In this episode, we're diving into the non-fluffy, non-traditional way of practicing self-love. Forget about the cliché bubble baths and workouts, because we're going deeper than that. Today, I'm sharing with you the three B's of self-love and self-trust: boundaries, becoming, and being.
Now, boundaries might sound intimidating, especially if you're a people pleaser. But here's the thing: boundaries are not about shutting others out, but about honoring and valuing yourself. They are an act of self-love and self-trust, where you communicate your needs and set expectations for yourself. By setting boundaries, you become the expert and steward of your own energy, life, and dreams.
But that's just the beginning. We'll also explore the power of becoming, of embracing the journey of self-evolution. It's about celebrating every step you take towards becoming the fierce, bold, and fully expressed version of yourself. And finally, we'll talk about the importance of being, of finding stillness and connecting with your inner self. By creating space for stillness, you'll tap into your deepest desires, gain clarity, and ignite your creativity.
So, my friend, get ready to unleash the power within you. It's time to embrace the non-fluffy path of self-love and self-trust. Let's build the best version of ourselves and live a life that truly aligns with our authentic selves. Are you ready?

I'm going to share my personal nursing journey of hitting rock bottom and how I used that experience as a launching pad to create a life filled with light and fulfillment in my nursing career.
I vividly remember my first travel nurse assignment, where I experienced the true depths of burnout. The emotional toll, disconnection, and irritability were overwhelming. Little did I know that these feelings were not only affecting my career satisfaction but also my ability to provide quality care to my patients, nurture my relationships, and take care of my own health. But as Steve Jobs once said, "You can only connect the dots looking backwards." And that's exactly what I did.
In this episode, I'll guide you through the process of embracing your rock bottom and using it as a catalyst for positive change. I'll share how I discovered my true passions and values, and how I made intentional shifts in my career and lifestyle to align with them. You'll learn the power of taking radical self-responsibility, identifying what you don't want, and using that knowledge to pave the way for what you truly desire. So, if you're ready to turn your rock bottom into a launching pad for success, this episode is for you!
01:37: The suffocating feeling of rock bottom + how to use it as your launch pad
04:36: Feeling like being a nurse is transactional and losing purpose
09:15: Taking radical self-responsibility for your feelings and actions

Today we are chatting about stepping OUTSIDE of your comfort zone and the transformation that can come from it. I share my own experience of setting a time goal for the Houston Marathon and pushing myself to run at a faster pace than I ever have before. I discuss how discomfort does not mean incapability and I challenge YOU to lean into discomfort and ask yourself- how you can grow and learn from it. As always, we talk about the importance of intentionally putting yourself in uncomfortable situations to expand your comfort zone and achieve your big dreams.
I challenge YOU to do something this weekend that challenges your current comfort zone and share it with me over on the gram. Remember, discomfort is a sign of growth, and it's okay to be uncomfortable as long as you find a way to keep moving forward.

This episode comes straight from my heart because friend, I truly believe you deserve to live a life you are obsessed with!
Today I'm chatting with you about how important it is to stay curious and stop accepting the status quo. I encourage you to ask yourself what more you could do... How else could you show up and how else could you make an impact? What are the things that set your soul on fire and how can you incorporate more of those things?
There is true power behind taking ownership and calling the shots in order to create a life that you are passionate about. My goal with this episode is to inspire you to stop settling and start creating the life you deserve!
[00:01:45] Life lessons and integration.
[00:05:12] Quit settling, create an obsession.
[00:08:45] Staying wildly curious when settling.
[00:10:02] Crafting your own life story.
[00:13:26] Letting go of toxic relationships.
[00:17:01] Staying wildly curious, asking yourself what else is out there?
You can attract absolutely whatever it is you want in life... Do you believe that?
The key is to equip ourselves with the tools to shift negative thoughts and doubts. Of course, we will encounter bumps, moments of self-doubt, and people who may doubt us along the way. However, it is crucial to change the narrative and energetically become a magnet for what we want in life!
When we vibrate at a level of certainty and confidence, we can attract whatever it is that we desire. Sometimes you might find yourself questioning why we are deserving of the life we imagine. Believe in yourself my friend - you are more capable than you think.
So many people are afraid to ask for what they need. I've certainly been there, questioning whether I am asking for too much or if I was enough for the opportunities I desired. These feelings of scarcity and doubt can often creep in and paralyze us. But we're changing the script. We deserve to be unapologetic in our pursuits!
When we let go of fear and scarcity and surrender to the flow of life, we create space for incredible opportunities and personal growth. This is what I want for you my friend, you deserve it, now go out and make it happen!
00:00:53 Manifest what you want unapologetically.
00:10:28 Embrace challenges for personal growth.
00:14:51 Call your shot with confidence.
Creating consistency and new habits doesn't always require extreme measures. Many people have the mindset of going all in or not showing up at all, but doesn't that feel overwhelming and unsustainable?!
When I work with clients who want to establish new habits we start with understanding why the goal is important to them and I encourage starting with the end in mind. By visualizing the desired feelings or achievements at the end of the day or week, you can set more realistic and achievable goals.
This concept of "lowering the threshold to win" has made a huge difference in how I view my own success. When we lower the threshold we build consistency and momentum with smaller actions. From there we can celebrate small victories and that feeling of accomplishment can be highly motivating and encourage you to continue!
Every win matters my friend, and every moment of showing up for yourself is significant. By starting small and gradually building up your successes, you can establish positive habits that are sustainable and lead to long-term growth.
00:01:23 Lower the threshold to win.
00:05:08 Lower goals to increase success.
00:14:57 Lower the bar to win.
We are talking ALL about the importance of boundaries and how they can be a source of empowerment. From the pressure individuals feel to meet societal expectations and the self-inflicted expectations that often stem from feelings of shame and inadequacy.
We unpack how boundaries are not just about keeping others out, but also about preserving what is important and necessary for YOURSELF. With an emphasis on the need for self-awareness and self-responsibility in setting boundaries while encouraging YOU, the listener to check in with yourself and understand your own needs.
Boundaries with a capital B because YES they are that important!
In a profession like nursing, there is a tendency to prioritize others. Today I'm chatting with Courtney, a nurse working at an endoscopy outpatient surgical unit, all about the importance of self-awareness and understanding your values and priorities when making decisions!
Courtney shares how her platform, Rekindled Nurse, was founded on the idea of empowering nurses to prioritize self-care and self-awareness in their careers. Nurses can often fall into a cycle of autopilot where they clock in, clock out, and repeat the same routine without reflecting on their strengths and weaknesses. She emphasizes the importance of self-awareness and doing the work to discover what those strengths and weaknesses are, both in your personal and professional life.
Prioritizing your own happiness and health is not always easy but I promise you, it's always worth it!
00:00:00 Importance of supporting nurses.
00:05:53 Takeaway: Seek mentorship for burnout.
00:09:45 Prioritize values for nursing success.
00:14:23 Prioritize self-care and values.
00:19:15 Creating support for nurses.
00:25:28 Lean into your strengths.

Are you aligning your goals with your values and passions? Today I'm chatting with Natalie, a functional nutritionist. She shares how setting goals that we don't truly care about can actually damage our self-trust and hinder our ability to listen to our bodies.
When we focus on meaningful and enjoyable pursuits we can boost our confidence and that spills over into other areas of our lives, enabling us to tackle new challenges with resilience and self-assurance.
We also dive into the significance of rest for maintaining a healthy and balanced life. Rest is essential for the body to feel safe and maintain homeostasis. So many of us fall into the societal pressure to constantly hustle and grind and that can make it difficult to prioritize rest, but we need to look at rest as productive and necessary.
Starting something new can be scary so it's important to have self-compassion while you're navigating this discomfort. Natalie reminds us that changing habits, behaviors, thoughts, and beliefs may require discomfort, but that self-compassion can help us navigate this discomfort and start something new with confidence!

Do you feel like you don't have the time to prioritize self-care? Today we have Maria, a Certified Transformational EFT Coach on the podcast to talk about how neglecting self-care can actually lead to a long rebuilding phase after burnout.
She shares the importance of paying attention to body cues, such as hunger cues, and not pushing them away in the pursuit of productivity. Constantly being in a state of productivity can indicate chronic stress and dysregulation of the nervous system, which can lead to physical health issues.
You'll hear her emphasize the need to find ways to sustain stressors and utilize tools, such as emotional regulation, to manage stress. You can start simple with taking a break once a day, and gradually building up to longer breaks like a staycation.
The overall message in this episode is the importance of overcoming the belief that rest and relaxation are laziness, in order to prioritize self-care and prevent burnout!

Today I'm chatting with Mel, a clinical herbalist who started off as a backpacking guide and wilderness therapist in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Mel developed a natural first-aid kit and became passionate about teaching people how to use plants for self-care and care for the planet.

Today, I want to share with you a really powerful and empowering episode that I think will resonate with so many of you.
In this episode, I talk about the importance of letting go of resistance and surrendering to your intuition. I share my own personal journey of learning to trust my intuition and how it has led me to make some big changes in my life.
I know that so many of us struggle with the need for certainty and the fear of the unknown. We hold on so tightly to what we think we know and what we think we want, that we create resistance in our lives. We push and fight against the universe, instead of surrendering and trusting that everything is working out for our highest good.
If you're feeling stuck or exhausted in your pursuit of your dreams, this episode is for you. I share some powerful intuitive shifts that I've had in the last six months that have helped me to let go of resistance and surrender to my intuition.
I truly believe that when we let go of resistance and surrender to our intuition, we open ourselves up to infinite possibilities and opportunities. We allow ourselves to be guided by something greater than ourselves and we trust that everything is happening for a reason.
So, if you're ready to let go of resistance and surrender to your intuition, tune in to this episode of Build to Be You. I promise it will be impactful and empowering.
As always, don't forget to tag me over on IG @michaela_robertson_ and let me know your takeaways!

Join me in todays episode of 'just not feeling it'. Those seasons of life where everything seems to require extra energy and effort. Burnout is a real thing my friend that can affect all aspects of our lives, from our careers to our relationships to our personal obligations. As we go about our day-to-day lives, it is important to be aware of our energy levels and to take steps to replenish our energy when needed.
One of the most important steps we can take to manage energy intentionally and mindfully is to be aware of when we are feeling low motivation, low excitement, and low drive. When we notice these feelings, we can take a step back and ask ourselves what is causing them. We can also take time to assess our energy levels and be honest with ourselves about how much energy we have to give. This self-awareness is key to managing energy intentionally and mindfully.
Once we have identified our energy levels, we can take steps to replenish our energy. This may include setting boundaries with ourselves and others, taking time for self-care, and engaging in activities that bring us joy. It is also important to remember that our energy levels are not infinite, and that we must be intentional and mindful when it comes to how we use our energy.
00:05:12 Take control of your energy.
00:09:26 Listen to your body.
00:10:39 Self awareness will change your life.

A1: My 3 year old woke me up this morning :)

Now let's dive into Cassie's story. She owns her own practice - Resilient Wellness and Physical Therapy and she's been a physical therapist for almost 8 years, working mostly with women.
When Cassie was 15 years old she was in a car accident that left her with daily pain. This led her to physical therapy and sparked her interest in working with patients with a neurological diagnosis. She really started to focus on her thoughts and stressors that played a role in her own pain and that allowed her to break through her chronic pain.
Chronic pain is pain that lasts more than 3 months and impacts your life in various ways - you might start to see yourself pull back from the things you love or have to eliminate everyday tasks. Once healed there can also still be a fear around the pain returning and that means the pain is still in control.
Cassie explains how chronic pain can be related to other bodily responses and we don't always link it to the pain. She wants women to feel empowered that they are in control and can support themselves.
Tracking the pain can be really helpful - especially if you can track it back to what you were doing and identify the emotional state you were in. Breathwork is another great way to regulate the things going on in your body - even just 5 minutes a day can make a huge impact.
Cassie has her patients start by making a list of things that make them feel good - activities, songs, medication, etc. This helps reduce the fear of the pain coming back. When you have 5 minutes try to incorporate something on your list. You can also envision what a healthy person does that feels good - stretching, drinking water, getting fresh air, etc. and this helps you to start taking steps towards being that person.
After having her daughter, Cassie's pain was at its worst and she was driven to incorporate the work she does to help herself heal. She's worked hard on receiving help and not feeling guilty.
She reminds us to share our experiences. The power is within you and it's important to quiet the noise and listen to your body!

Today we have Christine on the podcast all the way from Australia! Christine works with women in business who are stressed, overwhelmed, and overworked and she helps them shift their mindset so that they can truly go after their dreams.
Self-sabotage is something that shows up when we start to step outside our comfort zone. Christine helps unpack why this might be showing up for you and how to recognize it. Our brains naturally build up belief systems to try to protect us from anything that is scary and we have to challenge those thoughts.
It's important that we have compassion for ourselves and when we can be kind to a past version of ourselves we can do that in the present moment as well. We often tie our worth to our achievements, but we still have negative self-talk which doesn't allow us to continue to grow to the next level.
Doing the work is key - you want to find a bridge belief that is in between where you are now and where you want to be. This will generate an action that will force your belief system to the next level and you'll start to see things differently.
Christine talks about how when we start to look for the good we will start to see the good. But if we believe that nothing good ever happens to us, our brains take that as our truth and we don't recognize when good things actually do happen.
Fear is a huge part of the journey but if we can improve our relationship with it we can continue to grow. We have to override it and make it mean we are growing and learning.
Imposter syndrome is similar to fear. If we step into new things with a beginner's mindset we open up the opportunity to learn so much!
Remember, celebrate your wins - stop and acknowledge what you've achieved and the inner quality that made it possible!

When was the last time you can say you truly felt pure, unapologetic joy?!
Today we're chatting about facing fears, taking action, and pursuing joy without letting expectations dampen it. It's so important for us to explore hobbies and activities with a carefree attitude, embrace emotions, and take messy action, with the goal of becoming the best version of ourselves.
[00:01:43] Simple joy and fulfillment.

[00:11:04] Doing something for simple joy.
Carly is a former travel nurse that has transitioned into an Integrated Health Coach. When she first started she found that she didn't align with bedside nursing or night shift but fell in love once she found GI nursing!
A proactive vs. reactive approach was important to Carly so she started learning more about nutrition and found a school where she could become certified as a health coach. Once that journey started it led her to start her own business helping women be more proactive with their own health.
Carly takes us back to when she felt totally unaligned and how that impacted her - one with the way she was helping patients and the other with how she wasn't able to take care of herself. If she could give any advice to someone in that season she would say to take care of yourself first and really look at your life as a whole.
Before fully committing to her role as a GI nurse Carly shadowed the position. This is a great way to get an inside look at what the position fully entails so you can ask yourself if the skills that the role requires truly bring you joy and align with the work you want to do.
Travel nursing was something that Carly was nervous about but found that it was such a great step in her career. Although she didn't have as much experience, that didn't hold her back and actually allowed her to learn more.
Enrolling to become a certified health coach really came from Carly's desire to heal herself and provide patient education. Once in the program, she realized she could make this her career.
Looking back, Carly would tell herself that the season of questioning if she was in the right place was so temporary. It's hard to see it in the moment but reflecting back, those hard shifts or hard times are such a small part of the overall picture.
Making the decision to leave travel nursing was not easy for her, but Carly wanted to really focus her time on her health coaching business. It took off and she hasn't looked back!
Carly shares about how she works with her patients now and how each person is unique. She wants you to feel empowered with your health and not stuck. It's important to get to the route cause of what's going on and then do the work to heal. Her favorite part is getting the opportunity to see the transformation that people make.

I am so excited to have Julia on the podcast today! Julia has 12 years of experience in career development. After going through several of her own life changes she shifted her career path and started her own business as a career coach, she has a podcast and is overall a wealth of knowledge for ambitious professionals who are looking for a change... but aren't sure where to go.
It was a quarter-life crisis that led Julia to the work she is doing today. After spending time pursuing graphic design (because that was aligned with her degree) she realized it wasn't for her. She started to dive into other options and while on that path found that she was actually working against her natural strengths and her mindset about herself was not in a good place.
Once she worked past those limiting beliefs she found that becoming a career coach was where she was meant to be! Julia talks about her decision to go back to grad school but I love how she explains that more education isn't always the answer for everyone.
Julia shares how she's seen many people pursue an MBA or business degree but they aren't clear on what the degree will do for them. The first step should be the exploration of self - figuring out who you are as a person, who you are in that career, and where you think you want to go. Does pursuing that degree help you reach where you'd like to go?
In your 20's you are in your prime space for exploration and determining what you love. However, we often end up doing what we think we are supposed to do rather than figuring out what we thrive in. Career transition doesn't always mean completely changing industries, sometimes you just need to think outside the box.
She also acknowledges that sometimes we have the skillset but we don't love doing it. Those are the things that we need to recognize and shift as we are in the exploration phase. We are not stuck just because we are good at something.
Forging our own path can be difficult, especially when others are weighing in on our decisions. It's important to fight for what we want and understand that this is our life to live. Often times those unsupportive people are projecting their own insecurities onto you and you have to recognize that. Really pay attention to who is saying it and why.
Similarly, we can come up against this so-called timeline of how our life is supposed to play out. Julia shares her own timeline and how it went against "the norm."
When we talk about ambition, Julia says the women she works with often don't recognize the ambition within themselves. There is power in surrounding yourself with other ambitious people - make sure you have some of those people in your corner.
Ths episode was so powerful and I hope it helped you gain some clarity to take that next step to pursue what truly lights you up!

My challenge for you today is to reframe your perspective on the word "balance."
Always striving for balance is exhausting and quite frankly, it's hard! I'd rather look at my days and months and be proud of how I'm managing my time and energy instead of always trying to find balance.
I'm going to share some things that have come up in conversations I've had recently. Ultimately it's important to recognize that there will be seasons where you slow down and seasons where you put the pedal to the floor and go full force. Each of these seasons serves a purpose.
Don't let your imagination be bigger than your calendar - aka, stop saying yes to EVERYTHING. Use your calendar and plug things into your week so you can see where there is actual space to just be. The goal isn't to be balanced, but rather to see where your time is being spent. If I asked you right now "do you know where your time is going?" could you say yes?
Certain seasons will require different energy. You weren't meant to operate at the same energy level all the time. The key to this is being self-aware.
Is it actually balance you're trying to achieve or are you trying to achieve a life that feels aligned? My hope for you is that you are working towards feeling aligned and this means making sure that you leave time for the most important person in your life... YOU!
I hope this
Today we are chatting with Sadie from This Curious Life Coaching! She specializes in working with women to help them get back to what they want more of in life, without burning out.
So often people say they want to achieve "balance" but is that even possible? Sadie talks about how there will be different seasons of life and rather than searching for balance, we should seek harmony.
Harmony is tuning into what feels right for you and what you want. There are practical things that we need to do as adults, but the key is to weave in the various types of play into our life.
Types of Play:
I challenge you to really think about how you can incorporate these into your life, even for just a few minutes a day. Sadie reminds us that the inner work isn't easy but we are so worth it!
Notice what comes up when we are operating on auto pilot and get curious about where it it's coming from. We tend to lean into who others say we are and forget who WE know we are. Everyone processes things differently so finding what works for you is important when recognizing your individual auto pilot.
If you're wanting to work on this you should really look at where you're currently spending your time. There might be pockets where you can be really intentional and reclaim your time. And remember to be compassionate towards yourself as you are working through this.
If you are ready to grow and evolve, you need to be prepared for the work it's going to take. Which fight do you want to put your energy into? You need to be willing to create the space and allow space for receiving.
And as we embark on this, Sadie reminds us to always smoother ourselves in self compassion!

I used to be the girl that was terrified to go into the gym... but over the last couple of years I've transitioned my mindset around this and I thought I'd share what's worked for me!
Often times we think confidence comes from arriving at a certain goal - body composition, weight on the scale, etc. But chasing these things means we lose sight of who we are at our core.
Six years ago things looked a lot different and I was anything but confident. Knowing that timeline is important because it shows you that this isn't something that happens overnight, and that's ok.
If you are the woman looking to build your confidence in the gym, my biggest piece of advice is to have a routine! This allows you to be fully present and focused on YOU and not everyone else.
Remember, everyone that is in the gym started from the beginning and to be totally honest... they aren't worried about you. Drop your ego at the door and focus on your goals.
You might have to try a few gyms before you find the right one for you, but ultimately it should be welcoming and you should feel like you can take up space there.
Confidence is a you problem, not a them problem - it's going to take a lot of self-compassion and work, but it's so worth it. Really think about the value that movement and fitness can bring to your life. When you start to look at it that way you start to see the joy it can bring to your life.
Take up space my friend, own your space because you belong there and deserve to be there!
And if this episode resonated with you I'd love to know - DM me or tag me when you're listening.

Today my business partner Erin and I are recapping our very first Strides For Strength (SFS) retreat! In case you are new here, I am a part-time Run Coach and Erin and I founded SFS back in November 2021. This retreat had been on our vision board since the beginning and it surely exceeded all our expectations!
From the very moment we arrived, everything was perfect and we saw the vision we had had for so long actually coming to life.
Community is so important within running and the backbone of Strides For Strength so planning this was something we knew we wanted! We really broke the planning down into bite-size pieces and definitely learned a lot along the way.
We hosted the retreat in Florida and when we both arrived we went on a run (obviously) and then to a little dive bar to eat, where we purchased our first meal on our business credit card... that moment was a full circle moment for sure! During the retreat we also received our very first paycheck - up until now we've invested everything we've made back into the business in order to make it what it is.
The next morning we both had long runs and when our alarms went off, it was a struggle... But we made it happen. After that, we decided to film some content, which was absolutely hilarious and so much fun. Then we got the house ready for everyone and headed to CostCo for all the food!
The airbnb we stayed at was AMAZING - it had literally everything we needed and so much more. We were so excited to welcome everyone and our hearts were so full when they arrived.
The morning after everyone arrived we had a 3 mile shake out run and then after breakfast we had someone come to lead us in yoga and breath work (which was amazing! Catching a theme? Amazing... lol).
Our dinner before race day we catered Olive Garden and before bed we laid out everyone's race day stuff and it was so much fun to watch everyone get so excited!
Race day morning we got up before the group and started getting breakfast ready and set the vibe for the day before heading to the start line. Lots of pump-up jams!
One of our favorite things was seeing the group truly come together and support each other! Of course, the two of us were an absolute vibe and we totally brought the energy. Getting to support our athletes was everything.
Just ask Erin - she literally busted her hand trying to make sure she didn't miss one of her athletes crossing the finish line!
That final morning we sent everyone off and took a moment to hold onto the feeling - this is what we worked so hard for and we will never forget it!
If you have FOMO and want to be part of our next Strides For Strength retreat or just want to chat about all things running, slide into our DMs or connect with us below!

I am here to hype you up friend!
In case you're new here, I am a part-time Run Coach and that business truly lights me up. We are coming off of our very first athlete retreat which is what helped inspire this week's podcast episode.
Right now life feels really aligned for me, but it hasn't always been that way, and if you are in a season that feels uncomfortable I challenge you to be present and lean into this episode. Know that this way of life is for the woman that is willing to go through the ebbs and flows and continue chasing her dreams.
Our big dreams come with a lot of inner work and a next-level version of ourselves, but we first have to allow ourselves to dream the BIG dream! What do you want to accomplish? Sit with that dream and really absorb it!
Leading up to the retreat we just had there was so much work and specificity that went into it. We allowed ourselves to feel and visualize exactly what we wanted it to be like. In the end, it exceeded all our expectations!
I encourage you to find your tribe of people that lift you up and support your dreams, and also help push you to the next level. Not everyone will understand, but it's not your job to make them understand. It's your job to show up and do the hard things to get to your next level!
I want to ask you, when is the last time you've looked around and taken the time to recognize all that you've already accomplished? You are on your way to your next big dream my friend, but don't forget to celebrate how far you've already come.

Song: "Day Dream" by Lily Meola
Today we have Jessie on the podcast and before we dive in, let's hear her response to a couple rapid-fire questions:
Q1. What was the first thing you did this morning?
A1. Besides getting up to pee... haha. I tongue scrape.
Q2. What is your go-to Karaoke anthem?
A2. Shania Twain - I grew up on her!
Q3. If you could eat one food every day, what would it be?
A2. Pizza!
Now, let's dive into the episode! Jessie is a holistic fitness coach and certified personal trainer. She helps entrepreneurial women prioritize their health by working with their bodies instead of against them. She got into this work through her own journey in this space.
Jessie describes holistic health as widening the lens and creating a larger perspective. It's important to not just look at exercise and nutrition - these things are so customized to each individual. To start she shares that mindset is the key. If you want to change habits, you have to accept that change is uncomfortable.
Next, blood sugar regulation is so important. Consistent glucose spikes can lead to so many unwanted things within our bodies.
Some of the red flags that might come up when we're heading down a path that doesn't serve us physically, emotionally, etc. might be if you aren't being validated in how you are feeling. Just because we try to normalize things doesn't mean it's supposed to happen. When we become aware of something we can make a change.
We need to remember that we permanently live in our bodies and we have to advocate for ourselves - it's important to be heard and understood even by someone in a professional field.
The difference between men and women is something we cover because so often we lump them together. The male hormonal cycle is 24 hours long, but for women, we have a 28-day cycle. Jessie goes into each phase of our cycle and how each of them works and what happens within our body during each phase.
One of the key takeaways is that we need to honor our body in each cycle and that might mean slowing down and allowing ourselves to rest. While other times we might feel more creative and social. Going to the gym and doing the same workout every day isn't necessarily what is best.
There are ways to track your phases, besides just your menstrual phase aka when we bleed. Jessie describes what we can physically look for in order to help us track and stay in tune with our bodies. She recommends using In the Flo app to track. Our bodies can tell us so much when we lean in.
A lot of women think the only way to avoid pregnancy or heal symptoms they are experiencing is with birth control but Jessies explains the other options we can take that empower us to be in control should you decide birth control is not for you.
Jessie shares how important nutrition is to supporting our hormone health and how making changes there can actually help us heal from the inside.
This episode touched on so much and we will definitely have Jessie back on future episodes! You can connect with her using the links below.

Today we have Carolina on the podcast and she's sharing all about how she uses Human Design to help people find alignment in their lives and connect with their purpose.
Carolina describes how through Human Design she was able to reconnect with herself and how it helped her understand the ones she loves. This led her down the path to make this her work and passion.
So what is Human Design? Carolina describes it as, the way your energy moves within you and how it's projected out of you. It combines everything into one holistic system which is useful when getting to know your strengths, how you communicate, your challenges, etc.
You can use the link at the bottom of the show notes to help you determine the different chakras in your body and how those are connected and which are defined or undefined. This information is important when it comes to our relationships with others and our path in life.
There are several elements of Human Design but the 5 energy types is a great place to start:
Generators - Meant to work on the things that light them up. They generate energy to sustain the rest of the world. Their gift is focusing on what they love.
Manifesting Generators - Similar to the Generator but they have the ability to manifest. They have very quick energy and tend to jump from one thing to the other. Usually they are multipassionate and are able to get what they need from something and move on quicker than most.
Projectors - People that are insightful. They can analyze things quickly and create systems. They tend to be full of advice but sometimes struggle with sharing before the person is ready to receive that advice. As long as they recognize their own gifts, others will see their gifts as well.
Manifestor - People that are meant to think outside the box and are innovative. They tend to be bold and direct and they attract the Generators they need to complete their vision.
Reflectors - They are meant to reflect back our experiences. They gather experience and turn it into wisdom and their energy is always changing and flowing depending on who they are with.
This work is very empowering and helps you honor who you are! Your purpose and mission are all built within you and when you tap into them you feel aligned.
To get started, Carolina recommends connecting with a reader to help you understand your chart and guide you. Start small and integrate as you go. This is a life journey and not something meant to be figured out overnight.

I want you to use today's episode as your permission slip to change your mind and pivot!
Most of us (OK, all of us) can probably think of a time when we wanted to achieve something, but how many roadblocks got in the way? A lot of times we confuse failure and redirection as the same thing, when in reality they are vastly different.
What you do when you hit the roadblock determines if you go the route of failure or redirection.
When I started out in new grad life I moved 1,000 miles away from home and 2 weeks later the pandemic hit... People ask how it was being a nurse during the pandemic and honestly I don't know anything different. But I made the decision early on in my nursing career that I was meant for more and I was determined to make a bigger impact - even if I didn't know what that looked like at the time.
Fastforward to September 2021 and this podcast, Built To Be You was born! I realized that what I was previously doing with other side businesses wasn't aligned anymore... so I pivoted. And I have a feeling you can relate - when was a time in your life when you felt unaligned or maybe you hit your rock bottom?
There was some time where I totally thought I was going to leave bedside nursing, but then I shifted those thoughts and found things to add that brought me joy! I call these things "soft skills" - the things you like doing, aren't super technical, but are transferable.
When you take time to pause and reflect you can decide what things you want to take with you and what you want to leave behind.
Give yourself the permission slip to bless and release the pressure that society, coworkers, friends, etc. put on you. Friend, be YOU! Do what lights you up and know that what she is doing might not be what you are doing, and that is OK!
I hope that my story allows you to realize you are able to fully create your own story.

I'm beyond excited to have Chelsey on the show today! She is a licensed mental health therapist, specializing in helping women in their 20's, and the host of "Your Almost Therapist" podcast!
Let's start with 3 ice breaker questions:
Q1: What is your go-to Karaoke anthem?
A: Don't Stop Believin'
Q2: What is something you purchased recently that you are loving?
A: Lavender oil that I've put in roller tubes!
Q3: Best piece of advice you've gotten?
A: Life will keep giving your the same lessons until you learn what you need to know.
Now let's dive into the conversation of living through, what can feel like the s*** show of being in our 20's! Chelsey reminds us that being in our 20's might just be one of the hardest decades we go through and where we learn so many tough lessons.
She experienced this in her sophomore year of college when she started dealing with mental health and depression. The shame that surrounded it was heavy and she carried it alone for a long time, as so many of us do.
Shame is something that grows in silence and often we equate it to "I am not enough" and that is difficult to move through. Reminder, you are not alone and it's hard but important to open up the conversation around it.
Chelsey shares her own experience with shame and how her depression led to her seeking help from a friend and ultimately being hospitalized. She describes this as her rock bottom and her turning point when she realized she needed support and help.
Rock bottom will look different for everyone and the support needed will be unique to each individual. Chelsey uses her own experiences to now support other women walking through this.
Self-talk and our thoughts play a huge role in our emotions and feelings toward ourselves and that directly impacts our actions. Awareness around our triggers for negative self-talk and not beating ourselves up is key.
We also chat about how our feelings are so powerful, however, they are neither good nor bad. They are pleasant or unpleasant. Understanding why we are having certain feelings is important and we need space to process them and give ourselves time to just feel and be.
Chelsey shares about that moment in her life that changed everything - while going through the hardest time of her life she decided that when she came out on the other side she was determined to help other women going through similar things and she is truly impacting so many women!

Today's episode is a saucy, spicy mix of tough love and a pep talk, because as you know, I'm here to keep things transparent.
Let's dive into pre-decision - how many times have you pre-decided that something is going to be hard or you won't actually achieve the goal? That pre-decision is actually a form of self-sabotage.
Not to say that it's easy to make that mindset shift, but it's important to recognize it and actively work at quieting the chatter in our brains. Let's stop talking ourselves out of going after something we want because we "think" it's going to be too hard!
When you discount yourself before you start, you rob yourself of embracing the suck. Will it be hard? Yes. But staying the exact same and not moving forward is equally (if not more) hard.
Pre-decision can be beneficial when we accept that something will be hard but we don't let that stop us. Instead, we let it fuel us!
Take marathon running as an example - I had to change my mindset from "if it gets hard" to "when it gets hard". I knew mile 18 would be hard so I prepared my mindset and predecided how I would work through it.
You can pre-decide to have good feelings and intentions, even when life feels busy and overwhelming. Remember, all of these things are things you once wished for and now you are living them out. Can you pre-decide today to reframe your feelings from overwhelm to gratitude? If so, you'll really start to see things shift and grow.
And remember, your imagination is likely much bigger than your calendar. You get 24 hours in the day - if you pre-decide and plan ahead that 24 hours is plenty of time to accomplish the things you want to do. Set yourself up for success my friend - I believe in you!

Claire starts this episode by describing how, on paper, her life looked great, but internally she wasn't happy - something I know so many of us can relate to.
It can take a while to realize that all the changes we make might not make us happy if we don't get to the route of things. This led Claire to the work she does now - a personal trainer and a certified life coach working with people just like her. She also has a program working with people that want to drink less alcohol.
When she left corporate to be a trainer she started noticing that her clients were getting great physical results but still struggling mentally, and that was where she could support them best. Her own personal development has helped her navigate her path to where she is now.
Life coaching is where Claire found her true happiness and she realized that she controls her thoughts and feelings. Deciding to eliminate drinking, while scary, was a decision she made that also helped contribute to her happiness. She talks about how you can make that decision for yourself if it feels aligned and gives tips for how to go about it - eliminating the perceived (and occasionally real) peer pressure you encounter.
Claire shares that one of the biggest shifts that came from giving up drinking was the confidence she gained - such a beautiful realization that you don't need to shape shift to fit the environment you are in. When you make the decision to give up something that isn't serving you, you open the door to new things that do!
You are in the driver's seat of your own life my friend, and YOU get to decide where you are going!

I've been really rooted in such a place of gratitude and I want to remind you how thankful I am for you showing up and taking time out of your day to listen in to this podcast!
As an ambitious woman in her 20's, I see you - dreaming big dreams while simultaneously struggling to take up space and battling self-doubt. You are not alone my friend.
Today we're chatting about the phrase "you're living your best life." Because really, what does that even mean? Within myself, it's a sense and a state of being rather than achieving. If you're new here, I recently moved to CO and I'm in a really high season of spending my free time in the mountains, snowboarding, and exploring.
Someone recently commented on an IG picture I posted showing one of my adventures and they said "Michaela, you're living your best life!" I took a pause to question that though - is this me living my best life or am I simply doing the things that light my soul on fire?!
I've recently started journaling using the Growth Day app (linked below) and one of the founders asked "what are the 3 happiest times or memories of your life and what were you really feeling at that moment?" Not sure about you but I had a hard time coming up with only 3!
So when you think about living your best life, or the 3 happiest times of your life, can you really put some context to it and actually define what happiness means to you? It's possible to create this in our everyday lives, but it takes some work on our part.
You deserve this my friend!

How crazy is it that Maria and I connected because we were roommates on a yacht when I traveled to Egypt over the summer!?
Maria is a cardiac nurse and after dabbling in online health and fitness coaching, she started her wellness and travel blog! She loves helping women discover how to take care of themselves - in a loving way.
But before we dive into the show... a quick lightening round of Q&A:
1. Does your car have a name?
Maria: I have a navy blue 2014 Chevy Cruze that I named "Kenny" after Kenny Chesney!
What is the best kitchen gadget you own?
Maria: I love making new recipes and I recently bought a grater and it's been amazing!
When you die, what do you want to be remembered for?
Maria: I want to be remembered as someone that helps others discover beauty in themselves and beauty in the world.
OK, now let's dive in!
One of the major topics we covered was self-love and what that actually means. Maria couldn't have described it better,... "Having a balance between self-compassion and sell discipline on your journey."
A big part of that is finding what you love and diving deep into WHY you love it - are you doing a certain workout because you want external validation or because you love the way it makes you feel? Maria recommends starting by asking yourself what will feel good for your body and trying new things as you go.
It's that balance between masculine and feminine energy and knowing how to show up in each in a healthy way. Reevaluating your goals and determining what actually keeps you going will help.
As a nurse, it can be difficult to create a sustainable routine but Maria recommends starting small and figuring out what works best for you while being open to shifting when needed. The key is to be intentional with what you are doing.
Self-love and putting yourself first is not selfish and it actually helps you show up better for others as well, but it might take some effort on your part.
Remember, be more intentional with the thoughts you think about yourself and you'll start to see and feel more aligned in all areas of your life!

My friend, how are you watering the seeds you've planted - aka your goals, your habits, and your actions? Of course, in order to water these seeds, you have to first plant them.
I remember when I met my now business partner Erin and she planted the seed about becoming her partner as a run coach... something I had never considered but once that seed was planted I was hooked and I started to get curious.
But just like a plant, without water, the right environment, etc. it won't grow. Without ACTION the seeds you're planting won't come to life. Had I not taken messy action, I'd probably not be sitting here as Erin's business partner with a thriving run coach business.
Sometimes we have the best intentions to plant and water ALL our seeds, but a lack of clarity and direction stops us in our tracks - not everything can be a priority at the same time. It's crucial to figure out what is important right now, in this moment.
Time to get decisive my friend. Let's stop stretching ourselves too thin where we end up not taking any action. Reminder - every 'yes' you say to one thing is a 'no' to something else.
You might have a lot of unwatered seeds in your life right now, and that's OK! Take a step back and pick a few that are most important and start watering them and supporting them in a way that will help them flourish. You got this - go take messy action.
I'd love it if you would take a minute to rate and review the podcast on Apple Podcast, and as always, thanks for being here on this journey with me!
So excited to have Dr. Morgan back on the podcast this week to talk all about her new book, LOVE MAGNET: Get OFF the dating rollercoaster and attract the love you DESERVE!
Dr. Morgan is a clinical psychologist and an attachment theory expert. She helps women show up securely attached and have great relationships, no matter your past! By sharing her own real-life examples she helps you feel less alone and validated in your feelings.
We dive into the importance of doing the internal work as a way to empower ourselves and lean into belief work to keep us from sabotaging our relationships. Sometimes this looks like slowing down and stepping away from the dating world altogether. It might be time to, as Dr. Morgan says, "unload your filing cabinet to see what is helping you and what's not."
The second half of her book she talks about the four attachment styles and explains what each of them are. Secure attachment being the goal because it allows us to value ourselves and our partners while navigating conflict in a healthy way.
And once you're ready to get back into the dating world, showing up with zero expectations WHILE maintaining your standards can drastically change things.
All of this work doesn't happen overnight, but arming yourself with tools like Dr. Morgan's book is the perfect first step!

Who is the women that you desire to show up VS. who is the women you are showing up as?
This episode is for you, the women who feels herself getting smaller when she walks in to a room
Who starts to speak whats on her mind and then follows it up with ‘I am sorry that’s just how I feel’
For the women who find herself changing her goals/values/feelings in order to make others feel more comfortable
Right now-- you start doing things differently. Take up space. Build your confidence from the inside, out. Own who you are and quit apologizing for being HER.

I have the honor of chatting with Jenna who takes a slightly non-traditional but absolutely EMPOWERING approach to health & fitness compared to what you might see floating around social media with the new year when it comes to fad diets and quick fixes.
Jenna isn't here to give you the cookie cutter meal plan or exercise regimen but she is here to push you to go DEEPER, to understand how to shift in to a state of making empowered decisions, to learn how to sustain habits for life not just as a quick fix or for one season while giving you ways to automate healthy habits. & she gives you the really powerful reminder to learn how to TRUST yourself and have that self compassion for who you are and where you are going.
We know you will love this weeks conversations just as much as we did recording it. Make sure to tag us over on IG @michaela_robertson and @jennaraealtman!

What is the first FEELING that comes to mind when you think of the word 'support'? In todays episode I want to help you understand what support looks and feels like for YOU and how you can gain awareness to ASK for & move the resources you need in order to create the support & help you need to be the best version of you.
Often times we think about people as support systems but there are other areas to look at too, like your ENVIRONMENT, ROUTINES, HABITS and more which we cover in todays episode.
With a HUGE recent change in my life moving from NC to CO I've had to have a lot of honest conversations with myself and the people around me what SUPPORT means to me so as always, I pull back the currents on my struggles in hopes to help you create more STRENGTHS in your life.

And it would mean the WORLD to me if you could leave a rating and review, we have big goals in 2023 for this Built to Be You community and you taking the 3 seconds to do just that, helps us spread our impact greater and deeper than ever before!
I don’t want this to be another podcast that comes at you telling you the 3 step process to setting your goals and achieving them, how to have the best 2023 ever, how to make the most of the final days of 2022 and that now is the best time to start-- because honestly in this season?
I'm tired. Maybe you are too. That doesn't serve me and it might not for you either. Sure there is a different type of energy floating around this time of year so tap in to it. Just don't get too caught up in what everybody else is doing, the vision board parties they're having, the goals they're setting and figure out what YOU need.
This might be ‘another end of the year podcast’ but with a twist, a new perspective and a different opportunity for YOU.
Thank you for such an incredible year with the Built to Be You community in 2022, I can't wait to see all of our growth in 2023!

In todays episode we're talking about giving yourself permission to let go of things that have reached their expiration date and are no longer serving you AND the other side of quitting.
You ever stay in something and all along.. in your heart, you felt this visceral feeling of said thing no longer serving you. This episode is for the women who knows in her heart she wants something different. She is holding on this anger or resentment, lack of engagement or excitement because it's time to LET GO.
What are you holding on to for dear life right now that has reached its expiration date? And what about the OTHER side of quitting? Not the one where ‘quitters never win mentality’ but the one where quitters move in to MORE alignment and clarity.
The person who is the common denominator through every season? YOU.
and the BIG question today is-- can you count on YOU?
In this episode we face the truth around self accountability and what that even means. I'm pushing you to get uncomfortable and HOENST by 'pushing play' on your silent movie to see if your actions really align with the words you say or the dreams you dream. & we talk about HOW to take the power away from patterns or habits you currently might have programmed in to your life through AWARENESS.
It might not seem like that big of a deal but you can't always count on others to pick you up or put back together the pieces. You have to learn to start counting on YOU and being the most consistent person in your life.

How many times have you asked others to validate your decisions?
Have you asked them "do you think this is right?"
When were you full body HECK YES invested and ready to take action on something and then somebody killed the vibe with "you're going to do what..?"
In todays episode I want to explore assessing your readiness for change but also help you realize that change is a YOU job, not a WE job. It doesn't matter what anybody else wants at the end of the day when in YOUR heart and deep down in your belly, you know.

I hope this episode finds your ears at the exact moment that you need it this holiday season.
Maybe you also love the concept of holidays. Quality time. Food. Travel. Christmas lights galore. Holiday cheer. And also maybe holidays sometimes create uncertainty, dread, anxiety or some other mix of feelings.
We get this idea that ‘holiday happiness and cheer’ is a requirement to ‘a successful holiday season’ but I challenge you to re frame that. Feeling happy isn’t the end all be all but being able to FEEL every emotion that comes up and spending time to sit with and reflect, is.
This is the first holiday season I’ve truly been able to sit with that ‘brokenness’ feeling that holidays bring up for me and I want to use today's episode to help NORMALIZE the feelings holidays might bring up for you. From expectation management to setting boundaries to prioritizing routines. This holiday season is YOURS, for YOU and you get to decide how that time and energy is spent.
As always, don't forget to come connect with me on IG @michaela_robertson_ :)
Do you ever find yourself saying "I can't eat that" or "I just wish I had more self control around the holiday parties?"
Todays guest, Andie, shares with us all about intuitive eating, how it works, who it's for, healing your relationship with food, focusing on 'nutrition by addition', navigating the holiday parties while learning to enjoy them, GUILT FREE and so much more!!
Andie teaches us how to create SUSTAINABLE change. No fad diets. No quick fixes. Which you know we are all about here in the Built to Be You community, building change that LASTS and makes you FEEL GOOD.
I hope after todays episode you give yourself the permission slip you deserve to eat the chocolate AND enjoy it while you eat it! As with anything, creating new change can be uncomfortable so it's important to loop in your support system HOW and WHY this change matters to you!

If you tune in to last weeks episode.. you know this last weekend I completed the TCS NYC Marathon. I’m familiar with the distance. I know the discomfort that’s coming, yet every single race I am pushed to a next level version of myself.
People always say ‘the person who toes the start line isn’t the same person who crosses the finish line’ and even if you aren’t a runner I know this episode is going to be relatable for YOU. Because the ‘race’ that we try to incorporate in to our day to day human lives has so many parallels.
You are in a hurry to get ‘there’
When things get uncomfortable you pull back
When life feels hard you put your struggles on a pedestal saying "I'm just so unlucky" or "there is no way anybody else feels this way"
This episode is equal parts an ‘I love you AND’ type of episode but also me pulling back the curtains on some of my biggest growth moments that happened in the TCS NYC Marathon!

Ever feel like no matter how hard you work you never get 'there'? That finish line? That end destination? SAME GIRL. I have been a season where I'm making it impossible for myself to 'win'.
If you have finish lines in your life that you keep moving, if you keep feeling yourself ‘falling short’ or disappointed-- this episode is for YOU.
How can you make a PLAN to make it happen? How can you loop other people in to hold you accountable to get there? How can you quit being so HARD on yourself and realize that success doesn’t have to be defined as the route that was the most complicated, most invested time/energy or highest achievement possible?

Kristina shares with us today how her later in life diagnosis of ADHD actually became her SUPERPOWER. She realized early in life she was 'different than others' she did things in law school that was against 'the law school way' made 0 sense to others. She went through life thinking she was wrong or different but after continuously advocating herself, at the age of 31 she was diagnosed with ADHD and as she says it is 'her superpower now'. She helps us better understand what it is like living ADHD, separating your identity from a diagnosis and seeing your differences as opportunities to GROW in to your true, authentic self.
Wether you are somebody who has been diagnosed with ADHD or not, if you can't shake this feeling of "what is wrong with me?" I believe you will walk away from this episode feeling EMPOWERED to OWN who YOU are.

How does self sabotage show up in your routines? That is what we are chatting about today!!
Routines are used to support your energy, dreams, values, wishes, wants, goals, etc.
And when you have routines that feel GOOD and support you in the season you are in— it gives you this kind of superpower that makes you double take like WOWIE I am rolling through this day/week!
We all search for that ‘perfect routine’ ya know that one that makes an IG reel look aesthetic? That is cookie cutter the same, every single day. The one that just plops our dreams right in to our laps. The one that makes us ~have our lives together~ .
And here’s the thing about routines.. they are simply another TOOL in your toolbox
Are they important? Absolutely
Are they the end of your existence if you don’t have them? Probably not
Routines to me help me stay rooted in the foundational habits that help me as a coach, nurse, leader, friend, entrepreneur. I know the power of routines but I also know that they are simply tools. That when they don’t happen that doesn’t mean that I am a failure or I am bad— it just means maybe I needed supported in a different way that day.
Today episode is ALL about eliminating that self sabotage from your routines and creating ones that ACTUALLY serve you!

Think about the person in your work day who is always negative, complains the minute they clock in, simply just goes through the motion of med pass or other tasks and just counts down the minutes until the shift is over.. somebody come to mind? Or maybe are you like "uh oh thats ME?"
I think its ironic how we let other PRE-DECIDE how our day is going to go based off the words and energy they use
And IF this person is you..
I’m here to call you out AND bring awareness to how this affects not only your work/life satisfaction but also the people around you because PROJECTION is a really thing
Energy is contagious, wether it is positive or negative
And honestly working a physically AND mentally draining environment can eventually lead to a toxic environment and lets be real.. it’s not really enjoyable for anybody there, including yourself.

How many times have you looked your upcoming week schedule and pre-decided ‘omg I am going to be so overwhelmed that day”.. or when you are going through a 12 hour shift and somebody asks what they can do to help and you just say ‘idk I am just so overwhelmed’.
You've pre programmed yourself in to this 'overwhelm feeling' without actually looking at what is happening around you!
Was there a previous version of you that said “I can’t wait.." Or a dreamer in you that said “what if..” and now it’s HAPPENING. You are LIVING that dream.
Which is why we are REFRAMING overwhelm in todays episode!
Have you created the unshakeable belief in your abilities, the value you bring to the world and your unique talents? If not, YET, this episode is for you!
Sometimes you might find yourself in situations where somebody else tries to make you question your own worth. But I am here to remind you that one persons opinion/perception of you doesn’t DEFINE you. When you start to doubt your abilities either personally or professionally I want you to do the 3 things we talk about in todays episode!
I wanted to leave you with a quote I read in my book this morning.. "Yesterday I was clever so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise so I am changing myself" -Rumi. YOU are the most important work that you will ever do.
You probably are here on this episode because there has been a time or maybe you are navigating it in real time.. a moment where you wanted to give up
Where life felt really heavy or hard
You doubted your abilities
You told yourself it would probably never work out anyways
I was going back and reading my journal from my trip to Egypt because there I was learning to kite surf and it was one of the most physically and mentally demanding sports I have ever tried.
My heart racing. Heaviness in my chest. Overwhelm. Fear of being whisked out in the to the deep blue seas. Bumps and bruises covering most parts of my body. I was a beginner for the first time in a long time, but I never gave up.
SO my question for you.. what would happen if YOU didn’t give up? What kind of person could you become? What lessons would you learn? What could you accomplish?
Connect with me on IG @michaela_robertson_
How many times have you told yourself jokingly “that’s it I am SO TIRED, exhausted, burnout, I just need to crawl in a hole and sleep for at least 6 weeks”
Or you get off a rough stretch of shifts, rightfully exhausted, you go to bed the minute you walk in the door, you sleep for 12+ hours, then you lay in bed for the whole day and then it’s time for your next shift and you still feel worn out, run down, exhausted and you think to yourself wait… I STILL feel so tired even after sleeping for that long will I ever have energy again?
insert dramatic sigh for both of those because today we are uncovering the difference between RESTING and RECHARGING and I have a feeling you might be missing out on the recharge part ;)
Let me know how you are going to redefine rest and recharge in your day by tagging me over on IG @michaela_robertson with your takeaways from this episode!
Since I have been rumbling back and forth with the feelings and emotions that come up around the question of ‘am I really qualified for this so I want to share this with you..
Certifications, accolades and recognition don’t always directly correlate to ‘how qualified you really are’ sure they build your knowledge and put more resources in your toolbox but they are not the end all be all when it comes to ’successful vs not’
Todays episode is a quick checklist for you to run through if you find yourself in a situation of asking yourself ‘am I really qualified for this?’
Your superpower is being YOU— your experience(s) speak more than another degree or extra letters behind your name

In todays episode I give you 3 areas to self-assess when it comes to knowing how far your bandwith can stretch before it actually breaks.
Over committing for you might look like.. never being able to say to overtime, always saying yes to social events, feeling sluggish and low energy on your days off, being irritable towards people in your life, feeling annoyed when you see an event pop on your calendar.
This came up for me the other day when I felt annoyed towards a patient I had scheduled for a home visit when I didn't really want to.. I was angry and irritable towards them because I made the CHOICE to spread myself too thing so it made me ask myself -- who else is negatively being affected by my over committing?
& I realized I don't want to be remembered as the person who over commits and under delivers. Who sometimes shows up. Is sometimes happy.
How do YOU want to be remember? What is the impact YOU want to have on the energy of a room?
It's important to know YOU are in control of your energy and time and by over committing, not only are you forgetting about yourself but the people around you are

Diana saw a gap when it came to people (including herself) having meaningful conversations. The dinners filled with buzz and dings, Friendsgivings turning in to the same thing each year. Simple, short but powerful message coming to you from nature today. On the days when you 'don't want to', know that it's okay. But if you only live from a place of doing-- things for others, checking things off your to do list, you will feel incredibly disconnected from your body. Out of tune with your emotions. Simply going through the motions like I found myself doing when I woke up today. The connection and trust built from within yourself-- gets shared outwardly. & you're worth that connection my friend.
These weeks guest is former pediatric ED nurse who had 'it all together' on paper in terms of being an eager new grad nurse ready to dive in by landing her dream job but she just couldn't shake that feeling of knowing she wanted MORE for herself, for her health, for the people she takes care of.
After her physical health was at the absolute worst (sound familiar, nurse friend?) she knew something had to change. She went down the path of CURIOSITY and ALIGNMENT to now land the career she has to help her elevate her nursing practice to align more with who she truly is as a healer, and what she knows healthcare desperately needs.

When I was thinking about what I wanted to talk about for todays SPECIAL EPISODE I asked myself.. what would I go back and tell myself 2 years when I had this nudge to start a podcast but I wasn’t quite sure how it would unfold.
So I wanted to use today to give you an I love you AND moment..
I used to say I love you but.. but ‘but’ is contradicting, I think it shifts the energy, it takes away from the big picture where as AND adds ON. It makes it bigger. It helps normalize there is MORE to be done, said, had, etc.
So my I love you AND moment or should I say moments for today while I’m HYPING you up and giving you some examples of how I’ve used these exact one-liners on myself over the last 2 years when I’ve caught myself dimming my light.
GIVEAWAY: Because I love you SO deeply and appreciate your support I want to do a fun lil giveaway to celebrate this milestone. Between now and August 15th if you leave a rating and review on apple podcast AND make sure to send me a screenshot of it over on IG @michaela_ robertson_ you will be entered to win a $50 gift card just as a reminder how IMPORTANT you on this journey (if you aren’t an apple listener, you can tag me in your stories of any of the previous 99 episodes to enter as well) I will announce the winner over on my IG on AUGUST 16th.

I am firm believer if we live life from a place of being the victim of where you came from, blaming others, external things, just simply accepting ‘what is’— you will never feel like you truly get to LIVE YOUR life. On your terms. Paving the path you were meant to pave.
This episode I want to inspire you to find the COURAGE to challenge the beliefs that you hold. Asking yourself where else you saw the way you think/act/feel/do be represented throughout your life and really asking yourself if it is alignment with YOU in this season.
Challenging yourself for change can be uncomfortable but when you put yourself back in the driver seat of YOUR life you realize how in control and capable you really are.
In this weeks episode I get the chance to sit down with an epic nurse leader and somebody who is incredibly passionate about giving nurses the tools to bring more JOY and FUN to their career AND everyday life.

We talk about self care, boundaries, having tough conversations and everything in between!

This will for sure be a mic drop kind of episode and it was inspired by a convo I recently had with my best friend, Liz. We were talking about how everybody wants to be ambitious or be around ambitious people but when it really comes down to it— you might not have much purpose/drive outside of your 9-5 and for others and if you do, people might not know how to support you.
So how does a women that you are inspired by keep the dedication, drive, work ethic that she carries (or you see her carry because we all know that highlight reels are a fraud sometimes) throughout her days, weeks, months?
Tune in todays episode to learn how to gain more CLARITY and ALIGNMENT in order to create ambition as a byproduct.

My running coach pushed me to ask myself the question "how can you turn your weakness in to a strength?" and now I am here to ask YOU the same thing.
This episode is going to inspire you to quit sitting in what is comfortable, familiar and cozy and push you to choose DISCOMFORT. To not just accept your perceived weakness for 'what is' and turn in to a STRENGTH for yourself. With that comes a whole lot of work but YOU have what it takes.
Tag me in what you are doing to get UNCOMFORTABLE after listening to this episode over on IG @michaela_robertson_ so I can cheer you on!

Resistance— 'that sometimes gross, I don’t feel good about what I am doing feeling'
Not feeling certain you’re on the right path
The deep gut feeling of something being off
Feeling like no matter what you do, nothing is working for you— the weight isn’t being lost, you aren’t getting up on your first alarm, you can’t get in to a good routine, etc. Like no matter how much time, energy, effort you are putting in to PUSH forward life is PUSHING you right back
Might stop you dead in your tracks, have an ugly cry meltdown but hey, you get to pick yourself up again and decided what GETS to come next
This episode we talk about what to do when you start to feel resistance in your life. I explain a story that I am navigating in real time when it comes to navigating my own resistance.

Do you ever compare YOURSELF to a previous version of you?
Maybe you were more fit, smaller in size, more disciplined, more excited, etc.
You keep telling yourself that version of you TODAY, right now, listening to this ‘should be doing things differently’
Negative comparison like this can keep you stuck, leave you feeling less than
& let’s be honest you are NOT supposed to operate at the same level, with the same work ethic, the same discipline, grit, resilience— all of the time
Just like seasons change outside, seasons change in your life, you will ebb and flow with energy, goals, ambition, drive and that is OKAY
I leave you with THREE questions to ask yourself to check in with yourself and ask if you are truly honoring the season you are in.

Afraid of being the 'new kid?' WE ALL DO.
I’ve been working with a lot of newbies recently.. new nurses in my 1:1 coaching practice, new athletes in my run coaching biz and I am seeing a few common themes
The choice you have right now, today in front of you is to be stuck where you’re at, doing the same thing you’ve always done OR to give yourself the permission to stand the f up, take action and MAYBE fall down a couple times before you get a good handle on what it is you’re doing.

Narratives are a CHOICE and when you let your brain run on auto-pilot you brain will go to the default mode— what feels easiest, most convenient, least scary, closest to your comfort zone. When you CHANGE the narrative you also change the doors that are open and available to you.
As a women with big, ambitious dreams it's important to ask yourself, how is this story SERVING me?
The words you tell yourself, matters
The way you talk to yourself, matters
Your mind is a meaning creating machines and ultimately YOU get to decide what meaning you are creating in your everyday reality.
Finding somebody who can RELATE to the profession of nursing is huge when it comes to considering WHO you are going to take advice from. Jennie is a registered dietitian and she spends her time with us today chatting about all things NUTRITION for NURSES.

You are women with big ambitious goals and you were meant to impact your patients in massive ways so it's time to create the ENERGY to do exactly that and what better place to start than with the food you are eating?

I think it’s important to preface this episode with wether you have been a nurse for a year and a half or 15 years, you’ve spent a lot of time learning to live in the routine you currently have
You aren’t going to UNLEARN your current behaviors and patterns overnight but you do have THE CHOICE to make the change now
To give yourself permission to show up for YOU, before everyone else
To strucuture/plan your days off in a way that feels GOOD
Honoring what it is you NEED instead of what it is you should do
Learning to be a steward of your time and energy
I have been working closely with new clients to honor what they need and own their days off and when you step in to that version of you, not only do you channel your best energy on your day off but you also have MORE energy on the days that you work!

I wrote in my journal “should I be less multi-dimensional?” as in, I’ve seen a little people do this OR that, tell people they have to be REALLY good at one thing in order to be successful at it
& here is the thing.. just because SHE got there that way, doesn’t mean that’s the way for you too
Just because SHE has her own version of success doesn’t mean you have to define success the same way
Just because SHE has her own vision, doesn’t mean you have to share that vision
You can BE inspired by how she shows up, the things she does but don’t aspire to have the life she has, get INSPIRED to create your own damn truth

This is for my friend who:
I heard this quote in the thickest/deepest part of my burnout and it’s something I remind myself of it everyday
I felt like I was trying to escape from the season I was in, as quick as i could but my body/feet were stuck in quick sand
Like no matter what I did, I wasn’t making forward progress
Life was passing, precious moments, days, weeks and there I was, wishing it away
One question: if you only live for the best moments instead of the hard, uncomfortable ones what do you miss out on? What are you skipping by? What growth opportunities are you deciding to let pass by you?
I give you 3 challenges in this episode to help you shift from WAITING for this season to pass and start LIVING where you 2 feet stand.
I believe in YOU, do you?
Maybe you noticed, maybe you didn't-- but Built to be You was put on pause for a hot minute. Not because I didn't want to be here but because physically, mentally and emotionally, I didn't have the capacity to be here.
I kept "shoulding" all over myself but my inner knowing knew that I needed to honor + respect the things I teach here- boundaries, self love, self care, handling emotions that are hard to name and so much more.
Todays episode is more of a life chat than anything but I hope it gives some action to insight and a little bit of hope that if you are in the pits of burnout, feeling extra tired, not sure what direction life is leading you or anywhere in between-- that you too, will find your way. Like a boat stuck in the ocean during the middle of a storm, the white caps will go away, the waves will settle and the sunshine and blue skies will come in to your life again.
One thing I share in this episode that I normally don't is a little piece of my journal after a real, raw convo I had with my therapist on one of the hardest days.
From the deepest part of my heart- I love this podcast community and for you reading this right now, for making it possible!
xoxo, Mich
Todays podcast guest is apart of our nurse fam community but ALSO a powerhouse when it comes to all things holistic health. I love that Lindsey is a multi-dimensional nurse and has so many other great outlets and a greater purpose outside of who/what she does as a nurse!
Not sure what holistic health even means? Lindsey walks us through what holistic entails, how to start incorporating in to your life in real time with tangible tips and tricks to help you navigate the tricky 12 hour shifts + demand of #nurselife!
So often nurses try to overcomplicate incorporating healthier habits but I love Lindseys simple approach to all things meal prep + getting your body moving!

How have I already been a nurse for 2 years?! 🤯
I honestly feel like I just started but todays episode is a more laid back style chatting with you what I have learned in the first 2 years of being a nurse. I once dreamed of being a travel nurse and now that I am living this career path I can't help but be in major reflection mode of what a wild, confusing, beautiful ride it's been.
I hope todays episode inspires you to take a moment and reflect back on all that you have accomplished in your career and allow you to get curious about what other opportunities are out there for you!
At the end of this month I will be doing another giveaway over on my IG for anybody who shares the pod on their IG stories and tags me in it OR leaves a new review! & the best way to spread this message to more humans who need it?! By you sharing!!
Thank you so much for all that you do and for being here!
We make over 35,000 decisions every single day..
That is A LOT of decisions ya feel? Imagine if you could eliminate some of those moments where you have to second guess or think twice about what to do next
If you could save that time, intention and energy for what really matters?
I was meal prepping the other day and I was like.. I'm kind of a ninja, nbd. I am PROUD of the routines that I have and how I chose to be REACTIVE instead of PROACTIVE.
My type A personality loves having a plan but it honestly makes life simpler. Today I share with you how to overcome decision fatigue and a few simple tools you can add to your toolbox to eliminate decisions and that "putting out fires mode" as soon as you wake up in the AM. I know your mind, body and productivity will thank me for this one!
Ever found yourself upset when you didn’t finish your to do list for the day?
Or when you started a project or working towards a goal and once you finished you felt that “I could’ve done better” feeling?
Trying to be it “ALL” is setting yourself up for the pits of burnout. Disappointment and guilt.
& as you run in circles trying to accomplish “it all” you will realize it's a rat race you will never win.
As a multi-passionate, multidimensional human -- if I could do it all, I would. But TBH I was tired of the "do it all mentality"- I told my mentor this year I want everything to be EASIER
I would I want to get REALLY GOOD at a few things instead of trying to do everything.
Which meant I needed to get CLEAR on HOW to make that happen. Today I share with you an exercise that has literally change my productivity and energy. Using the PICK THREE method has allowed me to lopsided at balance, where I no longer try to squeeze a mile long to do list in to my everyday but instead get really INTENTIONAL with just a few things-- leaving me feeling more satisfied and more focus. I get DEPTH on my tasks and focus on the quality > quantity.
& I know if you take the time to implement this in your own day to day- it will change your life, too.
This weeks podcast guest interview will hit you right where it counts.. in your heart
Lina shares her real, raw vulnerable journey of the feelings that come with deciding her career is no longer for her, losing her dad to cancer, the uncomfortable work of becoming a person and leader she knows where her story matters to be heard to help others grow and evolve through their own journey.
Ever found yourself showing up to work saying “holy cow this isn’t even what I want to do be doing?”
& wondering how you ended up there in the first place?
Lina is a physical therapist who paid a lot of money and spent a lot of time to get a degree and after 3 years… she is learning how to navigate unchartered waters when it comes to figuring out what it is she really wants for yourself, her life, her career and helping you do the same
Asking yourself what is the next best move? How do I gain clarity and GROW through the season I am in?
EMPOWERING you to take off labels that other people put on you all of your life to figure out who you really are and what you really want — it is a terrifying process but she shares in real time how she is handling it and giving you some tools to also navigate the messy middle.
I hope you walk away from todays episode feeling VALIDATED that it is OKAY to change your mind. It is okay to doubt yourself. To feel alone. But learn to do the work to bring together the parts of yourself you love to EMPOWER you to build a life you love.

The education system failed to teach us as healthcare providers, as nurses, that WE are the most valuable asset of the entire profession. This episode will empower you to navigate your priorities between shifts and on your days off because that's how you fill your cup up. You are truly what makes the world go 'round in the healthcare world. And honestly, to some? You're just a number. I don't mean that in a way to talk down to you but I mean that in a way that you are just a number to so many. But you are not just a number to yourself. When you learn the tools and the resources to embody a life of being more than just a nurse..
Where you realize that how you show up outside of work translates to how you show up AT work..
When you realize that your breaking point doesn't have to be just right around the corner..
Your whole life gets to change.
Nurses need nurses and we don't only need other nurses, we need nurses who can empathize. We need nurses who can understand. We need nurses who can celebrate with one another.
If you have questions about joining the Energetic Nurse Blueprint winter class, shoot me a DM on IG @michaela_robertson_
Living it, seeing it, doing it-- hustle culture has become a lifestyle for so many.
& you may be living in it.. without even realizing it.
If you're the doer, I want to encourage you to rest.
If you're the feeler, I want to encourage you to redefine success
If you're the observer or the seer, I want you to learn how to unfollow and distance yourself from people who gave you that crummy feeling of comparison.
I want you to use todays episode as a STARTING POINT to take inventory of your day to day intentions, action and schedule and empower you with a few tangible tools to SHIFT.
This time last year I sent out an email titled "the big 3"-- it was the 3 goals I wanted to accomplish in 2021 and as I have spent the last few weeks reflecting on all that happened in 2021 this email popped in to my mind.. I went back to read it only to find out that 2 out of the 3 goals? Didn't necessarily "happen" which is why I wanted to share with you today THREE ways to REFRAME your goals.
Often times goals get chased because of what society tells you to do or because of what you feel like you "should be doing"
Or sometimes you lose sight of the long term vision while in pursuit of a goal
Or sometimes you confused REDIRECTION with quitting
I give you 3 powerful reframes to hopefully help guide you in to the new year. So you can set goals from a place of integrity with the reminder of what the bigger picture is while ALSO giving yourself permission to REDIRECT when things aren't working out the way you originally planned/thought while getting rid of this "winners never quit" mentality.
I would love to hear and celebrate some of your WINS from 2021 and whats to COME for you in 2022-- so don't forget to share the love with me over on the gram @michaela_robertson_
REMINDER: do what feels good for YOU going in to the new year, not what everybody else is doing!

Have you ever sat in a classroom looking around you saying "am I qualified to be here?"
Or walked in to a high acuity patients room & said "am I the nurse that should be caring for this patient?"
That feeling of self-doubt, discouragement, shame -- its time to NORMALIZE it.
Share it loud and proud that you don't know what you're doing, that you are nervous to try a new skill for the first time, that you can't recall 100% of the info on your last pathophysiology exam-- it is OKAY.
Imposter syndrome is something that many people look at as a negative but I want to use todays podcast episode as a reminder that you ARE on the exact path you were meant to be.

In todays episode we talk about how we rely on external people, places and things for happiness when in reality happiness comes from INSIDE. I challenge you to focus less on the people, places, things, accolades and instead get really good at
I truly think the biggest catalyst for change in your life will be learning to be learn yourself through being alone. In a world full of pings and dings-- you never really get quiet enough to learn about what it means to be you.

What do you first think of when I say "what does rest meant to you?"
Are you somebody who always feels like no amount of sleep is ever enough?
Your response to somebody who says "how are you?" is "I'm just so tired"
It's probably because you didn't know there are actually SEVEN types of rest ( I know my mind was blown too). Rest is about SO MUCH MORE than just physical rest and sleep. Todays podcast episode is to help you feel empowered to allow yourself to rest more where you need it in order to honor and respect your own boundaries and have less days where you lay your head on the pillow saying "holy cow I am exhausted and I have nothing left to give after today". Learning how to incorporate more REST in to my life has allowed me to be happier & more productive and I know it will do the same for you!

Not sure how to communicate what it is you need/want?**
Todays episode is for YOU.
**The goal of this episode is not to make you quit your job, in fact, I don’t want you to do that but instead I want you to EXPLORE: whats inside of you, in front of you & realize whats POSSIBLE for you

This episode is all about helping you identify what you need to take with you in to the new season and what is your responsibility to leave behind.
I'm a firm believer that you are not meant to operate at the same level, with the same goals, all of the time-- and that is OKAY.

Ever felt yourself tailoring your goals to what other people are doing?

Those goals you set & your identity gets so lost & wrapped up in what you are trying to achieve that you forget what got you started in the first place?
Ever chose the version of you who was playing small even when you felt yourself dreaming bigger?
Ever did something outside of your comfort zone or for the first time and found yourself saying "this is hard?"
JOIN THE CLUB SISTA-- todays pep talk is what you need to help you build an unshakeable belief in YOU that you can do whatever you want to. You have to shatter the class ceilings that are holding you back, set goals for YOU, write a letter to future YOU to remind yourself of what you need to hear when the times get tough.
After racing 26.2 miles aka marathon #6 this weekend I was reminded of how much power we have to inspire the people around us to do the things they didn't think they were capable of. & my mission for you today, is to help you light that fire and take action in your own life.
Here is a youtube video that got me through race week & I think it will inspire you, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52eng4MAYI4
Anybody else in their first few years of nursing saying"WTF is this really what I signed up for?" or maybe you are a seasoned nurse with similar feelings, todays episode was inspired by an IG live I did and the request people made to share it here on the podcast so HERE WE ARE.
Your personal and professional lives are meant to live in sync. It was the feeling of sheer dread, exhaustion, lack of fulfillment, tears rolling down my cheeks and zip recruiter being my top used app that were my red flags.
I went in to new grad life saying 'oh I refuse to be the nurse who goes through burnout' now here I am connecting the pieces only to realize I was the nurse who was stuck in the cycle of burnout.
Today we talk about the cycle of burnout: burnout, break down, bounce back and how it pertains to my experience but also how it might be unfolding in YOUR career.
I thought that what I was feeling was 'normal' for a nurse in the middle of a pandemic. I share with you 7 things I did to career transition that I hope will also inspire YOU to take radical responsibility for your career.
If you want to join my email list to be the first to know about my first ever round of MENTORSHIP specifically for nurses you can join here https://view.flodesk.com/pages/5fe0055de68abeedfb137177

I would love to know if you enjoy this style of podcast and if you vibe with the more nurse driven content!!
Todays episode is something I am sharing that I learned through the program I just completed, 75 hard.
**Because I learned on a deeper level, a lot about myself & I wanted to share with you my take on using bandaids to "solve problems" in your own personal life instead of facing the reality of what is, dealing with the hard uncomfortable emotions & how you might be running, numbing, hiding or shoving down whats going on a deeper level.
& I find just like a kid with a scrape on a knee, the bandaid makes us feel better for a short moment, but just like waterproof bandaids eventually fall off & the scrape is still there-- the same thing happens in your own life.
The problems don't go away
The emotions don't fade
The goals don't get achieved
In fact.. they just get heavier, louder & harder. Todays episode we talk about fear, identity & space. 3 essentials to removing bandaids from your own life and spending to get to know yourself.
ALSO- CHEERS TO THE ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND 50 PODCAST EPISODES!! Where has time gone? Thanks for being here, I appreciate you, always!**
This weeks podcast hits home because I recently connected the dots of burning myself out of my first job as a full time nurse. I kept trying to buy myself more time, push down the feelings of boredom & finding myself unmotivated/uninspired by things that once set my soul on fire.
Todays guest, Ellyn is a burnout + stress management coach. After going through her own version of burnout in graduate school she speaks so passionately about:
-How to identify what burnout & what it might look like in your life
-The 4 types of burnout
-What is the stress cycle, steps of it & how to end the cycle
-Burnout in life vs. burnout in your career
-Overwhelm, stress & burnout-- what they have in common & how to differentiate
& SO MUCH MORE. Like literally this episode is GOLD.
This episode didn't come by you by chance, listen to what Ellyn has to share & take note of shifts you might need to implement in to your own life.

Today's guest has been one of my FAVORITE interviews to do because I am 1) in realtime learning SO MUCH about my body & my hormones and how it plays a role in what I do DAILY & Corinne is a POWERHOUSE speaker on the subject.
She is a certified holistic nutritionist who helps reproductive aged women learn about their bodies how their hormones are so intricately connected to everything they do and how to use nutrition, lifestyle, cycle syncing, supplementation & so much more to improve their overall health which will then improve their hormones!
Trust me, I thought I was "broken" too but Corinne breaks down so many tangible goodies in this episode to help you live more in sync with your body-- we talk about everything from painful periods to hormones to mindset to energy to SIMPLE meal prep & so much more!
You can connect with Corinne on IG @corinneangelica or check out her podcast, MIND your hormones for weekly episodes here: https://mindyourhormones.buzzsprout.com/
About 60 days ago I texted Liz D, my bestie, and told her that I was going to be starting 75 Hard she replied and said "oh damn idk if I can do it rn but I've thought about it, thanks for telling me + you'll do great" not even a few hours later she said "f it, I'm in, I ordered the book"....
and THAT is what we have learned from this program. That life is never going to be convenient, there is going to be a lot of things you don't feel like doing & through this episode we are helping you bring light to the areas where you make excuses for yourself, help you recognize AND fulfill your max potential, where you can push yourself to grow & achieve just a little bit more. We talk about 75 hard, what the program is & what we have learned.
But with us & this program-- we know this is just the beginning. The things we have learned/are learning are tools that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives. It's not an end game by any means but its about conquering the inner mean girl living within you here and now and learning how to push past mediocre time and time again.
I interviewed her on another episode a few weeks ago, you can find that episode here:

This one is for my nurse fam, we (you & I) love to help others.
I think of myself as a giver by nature.. Somebody who would do anything for anyone & maybe you can relate? After all, we got in to the profession for a reason
We care about caring & care about the well-being of others
About 6 months ago I found myself dreading going to work. Everyday I would walk out to the parking lot & just close my eyes finding myself making every excuse for why the shift was hard. I was searching high & low for ways to get away from bedside nursing.
I was discouraged, frustrated & almost hopeless. Being a nurse was not at all what I expected it to be like.
Maybe you’re like.. Mich, it’s me.. Right now. I am struggling. I dread work. I don’t find joy in what I do
So I want you to ask yourself, take some time to really think about it.. what do you think about or what comes to mind when you think about the healthiest version of YOU?
Dive in to todays episode to learn more about compassion fatigue and hear the TANGIBLE TOOLS you can use to help you thrive as a nurse and get your energy back while STILL caring for others.
If you love this "nurse style" podcast pleease let ya girl know over on IG @michaela_robertson_
When you should all over yourself-- you create conflict WITHIN. Your internal environment craves boundary setting & value driven action that respects you & your energy. While your external environment is running on overdrive because you are putting unneeded pressure on yourself. “Shoulding” all over yourself leads to feeling guilty and overwhelmed which breeds inaction and stagnancy, so the more you feel like you “should” do something, the less likely you’ll actually do it.
So just because you CAN, doesn’t mean you should. Get clear on what your values & boundaries are and how to become more energetically aligned with the things you do.
Maybe what you need instead is to give yourself permission to slow down, permission to rest, permission to show up less in some areas so you can show up MORE for yourself.
You will leave this episode feeling INSPIRED to go build YOUR life resume. Not the kind of resume that you upload to zip recruiter or slap on the desk of your next hiring manager but the one you get to build through EXPERIENCES, PEOPLE & EMOTIONS.
Shifting your focus from adding extra letters behind your name to growing your toolbox with real life experiences
Not focusing on what other people are doing but what UNIQUE experiences make your life, yours
Truly letting yourself feel emotions & using them as a guide for what comes next
Expanding your network with people who want to GO WITH YOU
Taking the time to LISTEN to what others have to share
& truly? You get QUALIFIED for what comes next through LIVING.
After todays episode I challenge you to go out and DO one thing in the next 4-6 weeks that you always have wanted to do. Maybe its a trip, meeting up with a new person, launching a new podcast/biz idea, going on a solo date night or something in between and make it HAPPEN. Don’t just think about it, don’t just say I “should” but make a PLAN.
Tag me in what one thing YOU are adding to your life resume & I will be sharing mine soon, too over on IG @michaela_robertson_
So you want to be/do something different? You have to learn to change your thoughts, first. In todays episode we are talking about how self-identity is shaped, how it drives our actions and is a direct reflection of how healthy/wealthy your internal environment is. Because humans are & act consistent with the way they see the world. Today we cover both the victim mindset AND comparison aka two places where the self-identity that you want to hold, get lost.
Don't forget to tag me in this weeks episode @michaela_robertson_ because I love hearing your takeaways!
That moment when you are cloud nine excited about what it is you are pursuing & somebody who you thought would support you.. doesn't. We are about to help you take radical responsibility for the vision that was so beautifully gifted FOR you & throughout todays episode I hope you realize it is not your job to convince others what the bigger picture is, it is your job to SHOW UP for what it is and PROVE to them that you are worthy.

Growth is a choice & truthfully -- if you're not growing, you're dying.. but because you are apart of this community I know you have it on your HEART to grow, more.
My power mantra recently has been: MOVE MOUNTAINS.
Why? Because we didn't come here to play small.
We weren't meant to live mediocre.
YOU have so much untapped potential.
In todays podcast episode I want to EMPOWER you to STAY CURIOUS. Why? Because curiosity allows you to get good, at getting lucky. Know your fears and reframe the RIGHT problems to solve. Create an ENVIRONMENT that is going to serve you. & most importantly- ASK YOURSELF, what is it going to cost me 365 days from now if I stay exactly the same?
I know growth is uncomfy, but I am rooting for you babe!
In this weeks podcast episode we are covering 1) what your belief system is 2) where yours was formed 3) how to rebuild a belief system that is going to EMPOWER you to level up, in all areas of your life.
The most important question to ask yourself: is this FOR me or NOT for me? You always get a choice and it all starts with self awareness.
At the end of todays podcast episode I share with you some journal prompt to get those wheels turning to help you identify and challenge your belief system and build yourself a new one!
Today's episode is an interview with Rae, a POWERHOUSE, women's manifestation and mindset coach. She was in a doctorate program to become a clinical psychologist when she decided she was going to quit that path and PURSUE what lit a fire in her soul.. helping others reach their goals.
We chat about WHAT manifestations and affirmations even are, how and why they work. The fun SCIENCE(Y) stuff behind how your brain is wired. Finding the disconnect for you when it comes to bridging the gap of your current reality --> where you want to go and SO much more.
You might be like "AHH IDK WHAT COMES FIRST WHERE DO I EVEN START?!" when it comes to creating a reality for yourself that you crave & deserve-- lucky you, todays podcast episode can be the catalyst for change in your life!

"Take the path of least resistance.." I say HECK NAH. You might think resistance = run. But resistance is usually a sign that you're doing something new, getting outside of your comfort zone and on your way to GROWTH. It's when you fight the resistance that it becomes a 'problem'.
"What you resist, persists" - Carl Jung a Swiss psychiatrist once said because when you are so powerfully focused with energy and emotion on what you DON'T want, you rob yourself of attracting what you DO want. You find in life what you look for. Listen to todays episode to learn how to WATER what you want to grow!
As always, tag me in your takeaways on IG @michaela_robertson_ and let me know what else you want to hear here!
How many times have you said once I achieve ___ then I will be successful or happy?
You are not alone on that one but finding JOY in the process, realizing that your worth is not validated by a finish line or end goal and that all of your success IS for you, you start to live differently. '
Todays pep talk was inspired by running lucky marathon #5 this past weekend-- this training cycle was so much different than others because I TRULY celebrated every mile, every run & everyday.
The difference between successful, driven people & those who call the finish line be the end all be all-- is how they sit goals to KEEP moving forward. Tune in to todays episode to hear more!
Are you with #challengeforchange starting TODAY?
Staying in your comfort zone is where dreams fizzle & die, put politely. It's not going to help you create the change for the life you want.
& the longer you hold out/wait how many opporunties/moments do you miss
Asking yourself:
Why am I CRAVING this change?
Who am I going to be on the other side of my comfort zone?
Find people that live one step ahead of you. An environment that is constantly pushing you.
It’s not an external race, its an INTERNAL race. Get rid of the scarcity mindset and realize there IS enough for you.
What can you do, TODAY, to challenge yourself for change? It all starts with a choice.
Check out last weeks episode: Change the CAUSE, not the EFFECT to learn how to create a better internal environment.
No this isn't a "woo wooey" change your mindset, change your life type of podcast episode. There is SO MUCH more to changing your reality than just your mindset, but I am a firm believer your mindset is the most powerful tool you have.
Your external environment will only be as rich, fulfilled and driven as your internal environment. You can affirm where your at is not where you want to go but you have to do it in a positive way. Realize you are not the victim, life is not working against you, you just have some work to do in order to get to where you want to go.
First stop: deciding what thoughts you allow and what thoughts you are going to exchange.
What you water, grows taller. Choose to water the thoughts are going to uplift and support you.
... but so were YOU. It's easy to sit in admiration of what others are doing and think "that could never be me" but when you realize that success doesn't get handed to ANYBODY on a silver platter, instead it's a direct reflection of hard work & dedication those who are willing, put in.
She wasn't born with it, she's not at an advantage, she's not one step ahead of you -- it's time to step out of dimming your own light and IN TO creating the life for yourself using your ultimate superpower, YOU.
I am a firm believer that you listening, are unique, worthy and capable of everything you want in this life. You just have to put in the work to get there.
In todays episode I hope to inspire you to shift the lens of "dang she just got lucky" to "I am worthy of everything I desire and more" because YOU, are. Get curious about where you're going & quit comparing yourself to others.
YOU GOT THIS GF
Today's special guest is Allie, also known as The Debt Free Nurse. Allie paid of 46k of student loan debt and 15k in credit card debt, but how?!
She is a powerhouse of knowledge & encouragement when it comes to conquering your money mindset. She provides tangible tools & also insight on how to shift your belief system & align your core values with your spending habits so you can live a life that feels fulfilled to you.
Being in the season of twenty-something it can feel hard, overwhelming and confusing to know how & where to save, spend, pay off debt, etc. I brought Allie on todays episode because I love how she approaches money in a non-restrictive way. She believes in still allowing yourself to invest money in to the things that matter while still tackling debt AND building a savings.

“Only the MEDIOCRE are always at their best”, is that you? Living a life where you say "well, good enough I guess". To your job. To snoozing your alarm. To your workouts. To your relationships.
Are you one of the few who is actually willing to put in the work to create the life you want?
Do you believe that you are WORTHY?
Do you understand the ROOT of where your current value & belief set come from?
ENOUGH with the good enough culture. Let's create a community of people who are NOT willing to settle, who KNOW they are worthy, who REWRITE their beliefs.
I don't know about you but I don't want to get to a point in my life where I am okay with "good enough".
Listen to todays episode for a PEP TALK to get out of your own dang way and start living a life that you are PROUD of.
Gabby is a former Georgia peach, & nursing student who simultaneously was a D2 college athlete. She is now a nurse in a beach community working in emergency medicine who is also going back to school to get her Family Nurse Practitioner.
In todays episode I'm chatting with Gabby about her story, how she was a full time nursing student while also having to shift her priorities as a D2 athlete. She lost her athletic scholarship but never let that her lose sight of the bigger picture.
There is so much POWER in learning to EMBRACE your journey & the hard things life throws at you instead of making the dash to run for the hills.
If you're in a season where you're like WTF I haven no idea what's next, you feel a lot of pressure from those around you to "perform better" OR you're in the middle of making life transitions and not quite sure if it's going to be "right" for you. Do you know where your energy leaks are?
Do you even know what an energy leak is?
Do you get to the end of your day and think to yourself "WOW, I am pooped and have NOTHING left to give"
I have a feeling it's time to do an energy audit and that is exactly what we are covering in this episode.
Learning to bring SELF AWARENESS and OWNERSHIP to your energy is when you start to tap in to max growth. When you are able to give your BEST energy to the things and people that are most important to you instead of just the rest of your energy? That is when you start to live ALIGNED.
Ask yourself am I a thermostat or a thermometer? I want YOU to set the energy bar because energy is contagious. Tune in to todays episode to find out where/how your energy leaks are happening AND learn how to do an energy audit in your own life!

“STUCK” - got a degree you’re not happy with? or absolutely love your job but have a gut feeling of wanting a passion project but feel guilty for wanting more because you have “enough”?
INVESTING IN YOURSELF- the awkward transition phase of like I did all this learning but now.. what? Does your profession encourage you to continue to learn & grow? How are you growing and expanding your mind, skills, abilites? Are you invest your time, energy and money to becoming a better version of you?
Are you stuck in coast mode of your own learning?
RELATIONSHIPS/COMMUNITY
We crave acceptance & belonging which is OKAY but setting boundaries in your relationships and doing an audit- is this serving me? is it making a positive contribution to my overall well being? are they growing with me or watching me hit the ground running?
EVERYDAY is an opportunity for a new page, new chapter, new opportuntity to change the trajectory of the rest of your life-- MAKE THE TWENTIES YOUR BEST YEARS YET
This weeks podcast episode is something NEW but it's still just as fire. Honestly- I am so damn proud of 2019 Michaela for deciding to put in her REPS to continue to build her CONFIDENCE.
Confidence is something everybody strives for.
To be more confident in your own skin. To be more confident in your skills. To build confidence to boost self-esteem. But REALLY- what is the end goal of "achieving confidence".
It's who you BECOME in the process. All of the things you want to be, do, accomplish, see. Confidence is not an end destination but it IS- a muscle, an action AND a feeling.
You want to eliminate fear, shame, doubt? The goal isn't to never hold on to navigate a negative thought again but rather LEARN to NAVIGATE those negative thought patterns come by:
1) Climbing the thought ladder aka overcoming your limiting beliefs
2) The Confidence CYCLE a cycle to put in your REPS & build belief
Both of these I cover in this weeks podcast episode which was a snippet from a workshop I hosted recently.
Snag the workshop recording and workbook HERE & join my email list to stay up to date on all things COURSE LAUNCH 2021: https://view.flodesk.com/pages/601aefd11d946b2de05f01b7
Can you relate to these 3 mindset tendencies that are self sabotaging you from reaching your goals?
Point A to point B is NOT linear but what could you do to unlock even more within you?
Looking at external things is easy to do when you're not where you want to be yet, but point the finger at YOU, is it YOU that is holding you back?
Take OWNERSHIP & PRACTICE overcoming these behaviors.
1- DISQUALIFYING yourself before you even start — why it won’t work for you, all of the things that could wrong, all of the reasons why you’re not worthy
2- Being in constant state of waiting for something to go wrong — where is the “catch” "when is ish going to hit the fan”. The anticipation for something to go wrong is robbing of JOY
3- The confidence gap -- "I can’t do anything until ___"
confidence is action and a feeling, the action comes FIRST, the feelings come second & in order to get good at something you have to put in the WORK.

Are you guilty of just going through the motions? Check marking the boxes? Do you have INTENTION behind your actions?
If not, tune in to todays episode to learn how to create more INTENTIONAL action in your life to help move you forward while bridging the gap of where you are vs. where you want to go.
The way you do one thing is the way you do everything so finding INTENTION in even the smallest moments, bringing self awareness to WHAT you consume, how you set goals and gaining CLARITY on what the bigger picture is will allow you to keep creating intentional change in your life.

THANKS FOR BEING HERE
It's easy to sit around and say "they are so brave", "I wish I had their drive" but you never think TWICE about that person being YOU, it's time to stop admiring and starting BEING
Turning the “that could never be me” to --> WHY THE HECK NOT YOU!?
That GUT FEELING is real- that rumble of holy cow I have no idea what I am doing but I really want to figure it out, is there for a REASON.
FUTURE you needs YOU today to take action & stop being held back from LEVELING UP. Instant gratification is NOT a thing but future YOU will look back at where your two feet stand today and say "I"M PROUD".
& besides, you never know who is WATCHING and needs to see YOU taking action. Do it for you & do it for her.
Are you that person who waits until your low fuel light is flashing at you in your car OR are you the person who catches it before it hits empty to refill?
What about your PERSONAL energy tank- are you that person who exhaust all of your resources until you have nothing left to give OR are the person who is proactive & maps out your energy?
Because the most valuable resource you have: YOUR ENERGY
So HOW do you recharge? How can you create a routine around your introverted vs. extroverted tendencies/behaviors?
WHY DOES THIS EVEN MATTER?!
how do you find and channel your best energy?
do you need alone time?
do you need socialization?
Learn to CREATE a routine around HOW you like to recharge.
Identify if you get energy from alone time vs. socialization, learn to say NO, set better boundaries, do an audit on the people you surround yourself with.
I did a whole episode on learning to say NO, listen here!

Your MAX potential growth? It's around the corner but it's up to you to UNLOCK that growth. It requires looking inward, asking yourself "how can I get outside of my comfort zone in order to GROW more?"
In todays episode we are talking about how you can tackle the three things that might be holding you back from your GROWTH.
Your mindset & perception of the season you are in.
The need to be "perfect" before trying.
The external noise aka other peoples opinions & no matter what you do the external noise will always be there so you have to learn to NAVIGATE it.
I want you to find COMFORT in getting uncomfy because when you are GROWING you are leveling up your life. & you are worthy of all the success that is coming your way.
Time to unlock that max growth potential GF!
RAPID FIRE OF MY TOP 20 LESSONS IN 2020 because MAN was it a year of MASSIVE GROWTH. From learning to give my best energy instead of just the rest, living for ME, not for others, creating INTERNAL happiness and learning to love myself more while finding comfort in ALONE time, investing time and ENERGY to help me LIVE a life FULL of potential, massive changes moving across the US causing GROWTH and so much more!
This podcast journey was one of my biggest blessings in 2020 and so grateful for YOU to be on this journey with me.
One of my fave episode is all about wearing busy as your badge of honor, if you haven't listened yet, I recommend checking it out here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/built-to-be-you/id1531619354?i=1000493614657
Going off the traditional path of "here is how to set & accomplish new year goals" and instead talking about setting GOALS with your HEART aka a framework to set goals that you are actually attracted to instead of goals you just "feel like you should be doing" because of the external noise going on around you.
Using the HEART framework AND digging in to the 7 layer why challenge will help you set goals that ACTUALLY have clarity, the messy action steps will follow but it all starts with the power of WHY.
PS: this doesn't have to just be a "new year goal setting type of thing" come back to this, ALWAYS. Let me know if you use this & let me know what you think of it!

Todays podcast episode is all about choosing an IDENTITY that is aligned with YOU, not how you "feel like" others see you and uncovering VALUES that drive your action. Getting to the root of your values, identifying if they are actually yours to hold on to or if they are ones you have unconsciously picked up on from your environment is a process that takes WORK every single day. But aligning your values with your actions allows you to truly live a life that you want. Cheers to you, sis!
