In an increasingly digital post-COVID world, authentically connecting with people can feel like a struggle. We want to help you strengthen your relationships.
Native Root is a Colombian coffee company. We partner directly with Nasa indigenous farmers so we can pay them 10% more and tell you exactly which farmers picked your beans. But, our mission goes so much deeper. We want to use coffee as a universal language. We want to use it to foster human connection.
So, every weekday, Ben Hermann and Braden Mosley talk with guests of all kinds over a cup of ethically sourced specialty Native Root c
@_chelsthomas is no stranger to adversity. After hearing her main income source was being stripped from her and her husband, they decided to turn their “plan B” gym investment into their “plan A”.
A few months after diving headfirst into this business, COVID swept across the country, forcing gyms to close their doors indefinitely.
Throughout this time, Chelsea and @levi_thomas_ relied as much as they could on their faith in God to help them weather the storm.
Chelsea believes God put them under such pressure to test them and make them stronger. They continued to walk by faith throughout these trials, and because of that God blessed them with a community of people that helped them survive and eventually thrive as the restrictions began to ease.
Now, the mother of 2 is using her position as a leader, business owner, and fitness coach to help as many people as she can.
Listen to Chelsea talk with @ben10hermann and @braden_mosley about trusting God’s plan and focusing on doing the next right thing

@anniesqceats joined us this morning to talk about her journey of creating annieqceats! You have an idea, but you don't know how it will be received. Will people care? Am I wasting my time?
Executing your idea can be nerve-racking at first but in the end, it's worth doing it. Doing the things that are uncomfortable is what helps you grow. If you just start doing whatever it is, people will see your passion for it and naturally want to support you! Let us know your ideas! We'd love to encourage you to chase your dreams!

Join Braden, Ben, & Travis as they discuss the creative framework used for our coffee. One of the most important strategies is to just say weird ideas to get your mind in the right space. Don't shoot these ideas down either. Think how could we actually make this happen and you may be surprised. Another way to help be creative is to list out all attributes of a product or service. Then figure out how you can improve each attribute

As @braden_mosley and @ben10hermann started talking about fitness, they quickly went into the deep underlying factors of happiness. There are two ways to define happiness: pleasure and fulfillment. Pleasure is often referring to immediate gratification and dopamine hits in your brain, while fulfillment is the long-term feeling that you are doing what is right and being your best self. Rarely does the path to fulfillment start with pleasure. Discipline plays a massive role in fulfillment, no matter what your goals are. If you want to lose 10 pounds (the right way) it most likely isn’t going to be pleasurable in the beginning, but once you are seeing progress, you will begin to feel the stronger version of happiness we call fulfillment.

Brandon Alan is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor from Quad City Behavioral Health Associates.
Our society is heavily reliant on talking to others via social platforms. It's great that we can connect with people across the world but there are a few things we need to be conscious of. Socializing in person is a skill and it's normal for it to feel weird when we haven't done it frequently. Your brain automatically picks up on all factors of a post. We need to actively remind ourselves we aren't seeing the full picture. This person probably doesn't live like this every day. An easy example is travel posts. We take thousands of photos when we travel and want to share. This doesn't mean we are always traveling. We just have a ton of photos. Each time we see an exciting post it creates a dopamine release making us want to do it more. The algorithm puts things in front of us that we engage with most frequently. We want to thank @bakutmas for sharing a cup of coffee with us! Brandon is a co-owner of a mental health clinic so it was very interesting hearing his expert opinion on the subject today!

@preachswanson came on to talk with @ben10hermann and @braden_mosley about coffee acting as a way to warm people up, make them feel comfortable, and open up to God’s word.
We also talk about how the best way to honor God through our work is with excellence. With Native Root, for example, producing some of the best coffee on Earth may be the best way we can honor God. Not because we are flaunting our Christianity, but because we are relying on our faith to produce such amazing coffee and build such strong relationships.

Booke Bierhaus is a world traveler and documentarian. In her recent documentary, "The Connected Cup", she traveled to 9 different countries to discover the connection that coffee and tea can create.
Coffee has the unique ability to connect people from any background. The warm feel of a freshly brewed cup of coffee is inviting and comforting.
@itsbrookebierhaus joins us as we talk about her documentary @theconnectedcup and how she connected with people over a common cup in 9 countries.
Towards the middle of the podcast, we start talking about blockchain and how it can be used to help developing countries. How can we use it to give our coffee farmers more resources?

How creating margin in your day can allow you to reach your target.
It's difficult for many of us to have a healthy work life balance because of the amount of problems that can pop up throughout the day.
It's important to create the space in the day to do the things that will fill your cup.
Maybe you haven't just gone to a coffee shop to enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation with a friend. Reach out to that friend and do it.
How do you create space in your day?

As our world continues to automate we need to make sure we are not losing the skill of human connection.
Throughout the pandemic, it became clear that we can lose our ability to connect with others. It felt like we didn't know how to talk to someone again.
We need to make sure we practice connecting and communicating with others.
Coffee can be a tool for us to use in human connection. Its warmth on our hands feels inviting and opens us up for connecting.
Invite someone out for a cup of coffee this weekend. Challenge yourself to connect with humans this weekend!
