You deserve it.

I've been super busy lately. But not the kind of busy that you'd think.

I've been busy enjoying more social connection with my friends, focusing intent on being mindful, reading more, finding a new fitness routine, going for bike rides with my family.

Sure that sounds like a big ol "OH GOOD FOR YOU, REID!"

But guess what? You deserve it too.

Take a damn break.

I freaking love how raw and authentic JMO is.

In today's Episode we speak about how this available autonomy has helped him grow his clinic as well as how it has helped him communicate within his niche demographic of athletes.

Jaime gained a ton of experience over the last few years while working down south with EXOS on a lot of high level athletes including MANY of the top NFL players that you watch on Sunday Afternoons. With this experience, he has since moved back to the East Coast where he helps athletes of many ranges achieve their best.

What that means is, he functions as a Performance Specialist. What does that even mean?! Listen in!

Dr. Aaron is VERY outspoken - or so it seems.

If you look on the surface of just social media you might perceive him as arrogant or bashing the profession in which he practices. But that's social media.

Yes, he has some strong opinions or stances - but he's actually a VERY likeable dude. His stances just come from questioning EVERYTHING - which isn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact, I wish more people would be a little bit more inquisitive.

Dr. Jeff is an absolute National Treasure. Speaker, author, founder, creator, and most importantly just a generally inquisitive person seeking what's next.

Jeff is a Chiropractor who, early in his career, found unique ways of exposing the world to what Chiropractors do. We call this 'marketing but sometimes that has a negative connotation to it. If you're not marketing (or selling) you're not helping people. And if you're not helping people - you're not doing you best job. This translates beyond just Chiropractors but to ALL health care providers.

Jeff has launched multiple platforms around this concept. Namely, The Smart Chiropractor (B2B Marketing) and The Evidence Based Chiropractor  (B2C Marketing) that helps simplify the process via automation.

I love nerding out with smart people and Jeff is absolutely one of those people. I could chat with him for hours on these subjects as well as  snowboarding, podcasts, video gear, and so much more!

I've been super excited to chat with Dr. Joe on the podcast ever since I started it. We finally got him on!

Joe is a PT based out of NYC with an awesome background story leading to his style of patient care. With that, communication takes a huge role. And communication doesn't mean just TALKING. It means listening - a LOT. Yes, he is the single New Yorker with a real big heart.

We also chat a bit about the CBD industry as Joe is leading the charge with the company Fringe CBD. I get real excited about this stuff because I love outside-the-box thinking especially as it relates to the overall heathcare model. Prevention > Reaction.

Hope you all enjoy today's episode! Don't forget to follow/like/subscribe/review/etc!

Holy smokes. It's been a hot minute. But I PROMISE more episodes (with dope guests) are coming soon. Like, real soon. Like, once every other week kind of soon because #busy

What's better as a re-introduction than the classic Elevator Speech right? I realized that I never actually introduced myself on any of the Podcast Episodes, so here it is!

Why do elevator speeches always have to be so awkward? And how can we make them more interesting? And where the heck do you put your hands when someone sings you Happy Birthday?!

I'm pumped to be back and excited to have you all along for the ride!

Hey clinicians, how's your compliance?

Probably not the greatest right? Or at least that's the national average.

Guess what? It might be YOUR fault.. not your patient's or client's.

Yep, I said it.

We need to be better at communicating HOW and WHY these exercises or at-home strategies are crucial to getting our people not just out of pain, but also addressing WHY they are in pain in the first place.

Enjoy my rant.

How are you helping more people?

@dannymattapt is today's guest on the podcast and boy oh boy was I in full 'fan-girl' mode the entire duration of this conversation.

Danny is a huge cash-based clinic fan. As a PT who started in the military model of care where he served with the Army for 7 years, he knows all too well that when people PAY they PAY attention.

In this episode, we talk about how creating this buy-in with patients and clients allows providers to truly give a damn about their care.

Danny's vehicle of helping more of the population is by helping more clinicians realize their potential with this case-based model. Scaling their business past themselves so they THEY can help more people in their area.

If you have any questions about taking the leap into a successful clinical business - be sure to reach out to Danny and give his Podcast (The PT Entrepreneur Podcast) a listen as well!

Ever wonder what the best route for treatment is for your injury or issue?

Should you go to PT first? Surgery? Just sit and wait it out with pain management?

There is no perfect answer.

It all depends on the patient and their goals, their past history, their morphology, and a plethora of different factors.

Today we're joined by Dr. TJ Ridley to discuss just that. What does a surgeon have to say about some of these common issues and injures? You'd  be surprised that he's a HUGE fan of taking a 'Minimum Effective Dose' approach first.

We’ve all had it happen - Your phone starts buzzing and one of your friends from college or high school’s names comes across the screen.

What do you do? Answer it? Ignore it?

What  do they want to talk about? Did they get engaged? They’re expecting  their first kid? Someone needs help or is in a dire situation? What  possibly could warrant their call out of the blue?

What if they just want to say ‘hi?’

Human Connection - we needed it even before the Pandemic - this isn’t something new.

It's all connected.

Often times, we as clinicians AS WELL AS PATIENTS forget this.

We're human first. We all have different reactions to the same diagnosis or issue.

We have a brain attached to this meat-vehicle we walk around in.

Today's Episode is just a quick rant on the subject.

Director of Business Development / Personal Trainer / Coach / Research and Development / Author / Speaker / Educator / Iron Slinger..

There are more than enough ways to describe MC. The one I like to use most is 'legend.'

Coach Cummings was always infatuated with the human body. At a young age, growing up on a farm, he would test his abilities with whatever obstacle in sight. This lead him into the health care field with a passion for enhancing performance. He honed his assets in the strength and conditioning world primarily at EXOS. After running a very successful Personal Training business - he opted out to take things a step further by working with purely athletics.

Now-a-days he challenges and inspires others to test their abilities by creating content, educating, and devising tools/toys/trinkets for performance for companies such as SKLZ and TriggerPoint. Chances are, if you have nearly any item from these companies (and many others!) MC had his hands in creating it or perfecting it.

Cash is King.

On today's Episode, Dr. Reid discusses why he CHOOSES not to take insurance for providing care.

By doing so, patients and clients spend their hard earned money for a service. This creates intent and buy-in. It forces the client to work harder because they actually paid for it. These are the types of patients and clients that I WANT to see.

Is there a time and place for insurance? You bet. It just isn't my model.

If we, as health care providers, are rendering more and more (or better  and better) health.. shouldn't we be seeing less patients?! Less  frequent? Less time? Less patient volume in general? In theory, yes. And that's where my role as a chiropractor steps in. To not conform to the norms. To utilize whatever tool deemed necessary  to get people moving and feeling better. To include the client or  patient's goals and fears as inspiration. Questions? Comments? Agree?! Disagree?! Let's chat about it!

On today's podcast your host, Dr. Reid Nelles, has an engaging  conversation discussing how to raise the standard as you pursue your  passions. Just because the industry is set in their ways doesn't mean  you can't rattle your cage.

Our guest, Mike Stella, is an athletic trainer based out of New York who  cut his teeth working in 'the mill' as a collegiate ATC. He explains how the ATC profession is an amazing realm where individuals get to work with some of the best athletes in the world with a myriad of different  issues. However, working long hours for little pay burnt him out on that  aspect of clinical care.

Now what? Give up and jump ship? Nope.

He started his own business - The Movement Underground. With over a decade of experience working with high level athletes ranging from MLB, NFL,  NBA, MLL NCAA, US OLYMPIANS, NCAA CHAMPIONS, PRO BODYBUILDERS, and CROSSFIT COMPETITORS - he has built his own brand of getting people  moving better by flying his own flag and breaking the expected glass  ceiling.
