The character of abundant faith is evident in the way we pray and the way we persevere in our relationship with God. When things get tough or don't go the way we want, are you more apt to say God owes me this, or I wonder how God will show himself through this situation? Are you more apt to keep praying the same prayer over and over, or are you willing to allow God to edit your prayers and, in doing so, get on the same page with Him? No doubt God hears our prayers, but do we have the patience to wait on him and allow him to transform us in the process?
There is a significant difference between forgiveness and reconciliation. We often think that just because we forgive a person, we must also reconcile with them. While living reconciled in all our relationships would be ideal, it is not always wise or prudent. Forgiveness is about letting go or releasing someone from the hurt they have caused you. When we don't forgive, it is too easy for bitterness to take root, for us to hold on to anger, or to believe we can extract something from the offending party by not forgiving. Ultimately, by not forgiving, we give power to the person who has wronged us.
Parable of the talents makes us ask lots of questions, and unfortunately, most of them are the wrong ones. We want to know why the servants get different amounts of coins, and we want to know what the master was thinking. Neither is the point of the parable. The parable is about taking steps of faithfulness, using what you have been given to work for, and bringing glory to God. How often is this like our lives? We make things much more complicated by adding a lot of unfiltered clutter.
In Luke 15:11-24, Jesus tells the parable of the Prodigal Son to illustrate the depth of God's love and forgiveness. This parable highlights three profound truths about our Heavenly Father: He is always waiting for us, He runs to us with compassion, and He embraces us regardless of our past mistakes.
Through Jesus's diverse parables, we unraveled the multifaceted concept of the Kingdom of Heaven. The Kingdom of God, we learned, is not merely a physical domain but a spiritual reign of Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit and expressed through the Church.

Through Nebuchadnezzar's story in Daniel 4, we are reminded that true sovereignty belongs to God, and we must recognize His authority, give Him credit, and responsibly manage the blessings He provides.
Ruth's story illustrates restoration through her redeemer, not by her own efforts. Her lost home, husband, and hope were all restored in ways she couldn't have imagined, showcasing God's power in restoring what was broken or lost.

Not only did Ruth become wife to Boaz, Naomi's kinsman redeemer, but in doing so, Ruth became part of the lineage of Jesus Himself! Just think, your steps of godliness, in obedience to God's leading, open doors, both in the now and in eternity. Keep taking steps of faith because your godly conduct is yielding great rewards!

We started a new series this Sunday in Ruth. Ruth is a fantastic romance story, but in order to get to the good part, you have to find your way through a few rough patches. If that doesn't sound like real life. Chapter 1 has a lot to teach us. We start off with three deaths and a famine, and amidst them, we see the beauty of boldness through the faith of Ruth. You don’t have it in you to be bold and courageous apart from the Holy Spirit working in and through you.
Titus is encouraged by Paul to help put the church in order on the island of Crete, calling him and them to live lives steadied by a commitment to goodness. The difficulty, much like our world, is that the island of Crete is inhabited by liars, evil brutes, and lazy gluttons. Similar to the world we live in, the world, our flesh, and the devil do all they can to tear us down and apart. Paul steps in with this letter to instruct them and us on how to bring order into our lives. Let's get to it!
We have so much to learn from Peter's initial denial of Jesus and his subsequent encounter with the resurrected Christ. Through Peter's experience, we were reminded of the universal human struggle with failure and the innate longing for forgiveness.
Peter's journey resonates with each of us, for who among us hasn't experienced moments of failure or betrayal? Yet, despite Peter's denial, he was not cast aside or condemned. Instead, he was met with forgiveness and grace, extending to him an invitation to step into a renewed relationship with Jesus. It's a reminder that no matter how far we stray, we are never beyond the reach of God's love and mercy.
We often pray for God to do more than we can ask or think. But are we ready to follow him when the very thing he might ask us to do doesn't make sense? Moreover, are we even in a position to see what he might be asking us to do? God allows, sometimes creates awkward situations asking for us to do uncommon things. If we aren't paying attention, watching and waiting we may very well miss the small step of faith he is asking us to take.
As we approach the conclusion of our Miracles in Mark series, we're reminded of the profound impact Jesus has had on countless lives. Today, our focus shifts to one of the most remarkable responses to receiving sight: the story of Bartimaeus. His story starts with a loud cry for help; he did not want to miss his moment. He jumps up and goes to Jesus when he calls him, and after he is healed, he fully follows Jesus. His story begins in Mark 10:46-52.
God's Word is powerful, living, and active. His Word is applicable for us to use, accurate for us to trust, and authoritative for us to stand on and submit to. His Word breathes new life into us when all life feels like it is being swept or taken away. God's word brings clarity and perspective, peace and comfort, love and grace, mercy and compassion. God wants us to experience the riches of life with him, and we do that best when we are connected to him through His Word.
In Mark 8, we see that despite witnessing Jesus' previous miracles, the Pharisees approached Jesus with a skeptical attitude, seeking further proof of his divine authority. Instead of providing another miraculous sign as they requested, Jesus declined, indicating that their demand stemmed from their hardened hearts rather than genuine faith.
This narrative reminds us not to miss what Jesus is saying, what He has done for us, and, ultimately, who He is. It's a call to have hearts wide open to Jesus.
Jesus never performs a healing or a miracle the same way twice. Sure, there are specific things that are true of all miracles, but rarely are they ever performed the same way. The outcome might be the same, yet the journey varies for each, and that is what makes for great opportunities to worship God. We see in the Gospels that all miracles:
- Are divine in nature, meaning they are from God
- Display God's love
- Are directed by Jesus and thus ought to always glorify God
We do well to recognize God's power and love through miracles and to ultimately delight in Jesus.

Pursuing peace through external achievements like vacations, titles, or wealth will, at best, provide relaxation, but it is not a calmness of your soul. Peace on earth is found only in the presence of God, not in the place or position you achieve.
Jesus’ birth is the beginning of the end of sin and death. We needed a mighty God, a valiant warrior to conquer sin and death! When we receive Jesus as our Savior and Lord, that is exactly what we get! A mighty God who overcomes our sin and desires a closer than close relationship with you and me.
This Christmas, we'll explore these four names of Jesus within the context of the Christmas story. As explained in Sunday's sermon, the wise men's search for and submission to Jesus unveiled the truth: Jesus is our Wonderful Counselor.
God took David from being in the cave to being Israel’s king. Tell God how you feel, and trust God with how you respond.
We come from all different walks of life and backgrounds, and we have various talents and gifts. It’s beautiful when we humbly come together as the body of Christ and stay focused on Jesus.
The life you have today is different than the life you thought of in high school. Think of everything you have built from then until now: Relationships, marriage, wealth, knowledge, education, experiences, etc. Most are probably things that only God could do and gifts we often take for granted.
The presence of God can be accessed in traffic, a board room, the doctor's office, on a date, and in the most stressful or joyful situations. There is never a time when we cannot draw near and be in the presence of God.
A garden left unattended grows weeds. A car left unattended gets dirty. A heart left unattended drifts toward evil. What has The Lord entrusted to you? What will you do to protect it?
We don’t have it all together, and that’s OK. That’s where God’s grace comes in. Accept it and do all that you do to glorify Him. A life lived to glorify God is a grand adventure! It’s what makes a full, meaningful, and purpose-filled life.
Where you plant a seed greatly impacts how the plant grows. Are you planted where you will see growth, stay fresh, and flourish?
The spiritual weight of unconfessed sin is heavy and brings conviction. The good news about conviction is that it means the Holy Spirit is working on us. There is joy in forgiveness from God, and there is joy in obedience to God.
As we wrap up our summer chasing Paul through his ministry in Acts, we can see that the story isn't really about Paul. It's about the spreading of the Gospel. And the story doesn't end with Paul.
The message of Jesus is powerful and changes people. It’s not rhetoric or storytelling. It’s life-changing! Don’t allow your faith to become stale. Seek fresh faith daily.
Paul continued to trust God and know He was in control even when the world around him seemed to be telling him differently. Paul was clear and confident about his faith in God.
No prayer is too small or too big, either! We often err on the small side because it fits into our logical human minds. Peter and John asked for great boldness, God's healing power, miracles, and wonders!
If the disciples needed instructions on prayer…then certainly we do too.

After the shepherds visited Jesus, they returned with glory and praise to God in their hearts because of all they had heard and seen. Nothing externally changed, but everything internally did. It was the same sheep, fields, and social status…but everything was different because of Jesus.
When people move at our pace, schedule, and desires…it just is so much better. When they don’t, it’s an opportunity to work on our human relationship skills…but here is the question..
What do you do when God doesn’t do what you want Him to do?
Some seasons in life are difficult, like don’t want to finish the assignment difficult. But Paul encourages Timothy and us to finish well. Are we relying on Jesus when we face those times? Are we looking at what matters in eternity because that changes our perspective and helps us find the perseverance to finish well?
We can all agree that life is complex, full of drama, challenging, and anything but blue skies and sunshine all the time. Sometimes we need something to grasp. Scripture is God-breathed to help us better understand the character and nature of God. He uses it to mold and shape us into the person He wants us to be even as we walk through the day-to-day here on earth.
Running after vs. Running away. If you are running after something it means you are running away from something. Weight loss, financial health, scholarships. So, what do you run after in the Christian life?
Run after the things of God.
- Run after truth
- Run after Purity
- Run after Peace

Jesus said the path to follow Me will have pain and suffering. It won’t always be blue sky and sunshine. Sometimes there are dark days full of storm clouds. We walk through seasons of pain and suffering. Mental, relational, financial, physical…so what do you do in your suffering?

Paul’s final words to Timothy were personal, heartfelt, and enduring. He wanted Timothy to remember his own faith story, embrace the gift God placed in him, and find his purpose here on earth. Paul knew that following Jesus was bigger than just believing in Him.

Our Heavenly Father wants more, FAR MORE, for us than we can even imagine for ourselves. Don’t limit God with questions of why, how, and when.
We prioritize things that matter the most to us, because we know if everything is important then nothing is. We have a limited amount of time, energy, emotions, brain space, and at some point, we run out. Jonah has a horrible attitude and short-term perspective. In fact, this last chapter paints Jonah in not a very good light. He cares completely about the wrong things, God calls him out on it, and before we get too judgmental of him…I wonder how many of us do the same?
When Jonah showed up in Nineveh with a message from God, the people there didn’t hesitate. There was immediate change in their actions and directions.
What do we do when we find ourselves walking through the deep waters of our own choices? Turn our focus on God and not the fish surrounding us. The truth is, we are never too far gone to be used by God.
The main character of Jonah is God. We see God cares for all, God will do what He wants, God disciplines sin, and God is full of compassion. God uses Jonah and the whale to communicate a message to the nation of Israel and to us today. God has the 1st and last word in Jonah. It’s a little book with a big message.
We don’t get stronger by going TO the gym and sitting on a bench. We have to be an active part of the gym to see changes and grow in strength. Our prayer is for you to not just go to church but fully follow Jesus by being a part of it.
It’s no secret that we all have some weaknesses, and there is nothing wrong with asking God to take away those weaknesses. But what do you do when God doesn’t remove them?
At some point in your life, you have all felt hurt and alone. You did not know what you should do next. What can you do in the waiting?
It’s easy to think the God in the bible is not necessarily the same God that works today.
Moses dies and he is described as “there has never been another prophet like Moses whom the Lord knew face to face” – Moses’s life ends, but the purpose of God does not.
When we are making faith-based choices, whether big things or small things, we are trying to find our way to stay connected to Jesus. But there are often people and things that get in the way. No matter what, all our choices must be connected to our faith. Then as we look back over a lifespan of days, we can see how God uses those choices to bless us and our families.
When things are going well, when a little success comes our way, when things become easy…we so often buy into our own press clippings. We think because of our hard work, smart decisions, creativity, talent, education…etc. That’s why we are where we are. Moses gives warning to the Israelites. It’s about to get good in the promised land, don’t forget who got you there, you rescued you, and who has blessed you.
Obedience goes against what WE want to do. It means someone has authority over our lives and we don’t like that. Deuteronomy takes place 40 years from where we left off. Moses dies at the end of this book, and gets to see the promised land…but doesn’t get to enter.
We treat the word humble as an adjective or use humbly as an adverb. But it is truly a verb. It is a way to be. It is active, not passive. What action in your life do you need to choose to do in humility?
James 4:8 – come close to God and He will come close to you. The idea of being in the presence of God doesn’t have to be this ethereal idea but something you can experience in your life.
Human beings are not meant to be alone, they are meant to be in community and to interact with each other. Moses was doing what God told him to do, but he was shouldering it all by himself. His father-in-law shows ups, and God uses him to tell Moses the value of help. Think of it through two lenses…Professional and Personal. You can do what God wants but not always in the way He wants.
I think we have all been confident in public and panicked in private. New job, newlywed, new parent, step parent, new school…etc. Moses finds himself in a similar situation. It’s a chaotic situation, everyone is panicked, and Moses turns to God...
You just have no idea how God can use one step of obedience, one step out of your comfort zone, one thing out of the ordinary to completely change your life. God did it for Moses, through a shrub that was on fire. Join us as we look at the posture Moses had and the problems Moses had.
As Christians, we should be the best at putting our beliefs and values into action. When we ask someone how they’re doing, we should genuinely be interested. Jesus told us that we would be identified as his followers by the way we love one another.
Most of us have lost the art of slowing down and resting. We celebrate busy and burnout. But that’s not the best way to fully follow Jesus. He rested. Jesus took time to get away from everyone, stop everything, and rest with God.
We get so focused on where we are going or what we are trying to do, that we fail to notice the needs and people around us unless they can help us get to where we are going.
Are you willing to sacrifice the direction you want to go, the time you want it to take, and the commitment you are willing to give…in order to fully follow Jesus?
Your favorite team, your kid, your house, your hobby…when it’s something you believe in, you’re passionate about it because it is personal. Don’t let the calendar weeks after Easter distract you from making your faith personal.
Shame says, "You're not worthy." Jesus says, "You are."
- How do I walk in a way that deals with the reality of who I am, my brokenness and yet not walk around in shame, hiding, secretly frustrated with me?
- Where can I find a healthy balance walking in the reality of my imperfections but knowing that I have a King who says that I am worthy of the Kingdom?
- What do you think God thinks about you when He thinks about you?
When we look back over Joseph’s story, we can clearly see God’s plan for his life before he rose to power in Egypt. The same God that led Abraham and Isaac was leading Joseph all along. Generations of men before Joseph did their part to pass on God’s wisdom and guidance to the next generation.
When Joseph’s brothers showed up in Egypt, he chose to show them grace. God’s love and power shined in this moment, and He turned a mess into a nation saving miracle.
What would you do if you knew The Lord was with you no matter what?
What do others see when you’re in pain?
What sin have you taken nonchalantly?
Where is your source of comfort?
When we put in dysfunction, we get dysfunctional relationships. But a dysfunctional beginning doesn’t have to make a dysfunctional ending. Joseph is proof that when we live the way God calls us to live, He can use any situation for good.
