On this NEW podcast episode of Small Engine Nation, I will be discussing the slow season in your small engine repair business. Don't feel bad if you experience it (even every year) because most, if not all mechanics have a particular slow season in their small engine repair business. Whether it's in the summer or winter time, the outcome is the same. Machines don't come in and you start scrambling on ways to being in income. Just plainly sitting around, organizing your shop isn't going to make you any money. You have to go out there and earn it! I hope you enjoy this Small Engine Nation Podcast Episode. In my personal experience, I have been in both positions. Currently, I run my own small engine repair shop. One thing you cannot control is when the the slow season appears. There are many advantages of running your own small engine repair business but there are also disadvantages, vise versa for being an employee at a small engine repair shop. I hope this small engine repair podcast episode has answered any of your questions. If it did, leave a like and always make sure to be subscribed & notifications on to never miss any upcoming videos. Do you ever wonder from where you should buy your small engine repair parts in your business? Buying parts in your small engine repair business can be confusing but in this podcast episode, I want to make it clear the advantages and disadvantages of buying from 3 key places. Local repair shops, Amazon, and other online retail stores. These are generally the 3 places you will shop for small engine repair parts. Me personally, I tend to do alot of shopping for my parts on Amazon because they offer 2 day delivery. Fast parts delivery is key in a small engine repair business. I also do sometimes shop at local repair shops because I can have instant access to parts when they have them in stock. Where do you buy your small engine repair parts?

In this week's episode of Small Engine Nation Podcast, I will be discussing on where should you buy tools as a small engine mechanic? I get this tool question a lot and I hope this video will help answer it. Should you buy expensive tools as a small engine mechanic or should you buy cheap tools as a small engine mechanic? Buying tools as a small engine mechanic can be tricky especially if you're just starting out in the small engine repair business. I for one believe Harbor Freight Tools is a great place to shop for small engine mechanic tools if your are just starting out. Unfortunately, there is not a store out there that specifically sells small engine mechanic tools, so you will have to do research and more than likely order online for specific tools. What kind of small engine mechanic tools do you have & where do you buy them?

On this episode of Small Engine Nation Podcast, we will be talking about discounts in your small engine repair business. Not long ago, I asked a YouTube Community question if you offer discounts in your small engine business and majority of you said no you don't. Whether you offer discounts or not, we should be able understand each others perspectives. If you were to ask me if I offer small engine repair discounts, I would say yes ONLY if the client asks for one. Again, you aren't right or wrong if you don't offer discounts. You decide your small engine repair prices and small engine repair discounts.

Should you be offering Pickup & Delivery Service In Your Small Engine Repair Business? In this Episode of Small Engine Nation Podcast, we will discuss if you should be offering pickup & delivery service in your small engine repair business. I have heard mixed feelings about this service, as some shops are so buys, they can't seem to find the time to go and pickup machines from potential clients. So what do those potential clients do? They call someone else. PROFIT & CLIENT LOSS! This is the exact reason I ALWAYS highly encourage young entrepreneurs, that start small engine repair businesses, to offer a small engine repair pickup service, as well as a small engine repair delivery service. This will not only increase closing sales, but also build stronger customer relationships. Watch the rest of the video on why I believe you SHOULD offer pickup & delivery services in your small engine repair business.

In today's Episode of Small Engine Nation Podcast, we will discuss bring backs in your small engine repair business. Everybody hates bring backs! Even though they happen vary rarely to good mechanics, they DO happen. Bring backs and call backs can be avoided as long as you inform the customer of all the repairs needing to be done on their machines & make sure to analyse their problem prior to the machine coming back to the shop.

In today's Episode of Small Engine Nation Podcast, we will discuss the top 3 ways to market your small engine repair business in 2020. These 3 things are how my small engine repair business blew up. My top 3 lead drivers are Nextdoor, Craigslist, and Word of Mouth. Implementing these 3 marketing platforms in my business have tremendously increased my lead generation, thus making my phone ring off the hook!! Understanding how my small engine repair business blew up so fast is exactly what I want to share with you today. The simplest and most efficient form of marketing is #3, word of mouth. Having your friends and family hand out your business cards, and inform all of their friends and co-workers about your business will make you known as the go-to small engine mechanic when the time comes for that person to need a small engine repair service. Now do be in mind that doing these 3 things will not instantly blow up your small engine repair business and make your phone ring, but over time they can make your small engine repair business blow.
Nextdoor is a great platform that can drive new leads with a single post. Nextdoor connects all of your neighbors, that live around you, in one big social circle. There, you can post about your business or the "side work" that you do, which in return will definitely make some curious neighbors want to reach you if they need your service.
Craigslist ads... THEY WORK. Trust me. Pay the $5 per post and you are guaranteed a lead or 2 withing a few days. At least that is what I have been averaging.

On this episode of Small Engine Nation Podcast, I explain to you why you should be upselling in your small engine repair business. #1 reason is to make more profit! Now you want to be careful to not PUSH any of your customers to an extra sale or service, you want to be informative and provide them with the benefits of replacing their old parts. Upselling is a skill that can and will be mastered over time in your small engine repair business. Hope you enjoy and learn something about upselling in your small engine repair business. Have a great day!

In this episode of Small Engine Nation Podcast, I will speak with you on why you should start a small engine repair business in 2020 right now! I start by explaining my story of how I started fixing small engines in my parents garage. I proceed by explaining how anyone that has a desire working in this field can start making money in this business. Starting a small engine repair business requires minimal knowledge on how to fix a 2 cycle/4 cycle engine. Generally, you will be starting on repairing lawn mowers and other various 2 cycle machines. Changing oils, air filters, fuel filters, spark plugs, and sharpening blades are VERY easy repairs to master quickly, and can make you profit as long as you know what you're worth & marking up your parts. Think you can or have you already started a small engine repair business? Let us know in the comments below!
