HyperSpace is a breakdown-style podcast of all recent space events ranging from NASA to Roscosmos to SpaceX and everything in between. HyperSpace is designed to bring you up to date on all things space without taking out a major chunk of your day. There is no set schedule for HyperSpace, instead the episodes come in as activity happens, which is becoming more and more frequent in these exciting times. The only way space travel can succeed is for public support to persist and here at HyperSpace we hope to do our part to make that happen!
In the 8th episode of HyperSpace we take a look at the exciting debut of Firefly Aerospace and their Alpha small launch vehicle with the first flight from Vandenberg Space Force Base's SLC-2W in nearly 3 years. Although the flight didn't survive very long, it was still a very impressive inaugural launch. Additionally, Russian Cosmonauts completed the first in a series of space walks outside the International Space Station to bring the new Nauka module online.
In today's episode of HyperSpace, we break down the events leading to and following the impressive yet disappointing failure of Astra's 3rd orbital launch attempt of their LV0006 Rocket 3 small sat vehicle in Kodiak, Alaska on August 28th. Additionally, we see the exciting return of Space Coast launch operations in Florida with the Falcon 9 launch of the CRS-23 Cargo Dragon on August 29th to the International Space Station that also marked the debut mission of SpaceX's brand new Autonomous Spaceport Droneship A Shortfall of Gravitas.
On today's episode of HyperSpace we break down the exciting fit test campaign that brought the first fully-stacked Starship Superheavy to life at SpaceX's Starbase facility in Boca Chica, Texas. Additionally, we'll take a look at Boeing's wounded Starliner capsule and the resulting delays. For flights on today's episode, we summarize Northrop Grumman's Cygnus CRS NG-16 mission to the International Space Station and we also extend our condolences to the Indian Space Research Organization following the failed launch of a GEO imaging satellite aboard the GSLV Mark II.
In today's episode of HyperSpace we breakdown the first crewed flight of Blue Origin's New Shepard, we'll also welcome Rocket Lab and Electron back to flight capabilities before discussing Roscosmos' whirlwind of a week following the launch of their first new module for the International Space Station in over a decade before rounding off flight news with the launch of an Ariane V and two communications satellites. And as always, the episode finishes off with the Boca Chica roundup as we check in with progress at SpaceX's Starbase facility in South Texas.
In this episode of HyperSpace, we take a look at Virgin Galactic and Sir Richard Branson's Unity 22 flight aboard the VSS Unity on July 11th. We also check in with SpaceX's new autonomous spaceport droneship A Shortfall of Gravitas and as always we check in on Starbase testing in South Texas with our Boca Chica Roundup, this time featuring a cryogenic proof test of BN3.
The first week-long recap episode of HyperSpace. We look at space activity (along with some boats and maybe even a giant metal cylinder) between July 2nd and 9th of 2021. The China National Space Administration had four launches and an EVA aboard the new Tiangong Space Station, CRS-22 Cargo Dragon Returns from the ISS, Of Course I Still Love You completes its Panama Canal transit, A Shortfall of Gravitas makes its debut and SuperHeavy Booster 3 begins its test campaign.
The first doubleheader launch coverage of HyperSpace and a Soyuz for good measure! Virgin Orbit's Tubular Bells and SpaceX's Transporter-2 take to the skies on June 30th, 2021. On July 1st, OneWeb #8 launches 36 internet satellites atop a Soyuz 2.1a/Fregat from Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia, Progress MS-17 rendezvouses with the ISS and SuperHeavy BN3 is rolled to Suborbital Test Stand A in Boca Chica, Texas.
