hello and welcome back to AS(Fem)R!
This evening's episode is about Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.
On the YouTube ASMR channel, we colored a picture of Frida which you can print and color for yourself as well https://coloring-pages.info/self-portrait-with-necklace-of-thorns-by-frida-kahlo-printable-coloring-pages-book-18100
**Correction: The first time I pronounce the word Tehauna as Tay-hana instead of Teh-wanna, which is later corrected in the rest of the video (and I hope that THAT is correct but please let me know if it isn't. It's really important to me that words are pronounced correctly)
Content Warning I will be talking about Frida's bus accident. It's a very important event that I didn't want to skip over. I will be recounting the event and her injuries but I will not be going into great detail or gore. I have cued you in the video as to the start and stop of that section so you can skip over it easily if you feel like it is something that might bother you.

Happy International Women's Day!
Today's sleep story is about Ada Lovelace, considered by many to be the first computer programmer. In this episode, we learn about who Ada's parents were and the "nurture and nature" effect they both had on her. We also dive into her passion for mathematical engineering and the man and machine who ignited it--Charles Babbage and his Analytical Engine. Her life's work leaves us with a host of "what if" questions as we imagine the future that Ada and Babbage could have ushered into existence...
Pleasant dreams!

Did you know the most successful pirate in history was a Chinese sex worker-turned-pirate captain? At her height in the early 1800's, her fleet was upwards of 8,000 ships and 50,000--80,000 crew members!
In our historical sleep story tonight, we learn all about pirate Ching Shih and how she went from rags to riches and lived to tell the tale into old age.
Content Warning While there will be no details of any of this content, sensitive or young listeners might want to be aware of brief mentions of the following: sexual violence, execution, non-biological incest

Hello beautiful people!
Just a quick little update to let you know how content is going to be distributed across my different platforms:
Essentially, the podcast will get its own audio released without all the extra taps and background triggers and will solely be a soft-spoken sleep story. If you like visuals and all the extra "ASMR stuff," I invite you to subscribe over at my YouTube channel! Or do both! I would love to see more of you :-)
The story at either place you listen will be about the same person, just delivered in two different ways!
The wildly amazing story of Ching Shih, pirate "queen" of China will be released here at 4pm central/5pm eastern time TODAY! The video version is already up on YouTube if you can't wait. You won't want to miss this high seas adventure story!
Have a great day,
Simone
Tonight's sleep story is about Prima Ballerina Misty Copeland of American Ballet Theater!
ASMR triggers include close whispering throughout, mouth sounds, scratching, tapping, fabric sounds and we spend a nice bit of time playing with pointe shoe sounds and learning the parts of the shoe and the sounds they make.

Happy Presidents' Day to listeners in the States!
Even though we don't technically have a female president yet, we are celebrating Vice President Kamala Harris, who is the first female, and also the first Black American and first South Asian American to hold the office of Vice President.
So just who is Kamala Harris and what was her road to Vice President? In this week's sleep story, we will learn about her upbringing with immigrant parents, her law career and her path to becoming Vice President of the United States--along with her long list of "firsts." Unlike the previous weeks' stories, I omitted extra ASMR triggers in the background and opted for some water and white noise sounds in the background. Let me know what you think! I'm just trying to find nice combinations of sounds :-)

Happy Women and Girls in Science Day!
I have an extra story for you this week about Katherine Johnson, NASA research mathematician. Her calculations allowed astronauts to enter space for the first time, walk the moon for the first time and get home safely when things went wrong. She was a brilliant woman with many "firsts" and we are celebrating her on Women and Girls in Science Day during Black History Month.
This video includes soft-spoken storytelling, occasional close whispers, soft tapping, lid sounds, mic brushing with makeup brushes, and hairbrush bristle clicking.

Welcome back!
Tonight's story takes us back to the mid-1800s in the landscape of the mountains, deserts and valleys of the Great Basin of the United States. Sarah Winnemucca was an indigenous woman of the Northern Paiute Nation who fought for the human rights of her people. She spoke directly to Congress and educated the general public about her tribe and what life was REALLY like on the reservations. She is also considered the first Native American woman to have published a book, which was her autobiography Life among the Piutes: Their Wrongs and Claims.
This story was already prepared prior to this month but we'll be back to celebrating Black women during Black History Month later this week in an extra episode!

I've got a BONUS episode for you today to celebrate AS(Fem)R's first day and, more importantly, the first day of Black History Month here in the United States. Ida B. Wells is a very interesting woman who dedicated her life to equality, justice and to fight the terrorist practice of lynching.
I've included a trigger warning at the beginning of this episode due to the racial violence that will be discussed. While there won't be any details of the crime, mention of a lynching as well as frequent use of the word "lynch" will be a part of our story tonight. Listen at your own discretion.
Enjoy this bonus full-length episode about Ida B. Wells-Barnett! Sweet dreams!
Welcome to our very first episode of AS(Fem)R! This whispered story is all about Harriet Tubman. Other audio ASMR triggers include: soft tapping, fabric sounds, finger flutters and hand sounds, mic brushing, nail taps and clicks and ear to ear whispers.
Lay back, relax and I hope you enjoy this story of an amazing woman!
Hi! My name is Simone Knightley and I'm so glad you stopped by!
AS(Fem)R celebrates amazing women in history--some you may already know and some who should be known. Each week, I will be telling the story of a woman who marched to the beat of their own drum, created new avenues for future women or fought against injustice.
The stories will be told in a sleep story style layered with traditional ASMR triggers such as tapping, crinkles, ear to ear whispers and more. AS(Fem)R is the place for you to hear inspiring stories so you can have empowered dreams.
First episode drops Monday, February 1st, 2021 and you won't want to miss our first featured woman! HINT: she saved around 70 individuals and was known as "the Moses of her people"
See you Monday! Sweet Dreams!
